Tartine Manufactory San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year

Overall great experience! This place always has a line but don't worry it moves fast! A lot of seating and gorgeous interior. Smoked Salmon tartine was a overall great choice when coming here it is very fresh and light the flavors mix well and it has a slight sweetness to it Pressed ham and Gruyère was an accident I meant to get the croissant but I still enjoyed the sandwich it has a definite kick to it with the fresh jalapeño The sweet scone and morning bun were both fantastic I do agree with some of the other reviewers that it is overrated BUT it doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a go it. The bread at tartine is absolutely phenomenal I recommend taking some home :)!

Not my first time, enjoying pastries, and baked goods from this San Francisco establishment. We kicked it for a late dinner adventure on a weekday. Nice pizza theme. Our waiter Javier was the highlight of the evening. Made my birthday memorable.

I came here after four weeks of traveling through Asia, a celebration for returning home. The bill came out to $83 with tip and tax for an enormous sandwich and salad, a glass of Syrah, and a glass of Prosecco. It felt like a pricey lunch for sure after being accustomed to paying $40 for izakaya dinner for two in Japan including drinks. The food was beautiful but the flavor balance was not quite right. The salad was overdressed and sour and maybe needed more cheese to cut the tartness. The sandwich too tasted too tart. Perhaps it would've been better on rye. The sourdough bread was delicious by itself but cut too thick and made the sandwich tart. It also had bean sprouts in it which made the sandwich seem soggier than it should've been. The space was modern and appetite arousing but also had a missing tile near the register. Honestly for a $40 per person lunch, I was expecting more. I suspect we ordered poorly. This place might be best for one of their pre-made pastries and a cappuccino. After we took our first bites we remembered that we had come here years ago when the restaurant first opened and had the same reaction. Keep in mind this restaurant is separate from the bakery called Tartine which is still our fave. Service was typical San Francisco, attentive but aloof.
Fun cocktails and pizzas.
Our standout was the burrata toast. The ambiance is fun for a girls dinner or a cute date night
Worth it! 🥐
Wildly popular local gem that mostly lives up to the hype! Best items on the menu to me are the Smoked Salmon Tartine and the Pressed Ham & Gruyère Sandwich. The standard baked goodies like the Almond Croissant are also delicious. Great neighborhood in the Mission to walk around and enjoy before or after brunch too!

Wildly popular and mostly lives up to the hype! Although, I think the Breakfast Sandwich and the Morning Bun are overrated. IMO, the Smoked Salmon Tartine and the Pressed Ham & Gruyère Sandwich are the can't miss highlights of the menu. The standard baked goodies like the Almond Croissant are also v solid. The big open seating space give me "easy like Sunday morning" vibes that you can keep going by swinging by Heath in the same building or just taking a stroll through the neighborhood.

Be prepared to wait in a long line which is typical of any good bakery in the city but definitely worth a try! There is a ton of seats so it's really easy to hang and enjoy your breakfast/coffee. The morning bun was huge and super flavorful & the coffee was decent!
Great brunch
Went for brunch and not disappointed. Bustling place. Loved seeing the bakery. Efficient service, fantastic espresso and tasty food.
This dining experience (or non-dining experience, as it
This dining experience (or non-dining experience, as it were) was a train wreck. We were seated at the bar at about 6:40. At 7:30 we still had no food. At one point I asked the rather indifferent bartender whether our pizza was coming. He kind of scowled at me and muttered something like, "Of course." At 7:15 or 7:20 it became clear that there was a huge problem. The second bartender (long MIA) returned and said, "They moved your order to the front of the line." That was alarming because if anything, the worst-case scenario would have had that pizza landing in front of us at that moment. A glorious bounty of food, by the way, was going to every other party on either side including people who had been seated at least 20 minutes after us -- big to-go orderers passing by too. There was plenty coming out of that kitchen but nothing for us. At one point they had the temerity to place two (!) breadsticks in front of us. We got up and left at 7:30. On the way out, the manager said something about the fact that they were in the midst of "remaking" our order. What chaos. They never had the grace to explain what went wrong. I grabbed a small bag of granola out of a basket on the way out (the manager had the good sense not ask me to pay) but other than that, went to the theatre around the corner hungry.
Absolutely loved this bakery! Great ambiance and great food
Absolutely loved this bakery! Great ambiance and great food The line is a little long but moved fairly quickly (waited 15 mins at peak lunch time on Sunday). We ordered a mix of pastries and lunch items. The chives scone and ham & cheese were a standout for me. The chives scone is perfectly crispy on the inside and fluffy on the inside topped with extra flaky salt (I also recommend to add some of their house siracha on top for a nice kick). The ham and cheese croissant was the perfect amount of flakiness with a nice doughy inside with lots of ham and cheese. Paired the yummy pastries with their morning bun latte which had great notes of cinnamon and vanilla (note that it comes hot so make sure to specify if you want it iced). For the main lunch meal we ordered the mushroom soup, warm bread & butter, and potatoes. The mushroom soup was phenomenal with chunks of mushroom and so many great flavors. The potatoes were also perfectly crispy doused in a delicious green sauce. Though seems simple, the butter and bread was AMAZING. The butter was so flavorful and smeared so well on the fluffy bread (I highly recommend to get it for the table and dip it in the mushroom soup). Overall, the service and staff were super friendly and proactive with helping us out and checking in on us. The bakery is also very cozy with lots of seating and nice natural sunlight.

