Beauty is but a facade.
The stunning ambiance draws you in and that's where it leaves you. The lackluster service was almost deafening. Drinks, tasty, but took ages and it seemed as though our server preferred the company of his colleagues as opposed to our table, and that trickled to the other tables. The only savior of this dinner was the fried chicken. Fresh ingredients. Unless you're bringing family here whom you'd rather not converse with, avoid. They're as cold as their bread and butter. (i'm serious, cold bread and colder butter). So much potential and the mark was entirely missed.

Came here for restaurant week and had such a lovely experience! The inside is upscale and classy, with a gorgeous dining room. The food was excellent too! The highlight of the restaurant week menu was certainly the molten lava cake.

tasty food and wonderful service, But if you're looking for ambiance, here is not a first choice. The location lends no character. However if it's good food you're looking for and you're nearby, by all means go have a delicious meal there!

Arrived five minutes late for a reservation at a mostly empty restaurant. Walked out two and a half hours later with renewed respect for the cuisine of Jean-Georges but also with disappointment for the speed and quality of service. The guy who we thought was the waiter was never present at the right time, check-ins immediately after dishes were served were skittish, and most importantly the courses were served painfully slowly. Observing the cadence at which other tables were served food, it did seem like something was off. If we ordered the full tasting menu we would have had to bring sleeping bags to the restaurant.

Been coming here for 15 years but the last time was a real letdown -- the first time they botched the fried chicken. Service always impeccable but things are starting to break down here. Considering how much the prices have gone up, and considering that they've eliminated the taste of Perry St menu, my wife and I have had to let this one go as one of my all time favorite and also hers. It's getting harder and harder to run a restaurant in NYC. I feel for them. But it's no longer worth the arm and a leg they've started charging. They used to have a Taste of Perry St for the middle class and the fancy could still get a Lobster Thermidor. I just can't pay north of $40 for fried chicken that's not absolutely transcendent.

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 10 years. The ambiance is great for reunions and meetups, great views of the surrounding trees and water and music at the perfect volume for conversation. We have also never been disappointed by the following foods: - The rotating selection of soups, most recently the Thai chili broccoli soup which was an incredible burst of roasted broccoli, coconut foam and a subtle punch of flavor with the chili. - Appetizers: The red snapper sashimi, which has changed my world view on grapes in savory dishes as a whole, and the rice cracker crusted tuna. - Entrees: Don't hesitate on the butter-poached lobster, the lemongrass broth and potato ravioli are to die for! The fried chicken with creamed corn is also a strong contender. - Dessert: Molten chocolate cake, 100%. That being said, yesterday was the first time we were let down by the overall service. - We had ordered the Pol Rogere champagne followed by a 2018 Alsatian Pinot Gris, and when drinking what we thought was the Pinot Gris, we realized it was not actually the correct bottle of wine. We wanted to keep the bottle label for recording purposes and the supervisor ultimately gave us the correct bottle to keep, but as it turned out, the bottle still contained about a 1/3 of the amount of wine. I can only imagine that the table whose wine we ended up drinking was also as frustrated as we were. - Additionally, we were told by the supervisor that another party's reservation was for our table only 15 minutes prior to when they were arriving. He assured us that he would accelerate the time of our desserts leaving the kitchen as well as receiving the check, but none of those were done. This information of another party's reservation time should have been communicated much more in advance so that both us and the kitchen can prepare accordingly. Additionally, bringing out the dishes and refilling water and wine glasses was much slower than normal, which further exacerbated the time situation. - (of note as well, there were two major dish crashes during our dinner) There were also letdowns with some of the food, most egregiously the crispy skin salmon which did not have crispy skin at all. The best parts of the dish were actually the ginger-chili vinagrette and the squash. We may have come at a time where there is transition of roles and new servers, which is why it is even more important that these grievances be highlighted. We love Perry Street and want it to thrive for as long as possible, so we hope these flaws are addressed accordingly.

I came here for a networking event, and they served these apps in Tapas style. Everything was so delicious! My favorite is the Calamari. It came with this Yuzu Foam that was light and fluffy and added some tart and sweetness to the crispy and savory calamari. Just thinking about it is making me drool a bit... All their ingredients taste so fresh and very well seasoned. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. The dining area is also extremely beautiful with a nice view of the water and sunset in the afternoon/early evening. Perfect date night spot. The service staff were impeccable and amazing. Everyone is so nice and courteous. I can't wait to come back.
Be the first to ReplyI love this iconic NYC restaurant.
It's been around for years. It's fine dining, but some diners dress casually. Overall, the service, food and ambiance are impeccable. Daniel Run, the GM is a great example of providing above par customer service. I celebrated my birthday solo and they made me feel so warm and welcoming. I took advantage of the restaurant week menu and loved every bit of it. To kick it off I ordered the best cucumber martini in NYC. The fluke sashimi appetizer was so fresh with buttery avocado, diced radish, soy-ginger dressing and high quality olive oil accoutrement was perfect! The crispy skin salmon with ratatouille was superb. I'm not a big fan of ratatouille, but this Asian version I loved and I ate every morsel. My warm chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream dessert topped with a candle and complimentary dessert wine was the perfect closure to my fine dining meal. Thank you to Daniel and staff.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant has a very unique and unassuming look.
It's almost like a hotel lobby restaurant vibe. The waiters (Henry) were fabulous with recommendations and knowledge. For starters we had the pear salad which was great but the calamari was the star of the appetizers. The crisp was amazing and the sauce was incredible - despite its looks. For the main course we had the salmon and lobster raviolis. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the vegetables were the star and the sauce was amazing. The sauce for the lobster ravioli was terrific too!! The lobster, of course, was great and the only disappointing bit was the ravioli itself. There just wasn't anything spectacular about the taste. The sorbet to close the night was perfect and refreshing,
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and drinks.
Niko is quite knowledgeable about all his spirits. We had a special sous vide egg with caviar that was just next level.
Be the first to ReplyI love this restaurant.
A group of us got to try a variety of things on the menu, and each dish was phenomenal. They were all, on the surface, familiar dishes - duck, tuna, sashimi, calamari etc. But there was always some kind of twist that made it taste better than any I've ever had before. The best way I can describe it is that there is always something that tickles your tongue and makes you hunger for more, no matter what it is. The meat, in particular, was always perfectly cooked and prepared. Just, wow. Great for the price point and amazing service as well. The ambiance was so relaxing, too. Warmly lit and comfortable, very upscale but not pretentious. It was a bit of a life changing experience, honestly. I can't taste food the same ever again.

