Tapisco Lisboa Reviews
Good modern Portuguese
A slightly modern take on traditional Portuguese food, done well. I had a codfish salad followed by grilled iberico pork, both well presented and very tasty. This place (unlike others in Lisbon) seems to get portion size right - not too huge. Good selection of Portuguese wine by the glass. Prices very reasonable. Atmosphere welcoming and not formal.
Nice place
Tapiasco was an average dining experience overall, but the service was good and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was okay, but nothing particularly memorable. If you’re in Lisbon, there are other restaurants that might offer a more exciting culinary experience.
Excellent food.
Tomato soap was next level and the duck rice hit the spot. Service was amazing and attentive. There was a wait but we had no reservation and they had a cocktail window so we could get a drink and hang while we waited about 30 mins.. perfect time
Everything top quality, a little pricey
Fabulous local food. A bit pricey but worth it as every dish was superb. Especially the octopus, croquettes, bombe de Lisboa and the steak. Good wine as well. Four people with wine for lunch €200

Just landed in Lisbon and headed straight to Tapisco for my first meal, and wow what a welcome. As a Michelin recognized spot, my expectations were up there, and I'm happy to say they fully delivered. First impressions: the ambiance was warm and stylish with an open kitchen concept. The staff was super friendly, spoke English fluently, and made me feel right at home. I wanted to try everything on the menu, but I limited myself to two dishes: 1) Fried Eggs with Potatoes & Iberian Meat 2) Salted Cod with Confit Egg Yolks Both plates were visually stunning, but the Salted Cod was the real standout. They recommended mixing everything together, and the result was this elevated cod hash which is completely unique and packed with flavor. It's not something I've had before, and I'll definitely be thinking about it long after the trip. With a glass of red wine, my total came to $67 USD which, for a Michelin-tier experience, felt totally fair. Would I come again? Absolutely.
Average service
Service was on the slower side during our visit. Some dishes could use improvement for example, the seafood paella didn’t have much actual seafood, mostly bits of meat. Just something to keep in mind when ordering.
Great spontaneous choice for the evening . Lucky find
Staff very courteous knowledgeable and helpful. The tapas was cooked fresh right in front of us at the var( best place to sit as a couple. A good choice of regional vermouths. Cocktails reasonably priced and well made the Príncipe was very refreshing and the speciality La bomba was melt in the mouth full of flavour. All in all a great experience and reasonable price for the quality of food we had
Must visit in Lisbon
The food and service were outstanding! We nearly cancelled our table due to the mixed reviews but so glad we didn’t. It was exceptional, really confused as to how people can review this badly
wow, what a cool place.
...very Portuguese. If you are good with the usual fish then you will love this place. Service was excellent. I really liked the food but my wife wasn't a fan due to the fish but admitted there was nothing wrong. They did a great job of disguising the cod fish. Will dollar go back.
I normally am not so harsh in reviews, but I am in shock
I normally am not so harsh in reviews, but I am in shock this place earned a Michelin rating and does not have a low average on Google and yelp across the board. In all my years of traveling just for the sake of finding a great restaurant experience, this was one of the biggest let downs. Here is my experience from front to back: We were confused where the front door was because there was a table literally placed up against the front door with a server presenting wine to a guest. We walk over to the open window and the bartender, assuming we had no reservation, immediately says "we are busy tonight, no open tables." To which we said we did have a reservation and he told us that door was indeed the front door. Upon seating, service was okay while getting water/wine, didn't take long. However I just have to say it is incredibly tight and stressful inside. Not intimate, tight. Servers do not let you pass by them when going to the bathroom, and they are constantly running around looking incredibly stressed out. Our server took no care in explaining the menu which I assume is because they are overloaded. Our "bread with chefs olive oil" came without olive oil and when I mentioned this still took 10 minutes to receive (to which he apologized and admitted he forgot.) However, when my girlfriend ordered mushroom rice and received seafood rice our server ACTUALLY ARGUED with her even though the two of us and even the table next to us (having a similar experience) all vouched for her. Besides all this stress, the food was just not worth it. Nothing was necessarily flavorless, but absolutely not tasty or eye-catching. We had duck rice, mushroom rice, bread, and prawns. Again, I am absolutely shocked this has a Michelin rating. Absolutely will never recommend or come back. Maybe you have to know someone to get nice service here?
