This was one of the best high teas I have ever had in
This was one of the best high teas I have ever had in London. Incredibly delicious, generous servings, and impeccable service. The atmosphere was formal, yet relaxed. A perfect balance!
Be the first to ReplyA very fun, albeit needlessly expensive experience.
If I could go back in time, I'd block off at least a couple of hours for this. At ยฃ80 per person for tea service, it makes sense to stay, relax, and enjoy for as long as possible. We definitely made a mistake by trying to squeeze this into a busy day. Better service also would have made it a more pleasant experience. The dining room is beautiful, and everything is really lovely looking. Wasn't a big fan of the food, I'd go for sweet over savory next time. Allergens can be accommodated! Strangely they told us via email that a gluten & dairy free menu would not be possible, but it was no problem whatsoever once we got there.
Be the first to ReplyWow, awesome atmosphere.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time for tea. Fabulous server. Will definitely go back whenever we are in town.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the quintessential high tea -yes it's expensive but
This is the quintessential high tea -yes it's expensive but everything is "refreshable" aka ask for as much as you want and they'll give you a cute little take away box too. It is a nice opportunity to dress up in a cute setting. I really enjoyed the royal blend tea, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't think to try another tea even if I hadn't finished the first pot. I also wish I had thought to take the amazing strawberry jam and lemon curd to go! The scones were just fine in my opinion, but the vegetarian sandwiches were interesting and many of the desserts were quite good. It's worth going for the 4 floors of amazing store (older than America)!
Be the first to ReplyAn iconic spot to have afternoon tea in London.
The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon is on the top floor of Fortnum & Mason. I was so tempted to buy everything in the store afterwards. I was lucky enough to grab a last minute reservation for noon on a Wednesday just a few days prior. We ordered the classic afternoon tea option as well as the savory version along with champagne. Each came with patisseries, scones and finger sandwiches. I personally preferred the savory option as I'm not a huge fan of sweets but both were delicious and incredibly unique. For tea, I got the earl grey classic and my bf got the breakfast blend. But they have a huge selection and if we weren't strapped for time, I would have liked to their fruity/floral options. The only reason I'm docking one star is because it was super expensive. The bill came out to ~$300 which is worthwhile for a special occasion when you're looking to indulge but I probably wouldn't come back again just on a regular day.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service.
The chicken curry was the best of the finger sandwiches. The only disappointment was the white needle tea, which was extraordinarily mild. Afternoon tea with a plate of sweets on top is enough for two hungry ladies. I recommend sharing an order and adding an extra pot of tea. Christmas dรฉcor was festive, if slightly understated.
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyed afternoon tea at Fortnum and Mason.
Multiple levels decorated festively for the holidays. Server was able to modify my afternoon tea to suit my dietary restrictions making it a truly memorable experience.
Be the first to ReplyOther than the fact that this place was seriously shoulder
Other than the fact that this place was seriously shoulder to shoulder full of people for the first three floors, it was a very lovely shopping experience. I also got to live out one of my bucket list items of having a proper afternoon tea and it did not disappoint. I loved the traditional setup and would recommend it to anyone who wants to try it. It's worth every penny. You can take the jars home at the end, offered me more sandwiches after I ate them and the service was just top notch. It was definitely one of the highlights of my London trip. Just prepare to be in a very thick crowd of people if you're shopping on the weekend near Christmas. Also, I picked up a bottle of their gin which you can't get anywhere else and is distilled in the building. Pretty cool stuff.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a fun and tasty tea time experience.
Service was amazing. We were walked through the entire experience and menu. Walked through all the teas and cakes. Such a fun time here. This place was busy but it felt easy to just relax and take your time sipping tea and snaking. Was the perfect way to relax and prep for a lunch or a dinner. Everything we had was so delish. I couldn't even name them all because the moment they started coming out, it was sample city. Then they vanished. Washed down with fantastic tea. If I'm ever in the area I will be back for tea time.
Be the first to ReplyA dream come true to have tea here.