Third time visiting Perry Street and can now reliably say it is definitely a charm! This time I came with a group of friends on a Sunday evening and tried their winter restaurant week menu, which is a 3-course menu for $60. Tried their pumpkin and basil pot stickers (with soy-lime and ginger sauce), sauteed pork loin, and molten chocolate cake. Loved the Korean-inspired samjang sauce with the pork loin as it provided a unique twist and boldened the flavor. Service has always been outstanding at Perry Street. We were greeted immediately upon entering. Staff was attentive without being overbearing throughout the meal. Sadly, they were quite busy during restaurant week and we were asked to vacate the table and move to the lounge after about 2 hours of meal time - understandable for sure, but not the most pleasant dining experience (especially since we were not informed of the dining time limit when we made the reservation).

The staff were very kind and friendly. Already planning on coming back ! Loved this place greatly.

Ambience : We visited perry st for my sisters birthday and we're absolutely overjoyed by the experience . The ambience was well lit giving off a cozy ambience. There was minimal background music so we could enjoy our conversations and the waiter and servers were brilliant. The food was served on time.Food : The creamy burrata and the truffle sourdough bread were a massive hit. The truffle and Brie cheese with honey made for a terrific combination being both sweet and savory. The crispy calamari was delicious, the batter was well aerated so it was uniformly cooked. The sauce was light and complimented the dish perfectly. The salmon was truly crispy and perfectly cooked. The salmon melted under the knife and the sauce was delicious and well coated. The sweet potato paired well with it.The duck was well cooked, juicy and the passion fruit sauce complimented it really well. The portion size was really good The seasoned vegetable with green curry was extremely delicious paired with the ginger rice as a side. You cannot go wrong with it. The crispy chicken was larger in portion. Not as good as the salmon or the duck but was still really good . We also ordered a molten chocolate cake that was frikking delicious. With a vanilla ice cream that was executed perfectly Overall would highly recommend this restaurant for special events or a fancy date night
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely wonderful meal.
The menu presents itself as a standard, nice meal, but the flavors that come out of the kitchen bowled me over. Everything was perfectly cooked, perfectly dressed, and perfectly presented. I was obsessed with my entree, the seared black bass with roasted maitake mushroom, aromatic basil broth. It was incredible. I also loved the crispy artichoke with roasted sunchokes, garlic vinaigrette, celeriac. Finally, the rice cracker crusted tuna was wonderful, though I wasn't in love with the citrus-sriracha emulsion. Our dessert, the gingerbread Bundt cake with cranberry sorbet, tasted just like the holidays. All in all, a wonderful meal.

If you're already in the West Village and looking for a nice spot with very friendly service, not too expensive, then this should be a good place. I had a chicken dish here a couple years ago which was amazing and I went back recently to see what they have now. The black truffle brie cheese was a revelation but overall the food isn't super delicious. Not really worth going out of your way for as NYC has many great restaurants that are more worth your time. Feels like a local spot for the rich people living in the area who don't always want to go uptown for a nice dinner.

This restaurant, especially in the early fall, makes you feel like you're at trendy spot in Santa Monica. This is especially true if you sit on the patio like we did. We do the pre fixe, which came came with crispy tuna, heirloom tomatoes, lobster, lamb chop and a pudding desert with crispy velvet. The most notable dishes were the lamb chop which had a deconstructed black olive dish which was more interesting than delicious and the pudding with crispy velvet. Everything was very good, can't wait to come back.

Perry St has been a West Village fixture for well over a dozen years. Before the pandemic Perry St was getting a little tired, but it now seems to have its "second wind" and is again innovative. Perry St is a Jean-Georges restaurant, but it is led by his son Cedric who is a talented chef in his own right. We have always been fans of Perry St, but are delighted to see it return to its original form.

My boyfriend and I shared:+ Crispy calamari + Baby gem and arugula salad + Black truffle burger + Chocolate pudding The highlights were the calamari and dessert (the candied violets in that pudding are just next level), though everything was great per usual.

Such a disappointment for Jean-Georges restaurant( the atmosphere was blah, on a windy day you can barely open the front door and nobody helped ( I even had to go to open a door for my girlfriend who is 100 lbs cause she would NEVER be able to open that door, especially on the windy day that we had in the city). The table was too small, the food was ok but mediocre for such a restaurant standards. We paid for food that we even did not enjoy( I NEVER regret paying any amount of money for good food and ambiance, but at this place my expectations were not supported by reality( the staff was good though.

Amazing experience! Our appetizers were octopus and firecracker ahi tuna which were both delicious! Drinks were amazing. Butternut squash soup was something I've never tasted before. It was so full of flavor and texture. For our entrees, we got the beef tenderloin which was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Cappuccinos and molten lava cake were a great way to end the night. Our waiter was Amri and he gave us phenomenal service and I wouldn't go back without asking for him. He was great and continued to check in on us. He made sure our water was never less than 3/4 and knew how to pair our drinks to what we were eating. 10/10 experience. Will definitely be back.
