Food Was Awesome but service was spectacular right in point.
Greek Salad is fresh and tasty and the seafood was just as I expected. We were greeted and treated like royalty. Will go back just for the service, they do go far and beyond

This is, without question, the worst meal I've had in 8 years in NYC. The lamb? Gray and rubbery. The spinach? Microwaved and shockingly flavorless. The mushroom risotto might as well have been Rice-a-Roni. I am baffled that this place has as high of a rating and as many reviews as it does. The only reasonable explanation is that they're fake.

From the time that we walked in the restaurant, the staff and ambience treated us incredibly well. The food was excellent and each stage was delivered to us at the correct time, and we were given time to sit in the restaurant as well. They were super kind and the food was tremendous and the attitude was excellent. We highly recommend it for any sort of event and they seem to have a fabulous event space both down below and above the main floor We are big fans

We had a company party at Thalassa last year that was a big success. The restaurant was able to host a large number of people with only one day's notice! (Nearly impossible for a Saturday night!). We definitely got lucky. Peter was very kind and accommodating to our many requests. The staff were very respectful and professional. All of our guests were happy with the set sharing menu - and we were even offered alternate options for our vegan guest. The food was colorful and fresh, and the wine selection was impressive. Thank you for a memorable night.

The ambient is amazing, beautiful place, super nice atmosphere. The food is fresh and great Everthing we had, from the appetizers to the desserts, amazing! I highly recommend this place.

Made a last minute reservation for a business dinner and they didn't let me down ! The food here is sooo good, and you get big plates, so you can share with the table if you'd like. The lamb was amazing and tender My favorite was the dipping plate with pita chips. As for ambiance, the restaurant was mostly empty when we showed up so service was quick but they had lots of Christmas lights and good music playing 6.5/10

We had such a great time at Thalassa Restaurant! The staff was friendly, the environment was nice, and the food was pretty good.

Super quality seafood restaurant! The appetizers were also outstanding with many vegetarian options. If we didn't want to try the seafood main courses, would've been also equally satisfied with ordering a variety of the appetizers. Both the eggplant chips and the moussaka were really good, not too greasy, well flavored, and portions were sizable. So was the Greek salad. By the end of three appetizers we were pretty full! For the main the king shrimp wasn't as good and in fact a bit "fishy". The lavraki whole fish was solid and very fresh and flavourful. Service was efficient and attentive. The dining setting was not as intimate like many NYC restaurants as it's a big venue. Overall recommend for seafood
Be the first to ReplyLoved this Greek restaurant.
The appetizers were amazing(octopus), cooked perfectly. My main course was a charcoal grilled whole fish ( the kitchen will debone it for you in the kitchen if you prefer), the fish was tasty, flaky and so moist...it's been 2 days and I'm still thinking about it....
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance! Dim, chic interior with a lot of space.
The service was also respectful and attentive. The food was okay. We got the assorted dips and the moussaka to start. Both dishes could have used a little more flavor. For the mains, we got the scallops and the lobster pasta, which were very tasty. Finished with fantastic baklava and lava cake for dessert. Great for a date night!
Be the first to ReplyBoth the food and service are excellent.
I've been here on a recurring basis and it's a great spot for business and(or) personal group events. Antonia and Peter (staff) made my night very memorable. Order the octopus, you won't regret it! What a welcoming and great dining experience. 5 STARS!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent, fresh food.
Excellent service. Went out as a group a couple of times. Nice atmosphere, they never rush you. Will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyThalassa has a beautiful atmosphere and such delicious food.
I am totally impressed by the scallops and wild rice mushroom risotto as well as the baklava. They offer an extensive wine list consisting of more chardonnays than I've ever seen in my life and a variety of Greek wines. Although, I felt the service was extremely slow. We had an 8 pm reservation and were not sat until 8:45 pm. I don't understand what the point of a res is in the first place if we will be told to sit at the bar for almost an hour before our table is ready. Once sat, we had to flag our server down to order our meal and to get the check. Although the food is great, its not worth the wait or hassle.

After being on my boyfriends radar for some time, he booked our reservation to celebrate my first complete month living in the city. The service was outstanding from the moment we were greeted until we exited the building. The staff was beyond friendly and attentive as well as impressively knowledgeable about any items we asked about. We went with every recommendation and not a single dish was a let down.I think majority of our conversation that night consisted of us raving about what a gem this restaurant is.Could not recommend enough and can't wait to come back.

Efficient and knowledgeable wait staff. Food was great and well prepared. Several families enjoying the evening. We had the good fortune to sit next to the owners.

We came here for a graduation dinner with a group of 6 people and were seated right away with our reservation. The restaurant is really huge and it definitely can fit large parties including weddings, etc. They have several areas that can seat a lot of guests on 2 floors. The service was nice and the food came out pretty quickly. Decent flavor, but not enough to wow us. The portions were really small for the amount of money that you are paying. Most dishes were $35-45. 3.5 out of 5 stars but I bumped them up because they were super nice and gave us a complimentary dessert platter as congratulations.