The food was good and plentiful - they offered additional sandwiches and cakes which surprised and delighted me. The tea was more than warm but not hot. Everything was beautifully presented and the service excellent. We were given take home boxes which I greatly appreciated. I was very surprised that 2 pieces of my dishware were not clean and the tea pot needed a good wash. The ladies' room needed a spruce up, I mentioned this to the hostess and she immediately looked after the issue. I suppose most guests are tourists so there was not a great deal of dress up - some in jeans and sweats. Yes, a dream come true, now I can cross that off my bucket list.
Be the first to ReplyLike Disney World for shoppers.
The store offers variety of affordable and high end gifts. The floor plan and decor are inviting. Cleanliness and maintenance are top notch. Check out counters are well staffed and run smoothly. There is even an ice cream counter for those wanting to top off their experience to this London landmark.
Be the first to ReplyOur experience was wonderful.
The service was great, and so was the menu. There is so much to see in addition to the actual restaurant on the other floors. We booked the Piccadilly location (close to shopping areas).
Be the first to ReplyWhat a lovely experience! I was able to make reservations
What a lovely experience! I was able to make reservations the day before. When you walk up to the entrance room you see a pianist playing holiday tunes on the grand piano. Once your escorted to your table you have a vast choice of teas. I selected the Royal blend and the afternoon tea. The sandwiches were quite filling and delicious. The desserts were decadent and rich that I could only finish two and took the rest home. I enjoyed the strawberry and champagne preserve so much that I bought a jar to take home. I was able to take home seconds for dinner. The staff was efficient and friendly. They were always checking up on me.
Be the first to ReplyF&M has already been reviewed by so many on Yelp that I am
F&M has already been reviewed by so many on Yelp that I am not going to go into all details of our visit- While I'm glad we tried afternoon tea while playing tourist in London, you can probably get the same experience elsewhere for less money, just without the name brand recognition with the late queen. While waiting for our reservation, I saw at least 3 different parties enquiring about a table and were told that they were completely booked for the day and many days following. So if you are interested, be sure to make your reservation sooner rather than later. If you do go to afternoon tea and like a certain food item in your tea service, don't be afraid to ask for more of it. They do not charge for it. They did this for us, and also kindly swapped out the ham sandwich for me for another curry sandwich instead. Our experience took about an hour and a half total, so on a Sunday, it ended after the main shop closed. The main doors to the restaurant had been closed and we were directed to use the elevator instead. Once we arrived at the ground floor, an employee was immediately upon us showing us to the door, as if I was going to try to run around her and try to shop. It seemed out of keeping with the rest of the staff and experience at F&M.
Be the first to ReplyYou can't go to the UK and not have an afternoon tea
You can't go to the UK and not have an afternoon tea experience! The Diamond Jubilee Tea salon was lovely. The waitstaff is attentive and food and teas arrived in a timely manner. I chose the high tea option so that I could try the scotch egg. I'm not sure if it's the best scotch egg I've tried but it's decent. The tea is delicious- i had the Countess Grey, which is basically black tea with orange notes.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my first high-tea affair and to be honest I have
This was my first high-tea affair and to be honest I have to say, I was dragged into it, wanting more to please than to sip some really expensive tea, and when I say expensive I mean Balthazar martini's mark-up expensive and then some. But once I was on board I was fully committed until, enter Fortnum and Mason play pretend high tea.I understand we live in a world were every experience is a simulation but this campy version of Westworld is really some low budget stuff, the storyline is all broken, with disheveled, probably underpaid waiters and a mall like saloon. To be fair the hosts were not the only ones to blame, some of the guests came dressed for the wrong plot, more suited for a spaghetti western than an episode of The Crown, dissolving any pretense of make believe. Some technical details for those who venture thus far in this review. While many guests wrote about the possibility of recouping some losses by taking some food home, the fellows at Fortnum and Mason change their policy and you'll only be offered to take some of the desserts leftovers. Apparently their fingers will send you straight to the outhouse if consumed a day later. * start.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately, I didn't have time to experience the Diamond
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to experience the Diamond Jubilee Tea during my 15 minute shopping spree. I was on another floor spending $$$ on fragrances. I could only imagine how perfect it would be. There is just not enough time to spend in the most perfect retail establishment in the world. Every service establishment should attend and graduate from F&M University.
Be the first to ReplyFull of empty tables but they said they're fully booked.
Very pretentiously staff and I won't recommend.
Be the first to ReplyThe afternoon tea was everything we had hoped.
