Stretch Pizza New York Reviews from The Last Year
I chose this spot with mention to the Michelin star chef.
Ambiance (5/5): Loved the retro diner/bar vibes. It was open, well decorated, lovely eye popping colors. Covered outdoor dining table setting with nice quality tables that matched the indoor area. Quiet surrounding for lunch. Open windows providing nice air flow from outside. You can also see the kitchen from a small opening in the back. Be aware that the bathroom is several flights down (I think I saw an elevator access as well). Service (5/5): We ended up sitting at the bar during Saturday lunch hours where most of the tables were not occupied. The server was friendly and offered us samples of wine and later made us a personalized drink with my requested flavor. He accidentally put in the wrong order for a non-vegetarian pizza (the Stranger) but only realized after I had already touched the slice so we got the whole pizza for free!! We never felt rushed. They boxed our leftovers and kept them at the front where they had a pizza warmer! Pizza (4/5): I liked the pizza for being gourmet but it was not the best pizza I had. Perhaps it needed some more doughy-ness to it or a better crunch. The Nellie was far better than the Stranger in my opinion. The different kinds of onions on the Nellie gave it a dynamic flavor. We also opted for their sauces (3) the Strand was very standard and the least liked between the two of us. We like the green garden and the burnt scallion! Dessert (3/5): The mini chocolate chip cookies has a pronounced browned butter flavor, so they're crunchy and not too sweet. They were nice to nom on but nothing to write home about.
Stretch Pizza in New York City, Wiley Dufresne's latest
Stretch Pizza in New York City, Wiley Dufresne's latest culinary venture, is an exceptional addition to the city's vibrant dining scene. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between chic and cozy, making it an ideal spot for both casual nights out and special occasions. The menu features numerous standout dishes including the meatball sliders, chickpea fries and potato chip salad. These are nothing short of spectacular, offering a delightful blend of flavors and textures that left a lasting impression. Complementing the food, the cocktails are incredibly innovative. The bartenders, not only skilled mixologists but also extremely cordial, contribute significantly to the overall experience. As for the pizza, it certainly lives up to expectations. Each slice boasts a delightfully crispy crust, providing a satisfying crunch with every bite. The toppings are fresh and thoughtfully selected, making every pizza variety unforgettable. Overall, Stretch Pizza combines fantastic food, inventive drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-visit in NYC.
Pizza Takeout: 7.
2/10 I got the Stranger Pizza (Sweet fennel sausage, roasted peppers, tomato sauce). It tasted okay, unmemorable, very basic pizza. For $28, I expected a much bigger pie, better crust, and better flavors. The other pizza flavors sound interesting but the price is off-putting for the quality I got.
AMAZING SERVICE!! They don't usually deliver but my sister
AMAZING SERVICE!! They don't usually deliver but my sister and I were really hungry and didn't realized we had ordered pick up - we live like 30 minutes away. She called a man who works there and he was so lovely, offering to send someone over free. of. charge. Even though they don't deliver and it was our mistake! So stunned and happy I wish I knew his name
I've always been a fan of Wylie Defresne.
So my foodie pals and I decided to pop in here "just for drinks" because undoubtably there will be interesting cocktails. And there were indeed. We opted for a Thyme's Square basically vodka martini with thyme, bay leaf and marjoram infused...delicious. As we sat and chatted we saw chef Defesne throwing dough in the back. Always a good sign when you catch the actual creator of a place there working the kitchen. He came out and having met him before we all had a nice chat with him and shared some rare chartreuse that one of us had brought along. As he appreciated the lovely beverage, he brought us out some pizza to enjoy while we finished our cocktails...well let me tell you, this place lives up to it's premise of NY PIZZA. They deliver a perfect slice with crunchy light crust and the right tomato and cheese pull. And that single slice immediately put me in the frame of mind to come back to eat a lot more of the menu. It's a fun spot with an enticing menu. Looking forward to another trip!
Very mediocre, overpriced pizza with unprofessional staff
Very mediocre, overpriced pizza with unprofessional staff (to each other). The bartender and the hostess definitely had beef. They were both fine to me but seems like something you shouldn't be putting on display for everyone to see. On top of that, this restaurant hit on nearly every one of my pet peeves...smallest wine pour on earth for $17. Very average wine. We were told 45-60 minute wait yet there were multiple open tables (which is sometimes a reflection of being short-staffed but there were literally waiters everywhere, and it was prime dinner hour on a weekend). Disorganized, poorly managed front of the house (it was not explained that there was also a separate wait for bar stools; also the wait for our dinner table turned out to be 15-20 minutes not 45-60, which is good but makes you wonder how often the estimate swings +30 minutes the other way). Expensive pizza ($26 for 12" with sausage and peppers). Pizza tasted fine, absolutely fine but nothing notable. Specials and half the menu items were unnecessarily weird in a "let's make ourselves stand out" kind of way (pizza with mushroom, muenster and pumpernickel, ew). I mean it wasn't terrible but I see absolutely no reason to return.
