Sushi Note Omakase Beverly Hills Reviews from The Last Year
Just another Beverly Hills marked up scam.
Set menu was drench In ponzu sauce to masked the quality of the fish. Wine paring didn't make any sense, it didn't go right with each dish. The restaurant is pretty much an old janitor closet that's been converted to a small dining area. The server mentioned that the head chef was from Japan to make it sound more authentic, the server then realized that 4 members of our party dining is from Japan and out of curiosity they asked where in Japan, he then reply that oh he was only born there and moved when he was young . The only good part was the Vallet driver was funny and honest and well just keep it at that.
I thought a lot about this review before posting it.
TLDR: great service, but food is not worth the price. Positives: The service here was impeccable - very nice, friendly, and the level of service you would expect from a restaurant like this. Additionally, the food presentation was done very well, and the last 3 savory items were the few items I loved: uni, wagyu, and torotaku. Where this place fell short for me was the food - nearly everything on the menu was lacking flavor, the opposite of what you should get for this price ($190/person before tax and tip). I've been to numerous omakase sushi restaurants at lesser, equal, and higher price ranges and this was by far my least favorable experience - this was the only omakase sushi experience I've walked away from feeling disappointed. Starting with the amuse-bouche course to the last course, flavor lacked and the fish was less tender/soft/melting than I've experienced with sushi at this price range. Overall, the fish lacked flavor - both the fish itself and the sauce/toppings that were added. Particularly the hotate, which is typically my favorite - it was a bit tough and the hotate itself didn't have flavor and the toppings hardly added any taste. I wanted to love this restaurant, especially since I came here for a special occasion, but unfortunately I would not recommend this place to friends, family, or the Yelp community. Additionally, it is odd to me that this place touts being on Rodeo Drive, but it's underground inside a parking garage. It is a very nice parking garage, but not necessarily where I want to eat an expensive meal in Beverly Hills. Lastly, when I was seated, there were 2 open seats at the bar so I asked if it was available and if I could sit there; 2 other couples also subsequently asked, but we were all separately declined. However, those 2 seats remained empty the entire time which was even more odd since the pricing for the dining room and bar are the same, and it's a 14 seat restaurant where we can all see the empty seats. Lastly, you have to pay the tip when you make the reservation, before you experience anything which is something I haven't seen before.
This sushi bar is located in the valet parking area of
This sushi bar is located in the valet parking area of where the Cartier is currently housed. Its a small place that probably holds around 16 customers per seating. Its quaint, nicely decorated and I like the ambiance a lot. Sevice was impeccable, everyone is truly amazing from the front of the house to the Sommelier and the sushi chef that served the food. The sushi was amazing and literally so good, I am not a chu-toro nor a o-toro fan but I was a fan of theirs. Soooo good, everything was really fresh and truly an experience to eat each and everyone of the sushi presented to us. We sat at the bar and that was really fun as we had awesome conversation with the chefs and was able to get more information on the sushi we were eating. If you do go, I recommend the bar. Also, to reply about the over wasabi that people have said, I honestly did not have that issue whatsoever but I can say that they use fresh wasabi and not the powder type that gets turned into wasabi paste, maybe that fresh taste comes off as being too strong. Nevertheless, i will say that on our dining experience we didn't have that issue at all. I truly appreciated the amount given and the salt added on the dish that needed it. Why only a 4*? I think for the money we pay, it was definitely not enough food to keep you full. I normally never leave a place hungry specially after paying 500 dollars but in this instance I left the place a bit hungry not a lot but a bit :) ... also the fact that the appetizers where counted as 1 course each was disappointing coz I would count that as 1 even though there were 3 dishes in the plate. With this said, If you have an extra 500, it's an experience to try.
Overall an excellent experience- the service was prompt and
Overall an excellent experience- the service was prompt and friendly, the food was delicious, ands the fish was excellent quality with good presentation and interesting flavors but not overwhelming like other places who try to do too much without letting the quality and simple flavors speak for themselves. I saw other reviews about the sommelier and I'm not sure if we had the same one but he was very pleasant and nice, we had a very good experience and we didn't end up going with the wine pairing but he was helpful and explained our options without being pushy. My two complaints were 1, I agree with others who have mentioned the Wasabi. I felt the chef was inconsistent with how much Wasabi was between the fish and rice, and there were a few pieces that were a bit heavy handed in my opinion. The uni in particular felt a bit overwhelmed by the Wasabi. And 2, I did definitely leave feeling hungry / unsatisfied. We had the opportunity to order more food, but I felt I would have liked to have something a bit more filling or satisfying. Even a miso soup would have been nice. I don't need to feel super full especially after omakase but I don't want to be considering stopping somewhere else on the way home either. Aside from that, the experience was really good. It is a small establishment that is slightly tucked away on the lowest level of a courtyard. When it is such an intimate setting you expect a lot more attentiveness and they delivered without us feeling like they were "hovering" which is a fine line that they did very well. I loved every bite. The 14 day aged fish was a real treat, the flavors were amazing. We also loved the ebi with caviar, and the tuna and radish hand roll at the end which was flavorful and the seaweed was light and crispy. The Toro and tuna were both melt-in-your-mouth. Overall it felt like a good value for the price although again I could have used a bit more food personally.
