If you're a ramen enthusiast or seeking an extraordinary
If you're a ramen enthusiast or seeking an extraordinary dining experience, Ramen Wasabi is the ultimate destination. From the moment I entered this cozy establishment, I knew I was in for a treat. Ramen Wasabi not only met but exceeded my expectations, leaving me with an insatiable craving for their tantalizing bowls of ramen. The ambiance at Ramen Wasabi is warm and inviting, featuring intimate seating arrangements and subtle Japanese-inspired decor. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles, making me feel welcome from the start. The meticulous attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the carefully selected background music to the thoughtfully placed traditional Japanese artwork on the walls. The Spicy Roasted Garlic Miso ramen is a masterpiece, offering a delightful fusion of flavors and textures that dance on your palate. The egg noodles, cooked to perfection with an al dente texture, provide a satisfying chewiness that complements the rich and savory pork broth. This broth is a true testament to Ramen Wasabi's dedication to quality, as it exudes a remarkable depth of flavor. The standout component of this dish is the succulent and tender Berkshire pork belly, which practically melts in your mouth with each bite. Its rich and savory goodness adds an indulgent touch to the overall experience. The soft-boiled egg, with its luscious creamy yolk, provides a delightful contrast to the other ingredients. The inclusion of marinated bamboo shoots and bean sprouts adds a refreshing crunch to the dish, while the sesame, scallion, and garlic chips contribute subtle nuttiness and a delightful crispness. The sprinkling of chili threads adds a gentle kick of heat, perfectly enhancing the overall spicy flavor profile without overpowering the other elements. One aspect that impressed me greatly was the attention to detail in the presentation. Each bowl arrived artfully arranged, showcasing vibrant colors and enticing aromas. The generous portion size ensured that I left feeling fully satisfied. Ramen Wasabi has undoubtedly secured its place as a culinary gem. With its inviting ambiance, impeccable service, and unforgettable bowls of ramen, it has set a high standard for ramen establishments. Whether you're an avid ramen aficionado or simply curious to explore this delightful cuisine, Ramen Wasabi is a must-visit destination that will leave you yearning for more.

I came up from Indy to visit my daughter, she brought me here and I was really impressed. The Kimchi Pork Belly Spring rolls were delicious and my I had the Hakata Classic and it was so good and I even brought some home. We arrived 4 min till 5 to a small line. Totally worth it. Service was great, quick and efficient.
Be the first to ReplyGot the original tonkatsu.
It is a very basic ramen broth with char siu. I do like the char chiu, it's chunky compared to the usual flat ones. Pork belly baos were good the lettuce in it was unnecessary. Tokyo wings were good, but wings were small, not a lot of meat on them. Service was great. Place looked him. Not a lot of seating.

My friend and I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. The fried chicken was work every bite. I ended up getting the vegan ramen which had great flavor and the spiciness of it was on point. The service here was okay given how busy it was. The overall ambiance was pleasant the natural lighting made the experience more memorable. You can go wrong with ramen wasabi!
Be the first to ReplyThis is a very tiny place.
Thank God for the outside area where we were able to be seated immediately. While my sister went to the bathroom, I looked at the menu and decided that we were not staying. Most of the dishes are cooked in pork broth. I don't do pork! I did see one vegetarian option, but it didn't sound appetizing or appealing to me.

Great ramen place! I do recommend coming early for their dinner time. We came 20-30 mins past 5pm and had to be on wait list. On the plus side there's a cute book store or thrift store across the street to pass time!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is hilarious.
Everyone says it's incredible but it's really hard to get a reservation. One time I tried to walk in and they said the wait is about two hours, and we won't call you to let you know. So we walked across the street to a sushi restaurant that's new in the area - Nomonomo Sushi - and I recommend that to people now.

Very very good, but for us, not "best in Chicago" or worth the parking hassle. We got the karaage, gyoza, seaweed salad, katsu don, and 2 kinds of ramen. The karaage was quite good, esp the togarashi mayo dip. The tonkatsu broth was super rich and had lots of umami. The chashu meat was outstanding and you get a thick slab of it in your soup. But overall the food was incredibly salty. Note: If coming for dinner on Friday/weekend you MUST arrive soon after they open at 5 pm. Otherwise you will never find nearby parking (all the side streets are permit and Milwaukee Ave fills up fast). And, you'll have to wait outside to be seated. There isn't room to wait inside.

When it's cold and raining and I want a good bowl of ramen and great service this is my go to! Now it's not easy on the budget but for the quality and quantity of food you receive I think it's more than worth it! The karage is my always as ordering goes, and the tonkatsu or shoyu ( without fish chips) are great! The poke is surprisingly good but has too many onions for my liking so I get it without! The ambiance is welcoming enough to eat here comfortably solo! Love it love it!
Be the first to ReplyIt was about time I tried the number one ramen in Chicago.
Idk what took me so long, but I finally ate at Wasabi. Here's a heads up, there's already a line outside the restaurant waiting before they open, so be on time or be ready to wait. They open at 5:00pm, and by 5:20 pm the whole place was already packed, and people were waiting by the door. I went with husband and my brother and we were so happy and impressed about everything we ate. We had the Karage as an appetizer, it was juicy and very flavorful. The mayo that came with it was delicious. My husband and I shared one ramen and my brother had his own. We both the original tonkatsu ramen with pork belly, but my brother substituted his with chicken. Both were very delicious, a very rich porky flavor broth and just explodes in your mouth. We also tried their tuna poke bowl and that too was very great. Costumer service was also good nothing out of the world but our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were ok. The place is very nice decorated, my favorite thing of the place was the middle triangle table that can sit up to 8 people. I loved it. The place is also very family friendly so bring your kids. Highly recommend this amazing ramen.

