Vietnam/Hanoi/Amazing
Food and service was excellent. Lovely menu and wine accompaniments for absolutely amazing. Special thanks to Kealan who explained everything so well.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful "Hanoi" experience
Had a lunchtime "Hanoi" themed visit, which I think is the best of the several times we have been there. Staff really great, food terrific, and the paired wines spot on. love it!
Be the first to ReplyNot exactly “discretionary”!
I really enjoyed the dining experience at this restaurant on Mothers Day. The food was absolutely beautiful, each course was full of flavour and nicely presented. The Hanoi menu is my favorite theme so far. I noticed that a “discretionary” 12.5% would be applied to the bill. When our server presented us with the bill, she explained that this charge was included in the total but could be deducted if required. I’m sorry, this just did not sit well with me. I like to tip for good service at MY discretion, I certainly don’t want the management to apply a percentage, determined by them. Also, it embarrasses the customer if they ask to deduct it. Each course was served by a different person, all very polite and cleared away by another server. We didn’t have an opportunity to engage with anyone in particular and at times the service for wine, water etc was a little slow. I never leave a restaurant without leaving a tip but this setup is totally unacceptable. However, as mentioned, the food was enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyOk, but wouldn’t go again
Badly organised, we arrived for 7:15 sitting and stood in a queue for 20 minutes…we were lucky, people were queuing outside in the rain (no bar area to wait). After being seated it didn’t take long for the first course to arrive, I enjoyed most of the courses, plus the explanations from the waiter, my husband thought that some of the courses didn’t gel with him. I had the vegetarian option, he had the standard menu. Overall it was a good experience but I wouldn’t go again. Didn’t really get an apology for the waiting time, and service charge automatically added which I don’t like

The food was not great at all, with a lot of our party leaving a lot of the dishes. A lot of the restaurant then began to empty and there was a lots of cleaning up going on around us while we were trying to enjoy the evening. Some sort of humming fan was going on whilst the cleaning was taking place and there was no background music on. When it came to the bill, someone eventually dropped it to our table and there was an extra £50 added on and a £30 service charge. We were then told there was no WiFi and that we couldn't pay by card, and that we were only able to use the credit card used initially for the booking, and then told there was a cash machine outside if we wanted to pay in cash! I then queried the bill and after the original waitress saying 'oh I put that on by mistake earlier and I forgot to take it off' we decided not to pay the service charge. So the bill went from £300 down to £225. So not worth the money and will definitely not be back. A very disappointing experience and atmosphere was awful. Looking around we could see other guests felt the same!

So disappointed! We went last night table was booked for 9pm food not good too much salt and some dishes cold. But the worst was staff started to clean up so they could get out. They started on our second course! Felt like we were keeping them back. Really not nice to eat your dinner and watch them spray around the place cleaning. Could hear the staff talking and saying can't wait to get to the pub ! Then when we finished they said the Wi-Fi was down and needed to go and get cash out or they could use the card that the booking was under. So our friends had to pay. Not sure how they looked the booking up when Wi-Fi was not working and they really wanted us to pay cash? They should have told us this before we sat down !! The whole thing was so disappointing as I thought this was a luxury experience and was definitely Not!

Awful experience from start to finish. Myself and friends were beyond exited to dine here as a birthday treat. I had got in touch (email and telephone voicemail) a number of times before our evening arrived as one of us is both dairy and gluten free. There was no acknowledgment from NICO. We arrived into a very drab quiet room with quite unfriendly staff that looked at us like we were in the way. There was zero atmosphere. No music and the room was cold. The waiters were extremely hard to understand so when describing the dishes we hadn’t a clue what they were saying. The drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic were extremely overpriced and the food was certainly not worth rushing back for. Time for the bill- wow a shock indeed! Their card machine was not working so my friend, along with the manager are standing in the middle of the dining room for all to see the transaction issues- so unprofessional and unnecessary. I, myself suggested that they go to the till point near the front door. The tip is added onto the bill whether you like it or not. They knew it was a birthday- we sang happy birthday to ourselves, they done nothing to make it a nice experience whatsoever. Absolutely disappointed is an understatement!

