I had a wonderful experience.
I dined alone because I was in town for work and absolutely everyone at the restaurant went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. The food was excellent across the board.

Expensive (3 star Michelin) but when you account for quality it can only be considered a bargain. All I could think about the next day was to figure out how to get my friends to join with me to celebrate great food!

This was the fanciest meal I've ever had! It's a Thomas Keller restaurant who is also the owner of the French Laundry in California. Each diner had their own personal waiter at the table that uniformly walked around the table as if it were a uniform dance. They replaced our silverware after each course during the 5 course meal and poured wine with one hand behind their back the fancy way! Service was 100/10. The food itself was really rich. I went to bed later that night and my stomach was not used to it. The meals were a work of art and the chef doesn't repeat an ingredient in any dish. I think my favorite dish was the caviar appetizer... oh so creamy!

Loved the dining room and our table facing the big windows and Central Park. The best part of the meal of course was the desserts tray with 5-6 different desserts one better than the next! We got to go to the kitchen and take photos there and see the California kitchen staff in action. Staff was knowledgeable about the menu and they were all respectful. We also got a printed copy of our menu to remember this memorable night forever!

Be the first to ReplyTL:DR Stellar service, ambiance and drinks.
I was a little disappointed at the food. Their whisky sour is to die for! They have a waiting area in the front with a few couches and chairs to use when waiting for the other people in your party. Walking in, the venue was beautiful and serene. My old-friend and I sat at the very back row, facing east, watching the moon that was full and rising. I think we had the most patient and gracious server in the house. Isaiah patiently explained our 8 courses and all the decisions that he needed to make that evening quite a treat. All of the half a dozen staff that assisted us were fantastic. The food however wasn't as mind blowing as I thought it would be. Two memorable dishes stored in memory were the oysters and pearls (first dish) and then the dessert (banchan-style). Other dishes that I remember, but not necessarily loved was the foie (creamy but still had a bit of stringiness I had to cut around) and the lamb. Still a great place to eat at however, Atelier Crenn still takes the cake.

Beautiful setting. The family had so much fun. It was an experience not just a meal.

All around incredible, ambiance feels like you're in someone's living room (in a good way) with the cozy fireplace and the dim lighting. View is beautiful and there's plenty of space between tables to not feel cramped. This was our first time at Per Se and we were in awe with the cozy yet elevated flavors. I wouldn't say the menu is too experimental; many of the flavors are familiar but done with very high quality ingredients and care around how they are paired. Our favorite by far was the lamb, which was easily the most tender lamb we have ever had. The service was also wonderful and friendly. They chatted with us and were overall very welcoming and knowledgeable. Would definitely come back again!

Took my mother for her birthday Food was otherworldly, tasted flavors that I didn't know exist and simple things like bread were the best I ever had, not even a close second. Staff was friendly and guest seemed cool too, one guy even offered to take a photo of my mother and I! well worth the money. To be honest not sure if some of the food could even be prepared more perfectly. (PS, don't look at the bill close your eyes and sign it, but you got to pay for that level of culinary skill)