Lovely room, attentive service and delicious tea and food
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon tea: not the best or worst but definitely room
Afternoon tea: not the best or worst but definitely room for improvement. The general decor was nice, what you would expect from an esteemed establishment like Fortnum and Mason. The piano player live music gently playing in the background was nice. Servers were polite but lacked connection. We had several different ones who brought food over and dropped things off and one main one who seemed a bit green and did not communicate very well. We didn't ask for any food refills. I only wanted to take my leftovers in a box and the waiter brought 1 box. I had to ask 3 times for another box so I could separate scones from the wet gelatinous desserts. Then he wouldn't even give me a bag, saying the box was designed to be carried out. Ok? What the. They charge 10 pence for a paper bag on the shopping side so I don't get it. Here is my biggest suggestion for improvement in service to the management: when the server greets the guests, ask them if they have dined here before and if not, give a basic rundown on how the tea service works and extras/refills and what you can expect and then guests won't be so confused. I saw every guest around me seated, given menus and asked right away what they wanted. I had already done a lot of research beforehand but all the tourists around me were confused and asked so many questions that could have been cleared up from the beginning! My other disappointment was the food. Sloppy presentation of the cakes. Also the scones were very dry and crumbled as soon as I cut them in 2. Kind of tasteless as well. The sandwiches were very basic. Curry chicken is so overdone. Where is the creativity? Ham sandwich. Sad. The teas were fabulous. Only wish the hot water they used was hotter.I wanted to love this tea experience for the history and beauty of the establishment but for $190 for two people including service charge, it did not meet expectations.

I've been to many afternoon teas, yet this one has become my all-time favorite. The food was delicious (the coronation chicken was so good), there was so much food that I didn't get to try (but no worries, because you get to take it all home!), the service was spectacular, and the ambiance was special and beautiful. Highly recommend!

Taste: 5Value: 5Service: funnyI can't believe I never reviewed this place! I love it so much. Anytime I have friends going to London, I have to ask them to bring back some tea from this place. If only they could also bring back the tea sandwiches, patisseries, and slices of cake nice and fresh, it would be perfection. I loved that there was a HUGE shop attached to the large tea room. Unlike in America, the tea service here is "refreshable" meaning unlimited pots of tea AND all the foods. Yes, I repeat, you can finish your whole tray of sandwiches and sweets and they will bring out a. whole. new. tower. of goodies. It is amazing! I can't wait to go back again for high tea someday!
Be the first to ReplyGreat for a one time experience but nothing that is drawing
Great for a one time experience but nothing that is drawing me back. It was very beautiful and the sandwiches were great as were the scones. ย Glad we did it but will try another spot next time we head over the pond.
Be the first to ReplyFortnum & Mason has always been my favorite for tea when
Fortnum & Mason has always been my favorite for tea when visiting London but I recently took family there and it was very disappointing. Our server was was not pleasant or friendly. In the past, our servers always made our experience grand and very informative explaining about the different teas, customs, traditions, etc. The topping on the cake was when she asked if we wanted the large slices of cake at the end of our tea. We said we'd take them to go. She brought them on plates instead. We took a bite and I was so embarrassed in front of my guests because I had previously raved about the cakes. The cake today was so dry and stale. It was terrible. When she asked if we wanted to take them with us, we said no. She made a rude face and looked disgusted. I quickly said, yes, that's fine out of embarrassment. We didn't want to take them with us because they were frankly, inedible. We spent almost $600 on this tea for four people. I'm sorry, but I would expect fresh cake for that kind of price. We got the average afternoon tea for four people plus a bottle of champagne. After tip and tax, our bill was close to $600. Previously, I would wholeheartedly recommend Fortnam & Mason for tea, especially if it was someone's first time but I am no longer confident that it would be worth it.
Be the first to ReplyFortnum & Mason afternoon tea never disappoints.
Service is impeccable. Beautiful ย Ambience. My daughter & I make it a point to sample various afternoon teas when traveling. By far this ranks as our all time favorite. The freshest bread and their sandwiches, scones with just the perfect snap and moist inside. Try a jug of their raspberry lemonade. Fresh strawberries and raspberries a must. Our favorite tea is the chamomile and bee pollen. The best.
