Lively spot with a good vibe.
First off, the chicken tikka was one of the best prepared chicken meals I've ever had. Simple flavors & the texture was otherworldly. Something magical they do in marinating it. The lamb was 8/10 for me, but if you like gamie lamb, it may be an even higher rating for you. It was cooked perfectly. The rice for 2 portion was small but doable. The chicken dopyaza I was all excited for, but it was a bit of a let down. I've had better in NYC. We also had the mango/avocado chat that was excellent. The ONE thing I didn't like, was that they charge the same price for drinks with no alcohol ("mocktails") as those with alcohol which seems not right. To their credit, when there was a slight mix-up In a drink order, they gave us a free one (on the house) but even so, we still had a hefty drink tab that was a bit much for teetotalers. If an establishment is taking out the rum, gin or whiskey (at presumably 3-4$/shot), they should lower the price. IMHO. Needless to say, The service was excellent. Finally, the okra (bhindi) dish is one of my all time favorites, it's what I came here for & it didn't disappoint. It was one of the best I've had--the layers of flavors were out of this world. Spicy & delish! Enjoy.

May I strongly suggest you get the slow cooked lamb shank?! It just falls off the bone and so tender. You will not regret it. Also the lettuce with avocado and mango- delicious. If things are too spicy order the mango lassi drink - although it's not as cold so I dropped a few of my drinks ice cubes in thereWe get the vegetable kebabs which was not what I was expecting but good. The butter chicken was good too but get the lamb shank!!!!!

Light & fresh.Slow cooked lamb & butter chicken had the best spices. Garlic & cheese naan is a must to scoop all of the goodness up.& the Kumquat Sour was the perfect blend of sweet/bitter/smoky/happy :)

My husband and I chanced upon this and Yelpers just confirmed it. Amazing! This place transformed me from a non-Indian food eater to one! I never liked Indian cuisine but while In London, it's not to be missed. Server Clayton was very helpful and recommended us some dishes. As he puts it ... "if you don't like it, I'll bring it home!" With that we had the Soft Shell Crab, Wild Tandoori Green Prawn, Chargrilled Lamb Chops, Old Delhi Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan Bread. Needless to say, Clayton had nothing to bring home!

Fine dining Indian style! The wild tandoori prawn was excellent! It's one giant prawn that can be shared but you'll probably want your own! Also the black pepper chicken tikka was superb! Loved it so much we ordered two more! Chicken biryani's also very good. Also I'd recommend the Bhuna ghost!

So so SO GOOD!! Clayton our server was bomb- gave us the best recommendations and helped us pick delish items such as the fish appetizer, paneer and saag- which are totally known Indian dishes but done so right here! Garlic naan was amazing and the staff very nice & professional.Highly recommend!!
Be the first to ReplyHigh heat and creative Indian dishes in Soho London.
The pav bahdi and papdi chaat were flavorful (tamarinds renditions of street foods) and an added surprise of yogurt and pomegranate seeds. We also got the mixed platter with wild prawn (perfection), lamb seekh kabob (a little over cooked), chicken tikka (tender and flavorful). The chicken kevala was a creamy rich curry that had the perfect balance of heat and cool. Finally, the yellow dal was authentic, smooth, almost like a creamy soup and had added mustard seed, it was one of our favorite dishes. Butter naan was ok but didn't taste fresh (a little tough). Overall a great experience in a beautifully decorated old Soho building. We got the kumquat sours (their version of a whiskey sour) made with bourbon and cardamom and it was one of the best cocktails we've ever tasted. Highly recommend!

Food is fine, although but many other places equally good in that area. One star cause their service sucks. Made a reservation but was given the worst possible cramped table. Waiters have huge attitude. Had to call them for everything. Charged 8 pounds for water, very nicely tricked us into buying it, even though they were serving tap water to others. 12.5% mandatory tip for the worst possible service. Waiters acted as if they are too good for their job. Never going there again. Staff needs to stop hating their jobs. If you are too good for this job, go be a CEO. Otherwise threat customers with a degree of respect. Don't just stand there and joke around. Get to work. Big disappointment.

HEADS UP!!! ย If you are a party of one and want to sit at the bar and order food and drink... you will be sent away. They would rather have customer coats sit in the seats rather than a paying customer. No apologies no alternatives. It was a Tuesday night!!!You are treated like a second class citizen!! ย Trust better treatment elsewhere.

Impeccable experience! In town for work from Austin, TX and sat for dinner by myself. The service was so friendly and excellent. They allowed me to try the tasting menu solo, and wow. Every course was impressive. Specifically, the saffron in the biryani - it's a flavor profile I love but when I'm home I JUST. CAN'T. GET. ย Other notes: The restaurant's decor is lovely, eclectic, and cozy. The wine list is diverse. The lassi is INCREDIBLE (not on tasting menu). And dessert is a must have; pack your main course and save room. Seriously.

We tried to dine at their other location, but had an infant so were sent here. I'm so glad we were! Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was exceptional.
Be the first to ReplyVery chic spot.
The dim lights, dark furniture and light up tables make for great ambiance. The food was delicious, and I'm from Long Island where we are spoiled with great Indian. We started off with a few small plates that the owner helped us picked, he was great! Our waitress on the other hand, terrible. We sat for 45 minutes without even placing a drink order. She wasn't busy either, we could clearly see her goofing around with her coworker. We had to go as far as to ask the hostess to get our drinks that we saw sitting on the bar for 20 minutes. Other than that, a great spot with delicious and authentic Indian. Def something for everyone here!

This place is a little more pretentious than its menu would suggest. However, the food is absolutely amazing. The environment is nice and quiet. You do pay for these things as price is quite high. Menu options are limited but what they do offer is very very good. I would definitely come again even though it's slightly tucked away on a quiet corner.
