Treat for homesick Americans!
We’re Americans and one of us is from south Louisiana and very picky about her Cajun cuisine. We left very satisfied. With the attentive service and the food. The food was delicious and there were good-sized servings. Flavors were familiar. The music over the speakers was also Cajun-flavored! The moody and ‘swampy’ paintings on the walls added to the ambience. We will definitely come back.

Live piano and music playing in a cost unpretentious setting. The food was exquisite and very interesting. Never had a food experience like it. Corn bread was my favourite, clearly person in kitchen Loves what they do. It is made with love. Would definitely promote and come again. The pouilly fumé wine was beautiful and we were very relaxed after a long journey.

Looking at the prices - and the selection - of the starters, some of us decided to go for the "bar snacks" on the menu as starters. So, I had fried chicken from there, and blackened chicken for main. And a glass of sauvignon blanc. Hem. The fried chicken was ok, apart from a burnt coating - the main was, indeed, blackened chicken, accompanied by a sausage I couldn't eat (too spicy). The chicken was tasty - the blackened coating was as pointless as you might expect. The rice was ok. In short, I didn't like it much, didn't rate the service (I had to ask twice for a second glass of wine, and she acted like it was the first time she'd heard it). I've had better food, and better service, elsewhere. I won't be back - why on earth would I?
Be the first to ReplyLovely weekend brunch
A lovely Saturday brunch at a transplanted New Orleans restaurant. Top quality food and live jazz. Great service without being intrusive.
Be the first to ReplyLovely service. Cold dinner twice.
Went here on a recommendation from a friend who’d been to live gigs here. Dinner ordered (plaice and a handful of almost tasteless new potatoes in a watery cream sauce) and the gumbo. Gumbo was hot and as expected but My plaice and spuds turned up cold. I had already taken my insulin so walking out was not an option and when the plate returned it was still cold. Really disappointed. Apologetic server the first time was lovely, but no one came to check after that. I won’t be back.
Be the first to ReplyOver priced and disappointing
Visited here as it was the only place we could find that does gumbo. I ordered gumbo for myself and my 15 year old. My younger 2 children had fries and one of them also had fried chicken. We all shared 1 cornbread, 1 crackling portion and ordered beignet desserts. I can’t believe the bill came to £100!!! I didn’t even order any alcohol. We all had one soft drink each! Anyway, this is more of a local pub than restaurant, it’s a bit rundown and very small. The portions were very small and the gumbo had a tiny portion of rice at the side. I’m a dog owner and love dogs, however, both tables next to us had dogs with them. People were coming in and out to drink at the bar right behind us with their dogs. Literally all I could smell was wet dog whilst eating. At one point our waitress was sat cross legged on the floor playing with the dogs in between serving us. First and last visit for us.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst breakfast ever
We waited about 1 hour for some burnt shapeless pancakes and cold overcooked poached eggs. Everything was cold and tasteless…I booked for my husband’s birthday weekend and it was a total disappointing…
Be the first to ReplyImpressive lunch.
Really very pleasant lunch. Nice location and ambience. Oysters are really very good indeed and are well priced. Mains of Soft Shell Crab and a Gumbo were very enjoyable. Good service. A decent place to visit, in my opinion.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
We visited for the Sunday jazz brunch to celebrate a special birthday. Unfortunately there was no jazz. Whilst we appreciate this may have been beyond the venue's control it was very disappointing as we had primarily gone for the music.
The service was friendly but incredibly slow. The food arrived at different times and one of the orders was not as advertised and had to be replaced despite the ingredients having been discussed beforehand. Given our experience of no jazz at an advertised jazz brunch and a shambles with the food order it was a shame that we had to ask for the bill to be adjusted to reflect the situation.
Neighbourhood hot spot
Fabulous food, great drinks and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome even with a dog and baby in tow.

Great oysters, Bloody Maries, great staff and great jazz. What could be better on a Sunday? We enjoyed everything and my dog was treated like royalty and liked the jazz too!

First time visit for my friends and I to Plaquemine Lock for the Jazz Brunch and definitely won’t be our last, would highly recommend to others! Can’t fault a thing, band were fantastic. Many thanks 😊
Be the first to ReplyJazz and Shrimp
A lovely Cajun themed pub with live jazz on Sundays and Tuesdays. In addition to great jazz, the food is reflective of the American South. Possibly the best shrimp I’ve ever eaten.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful evening
A quaint pub in a quiet part of Islington which specialises ìn Cajun cuisine and providing live music. Very attentive staff. Food was excellent and was enjoyed by all our party. Starters included devilled eggs as a starter, blackened chicken with rice and Cajun fries, jambalaya and some delicious shrimp dishes. This is a small intimate pub with a definite New Orleans feel. Live music on ithis occasion was from the talented Cinelli Brothers who encouraged audience participation. Bill for 5 people including drinks and a very good red wine came to about £280 and included a service charge. To be recommended.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food. Worth a visit
Very nice place. Cajun with a twist. Great oysters, raw and cooked. We did the Sunday brunch menu. Good bloody Maries.
Live jazz when we were there
Shambolic, amateurs, bookings mean nothing, no idea of customer service
We booked a table for 2 at 6.30 on Saturday 22/10/21 , confirmed by email. Arrived at 6.20 to be shown to a shelf above a radiator by the front door. I said, we booked a table, response yes but we're fully booked and you only booked today. No apology. We left , very annoyed spent £30 on taxis to get to and from
Be the first to ReplyThey do not care if you book a table, they won't give you a table
Wanted to try this place for a very long time and finally, we managed to book our table on a Saturday night for us and our friends. Once we got there, the waiter said there was no table available, even if we have booked. We were very puzzled considering some people has travelled like 50 mins to get here. He insisted that if we wanted to a table we had to wait 45 min to an hour.
No apologies, no emphaty, no client service.
Single diner given crappy place to sit
Whilst the food was ok, Creole influenced, it was disappointing as a solo diner to be stuck in the bar at a shelf rather than a proper table. Check where they are seating you when you book
