Sushi Hirokawa Osaka
In terms of food quality, services, pricing, atmosphere, the restaurant performed excellently as many top tier restaurants with higher rating. However, you may not be able to find form other restaurants with higher rating are, the sincereness to provide the best products to customers, the friendliness to treat customers as their family members, from the chef and his colleague where we could actually feel.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely Unprofessional and Disrespectful
I have made a reservation at Sushi Hirokawa more than 2 months ago, prior to my visit to Japan, and I have been very excited to finally try the restaurant. I completely paid for it in advance for 2 persons through Pocket Concierge, only to be told last minute, on the day of my travel, thay they had to cancel my reservation due to an error made by the clerk for my allocated booking slot. I did not book this 1 or 2 days ago, but months in advance. You would think that a "Michelin" restaurant would be way more professional at handling customers but unfortuntaley this is not the case with Sushi Hirokawa. I hve planned everything for this trip many months in advance, and I am really disappointed that it had to start this way, as informing me last minute didn't even allow me to book at another restaurant, as everything was already fully booked. I will also contact the Michelin guide due to this disrespect and unprofessnalism in dealing with guests. Regards Mohammad

Sushi Hirokawa is a small cosy restaurant that seats only 8 to 10 and not easy to find. It is on the second floor and a small sign in Japanese next to the staircase marks the entrance to the restaurant. They have only 2 seatings of 10 persons every night so it is best to reserve a month ahead. There is no menu and they only serve Omakase course. Cost is about 14000 yen per person and it is one of the best value for money high end sashimi and sushi restaurant in Osaka. The sashimi and sushi were all extremely fresh and from finer cuts of seasonal fish. All in all there were about 19 servings & we were all full, happy and satisfied after the meal.
Sashimi and cooked food 6 servings
Salmon roe and crab
Tai fish sashimi
Lightly seared sashimi of Sakhalin surf clams
Chawanmushi with crab legs
Scabbard fish grilled and served with daikon
Mackerel with jellyfish and edible dry chrysanthemums
Sushi 13 servings
Ika (squid)
Hirame (flounder)
Amaebe (deep water shrimp)
Sayori (Halfback)
Akagai (Conch)
Maguro seasoned (Tuna)
Otoro
Gizzard shad
Kuruma (tiger prawn)
Uni (sea urchin)
Aji (Japanese horse mackerel)
Anago (conger eel)
Akagai maki
Tamago
Perfect sushi for seatood lover
This restaurant gave us a warm welcome, even though the staff cannot speak much English l but they try to explain us all the dish we have and they are all delicious.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Experience
Reserved a 9 PM tasting a few weeks before I was in Osaka. The two hour dinner was all in all a great experience. Food was incredible and masterfully prepared (virtually no wasted movement behind the counter for the entire 2 hours), service was personable and light hearted, and sake recommendations on point. Really great value compared to other Edomae style restaurants.

Just finish dinner at this place. There are 2 sittings starting from 6pm or 9pm.
The dinner last 2 hours as there are more than sushi (sashimi, grill food and cooked food) at this place. For 12,000y pp before tax n service, incredible value compared to some other places we tried in Osaka (sushi Kurosugi, sushi Chiharu).
Overall we found the quality to the price value very acceptable and reasonable. Do not think you can get this quality in Tokyo or Kyoto.
The chef places lots of emphasis on the taste, presentation and portion.
The restaurant only serves dinner and closes on Sundays and 1sr Monday of the month. Some English spoken by the staff.
Will definitely return.
Just fabulous
Superb quality of sushi here. The sushi master was lovely and friendly as well as his service team. Ingredients were of top end quality. Reasonable priced. Wish to return when next in Osaka.

Long story short: it was amazing! That's true that chefs don't speak english but they will show you everything using just their hands:) Waitress spoke some english so she explained and named all the items we were having. She recommended sake as well. Amazing experience. If you're looking for not too expensive Michelin Star sushi- that's the one.