Amazing sushi and great ambiance.
Would highly recommend the wine pairing. Service was exceptional and even told us the background on the different fish we were having.
Me and my wife had a saturday night dinner at this
Me and my wife had a saturday night dinner at this resturant recently, they were gracious enough to reschedule us, however honestly for the price tag which is approaching michelin level resturants, I was a bit disappointed. 1. They put wasabi and soy sauce in all their sashimi and it kind of overrides the taste and does not allow the taste of the fish itself to shine through. That was probably my biggest issue with the food, too much wasabi and soy sauce, makes me think they are not confident in letting their food's original taste speak for itself. 2. For omakase, which is chef's creation, not very original. The multicourse meal was pretty much a selection of different fish on rice with wasabi in the middle. Few of the courses were inventive, or did anything particularly interesting with texture or taste. Overall food was fine. Just disappointed because I expected more, perhaps my faut for thinking this is Michelin level resturant.

I truly did not think it was ever possible to get a real,
I truly did not think it was ever possible to get a real, authentic Japanese omakase experience in LA... until I went to Sushi Note. The food, the service, the ambience- all reminiscent of an upscale sushi restaurant in Tokyo. Chef Earl is an artist. Every single bite we had was absolute perfection. From the quality of the fish, to the textures, to the temperature of the fish and rice, to the flavors and toppings on the fish and even the rice to fish ratio. We sat at the bar and the timing of each omakase piece was flawless. It's so hard to choose, but out of the 20 menu items we tried, I would have to say that my favorites were the red snapper, the otoro, the seared toro (we had this instead of the Uni), the A5 Wagyu and the toro with pickled daikon hand roll/taco. I love the way the otoro was treated and cut. It literally melted in my mouth. Now the wagyu piece- WOW!!! That pickled shallot on top was really special. And the yuzu ice cream was just such a great way to end the whole meal. We weren't even halfway through when I told my husband I'm going to be so upset when this meal is over. I also really loved that Chef Earl took the time to talk to us about the whole concept of Sushi Note. I felt his love and dedication to his craft in every explanation he gave and in every bite we took. Can't wait to come back. Most epic sushi experience in LA, hands down!!
Wow! Amazing food, service, and experience.
Everything is highly curated- from fish selection (some of which is really unique), to cuts, to music, to environment to selections of sake and Japanese beer. Servers are very attentive and highly knowledgeable. A really unique sushi experience that is a little more artisanal than typical Omakase in LA- highly recommend! Can't wait to go back.
Located at the parking level of the Rodeo Dr plaza.
Once you pull in the restaurant is located next to the valet. Did not opt for wine pairing. Had a Pilsner and Sara Sara unfiltered sake. If you like jasmine than the Pilsner worth a try with a nice hint of jasmine finish. Sale is not as cloudy as your typical unfiltered. I like mines a bit more cloudy and found this one kind of caught in between. I would opt for the dry instead with a cleaner finish. Bar seating is limited and only 4 seats. If you can probably try to get a bar seat. Meal is pace nicely and chef goes into detail explaining each piece. 3/4 pieces was aged fish which offer more melt in you mouth and tenderness. Couple of highlights definitely was a marinated brandy mackerel it's got little bitter. Some might hate it, but I found it interesting and never had it before. Quite a different take. Baby shrimp was a mother great piece with zero sauce. Enjoy the ingredients nothing else. Uni is always great. If I had to say I find it sort of a cross between sushi zo and enya with little more modern take. Finish in-house gelato made with rice vinegar they use for their rice. It's worth trying if you're a sushi lover especially if you don't want to drive all the way to Sherman Oaks for their original location.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Banned from Resy for selling reservations- Do we have a rat on our hands???
I am new to this app and started off by selling a polo bar reservation and then quickly sold one more reservation. Not long after I received emails from Resy saying all my reservations are cancelled and I am being banned from Resy for life. How could this have possibly happened without a rat telling Resy that I sold the reservation. I need some advice on this situation and let’s catch the rat!
Give the best answerBid and Buy Instantly
I have a big ongoing and it also shows someone is working on my bid. Today I see there is a " Buy Instantly " option at my portfolio showing same price I've bid for a reservation. I'm a bit confused, since my money has already been deducted from my credit card for the bid, do I need to pay one more time for the Buy Instantly? If I choose Buy Instantly, can I cancel my bid ( while someone is working on it )? Thanks!

You can only deposit $50 at a time until you earn the “Sales and Low Refund Medal” I believe. Im new to this as well but the ability to deposit more money at once and increase your amount of listings comes with that medal.
