What a magical experience.
The staff were so on the ball. We got the land tasting menu and were blown away. Every course looked and tasted wonderful. Such a great variety. So much creativity and I'm still thinking about it. It's such a cool vibe there with fake stained glass, sparkly chandeliers and red light. The mirepoix cocktail was SO yummy. A nice savoury twist. I quickly recommending coming for this chefs menu. It's well worth the money.
Be the first to ReplyWe didn't eat here, we just had drinks.
This place is small so I wanna say reservations are recommended. The drinks were definitely unique and good.

Really expensive but really good! Nice portions, creative food, off the hook drinks, bodacious atmosphere. If you're not making bank, only go on special occasions, if you're making bank then Service was much better than other restaurants in the gta, but nothing like the US
Be the first to ReplyThis place has been on my list for a while after seeing it
This place has been on my list for a while after seeing it on social media, and it wad pretty hard to get a reservation! They only accept reservations one month in advance, and they go quite quickly. I had to book at midnight exactly one month before the date I wanted. Otherwise, there are only spots in random days at random times available. BUT I got the date and time I wanted and everything after was simple enough. They sent multiple reminders and messages before the reservation asking about allergies and such. Our table was actually ready before our time, so we arrived slightly earlier. The place isn't too difficult to find. Just follow the address and look for the eye. We got a table for two in a very cute and intimate nook, which I loved because we were celebrating my husband's birthday and it felt more special and a little bit more private than the other tables. We both got the Pastiche Signature ($95/pp), which is a blind set menu incorporating dishes from their farm, shore and garden menus. We also got the bacon and eggs and bathtub cocktails which were both super cool in presentation and true to flavour. Each dish tasted so delicious and we were so full at the end of it. We even had enough to pack home for later! Some highlights were the tartare (the best I've probably ever had), char siu octopus and sword fish. Really enjoyed my experience here and found it to be worth the price! Definitely recommend this place over some of the more expensive tasting menus I've tried.
Be the first to ReplyWow! I was stunned with every dish and drink.
This is peak hipster bar experience. We had the beef tartare, the fish, and potatoes (sorry I was a bit tipsy so I don't recall the exact names). The drinks were unique, tasted fantastic. Theres a stellar enormous mural on the back wall of the restaurant. Service was friendly, though I did feel a tad bit rushed, can't remember what that was about. It's quiet enough to have a conversation but not too quiet where it's awkward. Will come back for the tasting menu!

Had a great time here! Food is good, cocktails are great, but the decor/atmosphere is stunning and a standout. We came here for a double date on Valentines and was immediately taken away by the ambience and decor. It's eccentric, fun and intimate. We went for a tasting menu which was a surprise and had multiple cocktails as well. We had to wait around 15 mins past our reservation time, but the owner/manager was very apologetic and service afterwards was very prompt and friendly. I found the food to be good, albeit not particularly memorable. Cocktails on the other hand were super fun, unique in presentation and delicious (and reasonably priced compared to other spots in Toronto) I think it's a great spot for a date night or hangout with friends and would definitely come back here for drinks!
Be the first to ReplyWe enjoyed the place.
It was a good experience. The food was interesting, the drinks were interesting. Definitely a cool place for dinner. The staff was well trained and informed. Just a tip: the drinks are pricey, so just keep an eye on your how many you order if you are concerned about staying within a budget.
Be the first to ReplyPastiche, located along Ossington near Queen St.
W., is an eccentric, whimsical, and unexpected dining experience like no other in Toronto. Reservations are somewhat hard to book where they are definitely recommended. I believe I booked 3 weeks in advanced for bar seating on a Thursday night at around 5pm! A credit card is needed to hold your reservation as well (but you will not be charged). The restaurant is somewhat hidden, or not visible to the eye as there is no signage. I've actually passed by Pastiche many times but didn't realize it was a restaurant until my friend suggested that we try it out. I'm not sure if they have a la carte menu items but my friend and I opted for the "Shore" experience which is a 6 course blind tasting menu. Upon entering Pastiche, through the velvet curtains, you are transported to another world. The stained glass windows in the front of the shop add a uniqueness and intimacy to the space. Although we sat at the bar we loved that we were in the centre of the room where we saw the cocktails being made. Service was good throughout the meal where I thought that the meal was paced a bit too fast in the beginning (however, slowed down closer to the middle/end of the meal). Cocktails - great! We enjoyed the cocktails we had. Some are a bit more theatrical and whimsical in terms of presentation. The wine list is a bit lacking as they didn't have a particular list but they do have house wines available (where you have to ask). In terms of food, we were not told ahead of time what we would be getting - a total surprise. Our first bread and butter course consists of 4 butters (flavours included tiramisu, spicy red pepper, popcorn, and truffle/mushroom). Bread was great as well - the bartender told us they used to make it in house but now make it elsewhere. The crust of the bread was the perfect amount of crunch and the bread itself held together well as we tried the different butters. Presentation for the bread and butter was also unique. Our second course consisted of ahi tuna.Third course was an octopus salad, served slightly chilled. There was also some sort of fish croquettes we got as well which were light and crispy, the perfect bite.Mains included a miso crusted fluke wrapped in a type of leaf as well as a side of potatoes, which were smashed and crispy at the same time.Dessert is not included in the blind tasting menu but you could get their daily dessert if you wish. We were too full and we opted not to get the dessert. Overall, food was great and a surprise which was nice. Cocktails were a hit and the wine list could improve. My friend and I had a great time and the service was friendly and attentive as well.
