Great atmosphere.
Great food. Agree with one review that meat & poultry could use improvement in the butchering department.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a great blend of European cuisine and American service.
The staff are attentive, but not pushy; suggestive, but not assertive. And that matters. We were a business dinner party. The variety of food was incredible. The portions were more than ample even for our heartier chow-down colleagues. If you're like me and want some lighter fare, it's there, too. Regardless, no one goes home hungry. The wine selection is a yard long. And the staff seem to know all the right pairings. Again without pushing anything on you. So, pick your favorite European village. Recall your best meal there and the 5 star service. Now, without boarding a plane, come here. Bon Appetit!
Be the first to ReplyWent here on a Saturday evening with my family.
Had a good variety of food. Clams casino were decent, French onion soup was excellent. Ny strip cooked to perfection. Rack of lamb special was excellent. Chicken parm was a little on the small side. But good. Crabby pasta was excellent. Wife had the crispy lobster over bucatini which was so good she is still talking about it. We had a lobster Mac and cheese which probably could have used a little more cheese. I had the Zuppa de Pesce which was excellent. Classy atmosphere and our waitress was Ali who was excellent and helpful with any questions about the menu. Would definitely recommend and return.

Always a pleasure, good food and service, convenient to where we live and a cool vibe. Definitely part of our dining roster. Great to get apps and drinks ; I like to go before the dinner rush!

Food is always terrific and service is outstanding. Elegant, casual horse themed atmosphere - great for dates or hang with friends. Good TVs for sports watching.

Me and my husband were beyond exciting to finally have a date night. With busy schedules and a toddler we don't often get the chance. I wish we could go back in time and chose a different restaurant because this place was awful. The service was the worst I've ever had. It took forever to get our menus, then our first drink took 30min. We never got a basket of bread that every other table had. We never got our appetizer, until we mentioned it finally and the waitress looked surprised- more like oops I forgot to put it in. No apologies. The food was so so, My husbands salmon was the only thing that had good flavor, and the cheesecake at the end. My filet of sole Francese was dry and the sauce bland. our second round of drinks took forever as well and when we did get them they were made wrong. couldn't find our waitress per usual, so asked a busser to fix it. He was way more prompt and came back with our corrected drinks before the waitress ever came to check on us. Then our $30 appetizer comes in the middle of our entrees. At this point we really didn't care to have it as we were half way through our entrees. Again no apologies. Our water was never refilled and when my husband asked for more water we never got any. You would have thought they would take off a round of drinks or the appetizer but nothing was adjusted. We get out dessert and considering this waitress took forever with everything we decided to ask for our check that moment. We waited another 20min for our check. We were there for 3 HOURS, and not willingly. We had plans for after that we had to forego because dinner took forever. There were tables leaving and coming throughout our time there in the more competent waitress' section. Who we acknowledged being very attentive to her tables. It was incredibly disappointing and after 17 years in the hospitality industry, this waitress was the worst I've seen and took no accountability or effort in saving face of the customers experience. We will never come here again. There are way better restaurants in CT.

We have to say how disappointed and Disgusted i am with the treatment we received by the staff.. We made a reservation for my birthday. My husband called twice and NO one told him it was a fixed menu. We get there to find this out. The waitresses was like no one told yoh when you made the reservation my husband said no and he called two. I could not eat most of the food on thw menu l. She said I'll get the manager. We waited no on came to the table. We got up to leae. I said something to the hostest about a manager not coming to see us and she had the nerve to say they are walking around talking to more important people than you. This was our first time coming to your restaurant and it was for my birthday how insulting. I so so upset as i was so looking forward to eat here. I received an email from the owner apologies on the issue and he would send us a gift card. Well No response back from nor the gft card. Do not recommend this place at all especially wit the rudeness of the Hostest.
Be the first to ReplyWe made an 8pm reservation through Open Table.
We arrived at 8. We weren't sure where to check in, but the friendly bartender (sorry, I forgot her name) told us to check in at the hostess desk around the bend. We waited there. few minutes and then a young guy came over. He told us it would be about 10-15 more minutes. We sat at the bar to wait out our time and have a drink. She was very friendly and helpful. About 15 minutes later, another couple came in and were seated pretty much right away. Then 5 minutes later another couple came in and was seated right away, all by the same guy that had us waiting at the bar. I thought that was pretty rude. The Bartender must have heard me say something to my husband. She spoke to a manager and had us seated a few minutes later. Thankfully she was paying attention, or I think we would have been waiting all night. Ali was our server and was very attentive, knowledgable and friendly. Our food was very good. I would go back for the regular menu to try out new things. Hopefully those checking people in will be more attentive next time. oh and the manager did comp our bar drinks, which was a nice surprise.

