Had my first taste of pierogis/polish food at Pierozek, and I was blown away. I tried their Kielbasa with Meat Pierogis, Spinach and garlic piergois and tartarskie pierogis. The meat pierogis were incredible tender and so flavorful, the spinach was light but satisfying and the tartarskie was incredibly tender and light at the same time. If you're really hungry, you can definitely finish 9 pierogis and 1 kielbasa no problem. The kielbasa thought, was my favorite dish out of everything. It had such a nice bite to it, and it was so flavorful! Adding on the mustard and ketchup really made a difference. The waiter/owner, was super nice. He checked up on us and even made sure to let me know which dishes had dairy (I mentioned being lactose). The restaurant had a nice home-y look to it, and the decorations were refreshing. Wonderful place to begin your Polish food introduction!

Dessert is a bit dodgy - stick to the savoury items.

I like the summer bowl! The smell was so nice and I could choose 2 different flavors of Pierogis.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant definitely is one of my favourites in NYC
This restaurant definitely is one of my favourites in NYC now. I happened to visit during the Restaurant Week, and honestly, they had one of the best pre-fixe deals in NYC this year. For just $30 (either lunch OR dinner!!!), you get an appetizer, entrée, dessert, AND and a drink (either alcoholic or non-alcoholic). And the food you get is excellent quality. I got the meat stuffed cabbage, bigos (hunter's stew), and the blueberry pierogi for dessert. For the drink, since I don't drink alcohol, they said I can choose from the coffee menu, so I got a cappuccino. Everything was super delicious and made with effort. The blueberry pierogi (I never had pierogi as desserts) was soo good!! The dough had the perfect, soft texture that was so addicting. I would love to come back next time to try the savoury pierogi and other dishes. I mean, after all, this place is known for the best pierogi, eh? I also love the vibe here. I was here for lunch, so there weren't that many people, so it was really quiet, and I could enjoy my book while waiting for my food. The entry might look narrow and tiny, but there are more seats deeper down.

Hmm maybe we had a one-off experience but we were a little disappointed. I enjoyed the homey ambiance, but I thought the food was just okay, and soured by how slow the service was. (TIP: Always ask for all your dishes to come at the same time!!) I like that they give the option to mix-and-match pierogis to try as many as possible. In order of preference, we had the raspberry and sweet cheese, tatarskie, buffalo chicken, and strawberry pierogis. The raspberry and sweet cheese pierogi was my overwhelming favorite and reminded me of a cheesecake dessert. The tatarskie was okay, but I thought the buffalo chicken was a bit plain, and the strawberry was just not my taste though I did appreciate that it was more tart than sweet. We also had the borscht, I really liked it but was disappointed that it was just the broth and didn't include any vegetables. I think the food is a solid 3.5/5 but the biggest gripe was the slow service. We were given the option of having our sweet and savory pierogis arrive together or as separate courses. We opted for the latter which was a MISTAKE. It took 50(!) minutes between the savory and the sweet plate of pierogis to arrive. When we checked in at the 30 minute mark our server replied that they were busy. I understand that it was a packed house but almost an hour is pushing it. There were people waiting in the front that could have been seated already had we gotten our order faster, and I can see the wait times compounding quickly if our experience was the norm. Lesson learned to opt to have everything served at once.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is literally my favorite place in Greenpoint.
One being that the pierogis is one of the best I've ever had! I came two times, one during Fall and now during Winter and I can assure you that I've sat outside both times and both times I've been so comfy and the heater works really well. The picnic table is just so big that I'm able to sit with my dog in peace with some friends (they're super dog friendly!) My Ukrainian friend introduced this place to me and we found out we can order raspberry sauce with our Zweigelt beer. This is a HUGE GAME CHANGER. From hangovers to just regular beer this tastes so good and I wish I knew about this in my life earlier on. I would totally recommend anyone who is coming here to try it! I've ordered pierogis in three different ways here. Salad with pierogi - if you ever want a fresh salad with dried cranberries this is an amazing pick as you get three fried pierogis and it literally tastes amazing with half the carbs. Pierogi - the regular pierogi platter comes in 6 and I recommend you get the potato and cheese all in 6 because this is my favorite kind of pierogi here and it's just absolutely so craveable. Mixed pierogi - I like to mix the meat and sauerkraut and mushroom together as it gives you a good amount of veggies and meat. Another way is that you can actually order pierogi with your borscht soup as well. All of the pierogi comes with regular sour cream and one with dill! I totally will be back here every season and love this place so much. I'm obsessed with their pierogis and haven't tried their regular meals but I'll definitely be back!

