Sunset Tower Hotel West Hollywood Reviews from The Last Year
An Elegant Oasis in the heart of Hollywood!
All the top service, comfort and amenities one would expect of a top tier hotel! Impeccable accomodations and service from the moment you arrive! Beds, sheets and pillows envelop in luxury for a great nights rest! Staff across the board provides top notch service! Definitely recommend!
Wonderful historical hotel that nails all the small details that make a stay great
This may be my favorite hotel I've stayed at in LA so far. The outstanding staff and thoughtful small touches make all the difference. The criticism of the rooms themselves not being totally state-of-the-art being made in other reviews is valid. It is a historical hotel, and the rooms aren't huge and don't feel particularly fresh. However I personally like the style of them and appreciate the practical layout. The bed is comfy, the HVAC works well, the shower is strong, there is a desk, there are loads of outlets everywhere, and it is quiet. What more do you need tbh? But I think this is priced in. The rates are often below $300. This is not exactly a luxury hotel, but more of a 4-4.5 star one. It is priced accordingly, and by that standard the rooms are totally adequate. Where this hotel really shines however, is the quality of the service, the countless thoughtful amenities, and the attention to detail. Every single staff member I interacted with was exceptionally friendly and well trained. If you ask them to point you to the restaurant, they walk you there. When you ask for your check at breakfast, they proactively offer you a to-go coffee on the house. When you check in, the guy makes cute dad jokes. As soon as you step off the elevator in the lobby, there is a bellman poised to assist you with luggage or anything else you need. He even speaks English, which is not the case at most hotels these days. They're attentive, competent, and friendly. My experience is other LA luxury hotels is that the staff are often indifferent and incompetent (looking at you SLS). The opposite is true here. The thing I loved is the extent to which they nailed all the small details, something most hotels skimp on since the pandemic. When you check into your room there is a note from the manager and a small gift (in my case a branded candle to take home). The room is stocked with free snacks that are actually really great (popcorn, M&Ms, kind bars, Kettle chips, Milano cookies). They have twice daily housekeeping in an era when similar hotels in this tier have in many cases eliminated daily housekeeping altogether. With the nightly turndown service, they lay out slippers, a bedside cloth, and put freshly baked cookies on your bedside table (absolutely delicious ones). The bath amenities smell delicious. It's like going back in time to before the pandemic when hotels competed on service. I booked it through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, which included free valet parking in addition to the usual F&B credit and free breakfast. That is a great offer, as most hotels are charging $50+/night for parking these days. I will definitely stay here again on future visits to LA.
Perfect Hollywood experience
Great atmosphere, staff and iconic building - you will enjoy the best of everything LA and Hollywood
Another Beautify Stay at Sunset Tower Hotel
My husband and I were in LA for a conference and had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at Sunset Tower. We have stayed at the hotel a number of times over the years, but had not been back to LA since pre-Covid. We were very pleased to see that the hotel, staff and services were just as good as they had been before. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is very good and an overall great vibe. Location is also convenient. We will be back and would highly recommend.
Best. Service. Ever.