Daylight robbery and every dish tastes the same- highly salted. Wouldn’t accept a voucher 4 days past expiry even though a close family bereavement resulted in us not using it before hand. Was escalated all the way to their head office and they still decided to rob the £80 and provide nothing in return for it. Very unreasonable position to take in my opinion- other half had paid £80 for the voucher and they were delighted to get an opportunity to not have to get out of honoring it. Wouldn’t set foot in another one of their businesses.
Be the first to ReplyMore than disappointing
I took my partner here for his birthday and it was amongst the worst food and service I've ever experienced. When we arrived, we were sat down, given 2 menus and then we were just left. 10 minutes later I asked to order a drink - the wine came and it was warm. I then ordered the vegetarian churros and bread - only the chrros arrived and they were more than disappointing. They tasted and looked like soggy breadsticks. 10 minutes later I asked a waiter for the bread and they said they thought we'd had it (no apologies). When the starter arrived (goats cheese ducks) they were frozen solid, meaning they had v little taste (to be honest by then I'd lost the will). The mushroom veloute was nice but the remaining courses were honestly so disappointing for the price we paid - both visually and taste- wise. I wasn't offered another drink until near the end of service. We were then rushed out of the door (we literally put down our spoons and someone was next to us with the card machine) on some conveyor belt that the restaurant had going, without anyone giving us our coats. We then had to queue with people trying to get in (I had to put my coat on right next to another poor person eating there who had been placed right by the door as the doorway and reception were so overcrowded). The restaurant has too any tables (people are crammed in), not enough staff and an awful loud atmosphere. I've eaten in a lot of places and this was by far the most disappointing (in terms of atmosphere, good, drink and service). I would avoid.

Fairground menu did not hit the spot. Service below standard tonight too. Disappointing all round as have enjoyed visits in the past.
Be the first to ReplyA regular dinner date
I have been to Six by Nico three times now and it is fast becoming a regular event for myself and my friend. We have never been disappointed by any of the menus on offer and with the six dish setup even if one isn't your favourite there is always another that more than makes up for it. I want to commend the staff for being attentive, even when the place is absolutely packed, and for always taking good care of our dietary requirements. With lactose intolerance I am used to having my requirements taken into account my simply removing ingredients but the chefs here always provide me with an equally good dish that is safe to eat. I look forward to coming back many times in the future and I hope the business continues to thrive.
Be the first to ReplyBland salty food and rude staff
From arriving at the restaurant to leaving the experience was overall very poor. The front of house ‘welcome’ felt like we had inconvenienced the host. She proceeded to sigh and tell us we wouldn’t get our first course for 10 mins as we 5 mins arrived early. There was no one else waiting on a table when we arrived. I don’t expect my food to be set on the table as soon as I arrive, it’s nice to settle in, take off your coats, read the menu and select your wine, without the food arriving straight away as it did for the table next to us. The wine server was lovely, really friendly and professional, after that it went downhill. The food was salty, bland and cold. Wasn’t as shown in the photos, with real lack of colour on the plate. The same ‘Japanese mayo’ seemed to be used across multiple dishes. The food was practically thrown down, the servers reached across the table and over food to serve the rest of the table instead of walking around the table to serve food from the other side. Cutlery was thrown down on the table between courses. The staff described the dishes so fast and quietly and like robots you couldn’t understand anything, when asked questions they couldn’t answer you. We had the broth poured over two of the people at the table, a simple fix would have been for the server to walk around the table to serve them at their own side rather than reaching over other people and their food, to reach the plates. Poor service bordering on rude. Bill was thrown on the table with ‘you need to leave’ even tho we had 20 mins left on our booking. The people next to us arrived after us, had the wine pairing and left before us. I understand that restaurants are under pressure at the moment but Japan has some amazing food and this menu didn’t reflect this fact. I’ve had better food in an Asian style chain restaurant. There was nothing on the plate that wowed me. Diner style restaurant, conveyer belt food, lack of staff training, I won’t be back! A warm welcoming smile, some staff training on how to present the food would have saved the whole experience. A smile and a warm welcome costs the restaurant nothing!!
Be the first to ReplyGood price, lovely food
Great selection of courses, beautifully tasty, good service. We’ve done lots of tasting menus before but £30ish each is an absolute bargain in comparison, so really impressed overall. The ‘Neverland’ theme was tenuous and a bit naff to be fair (I prefer the sound of all the other ones previously) but really good event nevertheless. Thanks

