Stumbled upon this lovely restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by their delicious food and accommodating service. Definitely will comeback to try their lunch buffet and other menus.

You want a quick lunch that is really tasty and reasonably priced? Go to tamarind. You want authentic Indian with good service? Go to tamarind. You want a place where quality is number one and flavor in every bite? Go to tamarind? I feel like I was taken back to New Delhi with the decor and ambiance inside the restaurant. The naan bread is killer. The chutneys are delicious. The tandoori chicken is mouth watering. Go to tamarind.

I'm not sure who owns this restaurant but years ago, it was delicious. All our items were served at the perfect temperature and everything was tasty. Start with an order of samosas. Tandoori oven chicken served with rice and eggplant is also a winner.

Be the first to ReplyI went to have the lunch buffet and was not allowed to sit
I went to have the lunch buffet and was not allowed to sit next to the window. The older long haired gentleman was very rude and told me I could only sit in the middle. Very hot inside. The place only had about 5 groups scattered through the restaurant. When I asked why, he said I just couldn't. We decided to not argue with him and left.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my favorite Pakistani, Indian food.
It is not too spicy and the buffet (lunch only) has 10 variety of freshly prepared meals (changes weekly). My co-worker from Pakistan introduced me to this restaurant and now it has become our monthly and sometimes weekly visit. The staff is friendly and the restaurant has plenty of tables for big parties up to 15 people. There is plenty of free parking from the local shopping center.
Be the first to ReplyI saw Tamarind last week as we came to this shopping center
I saw Tamarind last week as we came to this shopping center to eat at another Middle Eastern restaurant. I walked in to view the lunch buffet offerings and was impressed. Today, I came in to try the food. I'll have to say that I was NOT disappointed! There was a good mix of meat and vegetarian offerings , and none disappointed. In particular, I loved the stewed goat; tender and flavorful. And 4 different chicken dishes, each perfectly seasoned and spiced different from the others. My mouth is still dancing. And I won't forget the salad, dressed with a traditional oil and vinegar. Finally, I complete with an excellent rice pudding. Kudos to the owners and staff of Tamarind. I wish you well.

Great Food Great Service The place looks upscale and their prices are very good. I went today with a party of 8 people (I wore shorts and a Tshirt btw)...and the service was delightful. We have been here before for their weekly buffet so we already knew the food was going to be very tasty. The rest of our party really do not eat outside what their normally used to but gave Tamarind a chance from my high reccomendation, and they were very pleased that they listened to me. Tamarind, the Owner, and staff were all great. Compliments to the chef. I guarantee my family will return and they have made new loyal customers after tonight. I wish I would have taken pictures of the plates, but since it was a birthday celebration, all the food was gone in our bellies before I even thought about taking pictures. Next time I go, I will update with pictures.

12/15/2023 We were on our way back to San Diego and ordered a take out from Tamarind. We picked up food so that we can eat when we get home. Ordered Nihari Chicken Karhai 5 plain naan @$2.75 each We were told they close at 10 pm on Friday and we picked up at 8:30 pm. Nihari was nothing but JUST meat srapped from the bottom of the pot with no curry, well may be a teaspoon of curry. Picture attached. Chicken karhai was fine and ALL five naans were burnt. Picture attached. Cannot express how disappointed we were when we reached home hungry after two hours. Extremely mad and disappointed !!

