Fantastic restaurant
We had an excellent dinner at St Jacques restaurant. The food was fantastic as was the service and the great wine list. Rok, our waiter, was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had a most enjoyable evening and will definitely dine there again.

Great starter, dessert, ambiance and service. Worst moules I have ever had. Clearly weren't washed to get rid of grit. And they were full of mini crabs. We both only ate a few and said to the waiter they were no good. No action was taken. Shame, otherwise a great place.

There's no doubt this restaurant has all the qualities and menus needed for a French restaurant. But there was something about the area that put me off. Perhaps that's just my personal choice! The restaurant they used to run in Chelsea called Gustave Brasserie had more of that special something!

Our 2nd visit at lunchtime and taking advantage of the very good Set Menu here. The food is top quality and well presented, although not wildly generous. Lovely light spacious dining room looking out onto pretty courtyard and attracting a mostly business crowd. On this visit we thought service was just a little off the mark but overall we still enjoyed our experience and would happily come back.

Please never never go to this place. They truly donโt care about their customers. I received an email advertising a wine dinner at their venue, so phoned a week before and booked a table for four of us at 7.30pm. When we arrived bang on time at 7.30pm I was informed that the dinner started at 6.30pm (although we were never told this) and we should hurry downstairs, where we were told to sit at 5 different tables as singles, although we were 4 in our party, and weโd already missed the first course of the dinner. The main problem was not that they had made a mistake with the booking or failed to tell us at any point that the dinner started earlier, but that they just didnโt care or in anyway try to rectify the situation. We literally didnโt matter to them, or that they had made the error. Iโm a keen foodie and go out to eat regularly, and London is lucky to be blessed with some fine French restaurants like Bouchon Racine and Noize, to name two, so please please whatever you do go anywhere other than this incredibly indifferent and rude establishment.
Be the first to ReplyA "locals" place that is worth the visit
We arrived for dinner and the restaurant was fairly empty so we were concerned but by the time we left it was quite full. Patrons seem to be mostly locals (not a tourist hangout) and you hear a lot of French and English conversations. Our dinner was superb as was the wine pairing and the service. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyAs good as ever
First came here when it first opened then regularly either side of lockdowns. This was my first visit in a couple of years and pleased to say itโs as good as ever. Excellent menu full of French classics. Portions are generous, service discreet and there is good sensibly priced wine list. Definitely recommend.

A lovely casual/smart restaurant where we had a very tasty lunch. The square at the back is smallest in London so we'll worth a visit.
Be the first to ReplyBest place in St Jamesโs
Once again we came back to St Jacques restaurant on St Jamesโs street. The best outside terrace in London! Fabulous food and super friendly staff. A wonderful lunch, canโt recommend it enough.
Be the first to ReplySuperbe!
We had another exceptional lunch at St Jacques. The food is always very fresh and I like the fact the the menu changes regularly. The Foie gras with rhubarb jam was absolutely delicious. As was the sea bass and I wish I could have tried all the deserts on the menu! Well done St Jacques!
Be the first to ReplyWhat an erstwhile and sad experience
The owner who was โgiving it largeโ with 3 friends was incredibly rude to us - we had been here 5 or 6 times before and it was always a quite acceptable lunch. We had been to the soft opening when it was reincarnated from the old and superb Boulestin in Covent Garden using the same name. It never cut the mustard and sadly this further incarnation as St Jacques is a very pale imitation. The food was mediocre and the service was obsequious but the rudeness from the โhale fellow well metโ owner was unforgivable.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service as usual.
Good menu and nicely cooked and presented food. The souffle of emmental was excellent - I think I've had this there before. The service was also excellent. But the environment was a bit noisier than I remember - there was a rather noisy group at a table not far away, but looking around I see lots of flat plastered surfaces which easily reflect sound. it would improve the ambience a bit if they could work out how to add a bit of sound-deadening. I look forward to visiting in the summer months when one can sit outside in their courtyard.
Be the first to Replybooking was canceled two days before attending
We booked the place for Wednesday for the family dinner. The booking was confirmed on Friday the week before. This morning we got the voice-mail and then a text saying that due to a event they have to cancel our booking. Have never seen anything like this from a place that can call itself a proper restaurant. Most probably they have an offer to close the place down for the night and instead of thinking about long term consequences they preferred to cancel all the regular booking. Good luck with that,
Be the first to ReplySo yummy. Such a gem
Absolutely beautiful brasserie. Wonderful service, friendly, charming but utterly elegant. Food was brilliant and, whilst it isnโt โcheapโ, you do feel like it is good value. Have already recommended to many people!