Per Se was a wonderful experience from the service, to the ambiance, to the drinks, and finally to the food. My husband and I have been privileged enough to dine at several Michelin restaurants around the world and Per Se is the best one we've experienced in the U.S.It's on the top floor of a mall right next to Central Park, but when you enter the blue doors you're in a beautiful, cozy, romantic restaurant. The menu was broken up into two tasting menu options - vegetarian or meat with a few enhancement options. They also offer a wine pairing option but our group stuck with cocktails. We started with a small amuse bouche, followed by 8 savory courses and then a smorgasbord of desserts. My absolute favorite was the one enhancement I went with which was a risotto with black truffle. Wow it was so creamy, decadent and I appreciated that my server had a heavy hand with the truffle! The close second was the veal - the sauce really made that dish; it was amazing. My husband loved it as well and even wished he hadn't upgraded to the wagyu beef because the veal was that good. The only thing I didn't care for was the olive additions - I came across olives in a few of my dishes but that's a personal dislike. They also did their version of a cheese course before dessert which was absolutely delicious. Then dessert - wow!! Many of these restaurants don't put as much emphasis or creativity into dessert compared to the savory courses, but Per Se did not disappoint. We each were given 7 different bites/small dishes which was so fun to try a variety of things and they were all delicious. Finally, they brought out some beautiful chocolate bon bons in a variety of flavors to choose from.Last but not least, at the end of our meal our sever brought me a gift which was a Per Se onesie for our soon-to-be little one. Wow - what restaurant has onesies at the ready?! It was such a special touch. Thank you for such a beautiful meal and evening!
Be the first to ReplyMy 2nd time here and wont be returning.
Overrated, rude staff, food is just ok nothing to brag about. The waiters are drunk racist and spill wine/food everywhere. I've been to much better much better Michelin starred restaurants with way better service.
Be the first to ReplyOverall, Per Se met my expectations for a 3 Michelin star
Overall, Per Se met my expectations for a 3 Michelin star restaurant, though it did not blow me away (hence why 4 instead of 5 Yelp stars).Full disclosure- I have previously dined at exactly one 3 Michelin star restaurant, Benu in SF, so I have some experience (though nowhere near extensive) with this level of establishment. The good:-The food was delicious. Everything was executed with the utmost precision and with high quality ingredients. One would expect nothing less from a restaurant of this caliber.-The magical setting. Sleek and tucked away on the 4th floor of the Shops at Columbus Circle, the views of Central Park especially at the sunset hour were lovely and also added a very New York flair.-The dessert. This was my favorite part of the whole meal. Rather than a single dessert course, Per Se pulls no punches and gives you a whole assortment of sweets to indulge in. Though the variety is large, the portions are thoughtful so you don't get flavor fatigue or feel overwhelmed. In particular, I loved the playful signature "coffee and donuts"- the donuts despite looking plain had the perfect texture and the deceptive "coffee" was nicely balanced and refreshing. The bonbons were also fantastic. Try to sample as many as you can!-The kitchen tour. We were asked if we wanted to see the kitchen, and I'm so glad we did. I've never seen a more clean and regimented kitchen in my life and it was eye-opening to see the behind-the-scenes. Definitely ask to do this if you have time! The meh:-How do I say this...many of the ingredients for the regular tasting menu sans supplements were rather ordinary. To be clear, they were probably the tastiest versions of those ingredients I've ever had, but I was expecting something a bit more adventurous and experimental. I wonder how much of this is due to them wanting you to purchase the (pricey) supplements...-Service felt a tad sterile. Again to be clear, the staff were super attentive and there's nothing specific to complain about. It's just that compared to Benu, it didn't feel as warm and there wasn't as much small talk, though that could be a NYC thing.Overall, recommend you go and judge for yourself. This is a storied place for good reason.Humorous aside: Chef Keller happened to be in attendance and though we didn't get to speak with him, we overheard another guest joking to him that he looked just like Ralph Fiennes from the film The Menu. Keller apparently hadn't seen the movie so he was confused, which amused both the guests and some of the staff.

An absolute journey through culinary excellence in an elegant and intimate environment. The restaurant is located on the top floor of a mall but the top floor has a different vibe from the rest of the mall. Nonetheless as you enter the blue doors you are transported to a culinary oasis! The service I experienced at Per Se exceeded expectations and has established a new standard for food service for me. I also enjoyed the 100 pages of wines and other drinks provided on a tablet. The drinks were fantastic! The menu is straightforward with a 9 course vegetarian option and the classic 9 course chef's tasting menu with supplemental options. The oysters and pearl dish was incredible as the oysters were meaty with excellent flavor. The Foie Gras was a fantastic supplement that was refreshing with hints of summer. The rainbow trout was executed to near perfection. The langoustine was AMAZING with a nice char flavor on the top paired with magnificent flavors. The quail smelt like bacon and almost tasted like ham which was a magically journey for my taste buds. The risotto supplement at this stage takes you to broadway for a play starring truffles so I would recommend. The wagyu supplement was great but I learned that I'm not the biggest fan of that beef for some reason. I enjoyed the veal more which was a surprise. The gougere was a nice intermission to get ready for dessert. The dessert course is wild as your childhood self will come to play with an adult twist with coffee entering the chat. Every item from the ice cream to the coffee to the doughnuts to the bons bons made the night. The kitchen walkthrough was the cherry on top and I left Per Se full and wanting to go back for more. 10000/5 and the arguably the best restaurant I have been to in my life to date. I would recommend over and over again.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely delicious.
I loved the tasting menu. The oysters and pearls were the best. I would go back just for that and I can see why it is on the tasting menu since they have opened. I want to comment more on the food but who knows what menu you'll get. It's just a must try. The experience was wonderful from knowledgeable servers to the warm and cozy ambiance.

I was there for a prefixed event and it looks like my first fine dine review and first fine dining experience in a very long time. Unfortunately the ambiance in the private room doesn't have much of a view, but the service was great (it was interesting watching the staff come through a door in lock step with each other as my plates were collected and my glasses were always filled). The food - those who eat with their eyes went home very full. The oyster and pearl dish we received - "sabayon" of pearl tapioca with island creek Oysters and Regiis Ova caviar was the highlight for me delivering refreshing, contrasting, and satisfying flavors.

Third time to experience this place and they are solid in terms of presentation, service, and ambiance. Thank you to the host who took our pictures in front of the blue door before we went in. Easy to check in and took us to our seats- no waiting. They had menus and cookies for us at the door when we left.

My husband took me to Per Se for our anniversary and honestly, I was a little worried it wouldn't stand up to all the hype. But man, was I wrong! This was probably the best dining experience in recent years.