5/5 - It’s the service even more than the superior location, history, food and view. The consistent above and beyond service makes you feel special and included in an ethereal atmosphere that would otherwise be intimidating. We love Dimitri - he greeted us so warmly and thought of everything before we could and kept that going throughout our stay. John and Carlos were extra kind and attentive. Housekeeping and valet were impeccable. We brought kids, and I was worried that they might be a little much given the hotels adult reputation, but they were treated so kindly and rate this is the favorite hotel they’ve ever stayed. We love Sunset Tower so much that we can’t wait to come back. Don’t skip room service or taking in the view from the Terrace!
Art Deco Charm with Fabulous staff!
This is my third stay at the Sunset Tower Hotel and I will definitely be back. The staff bent over backwards to help me, and they are always warm and welcoming. The hotel renovation maintains the historic charm of the Art Deco period with the comfort and cleanliness of any modern hotel. The poolside breakfast is the best way to start the day!
Great service and common areas, rooms seriously lacking for high quality hotel.
Anthony at the desk was kind and communicative for the check in process. Barbara in the restaurant was also so kind and welcoming. Angel at the restaurant also a gem—very attentive and friendly! Major shout out to the valet staff. The only area this hotel is seriously lacking is the quality of the room. I understand it is old Hollywood style, but there are absolutely ways to update rooms to feel fresh and new while maintaining that style. If I were to stay again, it would strictly be for the top notch service because other hotels on sunset have much nicer bedrooms. I did enjoy my stay, though, and loved the staff.
Food is amazing and so is the ambiance.
Love the live music and good cocktails. The host was super sweet, but the waiter's service was lacking. This caused me to knock a star off because it was bad. I would return since I very much liked it, hopefully I get a better waiter.
Stylish spot with great views of the city
We enjoyed spending our 31st anniversary at this hotel. we used the Am Ex program and got a nice upgrade that was greatly appreciated. We had a spacious suite with a balcony overlooking the city in the little building with the restaurant next to the tall hotel. Everyone was nice and the valet worked seamlessly. I can't wait to come back and stay in the original building sometime,
Old world luxury and comforts - one of my favorite retreats!
We returned for a second stay at the historic Sunset Towers Hotel. My husband's mom is a long-time movie buff - so she loved the posters of the original movie stars, the history of the Towers book, and lore of Hollywood. But most importantly, the staff are truly the best; gracious, understated in their attentiveness, kind and helpful. We did bring our 10 and 12 year old children and they loved the Terrace Restaurant dinner with their grandmother - shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, fried chicken... That being said, they were the only kids in the restaurant, so it needs to be a certain knid of child that is happy to eat in the elegant and grown-up enviornment. This is our go-to special home when we come to LA
Management Team were excellent
We had a great time at the hotel. It’s an iconic landmark in Hollywood. As such we found ourselves staying at the same time as several parties hosted for the Oscars which were happening that weekend. This meant some of the facilities were unavailable. This was initially disappointing, however the management team went above and beyond to ensure that this didn’t disrupt our enjoyment by arranging for a late checkout so we could use the pool and additionally offered discounts on checkout. There was a real sense that the management team were determined to ensure that our stay was a good one, so we are very grateful for that as as such have no problem recommending this hotel.

