Worth the effort to get a reservation!
It took me months to get a table here! In the end I booked from England on the day they released new bookings. The restaurant is strangely situated under what I am told is the Passport Office! You walk in to a compact space with a tiny kitchen in full view in the centreโฆI like that. We had booked the 7 course tasting menu and decided on the wine flight too. Without gushing over everything, the food was fantastic and the wine was very interesting-not your usual choices maybe? The staff were pretty young and very dedicated/enthusiatic. Julie was always there keeping an eye, but all the staff were very relaxed, which I think he.ps the guests to relax too? We were surprised that Julie served some of the dishes herself and she obviously takes great pride in her suppliers. If there were high points, they were the seafood dishes, but it would not help to describe them as the menu changes very rapidly. All in all, we could see how it got the *. Thanks Julie and the team for a great evening.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful experience at this Michelin star restaurant
Our first time at this new Michelin star restaurant in Toronto right downtown. We have been to a few Michelin star restaurants in various locations all over the world. This one was relaxed and friendly and the food was a complete pleasure. There were 7 courses with wine pairings. Each course had unique and wonderful flavours. The wine pairings were creative (I recommend them - 5 glasses of wine for an additional $100 seems like a great deal to me). We enjoyed the entire experience, the food, the pleasant conversation with the chefs and staff (they made a point of speaking to us) and the service was wonderful. We commend them for including the tip in the overall price as well. Highly recommended.

OMG!! 5 stars aren't enough. From the owner Chris greeting us personally at the door, even though it was our first trip. Then Chef Julie serving us one of her masterpieces, and thanking us. It was a delight. Each course was fabulous. I loved the Dungeness crab croquette and the scallop; my husband the beef tartare. The menu changes daily, so you will have to go and see. Everything is fabulous, and a tip - you can ask for seconds of the bread.

Some of the best food you will have the pleasure of eating in this fair city. The cuisine showcases the best produce and ingredients this country has to offer, prepared in a way that is both unfussy yet deeply nuanced and utterly sexy. Superlative service, accompanied by an excellent wine list.
Be the first to ReplyA special occasion kind of place
Ignore the bitter review from the person who obviously didn't understand what kind of restaurant this is. This is a special restaurant with just a single tasting menu that changes regularly. It's very expensive and it also served me one of the best meals I've ever had. Everything is made and served with care. The wine pairings are quite interesting and tasty. The service is attentive and un pretentious. Save up your money and go for a special experience.
Be the first to ReplyNot inexpensive, but worth every cent!
An excellent night all-around! Wonderful service from Chris and staff and an absolutely delicious five or six course tasting menu (with choice of main and dessert). Splurge and get the wine pairing as well - Dana is an expert. Not inexpensive, but worth every cent! Can't wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyMinuscule joint....Massive attitude !
I stopped by Restaurant 20 Victoria at 3:05 this afternoon. I politely informed a woman at the entrance that I live down the street and would like to see a menu either in print form or on a tablet etc. She told me that they don't have a menu of any kind. I told her that I'm planning a gathering - seeking a patio. Since no menu information is available, I asked her what might be served for an onsite patio gathering for four customers. She curtly exclaimed "Perhaps this is not the place for you" and suggested that I "try Mercatto around the corner on Toronto Street" as it may be "more for you". (Because she knows me so well!) Stunned, I asked her to confirm the current name of her establishment for the record as zero signage was present. She flatly refused to provide the name and walked away. Insulting and indeed condescending to be sure. NB...Her asinine comments were delivered just MERE HOURS following the resurrection of outdoor foodservice operations locally AND only days after a local print reporter quoted co-owner Chris White as saying; "We have been sitting on our 20 Victoria space since last June. Weโve just been waiting". "The pandemic forced us to take a year and a half to stare at our lives and think about what we want them to look like." "We just want to be restaurant people". "Then everything stopped. We watched our industry get ripped out of our hands overnight". Okay pal. Want to be classy"restaurant people"? Want to recover your nil income since June 2020? etc. etc? Start by informing your snobby staff that COVID-19 has been a DISASTER for restaurants. Tell them that "Half of restaurants may not survive the summer". (Restaurants Canada-June 17, 2021) Notify your employees that hundreds of thousands of F&B jobs have been destroyed - many forever. Oh, and by the way, there is no Mercatto "around the corner".
