Had a wonderful experience visiting the Italian/Croatian
Had a wonderful experience visiting the Italian/Croatian fusion restaurant Rose Mary, located in the heart of Fulton Market! From the decadent black truffle/parsnip agnolotti, to the fresh flavors of the tuna crudo and scampi na buzzara, to the crispy textures of the zucchini fritters (the accompanying pesto aioli was so delicious!), everything we ordered was fantastic! Would recommend to plan ahead and get a reservation, since it was packed, even at 5:30 on a weekday evening. The service was prompt and thoughtful, and the modern/cool atmosphere of the restaurant made for an even better experience. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit!

Let me start by saying it was St Pattys Day weekend and with traffic we were super late to our reservation. So we sat the bar. And the food was amazing! We had sweet potatoes to start, the CRNI risotto, cacio e Pepe, the calamari, and the duck ragu with cabbage. I loved the sweet potatoes, the calamari and the duck ragu. Service at the bar with Aiden was great. We came because we had watched iron chef (I'm Italian and get my own personal love of cooking from my Gram too) and were huge Joe fans. Cheers to an incredibly lovely and super unpretentious (even though it's the shit) space.
Be the first to ReplyRose Mary was easily the best restaurant I have experienced
Rose Mary was easily the best restaurant I have experienced in 2024! I can't stop recommending this restaurant enough. The stracciatella appetizer was phenomenal, and the lamb saddle and duck were out of this world. The waiter was so passionate about the food and was constantly educating us on the intricacies of the coursed meal. The ambiance was beautiful although the nearby conversations carried a little too loud for my preference, but I guess that's expected in a closely packed restaurant. We will definitely be returning for anniversaries and birthdays in the future.

Wow!! What a WONDERFUL and excellent dinner!!! I went with my husband and we took our server's suggestion and got at least two dishes each (she said 2-3 but we ended up with 2 pastas, which are heavier). I really enjoyed everything. The crudo was very refreshing, and the grilled clams were also very nice. The PASTAS though!!! Our favorite was the "Mezzaluna" or duck ragú. Omg. This was one of the tastiest things I have EVER eaten. Just so well balanced and the tomato was just so flavorful. I will be dreaming about this dish. The bucatini was also incredible! Very flavorful. Certainly more varied and unique flavors (almost like a cinnamon spice?) in comparable to the Mezzaluna. The cocktails too!!!! I loved the Green Night and the Ghost Orchid! My husband had more than one Rum Coconut Milk Punch. The presentation was very cool and it was super tasty as well! Absolutely fabulous experience!!! I could not be happier!!! Thanks SO MUCH to the chef/owner (Joe Flamm from Top Chef- how cool is that?!) and team! You can really tell everyone is trying their best there and it was so special to be a part of. I am not from the area but I hope I will have the opportunity to come back!
Be the first to ReplyI loved Rose Mary the last time I came and decided to come
I loved Rose Mary the last time I came and decided to come again after seeing they added more vegetarian options. My husband and I ordered Tortellini Djuvec, Cacio e Pepe, Agnolotti, and Gemelli. All four entrees were amazing but the Tortellini Djuvec was my favorite, filled with flavorful eggplant and red pepper. The Cacio e Pepe was slightly on the salty side but overall was creamy and the sauce held well to the shape of the pasta. The service is great despite the restaurant being packed and I enjoyed my visit just as much as the first time I came. Don't skip out on the desserts - they are heavenly!
Be the first to ReplyFirst rate food and service, also a beautiful space.
We had the stracciatta, the clams, the fritters, the gnocchi & the tortellini. Def go.

This is our third time going and the food doesn't disappoint. The restaurant is really cute and the service is exceptional. They took the green beans off the menu which was one of our favs but we always get the cevapi it's wonderful. The Cacio e Pepe was also great. The ribs were a little dry
Be the first to ReplyThe cutest restaurant in the west loop with a wide variety
The cutest restaurant in the west loop with a wide variety of options to choose from. The best way to order food is to get multiple dishes for the table to share. This will allow you to taste a little bit of everything. The risottos and pastas are generously sized and could feed one person if you preferred to go that route. The meats and seafoods on the other hand, are small portions. Between four people we ordered six dishes, and that was plenty of food. The server had recommended eight dishes but that would've been too much for our stomachs. I'm glad that we chose to go with less options, the only thing that I didn't like was once you place an order for your food, you cannot add any other dishes. I feel like they do this to try to force you to order more food all at once. If you don't want to share between the table. I would recommend ordering one pasta and one protein. My favorite dish was the squid, ink pasta, and cheese appetizer. All of the flavors were fantastic and I would love to go back.
Be the first to ReplyReally beautiful restaurant and good food.
Not the best value. Really expensive for the portion sizes you get. Really helpful service.

