Sherman's Deli & Bakery Rancho Mirage Reviews from The Last Year
Real deal NY style pastrami.
Excellent service. Great bakery, too. A must stop every time we visit the Palm Springs area.
The positive: it's a for-real Jewish deli in the distance
The positive: it's a for-real Jewish deli in the distance of the posh suburban desert sprawl of Coachella Valley. It will remind you of the for-real good jewish delis you wish you were at, which I can't say I exactly found it to be. Also the serving sizes are more than ample, and the service was quick and attentive. Negs: There's a difference between simple, classic dishes with minimal, basic ingredients and underwhelming food. This was underwhelming. Our egg salad sandwich had tons (tons!) of egg salad that needed just a lil bit of love to be something more than eggs, mayo and salt. A dash of onion or scallion, a shake of paprika - just something. It didn't though, and we couldn't finish it. Our lattkes - and again it was a huge serving of these - were super greasy, and more of a greasy diner-style than I'd expect at a deli. So greasy, and again without any onion or anything beyond greasy shredded potatoes, so those too we failed to finish. Our blintz - also simple - did deliver though, and tasted just like we imagined and hoped it would. The desserts did look good, but we skipped these. This was a quick visit and our hopes were high - we always miss New York - but, after all, this is the SW desert.
Waited 48 minutes for a pastrami sandwich to go.
People who ordered after me repeatedly received their orders. When I asked, I was told me order was coming and then more people who ordered after me continued to get their food. When my sandwich was finally ready, I asked if they'd forgotten my order and they said yes. I then asked if the potato salad was in the box with the sandwich. I was assured I didn't need to check so I drove home and they for forgot the potato salad. Terrible service and an incomplete order.

Great pastrami! The bakery cookies were especially great.
Always a go to when we're in Palm Springs/Palm Desert
Great place for a sandwich! TRust me.
The food here is unique. I like the potatoe salad that comes with it. The service is great, and I like the old school feel of the place. The deserts when you walk out though, stay away lol. Great food and highly recommended.

Found this wonderful place on a reference from an RV tv show. The food was excellent!!!! Next time we are here we will return....
Worth one visit
It's a cool place, but the food is just ok. The dessert was really good, I had a piece of the lemon dome, it was so light and creamy. Huge piece too. The borscht was excellent but I prefer mine hot, still good. Chicken salad sandwich was ok. My man had the club and it was huge. He liked it. Service was nice and attentive.

We grew up in Palm Springs with Sam the owner, and as a child we would go to Sherman's (Sam's father may he RIP) Steak House. It was always wonderful- Sam is VERY METICULOUS, and he's ALWAYS on his servers and staff to ensure the best experience possible.

