Probably the worst meal I've ever been served in a restaurant. They told me they had award winning Texas style ribs. I couldn't even eat this meat. It was filled with water and had been sitting in some sort of steamer. No clue how the meat was even cooked.

Great BBQ diner with so many great souvenirs on the wall, best part was the wonderful service and low prices, love it
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing meal.
Didn't take too long to get seated. We ordered quickly and waited over 45 minutes for food to arrive. Then they brought out one plate at a time. One member of our party waited 10 more minutes after the first plate arrived. Food was average at best. I cannot recall ever going to a BBQ restaurant and there not being a single bottle of sauce in sight. Baked beans were cold. Food was overpriced for the portions. This is the second time we tried and it'll be the last.
Be the first to ReplyIf West Virginia is almost heaven, than Boondocks is St.
Peter's gate. How does one describe the food that is made by angels? No really? Tell me how to capture in words some of the best home cooking this far north of mason dixon? The staff is amazing. Owner is humbled even with her angelic creation. The gravy flows like wine. The mashed potatoes are the fluffiest clouds. But the star of the show is the wicked chicken. It is almost sinful how good this meal is, but I'll leave that up to my creator. All I can say is get yourself to the boondocks and have some of the best food of your life. Sorry, inhaled my food before pictures.

This is only one of a few sit down restaurants in McConnelsville. It's ok, but not great, I would call it average food. I feel there are so many options and it's overwhelming.
Be the first to ReplyWe were very happy with this BBQ restaurant.
We ordered three slab of ribs, a brisket platter, two Frisco burgers, And one of each kind of cheesecake. Everyone was more than satisfied with their dinner and we would be willing to drive another 50 minutes to get food from there again!! The staff is very helpful the dining room is open, the dining room was clean the kitchen look clean and we will be back up there to eat again. Great Job Boondocks Staff!!!!!!

Stopped in for lunch and the place was hopping fast to seat us. Drink order taken quickly and then food order. Lots on the menu to pick from! 1st photo is of a bbq burger with bacon between two fried slices of Mac & cheese, it was excellent! The other is a hamburger and sweet potato fries. Friendly atmosphere - great place!!

I only liked the loaded sweet potato fries! Been a few times hoping that it was a fluke. Not bad food but expensive for the portions and service was ok

We are in town and heard about Boondocks so thought we would stop in! The inside is a smaller diner feel with memorabilia all over the walls. My family of five were seated very quickly and our waitress came out right away to get our drink orders and we ordered some appetizers: fried mushrooms, mozzarella skewers and crab cakes. The fried mozzarella was pretty good and the fried mushrooms were nice and crispy, although the mushrooms were very small. The batter was awesome though! The crab cakes were just ok. For dinner we ordered liver and onions, meatloaf, BLT, the grilled cheese burger and Bobby's Wasabi Special. All our dinners were awesome! The BLT had a load of bacon on it and the liver and onions were nice and tender. The wasabi burger was very flavorful but not super hot. My son had the grilled cheese burger and said it was good. The one thing I didn't like was, the sides that came with each meal (for example it came with green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy), if you wanted to change those sides to one of their other regular sides, like French fries or coleslaw, it was a $1 charge for each change. That's something I've never been charged for; not for regular sides. It does state it on their menu and the waitress told us as well. Just never been charged for a substitute like that. Now, let me tell you about our waitress. She was great! On her own, she's worth coming back here! She was very pleasant and nice and interactive with us and our kids. She kept our drinks filled and was just a pleasant person to be around. She wasn't overbearing but was around enough for us! I wish I could remember her name!!! Over all a very nice experience at Boondocks!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is the bomb! Fantastic menu.
Had the pulled pork platter. Will be back to try steak and ribs, the next time we are in town.