Excellent food and friendly service.
Well worth the wait. If I'm ever back in Lisbon, this will be on top of my list!
I had found this place on a couple of lists when planning
I had found this place on a couple of lists when planning my trip to Lisbon, so I decided to walk in one evening for dinner. I was seated at the bar where you could watch the staff creating each dish. The decor here is very lovely and inviting with its bright red and wooden notesz The waiter suggested that I add the octopus salad to my order and he was absolutely correct. Let me tell you, when I took the first bite, I was transported to a different plane. Words cannot describe how good this salad was. I'm extremely grateful that my server suggested this dish. This salad alone was worth the trek uphill. Then came the salted cod à bras. This dish was also very good, but I felt like it needed something extra. I'm also willing to admit that I'm not the best versed at what it should taste like but I think justtttt a small pinch seasoning would have made this a next level dish. Overall, an amazing spot for dinner if you're ever in the neighborhood!

I usually don't rate places, but I wanted to go out of my way to share how incredible this meal was. If possible, you should recommend to sit at the bar so you can see them make the food. Octopus salad was great, bacalhau a bras incredible (best I've had thus far), and the dark chocolate mousse was great. Would recommend this spot to anyone! 12/10
Amazing modern Portuguese tavern.
We were lucky to grab a spot at the counter for a drink before our table was ready and had the chance to view the kitchen - very cool experience. Food was very good and the servers were very kind and helpful. Duck rice was delicious, tuna tartare was the star of the show, and the pan con tomate was also very good. The huevos rotos were the least favorite item - all components were fresh and great quality but I would have liked more peppers and onions or a bit of spice.
Came here for lunch.
Definitely make sure you make reservations. We saw multiple people get turned away at the door asking to do walk-in seating. Place has an upscale vibe. Multiple servers float around at all times and tend to your every need. Food and wine were all delicious, nice blend of Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. Wish I tried a cod fish dish but we were too full. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
What an amazing dining experience! I made reservations far
What an amazing dining experience! I made reservations far in advance because I knew I wanted to try this restaurant.
Maybe maybe not...
Tried to make a reservation over the phone multiple times but was told there was none. Was passing by here anyway and decided to give it a try - was told theres availability in 1 hour from then. So we came back. Initially the staff was almost rude and dismissive - its a tiny place and was full. Food - was great. The octopus in my opinion is a must try. Staff - Goncalo, Carlos & Jose were fun and kept it a tad entertaining at least. Was a little on the expensive side but not too bad. Not sure if i'd go through the hassle of waiting to get there and go again but would recommend if you're in town.
Definitely recommend the tuna tartare
Amazing food and atmosphere. Really liked the look and feel of the restaurant. Tuna tartare with avocado and Wasabi ‘eggs’ was so fresh and my favourite thing we ate.
Had dinner reservations here one night and enjoyed our food.
The croquettes were delicious and maybe my favorite part. Both the octopus salad and the seafood paella were good. The caramel port flan was the best dessert we ordered (though a bit small). I recommend the crema catalana as well, especially if you're a fan of that dish. The space is very pretty and I think the designers did a great job with the space--lots of warm copper and red tones throughout in a way I haven't seen before. The service was generally good, but something about it came across just a tad stuffy, cold, or just a little wooden. I can't put my finger on it exactly.
Nice food, pleasant atmosphere
We visited Tapisco following several recommendations (from friends, Topjaw YouTube channel, Lisbon food blogs). The restaurant offers Spanish influenced tapas and Portuguese snacks in a relaxed modern/classic environment. We visited at 9pm on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was buzzy with friends meeting for dinner / couples out for a casual meal. The food is very good and served in stages - it is recommend to have 2-3 dishes per person. Portion sizes are medium. The price point is towards the mid/high end, but this is to be expected being linked to a 'known chef'. For four people with a couple of glasses of the bill came to approximately 130EUR - two of our party were not drinking alcohol - I would highly recommend the freshly squeezed apple juice however the soft/non-alcoholic drinks menu could see a bit more creativity. The staff were mostly pleasant and friendly. Worth a visit and would recommend but not a must visit.