Colette is so deserving recognition as Sherman's number one
Colette is so deserving recognition as Sherman's number one employee! Works her tail off trying to keep customers happy! Honestly, she should be the manager, as her people skills are fantastic! Of course, she likes the one on one connection with her loyal customers! Tay has also really impressed me! Great staff! Some just seem to go out of their way to make your experience magnificent! I have actually met people at Si Bon, the classiest restaurant in the Valley, who agree with me that she is so friendly, efficient, and hard working! I have numerous awards in education as a retired teacher, counselor and school administrator. Hard working, loyal employees should be recognized by their employers, as I was for forty years! Great food! Enough for two days! Very fair prices! From the hostesses to the cleaners, all friendly and kind. Kudos to the owners!
For as many times as I have been to Sherman's in Palm
For as many times as I have been to Sherman's in Palm Springs, and for as many times as I have stayed in Palm Desert and Indian Wells, I have yet to actually come to the Sherman's Palm Desert location until very recently. Well, coming here on a Friday kinda sucked. As expected, there was a huge wait. Think the wait ended up being at least 45 minutes, but that's what happens when you come at peak lunch hours. Since this was my first time at the PD location, I had to run it back to my original order at the PS location and get the Grilled Reuben with Pastrami. I've had this several times at Sherman's in PS, and this hits exactly the same. A significant chunk of tasty pastrami to be had here! By no means is this even close to the best pastrami I have ever had. But you cannot go wrong with this for a Jewish deli located in a desert. Also tried the chopped liver for the first time...was actually a lot more moist than I was expecting! Lastly, make sure you save room for Sherman's amazing desserts. They're super cheap, yet you get a massive portion. Had the carrot cake cheesecake...let's just say it had a pretty long life even after eating here! Staff here are great, no complaints from me. They work really hard given how many people are in this restaurant. Took good care of us! I'll have to come back to Sherman's again, but maybe at a time where the way isn't as bad.
Disappointed Turkey Sandwich
We visited this deli with another couple. It was my first visit to a Sherman’s bakery and was looking very much towards an excellent sandwich. I chose the turkey breast sandwich. It came with a large amount of turkey and two slices of bread. There were no condiments such as tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, mustard. It was very disappointing.
Easy Valentines Dinner
We wanted something simple for Valentines Day and opted for Sherman’s. Thankfully there was no extravagant deal made about it being Valentines Day. Only having to wait maybe 5 min to be seated, the place was packed which was great. The menu was filled with so many delicious options, but I instantly had my heart set on a bowl of Matzo Ball soup to start. And oh how my heart was and comforted by the great flavors. For my entree, I opted for a sandwich, and I don’t k IW what came over me but t I opted for a corned beef between two Latkes , and decadent doesn’t begin to describe how it tasted. Inwas smart enough to only eat half. It came together so well (and was great for breakfast the following day.) my partner ordered a clChopped Salad and was content with it. It was definitely a great way to spend a donner. We had a grea server too:
Overall Still Good.
We came here twice. Just after lunch, so we didn't have to wait long. The first time was Okay, in my opinion. The BBQ briquet sandwich was fatty and contained gristle, but the desserts were wonderful both times. My turkey pastrami sandwich on the second visit was superb. And, of course, the desert was stellar (my wife and I shared the apple pie). The service was Okay the first time (she seemed tired) but good the second time around (same server). Overall, I think they are still a great place to eat, but the quality of everything is not as consistently good as years ago. But we will continue to go there.
A disappointing meal
We were looking forward to Sherman’s but were very disappointed. The bread on both of our sandwiches was not fresh at all. The corned beef and the pastrami were nothing to write home about . The potato salad was also dry with no flavour at all. We also tasted our neighbour tables lemon cake and it was also dry. Is this a Monday thing?
Casual dining at a town favorite.
Food and service were excellent. A casual deli style environment that Has great soups, great variety of sandwiches and great deserts. We had the cabbage soup, which is a house favorite. Very tasty with Nice portions of beef in a flavorful spicy broth. For dinner I had Pastrami sandwich with potatoes salad. For dessert we had coconut cake ( couple split it). Our waitress was very helpful , she has worked there over 12 years, This place is a local favorite by all. Get there early, for a Monday night, was a packed house. Enjoy
Authentically good
There's a wait for a reason. Everything we had was great, but I especially want to recommend the onion bagel. It's got a wonderful chewy bagel texture, and it's loaded with onions. It's not a plain bagel with some dried onion shavings stuck onto the top of it like you get so many places!
Best NY style Deli on the west coast
I stopped here on a roadtrip from San Francisco to Phoenix and it’s the perfect half way point to have a delicious meal. Everything on the menu looked so good it was impossible to decide what to get! I ordered a small bowl of the chicken soup with a matzo ball and a pastrami latke sandwich. The soup was phenomenal, taste as good as my mom’s (but don’t tell her lol). The pastrami was also delicious and the potato latkes were the best I had ever tasted. The combination of pastrami and latkes with the horseradish mustard was out of this world. The sandwich was huge I could only eat half so definitely easy to split with someone. After lunch we stopped at the bakery counter and picked up ruggelah, mondel bread, and some cookies. All in all everything was delicious, service was fast, and friendly. I will definitely make an effort to come back here on my way back!
NY in CA
We went for breakfast not knowing all the history - pleasantly surprised to see it was featured on DDD. Took home the homemade turkey pastrami, corned beef and chopped liver all of which were delicious. Had a fabulous NY style breakfast (lox and eggs). Everything from the food to the homemade baked goods (delicious and impressive!) to the staff/service was great. Definitely worth a visit if you are a deli fan!

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