Two of my girlfriends and I had a weeknight dinner here and for the most part really enjoyed all of the food! We all agreed on one complaint, which is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 - and that was that two of the dishes we had, while tasty, were waaaay too salty (and that's saying something coming from me - I love salt!). The dishes were the gemelli pasta and funghi risotto - again, both tasty but the salt needed to be toned way down. As for the rest of the food, we really enjoyed the rest - the endive salad, cauliflower dish, the truffle agnolotti and the lamb were *chefs kiss* and the desserts were also lovely (the pistachio gelato was a real winner). Service was great and the restaurant is a beautiful space - very West Loop. Joe Flamm is incredibly nice and you can see the passion for what he does come through in his presence in the restaurant. Definitely give this place a try!

Phenomenal dinner spot in Chicago's West Loop! This was my first time checking out a Croatian / Italian spot and I was so impressed by some of the more authentic Croatian dishes. I highly recommend sitting at the bar, as it's a very romantic vibe and you have the chance to speak to the bartenders. We got very lucky to be seated with Kyle, who had such great knowledge of the drink and overall menu as well as Croatian culture. Big shoutout to his exceptional service (gave us some free shots after our meal)!!What we ordered:- Tuna crudo: our favorite appetizer. The veal aioli is so creamy and delicious and pairs beautifully with the tender tuna- Stracciatella: beware of huge portion size. had to take the bread and cheese home. Generously decorated with fruit and mint- Cevapi: our absolute favorite dish we ordered. I had the Serbian version of this dish a while back, but I liked that this dish still had its distinctive flavor. All the sides + the red onion are so flavorful on top of the sausage. - Lamb ragu mafaldine: my personal fav out of the two pastas we ordered. The texture of the pasta is so cool- Cacio e pepe: deep, cheesy flavor and had a great kick of black pepperMy boyfriend and I will definitely be planning to come back and try some other dishes + eat the cevapi again!
Be the first to Replyoverall, this is a great place but I think that the Chicago
overall, this is a great place but I think that the Chicago world has "over hyped" it making my initial expectations WAY to high. The service was good and the food was enjoyable. I would recommend making a reservation before you go- if you are organized, they take them VERY far in advance so you can plan a date night early. Food Reviews: -Zucchini Fritters: They were delicious but the highlight of this dish was the pesto aioli. It was herb forward, clean, and brought a fresh note to the fritters. These were not the best thing we ate but they were good- no need to prioritize this dish -Stracciatella: this was amazing and the bread (Lepinja) that comes with it was perfect. The cheese has a Smokey flavor to it which made this dish less favorable to some of the individuals I dined with- but I really liked it. It was a unique combination but the citrus fruit added a great refreshing tang and I would order it again. -Radiatore 'Cacio e pepe': WOW this may be the best cacio e Pepe I've ever had and the pasta shape was incredible. The pasta had grooves that held the pepper and cheese perfectly- I would order again and even come to get take out. The one thing I will caution people is the dish is pepper forward, that being said- if you don't like it or are pepper sensitive this may not be for you -Lamb Ragu mafaldine abruzzi: this was really enjoyable, the pasta was cooked to the perfect al dente, and the sauce was good. I enjoyed this but don't think it was the highlight of the meal. I enjoyed my meal but don't think I will be rushing back anytime soon.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is solely for their front desk.
I called to make a reservation on a Monday at 6pm, and the hostess was rude, condescending and not helpful. I'm sorry I did not know the 30 day book out reservations. Terrible customer service.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has a great decor.
We went on a Saturday night and it was packed, but we were seated right away with our reservation. The service was good and we liked our drinks, the zucchini fritters, beets, and pork ribs. The rigatoni was a little under cooked and the sun choke risotto was just okay. The five dishes was too much for 2 of us and we were so full!
Be the first to ReplyI now understand the hype about Rosemary.
This place was packed even on a Tuesday night. We were lucky enough to get a reservation while trying to book only a few hours before. The service was excellent! Our server was very knowledgeable. He had great recommendations! They changed our plates after each dish, which I really appreciated. Most restaurants don't do this. The drinks were great! We tried the Art of Choke and Gintastic. For food, we tried the zucchini fritters, stracciatella and sun choke risotto. The food was really great but I honestly think it's a little more hyped than it should be. I love the idea of shareable plates and Rosemary encourages that. The ambience was modern, chic and full of plants which I am a fan of, but honestly, they could have done much more. This restaurant is definitely on my top 5 in Chicago. A must try!
Be the first to ReplyI loved this place! I was running a little late and called
I loved this place! I was running a little late and called earlier to let them know. They were super nice and offered me the chefs counter table which was so cool to sit at and watch the food prep. Service was excellent, our waitress was so nice and attentive. The cauliflower is a must!
Be the first to ReplyRecommended by a co-worker and glad I decided to check it
Recommended by a co-worker and glad I decided to check it out. West loop is the goto place for food when in downtown. Many thanks to Anthony behind the bar on his recommendations. The tuna crudo is a great twist on a classic. The tortellini is very hearty and savory and I'm glad I tried something I normally wouldn't have. The star of the meal was the duck which is cooked slowly over a wood and coal fire. Now this has given me an idea for myself to try slow cooking duck at home. The olive oil cake was a nice touch at the end. Five stars for food and service. Will be back.
Be the first to ReplyAMAZING STAFF and CHEF!! Celebrated my daughter's 30
AMAZING STAFF and CHEF!! Celebrated my daughter's 30 birthday here last night. I had a medical treatment coming up the next day with the most restrictive diet imaginable, but I didn't want to spoil her day by limiting our night out. They went above and beyond by catering to my needs. The chef even came up with something that wasn't on the menu so I'd have something to eat. The rest of the family raved about the regular menu items. Can't wait to go back in a few weeks when I can eat anything on the menu. This was the most personalized service we've ever had at a restaurant.!! Thanks!!
Be the first to ReplyThis place offers a delightful combination of food
This place offers a delightful combination of food offerings. Service is top-notch, our server was really helpful in advising the right amount of plates & coursed things out for us on the optimal order. For me, the pasta dishes (cacio pepe & agnolotti) and fritters were standouts! I recommend going with a group so you can try lots of things!
Be the first to ReplyNaming my first born child Rosemary because that's how good
Naming my first born child Rosemary because that's how good this place was!!! Stracciatella: so creamy, perfect summer shareable dish. Maybe the least impressed by this oneTuna crudo: the crispy capers ascended this experience to the next level. Delicata Squash: this has pickled pear, candied pecan, and prosciutto! This being a cold dish surprised me but the flavors were so so good paired togetherBeef cheek gnocchi: this best flavor was in the sauce!! wanted to lick the plate cleanDuck: this was probably my favorite because of how perfectly cooked it was. The fat to meat ratio made it so melty and tender making it so easy to even cut with a butter knife!! The plum sauce it came on was also amazing. Lamb ragu: what is this pasta shape called!! I need to know!! GLORIOUS
Be the first to ReplyThis is my favorite restaurant in Chicago.
Hands down. No competition. Everything was executed perfectly from the service to the decor (love an open kitchen!!) to the food. God the FOOD!!! The hype is real. The duck was a huge portion and totally worth the price especially to share but my favorites of the night had to be the Tuna Crudo and the Lamb Mafaldine. And this choice was so hard it feels like I'm choosing between my nonexistent favorite children. Come here. Grab a reservation. It's so worth it.

