Be the first to ReplyGood tasting food with a unique tasting menu.
Staff was very friendly and quick with service. Price is on the high end since it's a Michelin rated restaurant
Be the first to ReplyService is impeccable.
Flavors are divine. They do not skimp on the wine tasting. Most refined restaurant I have ever eaten at. Beautiful huge windows that add natural light to the quiet ambiance. If you're in the area and want a great 2 star meal, this is the place to go. Very pricey.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and atmosphere.
Service is exactly what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Absolutely deserves its 2-star rating.
Be the first to ReplyBest way to describe it is.
..very interesting. A 2 Michelin star restaurant that my friend picked out to try on our trip to Paris. Sadly I took videos of most of the food so I wasn't able to showcase the entire meal. Came for lunch and had the chefs tasting. There's a lot of flavors and textures going on not only throughout the courses but even within the individual dishes themselves. I'll look at the dish and not know what to expect at all! Food was good, however, I've come to think, perhaps fine dining like this isn't for me. Great experience but wouldn't revisit.
Be the first to ReplyGreat lunch overall.
Service was good and it started getting much busier after an hour opening. The portions and taste were good. They came out consistently with the right speed. Service was consistent, although the last few plates took quite a while (30 minutes to get the final plate/dessert), so the staff was pacing around waiting for the kitchen.Felt like a great lunch spot and worth trying with the friends/loved ones.

I recently visited Europe and had dinner at several one Michelin star restaurants, with this being the only 2 star restaurant I tried. I have to say, Restaurant du Palais Royal was my clear favorite of all those restaurants and fully deserves its 2 star rating. I would highly recommend including this restaurant on your next visit if you want incredibly creative and flavorful food coupled with a true dining "experience" that surprises you with every course.FOOD: We were a party of 6 and had the Autumn 2022 menu since we all wanted to try different things. We also thought it might not be as filling as the longer tasting menus (but instead we might have left feeling as full if not more full than if we had gone for a tasting menu!). It's difficult for me to convey through words how spectacular each of the dishes were, and my pictures surely don't do them justice, but I'll try to summarize the overall experience. Despite thinking we were ordering a 3 course meal, it felt like we had gotten the full tasting menu with full size (instead of tasting size) portions. First we got a bread course with incredible olive oil (and unlimited bread, though we refrained from over-indulging because we knew we had a lot of food coming). Then we had an amuse-bouche sharing course of four different dishes, almost all of which was several bites. These were all group favorites. There was a beet dish with whipped goat cheese that also came out around this time that we didn't expect. Afterward we had our individual appetizers (I tried all and the broccoli was my favorite) and our individual mains (I tried the lobster and veal and thought both were fantastic, with the lobster being my favorite as it also came with ravioli). The mains were large portions and almost all included a multi-step presentation/plating in front of each of us. For example, the lobster dish came out with the ravioli, then the lobster tail haves came out in corn husks that they then plated around the ravioli, and then a sauce was poured on top. Everything was beautiful and clearly fresh. By this time we were all already stuff but there was still more to come. We got a refreshing palette cleanser before dessert that was refreshing and a bit sweet. Then dessert came out and included 2 extra desserts on the side separate from what we ordered. Again, they plated these desserts in multi steps for us. I had an amazing, osmewhat deconstructed apple tatin but the pear dessert that my BF got was so unique and incredible so I'd also recommend that. The waitress said afterward that the rum baba is her favorite dessert here, so it seems like you'll need to try all the desserts they have!In addition to our desserts, we got a fried dough ball filled with ice cream that was the super sweet treat I needed after a savory meal, and we also got a not-too-sweet greek yogurt + nuts glass cup that was perfect for those in the party who wanted to end the meal on something milder. ENVIRONMENT: Beautiful and recently renovated space with a more modern and cozy feel. Lots of space and can fit a party of 6 like us in the main dining space at a large circular table. SERVICE: Impeccable. Felt like there was always someone making sure we were always well taken care of and clearing our area when necessary.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for my birthday with another couple.
In summary, amazing service & even better food! We had the tasting with the wine pairing & it was definitely one of the best meals we've ever had (and we've done quite a few tasting menus/Michelin starred restaurants). I also lost count of how many dishes came out.. there was a pre-amuse bouche, an amuse bouche, 3-4 more dishes, & 2 desserts.. . In between, they are constantly bringing the bread basket by & I made the mistake of saying yes, far too many times.

