Came with friends for dinner.
Very attentive service and the food was great. Started with a sushi appetizer and I had the swordfish that was perfectly cooked and came on a bed of spinach and delicious potato dumplings. Others got the King salmon and the halibut. All of us raves about the food. Some of the meals I really wanted to try were large and for 2 people so I had to pick something else on the menu. Great atmosphere but because we made last minute reservations we had to eat outside in the cold. They were nice and gave us blankets and they had heaters, but it was still cold because they need more heaters out there. They charged us an $11 service fee that pays for the staff benefits. Waiter offered to remove when we inquired what that entailed but we didn't make a big deal.

The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some excellent recommendations. We had 2 different kinds of oysters that came with all the fixings (amazing house sauces and toppings). The entrées were very large portions and were straight out of the ocean fresh (I believe they get daily deliveries). I think we read this spot has a Michelin star too, which makes sense because everything was delicious.

Best dinner ever! Our server Ian recommended the halibut and the swordfish, both were 10/10. Staff is so friendly and attentive. We loved it here! Will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyReally good on all accounts.
Only negative if you need to look for one is loud and busy. But it IS a fish house.
Be the first to ReplyThe food, drinks, and service is very good.
The staff is very welcoming from the moment you walk in to when you leave. It is a restaurant that I am sure to become more of a regular at since my two experiences have been great ones.