The Thalassa team has my deepest gratitude for hosting my surprise engagement dinner for my fiancé and friends. Working with them was extremely easy and accommodating and they pulled off an amazing night. My friends are still buzzing from the food and mentioned multiple times that they'll be visiting soon! I don't live in NY but when I visit in the future, I'll make it a point to come by again. Truly a wonderful experience and I think anyone will be very happy they dined here.
Be the first to ReplyNew Year.
.. New favorite restaurant! My wife and I dined at Thalassa in Tribeca for New Year's and absolutely fell in love. While the food was incredible, I'd like to start with the service which was completely above and beyond it wasn't just the waiter, it's the entire staff, each of whom appear to work as a team and will get you whatever you, the minute you need it. Not once did someone say, "I'll send your waiter by". We've dined at several Michelin rated restaurants that offer less attentive service than Thalassa. As for the food, we both ordered Lavraki (Sea Bass) which was prepared to perfection. As good as what you'll be served in Greece. We also had the lemon potatoes (very good) and Fava (incredible). As for atmosphere, Thalassa is breathtaking inside with a modern look against an industrial background with exposed brick. Tribeca at its best. I enthusiastically recommend Thalassa to anyone who loves fresh seafood and/or Greek cuisine Back story.... This fall my wife and I traveled to Greece for the first time and fell in love with their cuisine. While in Athens, we befriended the owner of a local jewelry store who told us his friend owned a Greek restaurant in Tribeca and insisted we give it a try when we return home. So happy we did!
Be the first to ReplyFiancé and I wanted to go out for a nice dinner.
This place fit the bill. I'm a sucker for excellent service and the whole team delivered. Shout out to Fausto (sp?) for giving us a wonderful engagement celebration date night. We had wine, the grilled octopus, tomato salad, branzino, lamb chops, panna cotta and cream filled philo dessert. We totally could've shared an appetizer and dessert as the portion sizes were great. Super nice ambiance that still welcomed you whether you're in jeans and a shirt or a suit. They're running Yelp specials...so go!
Be the first to ReplyCame here with friends for bday dinner.
The ambience was superb. Love its decor, its basement, its wine cellar, its collection of wines, and everything overall was amazingly looking In terms of food we ordered a lot of food for a party of 6: Tartare of Tuna, Fish tacos, Crab Cake, Octapodi, Midia Mussels, Spanakopita, Lobster Pasta, lavraki, seafood thalassina, rib eye steak, spinach, lemon potatoes... The worthy dishes were tartare of tuna, fish tacos, crab cake, octapodi, mussels, spanakopita, spinach, and lemon potatoes. They were delicious. It seems this place excels in small dishes and appetizersBut the unworthy dishes were: lobster pasta, lavraki, seafood thalassina, and rib eye steak. The steak was hard to chew and not tasty. The lobster pasta was mediocre. The lavraki and seafood thalassina was alright. All the heavy hitter dishes were disappointing... Also, the portion was quite small. I had to stuff myself with the complimentary bread and butter. We ordered two bottle of wines and they were great. Loved its taste and how well it went with the bread. Lol We received complimentary dessert and sweet wine because of Yelp Check-in and friend's birthday. They were not so good tasting. Not worth ordering imo. Should have gone to a dessert dedicated place instead -_-Anyhow, I'd give this place an-OK rating because you will get disappointed with all the heavy hitting main courses, and the appetizers were the only worthy dish for ordering. Might as well call this place Thalassa "Tapas" Restaurant. On top of it, the place may be overpriced as if you were paying enjoyment for its ambiance instead for the food... There are definitely other places in Manhattan worth going instead (and nearby too!) ; )

If the food is anything like the hostess that picked up the phone to assist with my reservation this evening then I'm assuming it taste as good as three day old prepackaged Greek food from Whole Foods.
Be the first to ReplySuch a nice experience at this restaurant! Very nice
Such a nice experience at this restaurant! Very nice environment - felt spacious and open. Our waiter was excellent which made all the difference. Had some grilled calamari for an appetizer which was so tender and flavorful I would consider getting a double portion as my entree next time! The fresh grilled fish was delicious. Wanted to try the grilled king shrimp but the table near us got the last order. Our waiter offered to substitute a large shrimp instead, and it was a great recommendation- the chef put a few extra on the plate and we ended up bringing several home to enjoy the next day. They were cooked perfectly. We had some spicy whipped feta dip with pitas for a starter, which was delicious - so that's what real pita bread tastes like! Who knew!. We were much too full for dessert, but our waiter brought us a complimentary tasting of the baklava (which I never would have ordered because baklava is too sticky sweet for me). Three little crisp slices which were so delicious and crisp without being sticky or gooey - and a nice hint of cinnamon to boot! Really good - will be sure to order this next time! What a little gem to find in our neighborhood - can't wait to try it again!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Greek restaurants in New York City.
The environment - and price range is upscale but the food is well worth the price! The bread basket with dips is extremely tasty. The restaurant has a big selection of international wines that you can accompany your meal with (including Assyrtiko and Vivliochora).Overall, we have always been extremely satisfied every single time we dine there. Pro tip: Thalassa usually offers Restaurant week menu, so make sure to check out their deals!

I've lived in the neighborhood for a little over a year and walked by here today and thought it looked cool enough to go to dinner at tonight. I gotta say, I was shocked that this place wasn't packed. The food is great as well as the ambiance and service. The place is on the pricier side, but I gotta say that it's justified unlike plenty of other establishments here in the city. Will definitely be coming back.

Wow, every dish was good!! It's expensive but it was a beautiful dining experience and the service was impeccable. We started off with the bread and it wa surprisingly soft! Then we had the lavraki tartare and octopus as appetizers and they were both good, but portions were pretty tiny for the price. I've never had lavraki tartare before so the white fish's color threw me off a bit. The octopus is also pretty soft and flavorful. Next up is our entrees. I got the seafood thalassina and wow, my jaw dropped. Yes, it seemed buttery so you can't really go wrong with that but this dish was not tiny and full of seafood flavor. Scallops, shrimps, mussels were all good! The two people I went with have been there many times and they both enjoyed their dishes as well. I'll definitely come back! After all, they're also a huge supporter of the nonprofit that I am a part of. Thalassa is awesome!