Just a classic, historic hotel bar/restaurant to people-watch, enjoy one too many martinis, and listen to live piano on some evenings.
not accessible.
I came to this hotel for an event and they have an elevator out front for THREE stairs. it was like a freight elevator and it took half an hour and calling the engineer and it STILL didn't work. do not fooled if they say they are handicap accessible. it may be in theory but you'll be stuck in their pathetic excuse for an elevator.

We're strolling off the "shit caked" streets of Sunset
We're strolling off the "shit caked" streets of Sunset Boulevard...as I'm staring at a pile about to push the crosswalk button I'm starting to wonder if that actually came from a dog ... please let that be dog shit...the air is a lot grimmer these days...a man in surf board shorts is screaming from the top of his lungs as he searches through a trash filled container...hotels stopped rinsing off their sidewalks because "what's the point" ... they'll just be back tomorrow ... the revellers ... the destitute... the drunks...ready to piss all over your sidewalk one new day after another...jeez... that's a pretty grim picture ... but it doesn't have to be...this is Sunset... it takes a thick skin to graze this boulevard... but it's still a hella a lot of fun... it's always been ... Far removed from the 80s and 90s when things were more respectable among the comedians and rockers and star fuckers of the world... the star map vans... the out of towners hoping to catch a glimpse of a celebrity ... a ghost even... of a man or a woman that has filled their television screens in their lonely small towns across America... here they ride one last ride to lasso in that picture of fame and take with them back home a memory or a conquest of something magical... someone special... something "Hollywood" ...well not much has changed on Sunset... We scurry in from the detritus...and find a happy solace at the Sunset Tower ... the sweet lady hostess lets us in anyway as I think 3pm is the cut off for outside guests...so we ask what type of desserts they have... She says "we only have home made cookies now..." Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal... she says... I'm home again... It's quiet here... small potted palm trees adorn the seating rooms center stage...the pool is cold and empty and hangs low over a huge Mega Screen depicting Joaquin Phoenix's new film NAPOLEON...but it's not ominous here.. that was outside ... inside the crystal clear blue water from the pool sits calmly serenely overlooking the Culver City high rises and Saban's bubble venue Theater... the contrailed riddled sky can't hide all the blue the Los Angeles sky has to offer... and suddenly the sun starts to break through the clouds... A cappuccino will couple nicely on a quaint afternoon... it's so quiet inside here.. the waiters are warm and friendly ... the guests are smiling and imbibing afternoon cocktails; prepping their wedding parties; a writers group congregates over a booth... it's friendly here ... I tell one of the waiters that's he's rocking a trend setting mullet the likes of which I have to say ... was pretty darn cool... and he laughs and agrees... it was an epic mullet and yet cool af... The French accented waiter tells me the top penthouse could go for $2500 to $3000 depending on the days and the plans; some stage dinner parties there... and back in the 20's ... the ROARING 20's mind you... I'm sure those open terraced rooms hosted the likes of Hollywood Stars; Producers; and Directors of films that you and I watch every Christmas or New Year snuggled around our cozy television sets... Today all I need though is another bite of this oat meal cookie... the black and white stills of days of Hollywood past adorn the walls... "here's looking at you kid..." I feel the veins of Old Hollywood here... the ghosts... they possess you a little here... We're traveling back in time...it's a lovely afternoon and the cookies are fine... the coffee is fine... I'm feeling a hell of a lot better now... And back out we go!
If you like comfort, top notch amenities in a relaxed low
If you like comfort, top notch amenities in a relaxed low key luxurious environment, this is your place. The location is my favorite. I'm not a tourist by all means. I've lived here my entire adult life, I know where to go and what to avoid. Traveling to LA can be tricky. You can go wrong around the area. The most fun and vibrant for all ages. Weekend brunch is a must. The view is stunning. Enjoy and if you are looking for solid restaurants check out my likes.

A Hollywood institution, Sunset Tower Hotel is an excellent
A Hollywood institution, Sunset Tower Hotel is an excellent home away-from-home. It brings back the glamour of old Hollywood at the time when movies were movies. The hotel accommodation and service are excellent that you will always feel special. Nothing beats the feeling of being in the pool while enjoying a view of the city. They serve the best meals too; kudos to the expertise of chefs Patrick and Chase, two young masters of the kitchen. The person who attended to us at the Tower Bar, Barbara, was very professional, friendly and personable. So, whenever you find yourself in Los Angeles, stay at the Sunset Tower Hotel and feel like a movie star!

The only reason this venue gets 2 stars is because the staff was overly friendly and extremely accommodating even after we skipped out on dinner mostly because the prices seem insane for what looks like rabbid dog food. We had a few cocktails by their dirty reservoir or rather what was advertised as a "pool" and mingled about in the indoor lounge. It was absolutely dead for a Thursday night which is embarrassing, especially for its prime location on the strip. Clearly sunset's heyday is over so unless you are a washed up z-list actor or dirty New Yorker, you will not be found here. Immediate skip card

This is my absolute favorite hotel bar, poolside place to come & people watch. Still one of the very few boutique hotels to do great people watching. The food & coffee is amazing here. The service is impecable. & the ambiance is still very old hollywood.
We enjoyed our recent stay at Sunset Tower very much.
The valet service was very efficient and check in process was very fast. Our luggage was brought up to our room within ten minutes. The suite was spacious and comfortable decorated in beautiful old Hollywood glamour style. We loved the view of the city from the windows. We were able to communicate with the front desk staff via text message and it was extremely easy and convenient. They responded to our needs right away- a phone charger, extra water, breakfast reservations- everything was taken care of right away. I loved their toiletries- they recently switched from Kiehl's to a house fruit scent and it's amazing. The hotel is in the perfect location within minutes to great shopping and amazing restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel if you are ever in the West Hollywood area.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