Optimal
Very nice place with a nice atmosphere, all the tables are very close and there is the possibility of eating on stools at the counter. The food is good and carefully presented, while you wait the waiters bring bread, oil and drinks. I recommend Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá. The waitress at our table, a young blonde girl, was really kind and professional.
It’s good but not amazing
Having experience from Michelin star restaurants in a few countries this was not to the standard I was expecting. The food was lovely however it was not exceptional. We felt it was overpriced, we are used to paying premium prices for food however these were not premium in our opinion. The price was not extortionate, it just didn’t warrant what we paid. Service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere was ok.
Bad, bad, bad
Welcomed with "you need to leave the table by 9.30". Looking back, a 2 hour stay was 2 hours of my life I would never get back. Thankfully we were there for an hour or so because it was so bad. The food that wasn't sent back was average at best. The cod & egg was inedible. The duck rice for €30 was frankly laughable. A tiny plate of boil in a bag rice with a few flakes of duck. This place is pretentious, overpriced and just woeful. Still hungry, our night was saved by a place down the street called "A Cevicheria" by Chef Kiko. Served some of the best food I've ever eaten.
Acceptable. Good atmosphere but nothing more.
Good atmosphere, good location. Terrible service, super slow. Very small portions. We ordered croquettes as a starter and they only brought us two!
AMAZING FOOD AND VALUE FOR MONEY
📍Tapisco Address: R. Dom Pedro V 81, 1250-096 Lisboa, Portugal Amazing Portuguese-Spanish tapas restaurant led by the Michelin-star chef Henrique Sá Pessoa. I highly recommend the Squid ink paella and salted cod à Brás. It’s a shame they didn’t have the scarlet shrimp on their menu anymore but we had the prawns instead which were also good! Overall a very satisfying dinner on our last night in Lisbon. Very good value for money for its quality as well. PS I’m thankful for our server who kept reminding us not to order too much food (which I always do haha) ❤️
Delicious and Great Service
We had been given this place as a tip for some of the best Cod in Lisbon and it didn’t disappoint. We showed up without a booking and despite them being fully booked the lady advised she can give us a bar table if we could wait 20mins. We were told we could hangout at the window and have a drink whilst we waited. All of the food we ordered especially the Bacalhau a Bras which is a traditional dish in Lisbon was so delicious and everything was virtually cooked fresh from order in front of us which made the entire experience that much more enjoyable. No wonder this place has been in Michelin Guide for the past few years. I’d highly recommended this restaurant my only complaint is we had to fly out later that afternoon else I’d definitely have gone back to try some of their other dishes….oh well Next Time!!
The food was amazing! The service very welcoming and
The food was amazing! The service very welcoming and professional. Beautiful atmosphere... we sat at the counter and loved it. Very chic crowd... fabulous experience!
