Special Occasion. Elegant, yet casual. OK, so Oaxen Slip is definitely a gorgeous restaurant. It's right be the water, which is an added bonus. And the service is great too. The problem is, that the food is only so-so. And the prices are pretty high too. Here are my ratings: Food: 3/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Value: 3/5 We were greeted by a very friendly staff, and opted for a seat on the patio because it was a beautiful day and we wanted to be by the water. But the patio was over-crowded and the table was placed in the middle of a walkway. Not a great start. But we were moved to a different table promptly. The food turned out to be rather disappointing. And there weren't too many options either, especially for fish. Here are the details. Bread basket - 5/5. Excellent bread with some nice home-churned butter. Mackerel Appetizer (SEK 175) - 2/5. This dish was a total flop. It was tiny morsels of fish, sitting at the bottom of a bowl covered by what appeared to be veggie foliage. I had to dig past the foliage to get to the tiny morsels of fish. And it was expensive for what you get. The only redeeming quality was the nice citrus dressing. Charcuterie (SEK 95) - 2/5. Yet another flop. The dish consisted only of salami (which was very mediocre) and some other cured meat (which was pretty tasty). But there was nothing else, no cheese not even a pickle. At least the price was reasonable. Fish Special (SEK 345) - 3/5. The fish wasn't a great fish. It was very bony. And it was served with a cream sauce that was way too salty. And if that wasn't salty enough, there were slices of chewy pancetta which was even saltier. We skipped on desert. Having said that, I think that this restaurant is still worth a visit if only for the great ambiance.

We grabbed two appetizers, the lamb, and three sides at Oaxen Slip after checking out the sculptures in the park. The dishes were executed well but not quite the flavor for the price or the hype. Service was lovely though and wine list was great. And there was a bar dog with another guest which is always a plus. Note that the cocktail list and bar were pretty sparse.

They were able to fit us in for my husband's birthday celebration which we really appreciated. We split the ribeye with bone marrow. Was super yummy. I wish they would've served bread with the marrow as that's how I like to eat it. Other than that it was a good experience and we'd go back. I wouldn't recommend for children, and my kids eat everything.
Be the first to ReplyCame here after spending the day at the museums.
It was recommended by a friend and we managed to snag a couple of bar seats since all the tables were booked! Great ambiance and view of the slip. Ordered - Grog (lemonades with different spirits) - w/ gin & ginger (5/5), mint & rum (4/5)- Smoked prawns with garlic aioli (5/5)- Herring with warm potato salad and egg (5/5)- Grilled duck breast with black currant (5/5)- Fries with smoked aioli (4/5)- Dessert crumble with thyme ice cream (4/5)Everything was amazing! One of my favorite places in Stockholm.
Be the first to ReplyMouth watering awesomeness.
Can't wait until my next visit to Stockholm so I can work my way through the menu. Or I might just arrange to have the chef kidnapped and brought to San Diego so that I can avoid the long haul flight!
Be the first to ReplyWhat an amazing place.
Located in a converted boathouse and absolutely beautiful. The menu is well balanced and approachable yet still inspired. We let the server order for us and she did an amazing job. Recommend the roasted whole turbot if available.

Decided to stop by at ~noon before visiting the Vasa Museum, but was told that there was no availability until after 2pm, even though you could see into the dining room and there were plenty of tables. We were pretty disappointed, but my BF was able to get a reservation at 1:15pm online.. so not quite sure if they just didn't want to accommodate tourists???? In any case, once we actually got a table, the experience was great. The servers were gracious in answering our questions about the food and the restaurant. The lunch specials were very well priced and delicious. Unfortunately, we had to rush out to check out of our hotel, otherwise, this would be a great spot to have a couple more drinks and enjoy the fabulous view and ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyJust came here for lunch and ate the best crab of my life.
A bit on the pricey side, but well worth it.
Be the first to ReplyAl fresco dining at the old ship building area.
Great fresh food, we had numerous small plates. Started with a glass of champagne, had a beer and bottle of white wine. Dinner for 4 was 3,000 kroner. But a good meal, great service, good ambiance.

The more casual cousin of Michelin 2* Oaxen Krog it was for Brunch that two sat out on a shaded patio at Oaxen Slip, the popular spot for locals as well as tourists offering a meal that was decent, though not so much in terms of value.Described best as a Bistro, the location along water looking out on Beckholmen undoubtedly part of Oaxen's appeal as boats occasionally move across one's gaze en route to open water, it was shortly after the Restaurant opened that seating was nearly full, a small staff providing service that would generously be called deliberate with "slow" a less pleasant description.Lined by suspended ships on the inside with nature doing al fresco duties in early Swedish Spring, complimentary Bread and good local Butter quick to arrive, it was after a lengthy delay that orders were placed, the limited weekend menu first providing a hemisected Sandwich topped in creamy Pork Spread along with melted Cheese, Mayonnaise and forgivingly mild Sauerkraut.Easily finishing the opening volly in a few bites each, a delay dividing this from more Food not unpleasant given the setting despite being inexplicable for Charcuterie, it was all-together that Pork Neck and house-aged Ham arrived alongside pickled Green Tomatoes ruined by Horseradish plus crisp French Fries and creamy Foie Gras hidden beneath Salad, the waitress' claim that Ketchup was unavailable when trying to sell 30 SEK Mayonnaise immediately disproved when a table of regulars received a ramekin that an alternative server was happy to provide.Rounding things out with Dessert, an e-mail days prior inquiring about the dinner Bread Pudding stating it could not be ready for Brunch, it was fortunate that Carrot Cake topped in Cream Cheese Frosting and Nuts was excellent because the flat Banana Bread beneath smooth Coconut Ice Cream and Lemon Marmalade so bitter it had to be removed most certainly was not.
Be the first to ReplyI loved this place.
My only regret is that I didn't have room for dessert!
Be the first to ReplyI just don't think I'm a big fan of Scandinavian food
I just don't think I'm a big fan of Scandinavian food (sorry!! see below) but Oaxen Slip prepares Scandinavian food beautifully and I'm glad I got to try my first taste here. Like other reviews mention, it's a great place to grab a bite after a day at the museums on Djurgården! I had the norrøna herring with brown butter, warm potato salad, chopped egg & apple. Herring is really salty, but it was nicely balanced with the potato salad. But, I just can't say that I love herring. I also ordered a side of roasted tomatoes. I like what they tried to do with the texture (adding nuts for a bit of a crunch) and other elements to balance out acidity. My friends had the Roasted brioche with 63° egg, paprika-spiced sausage & hollandaise sauce, which seems like a version of eggs benedict. They were disappointed by the portion size relative to the price, but honestly that's all of Sweden for ya! The bread was fantastic. Service was great - even though we sat at the bar. Make a reservation in advance on their website. Lastly - like most Swedish places, takes card only!
