We dined at Le Loup Blanc yesterday as a group of eight and everyone of us was pretty happy with their food choices. Servers spoke good English, service was a bit slow but the restaurant was busy and by now we take is as normal French way, allowing us plenty of time to have a conversation. I ordered entreรฉ (foie gras), plat (prawns) and dessert (cafรฉ et gourmandises) for โฌ38, be aware that they charged extra โฌ3 for cappuccino instead of espresso. Because of it and because prawns were a bit overlooked I'm not giving it five stars. Other than that, fish was excellent, steak delicious, desserts tasty.

I am shocked by the bad review I just read, but it was over a year ago and perhaps changes occurred since then. We were five dinners for lunch and all of us had the menu of the day, a two course meal with main and dessert. The plat du jour was a brochette of magret de canard, duck breast, perfectly cooked on the grill. Very flavorful and tender. We all loved it. The dessert, a chocolate lava cake topped with raspberry sorbet, finished the meal quite nicely. The cost 21โฌ pp. The plat came with pommes frites and a light salad. My one caveat on the fries is that we asked for bien cuit and the result was a bit floppy in the British style. We had a bottle of bubbly Perrier and two of us had wine, the red a Gigondas (5.50) and a white..my husband, forget the varietal. Grape. Two cute little bottles of a Marseille boutique beer very reasonably priced. The final coffee was unremarkable which happens in a restaurant that is not a cafe.Service was a bit uneven and somewhat slow, especially the ordering part, but it was well meaning. We parted happy (the waitress speaksEnglish well, should you need that).Le Loup Blanc is on the road approaching the main circle in town, approximately across from the Bastide de Gordes. There is a sign that directs one down a short passage to the (protected) terrace. Parking is on the far side of the circle near the (1) chateau or lacking that (2) near the post office and Utile. We all told our friends about Le Loup Blanc and would dine there again.

Gordes is one of my all time favorite places in the world, but I have not yet found a restaurant that I love there. Le loup blanc was no exception. While this restaurant itself is not without it's charm (you feel like you are in a really cool cave), and the food is fairly good, the service here made it a less than wonderful experience. We started off with the waitress asking my brother to move his chair for fear he would "break the door". After waiting for 10 minutes we asked the waitress if we could order a bottle of wine - she politely said yes, and then left.. not to return for another 10 minutes. It was actually funny. We then ordered appetizers to share - we are Americans and this is common at home.. not so in France. She actually sneered at us when we asked for spoons to serve with. That being said, 4 out of 5 of us enjoyed our meal. The only complaint was from my sister who's steak looked good, but was tough as nails. I plan to return to Gordes for sure, but definitely not to Le loupe blanc.

Don't come here. My husband and I absolutely love French food and have never had such awful food and service. My husband's steak tartare was mediocre at best. And my seared tuna came out medium well (and was well done in some portions) despite my husband previously confirming in French that the tuna would be done "toute rose" (all pink). Interestingly, the French couple who sat next to us also ordered the tuna, and received a nice thick piece cooked medium rare. We kindly and politely informed the waitress that my tuna was overcooked, and we pointed to our neighbors' tuna as a point of comparison. (Confirming that we weren't being overly critical, our neighbors told us that they also thought my tuna was overcooked.) The waitress took my plate back to the kitchen and came back to our table almost immediately, informing us that the chef refused to give me a non-overcooked piece of tuna. The message she conveyed was that our neighbors' tuna was thicker, so it made sense that theirs was less well done. In my opinion, no respectable chef should take that position; it should be obvious that if a piece of tuna is thinner, you simply shouldn't cook it as long as you would a thicker piece. We again expressed dissatisfaction when we paid the bill (after I had barely touched the overcooked, tasteless tuna). The chef came out to reiterate what the waitress had told us--i.e., my tuna was cooked the way it was because he had given me a thinner piece. He was inexcusably unapologetic. It's clear that this is a tourist restaurant, and that the chef has no interest in ensuring he has happy, repeat diners. If you want good food and good service, please look elsewhere.