Recently dined here after they restarted dinner service- so delicious! The pizzas were of course great, but we especially loved the radicchio salad and burrata toast for appetizers. The ambiance is also lovely.

Pretty good meal at tartine pizza! Some of the food was hard to eat - the burrata on toast was tasty, but I made a mess trying to eat it (way too much burrata and the bread was soft). The broccolini and prosciutto pizza was really hard to eat - those are two foods that are hard to bite into. The crust was flavorful, but quite floppy. The sunny side up egg had a great yolk, but really runny whites that I scraped off. Meatballs were pretty good, too.

As a home baker, the star of Tartine Manufactory is the bread, and it absolutely does not disappoint on that front. You can select from a variety of freshly baked, rustic sourdough loaves, which are brimming with all kinds of toppings and additives. There is a lovely pastry case, where a varied assortment of flaky and decadent treats are on offer. I came for the bread, but I stayed for the lunch. I was able to order a few slices of bread and butter (such a great idea) and had that accompanied by a soup and a salad that was so much better than it had any right to be. Though I came at peak lunch hour, the line moved briskly and service was efficient. The atmosphere is fun- it's got that kind of industrial open concept thing going for it. If I were a local, this place would be my haunt on Sundays, or maybe even for a cheeky coffee break here and there.
Very noisy.
Lots of kids out of control. Ham and Gruyère sandwich contained sliced jalapeños and not green tomatoes. Potatoes were well cooked and crispy but, the aji sauce was dull and bland versus fruity. It was not pleasing. The food was served before the coffee. Coffee should have been served first. Servers were not proactive but, had to ask for items. To pricey. Enjoyed Tartine on Guerrero more.
Line moves pretty fast and then you can grab a table.
The salmon tartine was absolutely delicious! Very cute ambiance and recommend checking out Heath Ceramics next door before/after.

I was in the Bay Area and oh so close to Tartine! I had to go as I am into baking and have the famous book by the owner. I was not disappointed, everything I ordered was excellent. I would return in a heartbeat. I was like a kid in a candy shop. It was so exciting to see all the bread being made and shaped that I had read about. Everything I tasted was five stars. Sorry no pics of my Vanilla latte, croissant, apple pastry, chocolate chunk cookie, and bread. I did get video though. Enjoy !

Absolutely incredible food + atmosphere! This was probably the best breakfast sandwich I've had, and the chai latte was great as well.

I've seen a number of large trucks park and get deliveries in and out of here. I was so happy I was able to find parking. I just need to get here at 8:45 on a Saturday morning! Lol everything was very well labeled and I really like how everything is open and while you're waiting in the dining area, you can actually watch the Bakers fold and prepare the bread in little baskets!! I'm guessing the yeast has to Have time to rise so that's where the rolls get to do their magic! The server was incredibly friendly and polite, and everything was very open and well lit! I also liked the fact they had a full bar in the dining area as well as nice open, lighting from windows all the way around, as well as some track lighting. There was also a coffee bar on the other side of the café area, and both areas seem to be busy. Very nice, busy atmosphere, with a delicious smell of fresh baked bread and morning pastries!! I will definitely be back!!
I wish I could give this 10 stars for the bread.
Really has no business being this amazing. I thought, "eh, we'll try the bread and jam, seems like it'd be a nice appetizer." SOOO amazing, every bit of it. Ambience, servers, food and coffee were just as great!

I have loved Tartine for 10+ years but had not been to this location. This space is great. There are tons of tables and the usual selection of amazing pastries and baked goods. My personal favorite are the ham and cheese croissant, the bread pudding, and the morning bun.

In my opinion- this is the second best bakery in San Francisco. The Brunch here is simple and fantastic. My favorite treat here is their morning bun and is NOT TO BE MISSED- it's flaky sugary sweet on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside with just a hint of citrus. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Great food, amazing ambiance
Great ambiance and amazing food! My favorites were the smoked salmon tartine and chocolate chip cookie. They sell a collection of their cookbooks and merch at the front of the store too.
Cooler space than the other location!
Great bakery items but the full brunch menu is fantastic. Great coffee and lattes too! The ambiance and space is much bigger and cooler than their bakery location IMO.
All Time Best Breakfast
Our son had heard about Tartine and we went our of our way to go for breakfast on our first day in San Francisco. We were glad we did. We went early and got right in without a wait. All of the breakfast items exceeded our expectations. The Avacado Tartine was the best we have ever had anywhere. The bread was so good we bought a loaf of Sour Dough that we enjoyed for the next few days.
No longer a goto favorite.
Used to be great. :-( We ordered my favorite melted cheese sandwich which used to be delicious! Now, you’d be hard pressed to find any cheese on this sandwich. Really a bummer!
Delightful cookie
Sat for a coffee and cookie. Cookie was big and amazing taste. Coffee was also nice taste and quality. Calm relaxing atmosphere. Menu had a good variety.
Family Brunch with teens
This place actually lives up to the hype. We had a great time and just kept ordering and ordering. Coffee drinks were amazing, as were the bread and pastries. It’s a beautiful light airy space, too. The Baklava Babka is to die for

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