The food was simply Delicious and great service with a smile! All that we ordered was done so well and seasoned perfectly, from the soup, salad and the fish! Dessert was excellent too! The food came quickly and they do not rush you through your meal!

Be the first to ReplyOverall, it was good.
Prices were a bit high for what we got in my opinion. Nothing was wrong with any of the food, just nothing spectacular. Ambience is nice. I think it would be nicer if the TVs were not on to have a more upscale vibe.
Be the first to ReplyOk let me first start by saying our waitress was awesome.
I believe her name was AlI. Young blonde. I hope she gets this. I had my whole meal planned til she came over and sold me in the specials. She told me who delicious and she gave us her honest recommendations. She nailed everything! We got the calamari Burrata clams casino crab cakes and French onion soup. Nothing disappointed. I got the lobster special which was awesome. The rest of the pet got chicken parm which the portion is huge. NY strip cooked to perfection with delicious mashed potatoes and bacon wrapped asparagus. And finally the Zuppa seafood. Excellent. Desserts rice pudding which my companions like. My husband had tiramisu which was delicious and once again I got the special warm cook dessert because AlI told me how good it was. She did not lie. My friends and I met in the middle of where we live. I'm an hour away from this restaurant and I Will absolutely be back!

Romantic setting. Sangria yummy and food was delicious. Nice touch with the complementary chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day. Overall great experience.

There's a lot to like about this little restaurant up a hill, perched on the border of New Fairfield and Danbury. It's an upscale casual spot where you can dress up or down as you wish. It'd be a perfect spot for a first date, with lovely, gracious servers to smooth over any awkwardness as needed. (My Pardner joked that you could use the TVs to weed out dates who were more interested in the football game than you.) Serving sizes are substantial, all sauces from this kitchen expertly prepared. We really enjoyed a starter of crispy Brussels sprouts ($16; with crispy prosciutto, roasted pistachios & drizzle fig glaze). The tiny sprouts had been pre-roasted and reheated, so they were inevitably a bit softer than ideal. (That perfect crispy texture degenerates quickly, unfortunately. I battle the same issue every single Thanksgiving.) But there were plenty of caramelized bits, a nice sprinkling of pancetta. The glaze was a touch too sweet for my personal tastes (the Pardner and our younger child disagreed), but overall the textures and flavors were in wonderful balance. The roasted beet salad ($15; roasted red and golden beets served with crispy baby arugula, avocado, grape tomatoes & roasted almonds tossed in balsamic vinegar dressing) was also well made, with excellent ingredients in good balance. I was less impressed with the oysters of the day ($3.50 each, served with mignonette; provenance unknown). The oysters themselves were sweet and meaty -- probably two-year-olds -- but they were not well shucked. Some had shell fragments and none came with any liquor in the shell. The adductor muscle hadn't been severed for serving, either. Our mains were excellent across the board. Organic salmon ($36; organic salmon served in honey mustard glace, grilled asparagus & herbs risotto) was generously portioned, quite fresh, and perfectly moist with crispy edges. It came over an absolutely delicious risotto, beautifully flavored with a complex medley of fresh herbs. Note that the texture of the rice was a bit crunchy in the middle--a bit less cooked than al dente, which I guess is the gold standard. But the flavors were so fabulous I didn't have trouble gobbling everything down. A half chicken scarpariello ($26; sautรฉ of peppers, onions, Johnny's hot and sweet sausage, fingerling potatoes, pepperoncini peppers served in white wine brown sauce) was one of the best versions of the dish we've had in a while. The chicken was extremely moist. It may have been underseasoned by itself, but it married exceptionally well with the silky onions and peppers, juicy sausages, crisp fingerlings and delicious pan sauce. Our older one has discovered that he's something of a carnivore and ordered the 10 oz fillet mignon ($40; served with roasted garlic whipped potato, sautรฉ broccoli & our home made demi-glace). It came with sauteed spinach rather than broccoli, to his disappointment. The greens were slightly tough, not as silky and lovely as a version we recently swooned over at Carriage House -- but that whipped potato was all classically buttery deliciousness, the filet mignon prepared medium rare as requested. I liked that the kitchen was relatively light-handed with the salt, allowing the quality of the meat to take center stage. Unfortunately our younger one ordered the plain ol' spaghetti marinara ($8) from the children's menu, despite our best efforts to interest her in something else on the regular menu. The dish doesn't showcase the restaurant's strengths, but it was fine, the house-made sauce very similar to our homemade versions prepared with good canned tomatoes. We were sure to save room for dessert, of course, and a chocolate mousse cake ($10) was fair, the mousse and ganache delectable, the cake a touch dry. Two large cannoli ($12) were inhaled before I could blink even though the primary consumer had just eaten most of the generous sized cut of filet mignon, so I assume it was delicious. The Pardner enjoyed his tiramisu. There's a lot of skill in this kitchen. We'll surely be back soon -- just not for the oysters.