I guess I'm a little out of step with the other almost uniformly glowing reviews but I was a little disappointed with the food here. The stuffed cabbage was OK but the tomato sauce was extremely sweet and the portion small. The meat pierogis had a strange flavor -- maybe it was just unfamiliar seasoning but it wasn't pleasant. And all the food was served luke warm. For $14 I was expecting better pierogies and have definitely had better pierogies elsewhere. The service, on the other hand, was very warm and friendly.

I live in the neighborhood and have been coming here since it opened. The food and ambience are excellent. The borscht is outstanding, especially when you're sick. And the pierogis are top notch. The manager and staff are all wonderful as well. There are loads of places to eat in Greenpoint, but this is probably my favorite. Great place to take visitors as well.
Be the first to ReplyThis place reminds me of a cozy dinner at a grandmas house.
They have cute pierogi shaped pillows on the benches and floral print dishware. The servers also gave us good recommendations. * Red Borscht 6.5/10 - Tastes like something that would be really good for you. I wish there were vegetables in the borscht instead of just the broth. * Meat Croquette 7.5/10 - The Meat was a bit dry, but good crisp on the outside. * Kielbasa Dish with Murray's Cheese Pierogis 8/10 - The Kielbasa was salty and smoky and paired well with the mustard. * Paulie Gee Pierogis 8/10 - A bit greasy but yummy. I recommend getting them fried, instead of steamed. Overall, I thought the meal was pretty good and it was some of the best pierogis I've had. The homemade mustard was delicious. However, I wish there were more vegetables served with the dishes. The flavors of all the dishes were a bit too one dimensional for me.
Be the first to ReplyPierozek is the best pierogi place in New York City.
This charming restaurant located in Greenpoint offers a variety of pierogis, combining traditional Polish recipe with a modern twist. We orders three different types of pierogis (Spinach, Meat and Murray's cheese) which come in six per serving, as well as well as a plate of Golabki (cooked cabbage leaves wrapped around meat with rice and topped with tomato sauce), for four people and we loved the variety. If you decide to go during lunch time, and if the weather allows it, I strongly advise to request a table in their outdoor seating area. We had the chance to enjoy their quiet patio and had a fantastic lunch experience.
Be the first to ReplyReally kind and homey service.
Delicious food. Plenty of options for vegetarians. I appreciated that they had the option of picking two flavors for the same price as one plate of six so my friend and I got two plates of that she tried four flavors. I totally expected the Spanish one to be bland and flavorless but it worked. All pierogi plates come with two sauces but I actually recommend eating sans the sauces so you can really appreciate and enjoy the flavors of the pierogi as is. So the The jalapeño pierogi actually had amazing flavor which surprised me because I totally expected it to have had a barely there flavor but there was a light kick and it was great. Can't go wrong with the classic cheese and potato. The tatarskie was also a must get. It has egg and some other stuff in the filling and I admittedly can't even describe it. You just have to try it for yourself. The croquette was pretty good but I think for ten dollars for the size it was is a bit much.A really homey, filling, and comforting meal over all with very nice service! Would recommend over the other pierogi spots in the borough.

I placed a delivery order, via telephone, for my adult daughter b/c she was not feeling well. The owner made the delivery herself, wouldn't accept a tip and told my daughter that she hopes she feels better! Thank you for helping this worried momma out! This is why the food is so awesome here!!!!!-----because it is made by awesome people! Every time I come to visit, we must, and always do, eat here! Love love the food!Kellie
Be the first to ReplyGood service, great food, and reasonable prices.
Fast and fresh pierogis. We tried Murray's cheese, sauerkraut and mushroom, Kaszanka (blood sausage), and potato & cheese. All were delicious. We highly recommend all of them.

Everything was delicious and the staff was extremely kid-friendly. I wish I lived closer so I could go there all the time! We had about 5 different kinds of pierogies and they were all delicious.
Be the first to ReplyGood service, nice interior although it is small.
We went on a Tues night around 5:45. We did order cocktails - I had czarna porzeczka and my husband ordered plum fashioned. Both were good but czarna porzeczka was best. My husband ordered the Murray's cheese Pierogi and Tatarskie Pierogi. Both were good but he liked Murray's cheese best. I ordered the Kielbasa Dish with Murray's Cheese Pierogi. The pierogis were good- sized and had a good amount of filling in them. I personally like my pierogis sauteed with a slight crisp which these were not but still were very tasty and seemed very fresh. Definitely not frozen. Good amount of toppings with them as well. The kielbasa was well cooked - seemed like it might have been fried even which I really liked. We cleaned our plates! We tried Sweet Cheese Nalesniki / Crepe for dessert. Crepe was made to order and good to share. Overall, very nice meal and I would definitely come back.