This was my 2nd time to Rose Mary! The ambiance was open and airy and the dinner was very good. Our server was so professional and guided us through the whole menu and was very attentive to our needs. Satisfied with my experience.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent restaurant! The food was amazing & so fulfilling.
Thank you to our waiter(can't remember his name!) for recommending a really good appetizer , cocktails and choosing our dessert for us! Absolutely delicious! Can't wait to try other dishes on the menu. Thank you for having us Rose Mary!
Be the first to ReplyPerfection.
As others have noted the hype is real! The service, ambiance, location, and most importantly FOOD is all perfect. We tried the Brussels sprouts (very yummy and came with roe and a hint of citrus), the carrot salad (also v yummy with some crunch, cheese, citrus, and unique grain maybe farro?), and the veggie tortellini (I could eat this everyday). The food really is amazing and you should stop reading this review and go try it and see for yourself :). Shout out to our waiter who made sure our water glasses were brimming and gave solid recommendations! Can't wait to return!
Be the first to ReplyThis is one of my favorite restaurant experiences I've had
This is one of my favorite restaurant experiences I've had within the last 5 years. The ambience is welcoming and unpretentious, and the food is unique and fantastic. I've been three times in the last 2 months and have had equally amazing dishes and service each time. Would go back 100 times if reservations were easier to obtain!