Another excellent dinner! Delicious food and impeccable service as always. Thank you and see you soon
Be the first to ReplyGreat food - just a bit lacking in ambience
We had an excellent meal at St Jacques which serves classic French dishes. The staff were very pleasant and attentive as was the genial host who clearly "steers" this restaurant. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that it lacked a little in ambience on a weekday evening - the cool lighting could be a little more effective. I am sure a lunch in the courtyard in the summer would be delightful. We will return.
Be the first to ReplyGone downhill rapidly
Extremely sadly this attempt to run a restaurant in this building has gone the way of all the others and failed. The smell of drains in the entrance and bar area is of a great concern. I dined there this last week and Richard was not there except for a very brief spell later in the evening. All the staff have changed and the food was all over cooked and dried up. The vegetables were cold, sent back and returned immediately - clearly from a microwave which, we suspected, was why all the food was over cooked. Clearly Richard, who can be arrogant anyway, has lost interest. The grouse and Quetsche d'Alsace that were advertised were not even offered as available. Sad because I have enjoyed many past visits but it is firmly off my list now.
Be the first to ReplySimply excellent
First time here but it won't be the last. We had the set menu for lunch (ยฃ29 for two courses and ยฃ35 for three). I had Jerusalem artichoke veloute to start (rich, creamy and gorgeous) then a fish stew (gurnard, cockles and other delicious things in a rich lobster bisque sauce). My friend had chicken pate and then morteau sausage with lentils which he said were very good too. The only problem came with pudding. We wanted the crepes suzettes (not on the set menu but my friend said it was very good) but were told it was not available. My friend said this was the third time this had happened to him - odd if it was on the menu. However the patron more this made up for this by offering a quetsch tarte tatin with cinnamon ice-cream. We were presented with a very large plate which we greedily and quickly ate - absolutely perfect. With two glasses of wine (v good winelist), one coffee and service (v good) the bill came to ยฃ110. A really good meal.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a treat!
Just had a wonderful lunch at Saint Jacques. The food was splendid and so was also the service. Big thanks to Richard and his team. We felt very well looked after and definitely will be back soon.
Be the first to ReplyLunch and dinner
We stopped here for lunch right after changing of the guard purely by chance and had best meal of our 8 days in London. Onr of the owners, in purple suspenders, prepared beef tartar tableside for another table and let us have a taste, and then later after we had finished had us stay a bit longer while he made crepes and gave our teen kids a lesson in how they are made. The experience and food was so good we went back for dinner the same day. 5/5 best restaurant in London. Staff and owners were lovely, entertaining and fun.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute gem and a really special birthday lunch!
We had the most wonderful lunch for my friendโs birthday here. The waiters and the wonderful maitre dโ were so attentive and made us feel so welcome- and made sure that my friend had a really special time. We had the very reasonably priced- and seriously delicious- two course menu du jour, and had the very best time. There is such a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and it felt like a real escape from the hustle and bustle of central London. I canโt recommend it highly enough- thank you for a really memorable lunch!
Be the first to ReplyGreat but service a bit lacking
This is a great restaurant and this is not my first visit. The food was as usual very well presented - my steak tartare prepared perfectly. But I have to say the service was not quite up to scratch on this occasion. Iโm allowing for the present staffing difficulties in hospitality at the moment but I abhor waiters stretching across in front of me to serve rather than walk round my chair. Very happy to return though.
Be the first to ReplyAlways an exceptional experience!
Saint Jacques is unquestionably the best restaurant in the centre of town! It is a little oasis, perfectly situated in a beautiful courtyard in St James. The food is always superb but it is really Richard, Rock, Cecile and the wonderful team who make this place so special. They are incredibly friendly, marvellously entertaining, attentive and always ensure that you have an unforgettable experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough!
Be the first to ReplyThe most delicious Cote Boeuf
Itโs two days since we enjoyed lunch at St Jacques and Iโm still talking about the steak. It was perfect. So tender and cooked exactly as ordered.
Be the first to ReplyFood was not great
Good service and nice courtyard but food was very average, scallops were steamed and bland, the fish main course was dry and chewy.
