Dining in Geary Blvd, San Francisco
First let me say that I am not familiar with Sichuan style of cooking. It apparent,y has bold flavours, resulting from liberal use of garlic and chili peppers, as well as the unique flavour of Sichuan pepper. Knowing only this information I asked for the mild version which I think detracted from my experience.
The staff were very enthusiastic and quick with the meal, although we were not in a hurry. The broth starter was great as was the pork and potato dish and the beans. I found the tea smoked duck too dry and the rice style I chose too watery. I did appreciate the complimentary rice cake desert.
The wine by the glass was a surprise with both the chardonnay and merlot a great choice.
Spicy good!
I stay in the Richmond when I'm in town so love eating locally. This is one of my neighborhood favorites, and comes not only with Michelin approval, it hosted PM Lee Hsing Loong of Singapore in 2018!
The tart-hot pickled appetizers made me even more hungry for my main course. I chose tea smoked duck, broccoli and rice. Everything was fresh and delicious...and hot spicy (which I love). The staff can guide you through the varied menu's heat levels if need be. There's everything imaginable to please any palate.
After my dinner, I was given some sweet sticky rice dessert, gratis. A perfect end to a perfect meal.
Delicious food at affordable cost
We had superb MaPo Tofu, Dan Dan Noodles, Xiao Long Bao, and a fabulous crispy chicken with chilis. All delicious. Friendly service. Great place for the pick-me-up we needed after the long flight! Highly recommend.

Came here as we were craving twice-cooked pork. Friendly neighborhood restaurant with many obviously repeat customers. Friendly staff went out of their way to accomodate the couple next to us, as well as suggesting tweaks to our order, which improved our meal. The downside was it was difficult to get water refills, and the dishes were mild! (But at least flavorful.) And we gave up on getting rice.

The food was great, served nice and hot. The fish was even cooked at the table. The service was great, they were quick and nice.
Be the first to ReplyThankful for warm, delicious food on a cold San Francisco night.
Something happens when you open the tripadvisor app and search for Chinese food in San Francisco, SO MANY OPTIONS! It is GREAT to have, and we were thankful Sichuan Home was at the top of the list. We have visited several times since that first evening we rushed in for take-away. That first night, the charming and friendly hostess/ service person offered us a seat, some tea and pickeled vegitables while we waited. They were very friendly and when we arrived home we were thrilled to taste the tangy lemon chicken, bright crispy pea shoots and deeply flavorful beef with green onions. The next visit was for dine in and we were also extremely thankful for the experience. One reviewer before made a comment about the rice. Yes, the rice is $1.00 at dinner and the fried rice with all sorts of delicious bites in it costs more. A true Chengdu experience!

Took advantage of us by not offering lunch menu, telling us rice was $1.00 but it was 8.95. Lunch was 59.00!! We spent 18.00 on rice! Chicken was dark meat, fatty, and not fully cooked.

Nice atmosphere, awesome Chinese food, excellent service! All four of us loved everything. That's not easy. Very authentic. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyTasty food, not that spicy
We stopped by at this place on one of our SF outings. The place is clean and well run. Just the bathroom is weirdly located behind the kitchen. It felt strange to go there, but you can see the whole process, if you want.
Food was good, inexpensive. Not very spicy for non Sichuan natives, yet not so Americanized that it doesn't taste like Chinese food any more.
Authentic!
We drove all the way from North Bay and it was worth it. Very friendly folks with attentive service. Menu has pictures, but if you know Szechuan cooking, you'll recognized the classics. Fish soup was delightful, with a fabulous peppercorn flavor; It finishes cooking on your table. Not a fancy place, just good food.
We order 'spicy' and could handled it just fine. Cold noodles were also quite good. Prices were very competitive.
