Worst experience ever at San Carlo
We have been to many San Carlos including this one before. But our experience was awful from the beginning. Water thrown into the glasses slopping over the table. Same when the wine was poured. Starter came within minutes of ordering. My husband had to ask for a plate for his mussel shells and a finger bowl (wipes). Scallops with bread crumbs thrown on top, not crisp. Pasta was overcooked and tasteless. Had to ask for Parmesan, this is normally offered as part of the service. Decided to have the signature pistachio expresso martini to be given a normal one, when mentioned it they stirred a bit of sauce in it, still couldn’t taste it. Rushed and poor service not what you expect.
Quite an experience
I have been to San Carlo in Manchester but never this one. So thought I would give it a try and so pleased I did. In fact during my 4 day visit to the city I went twice! On both occasions I was there for lunch. There first time I had Mafaldine con Ragu di Manzo which was excellent and very filling so I never got round to dessert. The second time I had a pasta that you could have as a starter which was still large enough for me as I wanted to have the Meringue cake with strawberries which I didn’t have the day before. That was out of this world and I would highly recommend. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the second day welcomed me as though I was a regular! Will definitely be going there again the next time I am in the city
So many things sound delicious, so it’s hard to pick one thing and you hold it too much and it’s all super delicious
Superb food. Attentive staff. But if you were in a hurry, skip it. Of course I ordered something that is quite a while but it was twice as long as it should’ve and that was a whole baked branzino. I think I had three meals out of it it was extraordinary.
Shame about the service
I really feel that you should be made aware of the treatment my husband and I received at this restaurant in Liverpool. I ordered soup to start and was surprised to be brought a dessert spoon not a soup spoon, but used it without complaint, I then had to ask for a steak knife with our chateaubriand after the meat had arrived ( didn’t have this problem last time I had eaten in this restaurant). On that occasion our focaccia was about an inch and a half thick and beautifully tasty but today’s was I thought a pizza base with sprigs of rosemary? Didn’t query it. This was my birthday meal as I am 70. After my first meal in this restaurant I wanted to have my birthday meal here as everything was delicious and very well served. I asked for medium rare pink but not bleeding please (maybe I should have said medium) but I have always asked for medium rare with the special not bleeding request. The chateaubriand was not shown to us, we were just told it would be sliced then served, when served it was bleeding so I did try a piece but it was just too bloody for me, I asked the blonde male waiter to please cook two pieces a little more for me so it wasn’t bleeding, he brought it back and it was exactly the same as when he took it, my husband put a piece on his plate and tried it and assured me it definitely was the same I was embarrassed to have to ask another person to please cook two piece’s for me (one original and one supposedly recooked) both exactly the same, they were brought back not bleeding as requested I ate one but to be honest I had lost my appetite for it as maybe I am paranoid but I was sure that the blonde waiter was looking at me and giggling with someone else and it made me feel it was about the silly old woman who hadn’t noticed the same meat, So we left the other piece on the serving platter and just asked for the bill, I asked to speak to the manager in private but he spoke to me at our table, I explained about the meat and he said I was wrong it had been cooked again the first time, I asked him because it was him I asked the second time if he agreed that both pieces he had taken were the same as one was original and other apparently recooked, three times he repeated said I was wrong so I just said forget it I didn’t want to argue, I didn’t want a reduction on the bill or a complimentary drink I just wanted the bill, My husband and I eat out regularly and love to leave great reviews it’s awful when you can’t and who really wants to waste their money and time especially on a special birthday.

Lovely waiters, amazing staff. Food is luscious and it is a lovely place to go for for friends family and more, also close to the station with helps a lot.

San carlos is top of the tops place to vist me and my wife been there lot of time we r from Malta d place is stunning nice super clean d help and great service is out of this world food no one can bet it so gd its amazing for me and d maltese that I gave a treat all was super about everything tks to san Carlos and to Daived god bless u all tks
Good food
We stumbled across this restaurant last minute on a busy Saturday evening and they managed to get us a table straight away. The staff were great , we only had a main meal which I’m glad as I struggled to finish that. Portions of the pasta dishes were a good size, very tasty. We had a side of sautéed potatoes with bacon and they were amazing!!. The drinks are overpriced but I found the meals reasonable. The only slight criticism is the food could have been hotter but I’d definitely return.
Very expensive for what you get.
We went to San Carlo as we thought it would be a nice place for drinks before we had a meal elsewhere. Pros: Friendly staff Drinks were good Cons: Poor choice of bar snacks. Empty drinks glasses all piled up at end of the bar. Very expensive Service charge added to everything (including just having drinks at the bar!) Tables very close to each other so you feel you are almost on the same table as other guests.
Avoid
Went here for my birthday meal, weekend away with my partner. We ordered oysters to start and then steak. Got home after the weekend away and was bed ridden for 3 days with sheflsh food poistoning! Avoid!

* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* EternalAnt36, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* EternalAnt36 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to EternalAnt36 for any questions Peter may have as EternalAnt36 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* EternalAnt36 now uses their connections at San Carlo Liverpool to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If EternalAnt36 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, EternalAnt36 receives the $200 reward which is credited to EternalAnt36's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