I've heard really good things about Ramen Wasabi from friends. My little sister and I decided to try them on a Sunday afternoon. The inside is not too big and since it was lunch time, it was starting to get packed. We got a cute little table, perfect for two, by the window. The servers were all super nice too. On the other hand, the food was pretty average. We got the the pork belly buns small plate to start. They were sweet, tangy, and the buns were pillowy soft. On another note, there is a strong mayonnaise taste from the sauce (definitely more western inspired flavors). We got the Spicy Garlic Miso Ramen and the Hakata Red Ramen. Overall, they were good, with a decent amount of toppings and a good kick of spice. However, they were both super salty. We felt that if the broth wasn't that salty, other flavors could have shined more.
Be the first to ReplyRamen is always on point! That pork belly is to die for.
If you're looking for a new ramen place, you've found it.
Be the first to ReplyCame in around 8:30pm on a Tuesday.
We were seated within a couple of minutes. I started with their sesame cocktail which was great. We tried the takoyaki, pork buns and the nuggets (karage). The takoyaki was the winner, it was very hot (burned myself but my fault) and delicious. There was mayo dressing, Japanese bbq sauce and bonito flakes over the balls and they were very soft and creamy on the inside, I recommend this app over the others. I ordered the Spicy Roasted Garlic Miso ramen. I didn't love the noodles but the broth was just perfect. I would order this again. The pork belly was tender and tasty, they were sliced thick, too. All of the toppings melded together nicely. We also had some chocolate mochi which tasted just like a choc milkshake to me. I tried my companions Hakata Red ramen and it was too spicy for my liking. Service, food and ambiance combined this place is worth more visits in the future. Keep in mind that they don't take reservations so timing your visit during slower hours will get you seated sooner.
Be the first to ReplyIf it was just based on food I would give it five.
This is my absolute favorite Ramen in the city. However the service is subpar and they can be very slow even when it's not busy. They also charge you for everything. I've gotten chili oil from other Ramen places for free but they'll charge you for it at wasabi as well as if you ask For extra of one item in the Ramen instead of another. And they don't yell you about the charges.
Be the first to ReplyFood is good.
Service is good you just gotta make sure you call ahead during the week if you wanna go during dinner time and check to see if there is a wait, place is small. We got sat at the "community table"which I was not a fan of, everyone can hear your conversation. There was a couple sitting next to me and the gf had the most annoying voice ever (I'm sorry) and I couldn't stand it anymore so I rushed to eat and left as fast as I could lol. Otherwise place is good!

This is our 2nd time here and it was just as amazing as the first. The smells that greet you when you come in let you know that flavors are developing here. You can't go wrong with the original ramen or the pork buns. There is a bit of a wait and they don't take reservations. But if you go in there knowing that, you will be fine. We had great service both times we were there. It can get pretty busy and the staff have quite a bit to juggle. But ours were very attentive and helpful when we had questions. I definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAlways packed but worth the wait.
One of my top places for ramen and appetizers! Loved every single one. The Brussel sprouts were a little too sour and soggy tho. My only complaint. Otherwise, it's good portions and the taste is on point. Will always come back here!
Be the first to ReplyI had been waiting to visit this place for a long time.
I had waited half and hour as they won't do reservations. A Cozy place with good music.I had a vegan ramen and chicken broth ramen, fried chicken buns, and Brussels sprouts and Moscow mule. The ramens were good and I loved chicken fried buns and would definitely visit again just for them. Drinks were okay, would not recommend for just drinks. The wait would be worth if you ain't hungry or getting late for something

Have successfully converted multiple people over to the beauty of Ramen Wasabi. So worth it to visit in the summer, where they have more outdoor seating options so the wait is less of a barrier.Because they only do walk-ins, careful to time when to go, and expect a 30 min - 1 hr wait during prime dinner times (6-8pm).All their ramens are incredible. Found my favorite is the spicy garlic miso soup : )

Highly recommend spending some time here.

Very tasty! The best tonkotsu ramen that I have had around Chicago so far. Will definitely revisit!
Be the first to Replyworst service ever.
they sat us down and no one came to service us for over 30mins till we decided to leave. hardly anyone there but said "they're busy". Never going back to this place.

This place is adorable! We sat inside but they do also have a big covered patio outside as well. I got the vegan poke bowl and I was a little nervous at first because some places aren't good at vegan versions of food but this was amazing! Lots of flavor and a very refreshing light meal.