What a lovely little dinner! The Fishery strikes again! We've been coming to this place for years and have only been disappointed once (wrong star alignment (?)).Tonight the menu was a preset Valentine's dinner for 2 and I can happily say that they satisfied with every item. We also opted for the wine pairings and that added a lot to the experience. Our server took his time to explain everything and gave us suggestions and options. He was also very attentive throughout the dinner and we were very happy with the service. The restaurant was full of amorous couples celebrating, so that created the perfect atmosphere. First was a seafood platter including a few oysters, a shiitake and scallop tartar (yummy!), crab cocktail and Kaluga caviar. Everything was fresh, well thought out and hit the spot, including the wine that came with it.The main course was seabass en croute with morels and squid ink farfalle. The fish was cooked to its best and every bite was a savory feast. Once again, the wine was perfectly matched and we were getting tipsy in true Valentine's day fashion.Dessert was an OK strawberry Pavlova, and a couple of chocolate bonbons that were a nice end of the meal.We were a bit surprised that we had one main course and one dessert to share but the food was enough and the alcohol cleared all remaining doubts.Team Fishery, thank you for the pleasant experience!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was excellent.
Three of us started with cocktails. The bar has a good selection of craft liquor. Next we had the spicy calamari followed by bowls of clam chowder. We tied two meals that were for two people, the rockfish and swordfish. The amount of food could have easily served five or six people. The preparations for the rockfish was excellent and we squeezed lime juice to finish the flavors. The swordfish came out slightly behind the rockfish because it is seared and allowed to rest, them seared again I think. Our server told us it would take 30 minutes to prepare when we ordered.
Be the first to ReplyWow, what a great find! My husband was going to take me
Wow, what a great find! My husband was going to take me there for Valentine's Day but they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so we went there on a Friday for dinner instead. It was worth the wait for sure! I love seafood and this place did not disappoint! The food was top notch. We indulged and had poke, calamari, and clam chowder as starters. The poke was amazing, I will go back just for that. Best fried calamari! Cooked perfectly! Most places we've been would fry them to oblivion and left with no flavor and dry like cardboard! This one was perfect and delicious. My husband loved his clam chowder and would go back just for that. I had the squid ink risotto with scallops. Tasty but the risotto was very very very rich. The butter was quite overwhelming! My husband had the scallops fettuccine, also very good. Bit pricey with small portions but would go back on special occasions. The service and ambiance were spot on. Brooke, our waitress was super nice and friendly and made great recommendations from their menu. I love to cook so I know good food when I try them. This maybe my new fave restaurant!!
Be the first to ReplyLunch here was outstanding.
I highly recommended this family owned restaurant. We had fish and chips (piping hot, very fresh fish, generous portions, and the the perfect batter) and the catch of the day (sea bass with house made farfalle, arugula and mushrooms). The food was all excellent and the service was top notch. And the pots de crème with French press coffee was a great dessert. Yum!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was great in a very comfortable setting.
They boast ocean to table and delivered accordingly.
Be the first to ReplyHas been one of my favorite restaurants for some years .
Lately my meals have been a 4 out of 8 to 10 which was whatI had always expected. I had the clams w pasta .. very disappointing....something is changing if in chef and or management..
Be the first to ReplyThe Fishery experience is what a Michelin Star restaurant
The Fishery experience is what a Michelin Star restaurant is all about. Fresh tasty seafood with excellent service. Unlike poorer restaurants like Sovereign Modern Thai Cuisine that utterly failed at freshness, quality, and service, The Fishery demonstrates that it's possible to maximize the diners experience by keeping the things simple yet elegant. Everyone was very friendly, all smiles, and made eye contact from start to finish (awesome) and the outdoor seating, while simple, was quite nice in a neighborhood I wouldn't have expected to find this level of high quality food. We started off with the Clam Chowder (my dish which could pass for New England clam chowder) and the Fishery Stew (my friends choice which had a slight Mediterranean taste). For me, the touches of bacon elevated the soup. We also shared the Calamari which is the way it's supposed to be done. Lightly breaded so that you can see and taste the calamari. The entree consisted of the Mexican Shrimp Fettuccine which had a delicate taste that complimented the shrimp and scallops. My friend had the White Seabass and unfortunately, it wasn't a favorite. While the fish was tend and the squid ink added a twist, there was nothing that elevated the dish and made it special. I only had one bite and my friend picked at it for quite a while. We finished the night with Chocolate Pot de Creme and Panna Cotta. Now we were disappointed not to see more interesting and creative desserts like we had at Nine-Ten the previous night (What wonderful desserts they were) so we happy at least to find that both desserts tasted good enough. We would go again to try some of the other appetizers and entrees, just find another place for dessert.
Be the first to ReplyBeen going for years.
The past two years they've slacked a little. They've been recreating ceviche and the new spice they added to it's horrible. They've add cinnamon to some of their dishes and it just doesn't blend well.I get creativity but don't change something that works.Bring back the ratatouille! Now that was Delicious!Or Swordfish sausage unbelievable!Didn't sound good but it was AWESOME! So flavorful with the right amount of spice.
Be the first to ReplyWe arrived with a party of 4 at 8:15pm on a Saturday.
I didn't realize our reservation was for 8:45, so we waited a while, but we were promptly sat at 8:45 ish. We were greeted after a few minutes by our server who took our order for cocktails and such. Next we were served water by another guy who appeared to be a runner and was possibly filling in for our server, he was honestly the nicest person out of the group of employees that we met. We asked about specials, but they were out of all specials by this time. Our server eventually came back to take our order and when asked informed us that they were out of all sushi items due to being out of sushi rice. I made a comment about waiting for 30 minutes to be sat, and stated that I was only planning on ordering sushi items, but no big deal, I found something else on the menu and made the best of it. The food is outstanding, top notch fish stew, and the appetizers both cold and hot were amazing. Apps were a bit on the smaller size, but over all no complaints whatsoever with the food. Tuna tataki was stunning and best I've every had. Service was lack luster for the quality of food. We had to ask for our drinks several times and had to ask for refills, had to get up and go to the bar to ask for chopsticks for the items that are served as sashimi (since there was no sushi rice maybe they forgot that other items still need chopsticks to pick up?), had to ask what they had for dessert, had to ask for the check, etc. Server did make sure to remind us that our reservation was for 8:45 though, we didn't have to flag him down to ask for that! Man I'm glad he found some time to make that known! When we got our check it was most likely around $500 because our 2 person portion was 230. We split the check down the middle between two couples, and left. Desserts and food are the saving grace, but I can't say I would recommend folks come to this place because of the service. No greeting from the manager, no follow up about being out of items, etc. Honestly, I felt like I was at a Denny's when it came to service. It's a shame to see such excellent food be over shadowed by poor prep, planning, and overall FOH experience. To their credit, they did say it was their busiest night thus far of the year, ground breaking that this event took place in July, at the beach.... imagine that. Maybe my expectations were just too high, so overall, I blame myself. Still tipped 20%.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was hot, fresh and so delicious.
The staff was more than kind and patient while informing the customers with the latest specials and best recommendations. I highly recommend going to the Fishery and enjoy their dishes.
Be the first to ReplyCrusted halibut tender & flavorful.
Thanks Nick for finding the solo diner a seat & friendly service Mark! Makes for an enjoyable dinner.
Be the first to ReplyIt's hit and miss here.
.I don't know if they're under new management but we decided to try again.. we had the halibut & chips.. the food is outstanding the service questionable.. and the prices a good deal higher.. ni longer our go to place..
Be the first to ReplyThe best steamed clams.
All the other offerings are just as impressive, too. I especially like the casual beach vibe. The lights that are on the main front sign are inviting and have perfect ambiance.