Food no less than superb , service no less than excellent, casual friendly chatty and cannot wait to return
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Experience!
The food served here was of an extremely high standard, comparable to many high class restaurants. It was very busy with a great atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon. Special mention must go to the young staff who on seeing our 6 different plates of food, described in detail all the contents. It was a great experience trying out food that one normally wouldn’t cook at home. Each plate was an adequate portion but on tasting, you just wished for more!! A restaurant definitely worth going to!!
Be the first to ReplySo disappointed
So disappointed with the Tokyo experience. Having spent a month in Japan we were looking forward to experiencing their culinary delights. Not to be. We had to open our bottle of wine because the waitress didn't know how to use the corkscrew! At the end of our meal there was no gentle reminder our time was up, we were expelled! Quite unceremoniously! Despite the fact it was 30 mins before our first course arrived. We supported Six by Nico in lockdown and are so disappointed with the customer experience today.
Be the first to ReplyExquisite - a taste sensation
I read recent reviews after I booked Six by Nico and a few were of them looked dissappointing. However - our experience was exceptional - the food was full on flavour and came to the table beautifully cooked. The wine pairings were excellent and the service was brilliant. Our experience was really positive. Well done!
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
Four of us visited here for dinner before a concert. Overall the food was lovely but a couple of the dishes were quite salty and some of the party said that certain courses were on the cold side while everyone else’s were ok. Service was generally ok but we couldn’t make out what the staff were saying in explaining the wines or the dishes. The worst part was that the bill was brought down to the table and left with us, even though we hadn’t asked for it. We had vouchers that included wines, food and aperitif. We only realised the next day that we had been charged for the aperitif. While the price point is good, overall the experience isn’t great when comparing against other similar style restaurants.
Be the first to ReplySuch a let down
Went last night for tasting menu & matching wine,to say we were disappointed is an understatement. I won't go into every detail but the food did not live up to expectations. All courses were luke warm, the fish was overcooked and very heavily salted, the chicken course was dry and had no flavour and again heavy on salt the two pieces of gnocchi that came with the dish were like bullets completely inedible.service was ok. Just sorry we have bought our daughter a voucher for here, hopefully their meal won't be as big a let down as ours. Definitely won't be returning
Be the first to ReplyLack lustre and bland
Wanted this to be amazing as I heard lots of good reviews before I went! We just saved it for a menu that suited our taste buds!!Neveland was it!! On arrival we where seated promptly and had 2 courses within 10 mins, super quick and we could have done with it a little slower. All 6 courses served within 90 mins!!! We only had our desert plates lifted and where approached within a few mins and told the table would be required back in 10/15 mins. We had a bottle of wine with our meal, so meant we had to drink up quicker!! Not an amazing experience when you have paid decent money! Food was disappointing, Luke warm and bland. It felt rushed!! Enjoyed pollock and dessert! But everything else looked good but tasted overcooked or bland. So gutted as I want to love this place. My partner and I eat out all the time and thought this could be a regular experience. Won’t be back and couldn’t recommend
Be the first to ReplyFamily meal with teens
I love tasting menus and quirky meals so was keen to try this, although intrigued this was a chain approach to the concept rather than a specific chef’s vision. Having looked at the menu (Neverland) I decided we could brave taking our two teens as the price felt very reasonable and the menu descriptions and social media visuals meant we could be fairly sure they’d like most of it as they’re not too fussy but would be wary of some things like cheese foam and porridge! We went for two regular meals and two vegetarian which worked out really well as we could swap between them. As the menu changes so frequently reviewing the food feels a bit irrelevant but it was all tasty and hot where it needed to be. I was fairly full by the end - pacing smaller portions tends to allow your brain to catch up with your stomach I find so although the dishes feel small compared to a regular menu if you’re not used to a tasting menu, they’re generally reasonable. The service was generally good with only one reasonable delay after the second course. I don’t think this was intentional (sometimes you do get a bit of a break in tasting) as they did ask us if we wanted a break after the main before the dessert. Each course came with a description by the server but this was really just relaying most of what was on the menu. A description to link it to the theme might have been better (to be honest I didn’t see the links beyond some of the dish titles). We tend to go lower cost with wine and £25 a bottle is on par with most restaurants at this price point. Lots of people seemed to be having the pairings. Overall I would definitely look to go again if we were near a restaurant, depending on the menu. The next one (Tokyo) for example wouldn’t have looked as appealing to us but the concept of changing regularly is a good one as most restaurants with tasting menus don’t do this, often only changing certain dishes occasionally or seasonally.
Be the first to ReplyNot impressed
For someone who’s been with six by Nico from the start, I can say the food has gone downhill with rising prices. The dishes are bland with recipes that lack that oomph they used to have. 37 pounds for smaller portions of lesser quality, the value and appeal of six by Nico is gone. It’s a shame as this poverty used to be my favourite restaurant and I wouldn’t mind increasing prices if the food stayed the same standard or ideally better but definitely not the opposite. Unfortunately, I will not be spending my money here any longer :(

Wow first time visit definitely not my last the food was amazing and wine paring unreal 100% compliments and enhanced dinning experience see you in 6....
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant.
Visited at lunchtime on a Sunday. Considering the time it was well over half full and apparently fully booked for the rest of the day. Front of house and floor staff were excellent. They were all young people who were obviously well trained friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent and all six courses were very tasty and cooked to perfection. I have no doubt we will be back in the near future,