A recent trip to Vermont skiing had me make a pit-stop in Danbury, CT. So we decided to try Rein again to see how they were doing. Needless to say, they did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in we were greet with a friendly welcome from the hostess. We decided to sit at the bar, and the bartenders, Jared and Dani made us feel at home. The drinks, were fabulous, a Manhattan for me, and an Espresso Martini for my Wife. On to appetizers and soup. Both the Italian Wedding soup and New England clam chowder were absolutely outstanding, flavors were perfect. Next, eggplant rollatini and burrata salad, fantastic. My entree was the Filet Oscar, and my Wife had the Lamb Chops, both cooked as ordered and simply delicious!Treat yourself, and stop in to Rein.
Be the first to ReplyClose but no cigar for coming back.
Environment: Staff was fine, pretty loud acoustics for the crowd. Food: The bread rolls could of been good if fresher, otherwise tasteless. Calamari was over-fried and tasteless, along with a tasteless marinara dipping sauce. The pork steak was alittle tough and tasteless, and the mushroom sauce didnt help much (maybe add some Madera wine to it). The smashed potatoes with the entree were great. My wife's salmon and risotto were quite good. The red wine was quite good too, but the expresso martini was pretty lame.

Amazing ambience, excellent and attentive service, great food. They have that wonderful and rare ability to offer a great dining experience that still makes you feel as comfortable as if you were dining at home with friends.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful atmosphere amazing brunch.
Best drinks in New Fairfield. A hoping bar scene. And since we prefer a more quite meal, we'll probably always sit in the restaurant side. Convenient to the lake and Danbury. Food is always AMAZING. We've tried the flank steak w Gorgonzola (prob our fav) the pork chop, the brunch waffles and egg Benedict with crab cakes the Bloody Mary is fabulous. Always friendly and quick to respond. Definitely going on the reg.

We were looking for a quick lunch and service was prompt. Not very busy when we were there. Wait staff were great, right on top of everything. Definitely recommend...

...I give 10s across the board. But since this is Yelp, I'll have to settle for five stars. What a wonderful treat our visit to Rein Osteria was. We had a hankering from some seafood but our usual go to place over in Carmel is closed for the season so I did some searching on Yelp and Rein popped up. I took a quick peek at the menu and one look told me that this could be a great option so I booked a reservation. From the outside, Rein looks warm and inviting and that feeling continues when you walk in. The room is beautiful, big and airy. It's lively but not overly loud so the noise issue that some earlier reviewers mention has seemed to have been remedied. The staff from start to finish was great, really top notch. We were seated fairly quickly and had a great table by the window and our amazing server popped by to check in. We quickly had water, bread and my Hold The Reins Old Fashioned. We started with the incredible Brussels Sprouts and a shrimp cocktail. Those sprouts really do deserve all the raves they get. And the shrimp cocktail was terrific too...jumbo shrimp and a delightful cocktail sauce. For my entree I had the crabmeat stuffed sole over vegetables and it was outstanding. I enjoyed every bite. The fish was tender and the crabmeat was delicious. The sauce was light and perfect...really a great dish. My husband had the branzino which he loved as well. My compliments to the chef for everything.Along the way I had an apple pie cocktail which was perfect for the fall season and then I tried a pumpkin spice cocktail for dessert which was equally amazing. Kudos to the bar staff for creating such delicious cocktails that complimented the mood of the season so well.Although we're trying not to overeat these days, we decided to split a piece of the pumpkin cheesecake which was also amazing. The entire meal was really terrific and we were already discussing the five star reviews we were planning on giving Rein when a manager stopped by to chat and see how our meal was. We shared our wonderful experience and when the bill came, saw that we got our dessert and a drink on the house, which was lovely and then made me wish we could give the restaurant six stars.Rein will definitely be going into our restaurant rotation. We spend most of the week in Manhattan and usually are in Danbury only on the weekends but we'll be back and I can't wait to take visiting friends to show them another example of the exceptional dining that can be found here.