Service was sloooooooooooooooooooow, but the food was pretty damn fantastic. Loved the grilled oysters, the grilled calamari and the miso kanpachi. My friend loved his clam chowder.
Be the first to ReplyFood was very good.
For the price you certainly expect a higher level of service. Our server definitely wasn't ready for a establishment like this.
Be the first to ReplyWe were looking forward to some tastey, good quality
We were looking forward to some tastey, good quality seafood dishes based on previous visits. We ordered two different types of raw oysters on a half shell as an appetizer, with freshly grated horseradish and a Mignonette sauce. Yummy. Then a crunchy salad which was quite nice, the light dressing was delicious, with a hint of tahini. This was followed by a macadamia nut encrusted fish dish and a somewhat over salted Mediterranean style fish with tomato sauce and capers on a bed of spinach. As I was nearing the end of my main course I began to feel exhausted and wondered why, because I don't drink and hadn't over eaten. We passed on dessert, I just wanted to go home quickly and sleep. On the way home I began to feel queasy and nauseous. We had to pull over in front of someone's front lawn as I quickly opened the car door and vomited ( I apologize to the house owner!) !!! Feeling a bit better we continued home, where, after a few hours, I again vomited and now had diarrhea. The following day I felt exhausted but better, just a headache throughout the day. I called and complained about my food poisoning, presumably from an oyster, and was politely offered a refund for the oysters, which hardly is compensation for how terrible I felt.

Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food.Clam Chowder: one of the best in the country. That's it.Seafood Tower: oysters are not outstanding, but shrimps are great. The best part are the salsa sauce, everyone loves that.Macadamia Crusted Alaska Halibut: I can totally understand why people calls it "uncrusted", but it does keep a great balance between the fresh and fatty of the fish. Overall, the Fishery is the first restaurant we had in the SoCal vacation and it meet our expectations in every way.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a random find for us, as we were visiting the area.
The clam chowder was so good. The swordfish and gnocchi was so flavorful. The fish was so moist. The gnocchi was smooth with just the right amount of cheese. Service was amazing.
Be the first to ReplyNice atmosphere.
Food was delicious. Poke was some of the best i have ever had. Clams were excellent. Macadamia nut crusted halibut was one of the best fish dishes i have ever had. the fish alone was one one of the best pieces of fish i have ever had in my life!! Its just to bad it all had to come at once. We had every dish we ordered sitting on the table at the same time...and trust me im no slow eater. when you spend $200 for 2 people you dont really expect to get rushed. I have been trying to figure out why...We did have a 5:45 reservation. Im guessing they needed to turn that table by the bathroom for some later guests. just a tip for future diners i would say Dont MAKE A EARLY RESERVATION!!! IF you do prepare to be slammed!!!!
Be the first to ReplyI have never posted a restaurant review in my life.