Michelin quailty food let down by impersonal table service
We saw this restaurant reviewed on the excellent Youtube channel TOPJAW (follow them if you don’t already!). Their review made us want to try it. It is a ‘second’ restaurant of Michelin-star chef Henrique Sá Pessoa - an appellation which usually guarantees a certain level of service and food but at a more affordable price. This was 100% the case at Tapisco. The welcome by Ines at the door was professional and friendly ; the menu a mix of classic Portugese and inventive twists ; the portions were honorable and not at all small. There was plenty choice, plenty on each plate and the dishes we ate and saw others enjoying were perfectly executed and cooked. Plus the setting is very pleasant. All in all we had a very good meal. However I do feel it fair to state that the table service was rather cold and impersonal. You cannot fault the staff’s presentation (uniform, manners, placing of plates etc) yet you don’t feel particularly welcome on a personal level - like you are just another customer, and one that should spend as much as possible too. This is of course the fault of management and not the waiting staff themselves. But they are obviously following a script. From the start, we were told ‘the chef suggests you begin with a selection of cocktails, and that 2-3 starters + 2-3 mains to be shared (between two in our case) is best’. The other rather annoying thing was that when we received the check, there was already a ‘ suggested’ tip of 5% included in the very bold-printed total. You had to look closely to understand that this was a suggestion, and that the actual total of the food and drink was slightly less, printed in a smaller font. We were already adding a tip when we realised this, and so the irony was that we ended up leaving less than had the restaurant not tried this little trick. Maybe I’m missing something, maybe this is a common practice in Portugal? All I can say is that we saw it nowhere else… Finally, Tapisco’s online booking system needs fixing. You can make a reservation no problem, and you need to give a cell number in order to receive an sms to confirm on the day. The website clearly states that you must confirm by replying to this sms, otherwise your booking will be cancelled. This is all in an effort to avoid no-shows and maximise revenue. I get it. I even support it. Too many customers simply don’t call to cancel these days. Except the sms never came. We had our hotel call on our behalf to confirm, and they were told very tersely that there would only be a 15-minute tolerance should we not turn up ! I mean, is it not obvious that we want to come if we’re actually calling you to confirm because your own system doesn’t work? My advice therefore is that Tapisco’s food is well worth the price. However you will have to put up with the streamlined impersonal methods of Michelin efficiency in order to enjoy it, and maybe have to insist to get through the door. Either that, or you say you have a Youtube channel and they’ll no doubt treat you like royalty even if you don’t confirm your booking !
A Little Gem
First things first - this restaurant is very small so make a reservation! We saw a large number of people being turned away the night we were there and others queued up outside, on what was a wet night in Lisbon, to wait for availability. Thankfully we had made a reservation and we were seated promptly by the pleasant hostess. There are seats along the counter facing the kitchen and a row of tables opposite. We were seated at a table which is probably the better option if there are more than two people in your party. Our waitress was excellent and offered good advice on the menu options and drinks. We had great cocktails to start followed by wine from the good wine list provided. We selected several tapas and mains to share which were almost all delicious - the only bum note was the Salt Cod which did not hit the high notes of the other dishes selected. The portion sizes are generous so we didn't have any room for desert. Overall we loved our visit to Tapisco and would definitely recommend it.
Amazing and memorable meal!
Excellent food. Charming staff. Warm and friendly vibe. Recommend paella, prawns, tuna wasabi salad. We came twice for a long weekend!
Dull food not recommended
It’s a nice and cosy restaurant which we entered based on good reviews. We came for a small lunch tapas as we had a dinner reserved elsewhere. I had the jamon Iberico which was from an excellent quality and it ends there The rest of the food was mediocre and tasteless Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato -(clams ) had a watery with no distinctive taste sauce Fish marinated with lime was ok Tuna tartare had a fresh tuna had avocado mixture but had no taste was plane and dull no umami at all So if you want raw fish go 100 meters and eat at a cevicheria restaurant. And clams you’ll find better elsewhere. We did not taste any other dishes so it’s a small sample but enough to say I won’t return
Sharing Joy: A Cozy Culinary Delight!
Absolutely amazing, cozy spot! Food meant for sharing, bursting with flavor. Drinks? Delicious drinks deal the deal!
Amazing!
We didn’t have a reservation but took a chance as we were passing and got lucky. The staff were all attentive, really welcoming and took time to explain the menu and pointed out what were great options/combinations for us as pescatarians. Every mouthful was fabulous- a fantastic experience.
Lovely dinner
We had a delicious meal here on a rainy Saturday evening. We had the tomato bread with Iberico (still dreaming about this), the croquettes, la bomba, potatas bravas and the Iberian Pork Presa. All delicious and cooked to perfection, highlighting Portuguese food. Also enjoyed a nice bottle of Rose from the Douro region too. Staff were friendly and attentive.