Be the first to ReplyIt was a no for me.
Lovely waitress good service, but the food was just not hitting the mark. I'm very open minded when it comes to food but the pairing here was very off. Great Instagram photos, but all 5 of us were very underwhelmed with the food, in fact most of it went uneaten. We did not complain once as we understood it was a blind menu and more about the experience, until we got accosted outside the restaurant waiting for our Uber where a man who worked for the restaurant demanded to know if we enjoyed our meals. We uncomfortably told him it wasn't our thing but there were things we enjoyed about the experience. We went to go write a review on open tables only to find our reservation canceled so we couldn't write a review! This is extremely unethical as we paid a lot of $ for a dinner we didn't enjoy and they tried to silence our voices by deleting our reservation as if we had never been there. So to sum it all up. Way over priced,(even for Toronto) food was questionable, and there practices unethical. Complete thumps down for me.*No reflection on Zoey the server she was lovely.

Great service, great drinks and AMAZING FOOD!Pastiche is such a vibe. We need more gems like that in Toronto. Great for smaller parties, a date or a girls night
Be the first to ReplyI would not recommend this place if you have allergies/
I would not recommend this place if you have allergies/ dietary restrictions, the vibe was really cool and so was the concept, some dishes were good, and service was awkwardly bad (before even stepping into the restaurant).Unfortunate they have a lot of trouble and attitude accommodating to food allergies, as I was really looking forward to this unique dining experience. Service and in a way social skills really lacked with a few of the staff. My friend received a call from the restaurant to confirm our reservation and they asked about any food restrictions. Since my friend doesn't know all my allergies I had to give the restaurant a call- the lady told me to call back, when I did she was a lot more aggressive and had difficultly understanding that we also had a vegetarian in our group, she made a comment about speaking to our entire group already and being confused (she only spoke to 2 of us). She kept saying she wants to "make sure I have something to eat" I found that odd, if I wanted something to eat I would just eat at home.. obviously I would go out because I want fine dining food that I enjoy and don't get sick from. When we got to the restaurant the manager was very condescending in his tone and speaking as if we were children, checking in on me (in particular) and looking at me like he was pissed off he had to accommodate my allergies. The manager was also so passive aggressive. He made multiple jokes saying things like "is this a new allergy?", "do I need to drive you to the hospital?". Never have I been accused of making up my allergies, I have never experienced a place that was not only unable to understand allergies and dietary restrictions, but also made me feel like it was my fault and at least they're putting something in front of me to eat.The vibe was very interesting and cool! I also liked the concept however, wish it was better executed. The drinks were great and had thought put into the design and taste. The food was good, however only 2 dishes that were really great (the octopus!! And fired eggplant -I believe). The design and presentation of the food was very nice and well executed. The staff did give us nuts and olives and then shots at the end to make up for them being so bad with their service however that was followed with another joke about me making the next shot so he feels better... or something, I started to tune out the manager's comments by the end. Overall, very odd things to say for a place in the service industry. The service ruined the experience for our group and I unfortunately left the restaurant feeling bad about being born with allergies and having to be "so accommodating", which I don't think anyone should feel especially after paying a premium for a service.
Be the first to ReplySo fun and such a great ambiance.
We had $85 tasting menu experience on New Year's Eve Eve and I had a blast. Every course is good - it's so much food we were beyond stuffed and had to pack most of the final course home. Cocktails were great.
Be the first to ReplyIt was a surreal experience to dine at Pastiche.
