WOW. I CANNOT believe how rude Matt was to us. He literally ruined our entire experience and I'm just furious he was such a dick to us even AFTER we spent $6000 on bottles while we were here. Unacceptable. Management: please get rid of this guy. He has NO idea what customer service means.

Beautiful location! I'm a local and I love a good pool party. The SLS never disappoints. Everything from the valet experience to the friendly staff. We got everything. Pool side service, great drinks, and it attracts such an attractive crowd of interesting characters.

I could hardly wait to get home to write this review on the RIP OFF experience we had at this hotel. On our way to Key West we stopped at the SLS and reserved and PAID FOR IN FULL an ocean front room. When we arrived back a week later we were told that all the ocean front rooms were occupied! Imagine that- paying for an ocean front room a week in advance only to find that our reservation was not honored! The manager was young and only a manager for 3 weeks, and his inexperience shined brightly as he tried to switch us around. We were offered an "upgrade" to a pool view villa and after negotiating for the hotel to throw in a free breakfast, free valet, and waiving the resort fee, we were taken to our villa room. Turns out the pool has blasting music that was loud enough to dance to in our room with the door closed. We asked how long the music played, and were told the "pool party" went on until 2 AM. Now, if I was a 20 something that might have been fine, but in my late 60s that was unacceptable as I find myself in bed an asleep at 2 AM. I don't think that peace and quiet are too much to ask for at 2 AM, but hey, that's just me.We were shown a third room with an ocean view, but the beds seem to have been made for very small people and the room size matched the beds. Not acceptable.I called around but all the hotels were pretty much booked unless we wanted to pay over $900 for the night. So we decided to just forget our night in Miami Beach and come home instead. The result of this was our also giving up our anticipated night on the town and our plans to see an old friend the next day.I can walk short distances just fine but use a mobility scooter for more than a block or so. When my wife was talking with the manager he said that we didn't tell the hotel we needed a handicap room when the reservation was made. Funny thing is that I made the reservation in person at the same front desk as I was at when I was telling the manager how unacceptable his comments on handicapped people were.As we were checking in another couple who had also reserved an ocean front room also were told that none were available, and that the fine print said that the room reserved might not be available at check in. They caved and took a lesser room, however mine had been paid in full. I have stayed at many hotels around the world from the Savoy in London to the Motel 6 at the Managua, Nicaragua airport, but this was my first experience at such a blatant bait and switch.Shame on you SLS for not honoring our fully paid for reservation and then offering us another room where the music would be playing until the early hours of the morning. That was a dirty, underhanded move on your part to oversell rooms in the hope that you could make more money on travelers who had no other choice. And shame on you for trying to blame us for not telling you of my handicap condition when I made the reservation right in front of the reception desk. A truly first class hotel would have bent over backwards to honor their reservation and if it were just not possible would have found us similar or better accommodations at another hotel on their dime.I hate it when people try to scam me, and that's just what this was like.

After checking out I was later emailed that housekeeping found "evidence of smoking inside the room" and that the security manager confirmed it. Their evidence was a smell of smoke and they are charging me $700. This is beyond ridiculous as I never smoked in the room or any hotel room, Ever. I stay in hotels over 75 nights a year and nothing close to this has happened to me. I called the manager and she said there was nothing she can do. The house keeping staff is suspicious as they came into my room twice even though I had the "do not disturb" tag hanging on the door and they opened my belongings. If you stay here, protect yourself and your valuables. During check-out you may want to have someone confirm your room is free of charges and damages to protect yourself as well. After reading other reviews about SLS south beach I am not surprised about this experience. I was here for an event and did not choose the hotel, so I didn't check Yelp before. I will never stay here again and will tell anyone going to Miami to avoid this place at all costs.

This was a very disappointing experience for the amount of money we paid. We stayed for Christmas and it was very bare bones. Sub par customer service, unaccommodating, and freezing rooms. Also very limited room service menu.
Be the first to Reply3 star ambience, 3 star service, 3 star price/value:
3 star ambience, 3 star service, 3 star price/value: Glamorous renovation of an old Art Deco hotel that tries far too hard to be self-consciously hip, almost to the point of self-parody...think a Kim Kardashian wannabe as a hotel, and you'll get the mental image.3 star ambience: A slick reno of an old Art Deco hotel that falls slightly flat. The smallish lobby is a bit of a surprise but well decorated in a somewhat generic boutique hotel way. The real problems are the full court press to project an exclusive image (think an overstaffed valet out front that focuses on how to position the most expensive Maserati in the front next to the street, etc). The now closed and renovating Delano next door did this in a much more low key and convincing way...there it felt like everyone actually was famous/rich when most actually were not, but here it just feels like reality show fakery.3 star service: The self-conscious hipsterdom continues inside. For a hotel striving for luxury in this price range, no one greets you at the front desk, opens the door or even says hello when face to face. Maybe this sort of cold you're-lucky-to-be-here vibe works for an exclusive nightclub, but only up to a point and never works for a hotel.3 star price / value: It's really a basic convention center Hilton level lodging / service but at Four Seasons prices. The amenities are similar; nothing to write home about in any way. The other couple of area hotels in the SLS chain are similar...the marketing plan seems to be "sell an image but not much substance to desperate hipsters at a very high price"

This hotel gives free weekends to fake influencers and bloggers like this one. But they expect you to pay the high prices. I'll never set foot here again.

The club has a little Man who has a power trip when kicking people out. So be careful if you accidentally trip him up. Or else you will be sent home. His glasses will shock you because you will think he is professional, brother did his job but couldn't help pick on someone just so he looks like a tough guy.