We were looking forward to dining here the most in our trip
We were looking forward to dining here the most in our trip but we were disappointed by our experience. The service was very slow and there were awkward and very long gaps in between dishes. The food was good, don't get me wrong, but because of the long wait we were left with a sour taste in our mouths. It's a good place to come to if you want to talk a lot and have a very long meal but we had things to do and kind of got bored waiting. The green bean tempura was good but got tiring very quickly because it is fried. I would order this if we had three or more people because for two people, it's too much. It wasn't good when it was cold. Which it got because we had to wait a long time for our food. The bacalau a bras was very fresh and my husband liked it the most whereas I liked the octopus rice better.
Lisbon offers many wonderful food choices.
It seems as you can't go wrong with some of the top Michelin star restaurants around. (Which there are many) I believe Tapisco rises above, offering amazing food, incredible service all at an extremely approachable price. Tapisco offers a lunch service, so if you can get a dinner reservation (which can be very challenging) the lunch options is a great option to not miss this amazing restaurant. Tapisco is in a small space and does not have a "fancy" Michelin star attitude. Instead, it lets the amazing food, attention to detail and attentive service do its talking. 5 out of 5 and be sure to order the Bomba de Lisboa. You'll never think of a ham croquette the same way ever again.
On our first night in Lisbon after a weary journey, we
On our first night in Lisbon after a weary journey, we stumbled upon Tapisco. Opting for a light meal, we ordered Pan con tomate y jamón ibérico de bellota, Tartaro de Atum com abacate e "ovas" de wasabi, and La Bomba de Lisboa. Each dish was a delightful treat, deliciously satiating without overwhelming. It came as no surprise to learn that this gem is recognized by the Michelin guide. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making our evening all the more special. Highly recommended for those looking for authentic tapas in Lisbon.
Tapisco was an amazing restaurant to visit.
It is a small location, so you may need to call in advance. The interior environment was very cozy and intimate. I sat at the bar, next to the expo, and got to see the magic happen. The line chefs worked like a well-oiled machine. The floor staff was very kind, attentive and spoke English. I had ordered the octopus salad, salted cod, and chocolate mousse. Everything was fantastic. I highly recommend.
Tapisco is the one Michelin star restaurant from Chef
Tapisco is the one Michelin star restaurant from Chef Henrique Sa Estrela whose restaurant Alma has two Michelin starts. Chef Sa Estrela's mastery of his craft is obvious and impressive. The food is amazing and service is casual yet excellent. Tapisco is a small restaurant, but it is always full and the vibe is lively.
Make a reservation and ask to sit at the counter.
This spot is fantastic. We ate through the menu over three dinners. The space is beautiful and small The chefs and waitstaff are very welcoming. All the cold and hot tapas were perfection The paella, octopus salad and all rice dishes were delicious.
P Top notch Spanish tapas in Lisbon.
We walked in for an early lunch, but reservations are recommended.
Incredible food that is uniquely Portuguese.
The portions are exactly what you want. Order lots of things and try the cream catalana.
Probably my fav restaurant in lisboa
Very good atmosphere Open kitchen and i just loved sitting at the bar watch the cooks cook and prepare all the meals, its so cool and the food was just great!
Small place, good food.
The space here is quite tight—you are right up against your neighbor—and that does impact the feeling. We walked in during a downpour for a late lunch and we were accommodated quickly and the server was lovely and helpful. Good local wines, responsibly priced. We had the garlic shrimp, one of the rice dishes and the green beans—which were absolutely wonderful. Actually, everything was good, but my husband said he would eat vegetables if they were as good as these beans. Nice desserts, too. Yes, a bit more than the average lunch cost, but really delicious.
Excellent dinner
Quite small place but great choice of dishes to share. That way you get to try a lot from menu. We started of with the octupas salad and tuna mix with avocado, both are great for the main we shared the tradional saled cod a lbras which is with potatoes, interesting and closed with tasty dessert. Along some great white wine from portugal. Normal prices, good service and great food.
The Tomato Bread was an amazing start
We had lunch at Tapisco Lisboa, which started with the Tomato Bread. What a flavor delight. That was the start to a great lunch. Our waiter was fabulous. The price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant.