Ordered this on doordash to fulfill my Indian cravings I was having. Ordered the chicken tikki masala, tandoori chicken, lamb saag, veggie samosas and naan. Not sure where to begin but everything was of the worst quality. Tikki masala had little to no flavor and the chicken was shredded. In all my years of having Indian food I've never seen one prepared this way. The lamb saag tasted horrible. The lamb melted in all the wrong ways and just had a very off taste. The veggie samosa filling was flavorless for most part. Last but not least the tandoori chicken had no integrity to it. It fell apart like it had been in heat for 2 weeks or something. Very off putting experience and not going to return after this especially how sick I feel after eating this food a day later. My explanation for the quality isssues is two things. Huge batches pre prepared and simply chefs that don't know what they're doing/ have no quality standard in the kitchen. If you're in the mood for anything Indian I would steer clear. Thanks for the awful meal that I paid an arm and leg for. Oh and had a dessert that was 100% sweet and 0% flavor. Completely shocked.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent customer service.
Very good portions and food was very tasty. I spoke to the restaurant to place a big order, the staff was very nice and understanding. The food was hot and tasted fresh. Will visit again.
Be the first to ReplyNot the same any more by a 1000 miles.
Infact the worst Punjabi food I have EVER had. Absolutely garbage. We make the same dishes 100x better at home. BG: 5-6 yrs back, we used to frequent this place quite often as the owner was very friendly and food was authentic and awesome. But few years back we stopped after a couple of bad experiences. Last bad episode, when we treated our neighbors after highly touting the place, but the food (3 of 4 dishes) were very salty and we complained to the owner. The bill was $120.xx something and we either expected he would offer to remake the dishes or offer some refund at the end. Neither happened. But we did not say anything out of respect for him & our friends. Just decided the place is not worth our business anymore. Fast forward yesterday - We had no plans to eat there but were passing by and took a wrong exit and this restaurant was right there. So as a reminder of good old days, thought of picking few dishes to go. I greeted the owner and asked it he could make us our Fav dishes - Paneer Tikka Masala & Veg Kadhai. He readily agreed. They got the dishes n Naan ready in no time. When we sat in the car, ready to leave, noticed the oil was leaking from the container, so took it out to tighten/check and to our horror, the Veg Kadhai dish was looking like a bag of frozen VegAll - Corn, Carrots & Green beans & some oil & onions and watery gravy. NOTHING ELSE. See pics. Thats it. And it tasted so blend and horrible especially when you cook frozen beans, you know how they taste. This time I was not going to take the crap anymore. Not only since the Pandemic, restaturants are charging 50-100% more on the same dishes but the quality is becoming poorer & poorer. As if they have no pride or joy left in cooking & serving their customers.I went back in and spoke with the owner and said these are not the ingredients of Veg Kadai, They have green & red bell peppers at the heart of it, cauli-flower, fresh green beans, onions, etc. and thick yellow gravy. He said Veg Kadhai is VegAll ingredients for the most part and they did not have red or green bell pepper in stock and made excuses that in the past we sat & ate at the restaurant and to come again and sit & eat. WTF !?I persisted and then he hesitantly agreed to make me another dish. Do not have much Veg options, so settled for a simple Aloo Gobbie (potatoes & cauliflower dish), which I was hoping it being simple would be well made. When making it, i saw him being disgruntled and talking to the other worker.I wish, I had just asked for a refund and left everything there and walked out. But ended up even more disappointed when we reached home and opened up and tasted Aloo Gobbi. That thing was sickening to see & eat. It was completely mashed up like a pav-bhaaji and tasted sour as if gone bad from making it a few days prior n storage. Has to be, as it was made within minutes. And both Indian & Paki restaurants are very renouned for such practises. Anyway, the food all went to trash. Except for the Paneer dish which was maybe a 4 or max 5 out of 10. Nothing like a 10, they used to make it in their glory days when you could taste rich individual spices in the gravy. To the owner, respectfully, if you do not want to cater to Veg customers anymore or special order items, pls Say No. Do not make a fool of us by serving us abs. crap. And if you have any pride in your food & reputation, you will hire a new chef and refund my last order at the very least. You know who I am. Lastly, we go to restaurants and spend exorbitant amounts for a special treat of that authentic food to keep us closer to back home & not for some forced crap & get frustrated & ruin otherwise a perfectly good day and/or occassion. You all be the judge from pics below. 3rd pic is of authentic Kadhai Vegetable.
Be the first to ReplyI was craving Indian as I was running errands in the area
I was craving Indian as I was running errands in the area so I called in to get their $12.95 2-curry takeout special.ใQUICK TIPSใ# Their food is plain but decent. They need more work on the curries and sauces as it only tastes like a tomato base.# Come inside to enjoy their $16.95 daily lunch buffet (11-2:30 pm). Yes, daily, not just weekdays. I regret doing their takeout special instead of paying $3-4 more to pig out at their buffet.# No time to do their lunch buffet or sit down for dinner? You can get their $11.95 takeout special. Each plate comes with a naan and small salad.ใend QUICK TIPSใOnce I arrived, I stared at the lunch buffet sign and felt some level of regret not just doing the lunch buffet for a few bucks more, but oh well...I already committed to a take-out order. The 2-curry platter I got had chicken tikka masala and chicken karahi. Both were tomato-based sprinkled with cilantro and had no heavy cream or any kind of dairy in it. That's not a problem, but I was hoping for the earthy spices to come through instead. The karahi was better than the tikka however both didn't have deep flavors. It tasted like a casual home-cooked meal, not restaurant-grade though. Yet, the chicken in both curries was cooked perfectly, very soft and tender, which came as a pleasant surprise, because many places stew the chicken in the same pot forever causing the chicken to firm. They nailed the actual cooking of the chicken. I didn't expect the texture of the chicken to be that good when the curry sauces tasted light and too simple.I'd definitely come back to try their lunch buffet to get a full picture of the restaurant. They do have to work on intensifying the flavor on their curries and sauces so it's not plain and forgettable. The sauces are the foundation of Indian cooking so they can't let that slide. As much as the chicken was tender, it can't make up for the curry itself.
Be the first to ReplyGreat buffet.
Everything I tried was super flavorful. The fresh nan bread is amazing. Friendly staff.
Be the first to ReplyThe saltiest chicken tikka masala I have ever ordered.
It felt like they used sea water to make it, it was that salty. You can't tell me that's what it should taste like because I had plenty from other restaurants and it doesn't taste this salty. Waste of money. Never again. The garlic naan was good but not worth returning.
Be the first to ReplyStop by their lunch buffet for a quick bite.
Tried the Karahi Fish for the first time. I highly recommend it. It is now my favorite better than the typical chicken tikka masala
Be the first to ReplyAmazing pakistani BBQ and they're buffet is very tasty.
I enjoy coming here with my family. The owner is very nice and hospitable. I highly recommend coming having dinner or lunch here!
Be the first to ReplyCame to have lunch at this place with my boss.
This was my first time having Indian food and they did not disappoint. We came for their buffet option which I had two full plates, several of their bread they bring to you on the side, and their rice pudding dessert. Everything was so good. Service was fast. I definitely enjoyed this place for sure. Oh and they even gave us this milky tea which was quite tasty! (You have to ask for this)