Walked by this place and ordered takeout for two different kinds of pierogies to try them and both were fantastic but the Murray's Cheese were my favorite! So tasty and very filling.
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed a late lunch at Pierozek.
All of the little touches made a great impression on me. I enjoyed a cup of tea in a cup with a saucer that had an old school look/pattern. Might seem corny, but I liked it. I ordered the Murray's cheese pierogis. There are six to an order, and although they look small and cute, they are quite filling. The Murray's cheese are filled with potato and the namesake's cheese, and topped with crispy pieces of bacon and chives. My dish also came with sour cream and a herbed version that was very complimentary to the pierogi. My server was very attentive and pleasant from start to end. I look forward to returning and trying the other flavors of pierogi and drinks on the menu. FYI: they have a drink menu with very interesting offerings for those seeking a boozy experience.

Pierozek is a casual eatery serving authentic Polish fare, specializing in their homemade pierogi. They've also got the classic dishes such as kielbasa, borscht, stuffed cabbage, etc. They serve some pierogi with an American twist. I've had this restaurant bookmarked for a while and finally decided to try it with my mom on a Saturday night. Seriously one of the best pierogi I've had in NYC! Young woman serving us was super friendly and made us feel welcome. My mom ordered the Potato & Cheese Pierogi and Tatarskie Pierogi. Both of these choices were really good. The pierogi were generously sized and had great amounts of filling in them. I ordered the Kielbasa Dish with Murray's Cheese Pierogi. Loved this pierogi choice as well. Our dishes also came with garlic dill sauce, sour cream, ketchup, and mustard. The kielbasa came out hot and had a nice smoky flavor. Hard not to devour the whole thing. It's a big kielbasa so you may want to split this with someone. For dessert, we ordered the waffle. We were told that the waffle takes 20 minutes to make, as it's made from scratch, but the wait was totally worth it! The whipped cream is also homemade. The waffle was so light, fluffy, and airy to bite into. It was also perfectly sweetened. Perfect way to end off our meal.Overall the prices were very reasonable for the food we received and I would definitely come back to try their other pierogi :) Highly recommend! They also have an outdoor patio area for seating in the back of the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyVery cute place for a casual dinner.
I came on a Friday night and it was popping! My friend and I ordered a savory pierogi mix. Together we tried the sauerkraut mushroom, potato and cheese, broccoli cheddar, and spinach. They all looked and tasted freshly made which is always a joy. We also shared the crepe which was stuffed with cottage cheese. Overall there was a nice mood, lighting, and great service.

If you're craving blueberry pierogis in the dead of winter, this is your spot. Bonus points for the sweet raspberry pierogis. The accompanying cream served with them is sweet and decadent. The kielbasa is great quality as well. This will run you a bit more compared to other pierogi spots in the neighborhood, but it's worth it. It's a heavy meal, but you already knew that.

Came here with my Dad to show him what Polish food in Greenpoint is all about. Honestly the best pierogies I've had in the neighborhood. Really enjoyed the salad entree that came with three pierogies of your choosing. The spinach pierogies are the best in my opinion. Lowkey though, not the best drink selection. The bartender makes great cocktails that are on the menu, but deviating from that list doesn't fly. Regardless, a great place.

Walking down Manhattan Ave towards McCarren Park we stumbled upon this fantastic pierogi palace. The patio was charming and comfortable and the service was friendly and helpful. The pierogis were fantastic a varied selection stuffed full with sauerkraut, potatoes and cheese, spinach and countless other more exotic fillings. All delicious, I had the summer bowl, 6 pierogis, 3 each of two different types if you like. I had sauerkraut and potatoes and cheese, not very adventurous, but very tasty. They came in a large bowl filled with yellow and green squash red peppers and sliced kielbasa, they were also covered with caramelized onions. Even the crockery everything was served was attractive. And yeah the cup of borscht was exceptional.

Amazing deal. $14 for the summer grill bowl, which left me stuffed. Bloody Mary was good, but the Bison Grass Vodka drink my partner had was even better. Very unique!