Finally got to try this place after driving by it for months while it was being renovated. It was a 5 star experience from the moment my husband and I walked in the door. Gorgeous place, fabulous food and excellent service. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyWe had dinner there last night (a Thursday).
The service was great as was the food. So why a 2-star rating you ask? BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HEAR THE PERSON SITTING ACROSS THE TABLE FROM YOU!We were seated as far away as possible from the 2-person acoustic guitar live entertainment in the bar area. It was impossible to have a discussion or to interact with the wait staff. Our departing thoughts: (1) The owners should decide if they want to operate a loud bar or an upscale restaurant and (2) It would take a significant change for us to want to return.
Be the first to ReplyI ate 3-4 times when this site was Ondine.
Anticipated the new restaurant when I saw the sign outside a few months go. Ondine was good.Ate at Rein 8/2/22; had the strawberry & spinach salad which was good...BUT they forgot to add the strawberries. They bought some out. OK. Had the salmon entrรฉe; they were nice to replace the risotto with another veggie w/o an extra charge. The salmon was very slightly overcooked; tolerable. Fish is so hard to time, ya think. The mustard glaze was good. I had a Ketel One bloody Mary. I asked if they used premix tomato juice. They said, "Yes, but we add to it." IT SUCKED. I could taste the horrible premix...YUCK...!!! I should have made it..!!!Today (8/4/22) a friend & I had lunch there. There's not much to choose on their menu for lunch that's all that appealing. My friend was satisfied with her lunch choice & had the cheesecake dessert. $10.00 for the cheesecake; showed up on the bill as $11.00. WATCH YOUR CHECKS/BILLS...!!!I had the strawberry & spinach salad again. This time they neglected to add the candied pecans....!!!! LMBO...they bought some out. YA THINK...I had the fish & chips entrรฉe. (I've had fish & chips in London & elsewhere.) French fries...I kinda expected "steak fries". French fries OK. The so-called codfish on the outside was a nice, deep golden colour; looked good. The fish was NOT cooked & the temp of the fish was lukewarm...NOT HOT AT ALL...!!! WTH I told the waitress. She asked if I wanted to return it to the kitchen. I told her, "No. I'll bring it home & cook it." I mean, like, it smelled ok.My friend & I had a brief discussion why food is NOT returned to the kitchen. I've heard horror stories about this. ANYHOW, I was gonna have another of their Ketel One bloody Marys but I was gonna ask if I could make it. LOL Instead I had a "Hugo" served with brown, yellow sh*tty looking mint leaves. SERIOUSLY...!!!! SMH...is this for real....Their espresso is $6.00 for a single. REALLY...???? OH, cooked the fish a few minutes ago. This fish did NOT cook like cod. I've been hanging around Montauk most my life. I know fish. This fish was too "juicy/watery"...reminded me of monkfish by the way it cooked & would NOT flake apart when heated through. I heated it in the microwave twice. Once for 1 minute, 15 seconds, still did NOT appear cooked. Then microwaved for another 1 minute...it appeared cooked this time; did NOT dry out...hmmmm.Rein is too expensive for the quality of the food served. The staff were very nice, though; the ONE STAR rating. HOWEVER, will NOT be back. UGH...!!!