Great food and service as always, the only thing I would suggest is the air circulation system.

this place is so good!!! i've been here 3x now and it never disappoints. i get the shrimp masala, garlic naan, and veggie samosas!! would 100% recommend
Be the first to ReplyI rate this restaurant 0.
Service is awful. Absolutely no hospitality. Not many options in buffet. Never seen a Indian restaurant without biryani. They don't have starters in the buffet. People don't care to answer your questions. Buffet is awful. Totally they just don't care the customer needs.
Be the first to ReplyThe owner shouldn't own a restaurant.
The guy is just pissed off sitting in the corner and never asked if anything was needed so things like ordering a drink didn't happen. The chicken on the buffet was not to temp. The naan had such a werid taste to it. Honestly don't understand how this place is in business
Be the first to ReplyI used to love the food here pre COVID but my first time
I used to love the food here pre COVID but my first time since the pandemic started was subpar. The naan as usual is not fluffy compared to other places but still garlicky. The chicken tikka was so mushy an elderly person with no dentures could have chewed it. It was obviously sat in marinade for wayyyyyy too long. The texture was really off-putting. The paneer Tikka masala tasted good but I wish they gave more paneer. The highlight was the samosas and the sauces which were exactly how I remember. Crunchy, fresh and flavorful. The staff are really nice and they have a good lunch deal for weekdays but I don't think I'd be coming back anymore since the chicken was soooo badThis place is located next to the innout and across the street from Cravings by 99 ranch. The closest parking lot is a bit small but the complex as a whole has a lot of parking.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has okay food but TERRIBLE customer service.
After trying it the first time, it really doesn't make you want to go back again. Great customer service is what makes you stand out and this place is pretty unforgettable. The gentleman who answers the phone and takes orders is very rude. He makes it seem like he's doing you a favor and really just ruins the whole experience.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is soooo good.
The food has so much flavor. The lamb is so tender and the tandoori chicken is to die for. What brings this place down is the price. You have to buy meats, rice, and naan all separate and it really adds up. Also the service kinda makes you fight to be there it's hard to explain. The food however makes it worth.