Met a friend here for post work drinks and dinner.
The meatball sliders are a MUST get. I am generally not a fan of meatballs but this was a game changer. The other favorite was the mushroom rye crust pizza Other stuff we ordered: cacio e pepe gnocchi, garlic bread with 3 sauces, classic pizza, etc. There was not one bad drink or dish, highly recommended. Staff was warm and friendly as well.
Compared to all othe pizza joints in Nyc and Jersey this
Compared to all othe pizza joints in Nyc and Jersey this was definetly more high end. With Such a great Chef at the helm we thought we were in for a new pizza experience. The menu looks great with nice specials and good diversity. We ordered some drinks and got right to the menu. We ordered the carrot appetizer which was tasty but underwhelming. Maybe 3/4 c. of cooked carrots with some dressing for 15 dollars or so (not sure) that was tatsty but skimpy. Our other Appetizer were Chick Pea fries. 6 of them came with some dipping sauce and we dove in! The fritters were too soft to dip and broke every time we tried. The inside was gooey and loose. We did not enjoy them/although we were hungry and ate all six. For mains we got the Sicilian and the Old Town Pie. The Sicilian was light and airy but had a wierd gass flavor/like from the oven/idk!? My wife had the old towm which when hot was great but as it cooled we realized there was no sauce and it became a little dry and cracker like. We laugjed and said we needed a dipping sauce. The bill was 200 with tip. 3/4 c. carrots 6 fritters 2 personal pizza 2 alcohol drinks Nice experience and got to talk to Chef as he was at the podium, nice guy, but Stretch needs to stretch a bit more if they plan on being around after the tourists go away.
Great place! Highly recommend it! Exceptional service!
Great place! Highly recommend it! Exceptional service! Everything we tried was amazing! Meatballs were the highlight!
Yummy pizza that aren't traditional flavors.
Lots of options. Little pricey, but it was yummy and cool place inside. Our server was very nice and helpful to suggest items.
Super unique pizzas & easy to get reservations :) double
Super unique pizzas & easy to get reservations :) double win! Made a reservation for a Friday night at 6:30 pm. I had booked the bar for 2 people (it's all that was available when I booked ~2 days in advance), but upon checking in they let us choose any table for two -- score! Much prefer a regular table vs bar seating. We split the square pepperoni and the everything pizza. I think the square pepperoni was my favorite of the two; super crispy crust, and the pepperonis were curled & charred - just how I like them. The everything pizza thankfully wasn't too creamy; some bites were incredible & bursting with flavor, others were just okay. I'm curious about the potato chip salad, garlic bread, and soft serve. I think I'll definitely be back & would love to try more of their unique pizza offerings! :) Random note but the bathroom was weirdly hard to get to lol - like a maze of doors, stairs, hallways... Good luck haha.

Came to check out the hype; stayed (and will return) for the food and attention to details! Started off with a caesar salad that featured super fresh and crunchy lettuce evenly tossed in their dressing. While I personally prefer a higher dressing to salad ratio, I liked how their dressing wasn't too heavy or too creamy, but rather more on the citrus side and only gently coats each leaf. The parmesan cheese and fried crisps added additional texture. The Everything pizza exceeded my expectations! The cream cheese layer was well seasoned with everything bagel seasoning without being too salty, and also had a strong garlic aroma. The pizza dough was thin and crispy. I heard that the pizza pans have indentations to help maintain the crispiness of the crusts. More importantly, the ratio of cream cheese layer to dough/crust was perfect!!! I was surprised at how tasty the slices were without it being too creamy/cheesy or too overwhelming. Their dipping sauces were also amazing! The burnt scallion ranch interestingly tasted like black sesame on my initial try, but on further exploration, I could taste the "char" flavors amongst its savoriness. The green goddess was another favorite of mine because it was very pepper-y in addition to the cilantro/herb flavors. Sauces conveniently came in these little mini squeeze bottles. The decor was very cute with red and pink hues, featuring a giant bar and diner-like tables with dim lighting. Staff were polite. I loved how they keep your leftovers warm in a box and hand it to you right before you leave! Also love how there were multiple outlets around the restaurant as well as hooks for bags/coats. These are all little things, but together - in addition to the yummy food - made it an enjoyable dining experience for me!

super yummy, i got the dan dan chicken pizza, i loved the little smores ice cream it was so good
Came with a group of friends on a Sunday evening for dinner.
We had made a rsvp, but the restaurant wasn't too crowded. Ordered two pizzas and two sides for four people, which was just about enough food. Got the stranger and one of the specials. I enjoyed that the menu had a nice variety of pizzas that wasn't overwhelming in selection. My favorite was probably the stranger pizza with the fennel sausage. Bathroom was through some halls and stairways, almost got lost returning from the bathroom. There was signage but very small signs. Loved the interior decor but some of the coat hooks were broken.
Loved this place! Really unique pizzas.
The atmosphere was cute and trendy. The service was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I got the Nellie pizza which had roasted shallots, pickled shallots, and fried shallots. So delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more menu items.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