From the very moment stepping inside the restaurant, crossing the black velvet curtains, the ambience and mystic lighting made a strong impression on us. We knew we were in for an enchanting journey. We ordered the Mirepoix, Apple Butter Jeans and the Beef Tartare. The cocktails were overall 3.5 - 4 /5. The tastes were refreshing. I also noticed that Pastiche's theme was to keep the original flavours of all ingredients in the drink (fruits, vegetables and liquor) without overpowering them with sugar and other taste enhancement. The presentations were spot on - I loved how the bartender used piลmaniye as the decor for the Apple Butter Jeans. It was a very thoughtful and fun touch.Beef tartare was a 10/5. The taste was OTHERWORLDLY and possibly one of the best beef tartare I've ever had in my life. As a matter of fact, I was grateful that Pastiche was in Toronto after the first bite, which meant that it'd be accessible for me to taste the tartare (and other items on the snack menu) again.Adding to the freshness of the beef, each bite was a burst of complex flavours of spiciness, sweetness and umami. The layers of the tastes were bold & experimental, yet made perfect sense like matches made in heaven, greeting your tastebuds like waves of pleasant breeze in the summer. The smoky dry mushroom on top added another layer of nuttiness and saltiness to the tartare. I certainly felt that I was holding the passport to the Flavourtown. Bravo, Pastiche, bravo.Nothing could be better to conclude my 29th birthday - thanks again, Pastiche.
Be the first to ReplyA really cool place that I actually walked by twice while
A really cool place that I actually walked by twice while trying to find it! I went here with a few friends as one of them has been wanting to go here for a while now, and it was very unique. First of all their drinks, so their drink menu has some really cool mixed drink options that were all the same price ($15 I think), but if you wanted something else you could tell the bartender what you were in the mood for and he would create something just for you! My drink came with a smoke bubble on top and I was impressed it made it to the table without popping. We went with two of the "experiences", the farm and the sea ones, and I have to say that the food was really good, but could seem small (depending on your appetite). You can tell things are fresh here and they put care into their food, each bite was delicious and I was happy I got to try both farm and sea! A little on the pricier side, but overall a really cool place to experience!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the most unique dining experiences that I've had to
One of the most unique dining experiences that I've had to date in Toronto. The tea cups, the interactive drinks and the quirky plating of the food definitely gave off a grown-up Alice In Wonderland feel. I like the set menus - there are different "experiences" that you can choose from where you get several courses for a set price. This is great if you're in a group! We went with the Farm experience and we thoroughly enjoyed every single dish. My favourites would have to be the artist's palette with the different flavoured hummus, the steak tartare that looks like a 3D cell diagram but tastes really amazing and the beef short ribs! The drinks were definitely a highlight - my favourite was by far the Bramble On! I just love the bubble feature with the smoke inside of it. Such a cool, interactive feature. Overall a 5/5 experience. Would love to come back again for sure!
Be the first to ReplyI wanted to believe that my experience at this restaurant
I wanted to believe that my experience at this restaurant was a one-off, but further online research uncovered similar experiences by other patrons. It is obvious that the bar manager, Matt Conway, is pretty consistent in being condescending. For what was supposed to be a special night, this guy single-handedly ruined the experience by being intentionally rude and unwelcoming. I was shocked when I found out that he was the manager on duty. I really do not want to think that this was racially motivated, but multiple online reviews affirm the possibility. We'd asked for a different waitstaff just to get through what was left of the terrible dining experience, but Matt's arrogance and perceived self-importance emboldened him to carry on with the blatant disrespect. I wish there'd been something else that made up for his horrible attitude, but unfortunately the promoted prix fixe menu items were equally underwhelming. Ashkan Omidi, one of the owners, stopped us outside as we were leaving to discuss our experience. He reassured us that Matt's attitude wasn't racially motivated but that he was simply dealing with some personal issues, which I consider a poor excuse to justify Matt's bad behavior. Ashkan offered an apology but was equally tone-deaf; at one point he pointed to his skin in an effort to be relatable and said he understands racism. That was so insensitive and offensive that I don't believe he understands how terrible and ignorant that was to say to a black person. Back to the main character, Mark, there is no reason why a MANAGER should lack self control if he shows up for work, no matter what his personal issues are. How do you hold your subordinates to any standard if you can't lead by example? This establishment seriously needs sensitivity and management training.
Be the first to ReplyStumbled upon this place late Saturday night.
Had now idea what it was, but our group was running out of time to find a bar for a nightcap. What wonderful experience! Excellent ambiance, fair pricing and delicious cocktails. But what set's this place apart was the staff. Their knowledge and enthusiasm made this place perfect. These people really care and really know about what they do. Bravo and thank you. I will certainly return.