Restaurant Palais Royal is located in the Palais Royal, so it's nice to be on quiet private grounds and to be able to walk around before and after your meal. There's an a la carte option, but we did the tasting, which was 215€. As the chef is Greek, there were some Greek touches throughout the menu, which was a unique spin on fine dining in Paris. 1. "Mezze": feta with herbs, tarama, egg -- "Greek salad": beets, grape, pickled onion, olives, with feta ice cream and a wonderful olive oil - Brioche with lemon zest and herbs, warm, meant for dipping the leftover sauce from the Greek salad - Tart with feta, yellow wine, herbs- Crispy biscuit filled with a cream of codfish eggs, topped with shaved foie gras and taragon- Fried puff of potato with egg yolk and honey 2. Bread service: Regular bread and kalamata olive bread with olive oil from the chef's friend in Greece and a cute dish of dried oregano on the side 3. Steamed asparagus with lemon, lemon balm, vanilla oil, asparagus and lemongrass ice cream Warm "pita" round with caviar 4. Blue lobster roasted on a corn leaf - an entire tail, perfectly seasoned and cooked. If came with al dente ravioli filled with corn and parmesan, cauliflower roasted in lemon. The sauce was corn jus with lemongrass. On the side was a lightly battered lobster fritter that was essentially all all lobster. This was one of the best lobster dishes I can recall having 5. Sole steamed with lemon and herb, mussel, confit potato, white asparagus, spinach, spring peas, saffron sauce, kaffir oil, fennel, and lemon - so many spring ingredients that went so well together with each other and the seafood 6a. Milk fed lamb roasted in oregano, with artichoke, chickpeas, and a sauce of lemon jus with oregano. Sweetbreads came on the side 6b. For my pescatarian menu, I had a very large prawn (the size of a lobster tail) seared in kombu and honey, zucchini marinated in lemon (super interesting preparation), tempura flour "zucchini," basil sauce, fried squash blossom flower. I was very happy with my substitution! 7. Lemon mascarpone sorbet with tagete, verbena 8. Strawberry, elderflower, vanilla: caramelized mille feuille with strawberry sorbet, and a side of amazing strawberries with elderflower cream 9. Mignardaises - Fried donuts in cinnamon sugar filled with cinnamon ice cream - like a churro but better - Greek yogurt ice cream with vanilla honey caramel Between when we made the reservation and actually dined there, they went from 1 star to 2 Michelin stars. Service was gracious, but some courses came close together while others had a long gap, and oddly enough, both for us and the table next to us, they brought the first dessert while one person was in the restroom, then we had to get someone's attention for them to come back and explain the dish. My husband was also off put by his search for the restroom during which no one helped him. The food was one of the best that we had on this trip, but we just expected more polished service at this level. That said, I can put the small gaps aside because again, the food was wonderful.

While we are not huge fans of Michelin star restaurants, because of too much attention. But food was absolutely perfect as expected. portion sizes in France are usually overly generous and slight downsize was good. We still left fully stuffed and couldn't finish one if the desserts. But again absolutely everything was prepared to the highest standard possible.
Be the first to ReplyI LOVE this place.
We went for lunch last October while in Paris can't wait to go back. We met the Chef couldn't have been nicer. The food is excellent.

This was our final restaurant in Paris, and it came at the recommendation of our hotel concierge. Being just around the (long) corner from where we were staying, it was a nice, convenient way to end our stay in town. On a Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM - even before the sun was close to setting - it was quite empty in the restaurant, which was situated on the eastern edge of the gardens of Palais Royal, with only a couple other parties seated while we were there. Given the setup of the restaurant, the tables are set up in a kind of row along the windows facing the garden; you also have the choice of sitting outside if that suits your fancy. We chose indoors, as it was cool enough that it would have detracted from the meal. Our servers were excellent in bring us our food quickly and describing what was in it without skipping over anything due to language issues. The food is definitely deserving of Michelin stars, and it is somewhat surprising that they did not earn more, as this was the one place (out of the 3 Michelin-starred spots we dined at in Paris this trip) that had fantastic courses from start to finish. You can choose between the daily tasting menu or ordering a la carte; as we had gorged a decent amount over the course of a couple weeks in Europe, we felt a bit guilty and went a la carte. Nonetheless, that meant that my wife got to try the shrimp ravioli, which one might recoil at the price (52 euros!), but which was fully worth every bite. Shaped into 3 elongated pieces that look more like razor clams, the shrimp is wrapped in very thin skin and drenched in a light cream and an extremely generous amount of caviar. Each bite was simply divine and decadent, and it is hard to compare a dish like this to anything else I have eaten elsewhere...it makes one understand what the appeal of caviar as a foodstuff is, and it was a great complement to the shrimp that was cooked perfectly -not overdone and with lots of texture. My pie of fresh herbs was delicious as well - the filling was a cream of fresh herbs, but not too heavy; I enjoyed the leafy microgreens on top, as well as the hearty chanterelle mushrooms in it. For the mains, the suckling pork rack was 3 small, finely-sliced pieces of pork rack served with a little basil and a slab of sauce with a sneakily-quick rush of coffee. The pork was cooked to perfection and reminded me of a deconstructed mini-rack of lamb. My wife's John Dory, as was the case with all fish in France, was cooked exquisitely, with lot of moisture and juiciness, paired with a gnocchi that exuded basil with every bite. After a very refreshing palate cleanser (lemon sorbet with a very tart dragonfruit granita), we shared a dessert focused on strawberries - aside from sliced-up strawberries (delicious) and a thick strawberry sauce (more delicious), it was served on a scoop of almond ice cream (subtly nutty) - a refreshingly sweet way to end the meal. Then we were served a tart of some kind that was off-menu - very delicious and the size of a regular dessert to boot. This was a great way to finish off our Paris stopover - cuisine definitely inspired by the French but not as heavy as the food can typically be. The tasting menu is very fairly priced; the a la carte is a bit more expensive, but it is still extremely delicious in its own right. I would love to come back again and see how the menu changes with the seasons, but the folks here have their game in order when it comes to late summer.
