Exquisite experience and by far the "gold standard" for old
Exquisite experience and by far the "gold standard" for old world dining and atmosphere. The food is presented beautifully, is a delight to the palate and and service is top drawer, all the way. The French Room is a stand alone, and by far, more divine than four stars. In Dallas' dull, inferior dining of TXMX, lack luster service and dull, over steak houses, THIS is the place for your superb dining experience in Dallas. Check that, in all of TX.

The French Room is quite the experience and I'm really glad my daughters and I were fortunate enough to spend an afternoon there with family. Once you survive the downtown Dallas construction maze, you can valet at the entrance before the main Adolphus entrance. Be sure to bring your valet card to the host at The French Room to validate it. Valet was only $10 after that. We dressed for the occasion in summery dresses and sandals and fit right in with the vibe. The wait staff is impeccable. They are so attentive and took the time to describe each and every bite they brought to the table. We were not rushed and enjoyed having a wonderful time together. I enjoyed the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the delicious teas and the yummy sandwiches and sweets. We were so full, we had them box up our sweets for us to enjoy at home. This is not my first formal afternoon tea and they did a wonderful job from start to finish. The tea room is absolutely stunning and bright and sunny. This is a great spot for a special occasion. Make sure to reserve your spots ahead of time and bring cash to tip drivers. All in all, a great afternoon with people we loved.

Great dining experience! We dined here for brunch to celebrate our anniversary. It was a wonderful experience. The dining room was nothing short of exquisite. The waitress was exceptionally kind and attentive; explaining each course and beverage served. Afternoon Tea consisted of a glass of champagne, two types of tea, a savory course, and a sweet course. Everything was great. My only complaint would be the price. It was overpriced in my opinion for the amount of food that was served. The entire meal was roughly 10 small bites but the bill came to $200. Gratuity and fees were automatically included.

We had reservations in advance for high tea and they called the morning of and canceled!!! It was for a birthday celebration and we were unable to book high tea anywhere else since they all require reservations at least 24 hours in advance. They said that they had to cancel due to an "inconvenience " at the hotel! We were the one's inconvenienced, thanks for ruining a bday French Room!!

I just had tea at the french room in the adolphus hotel, oh where to start, Bruce and Rodrigo were very welcoming, i sat down and Aly right away gave my water and Jitendra constantly kept it filled, Teresa was great she walked me through my server and made sure i have everything i need, Jesus kept me company and Connie gave me smiles. The food was amazing Chef Freddy and all the other cooks really put some thought into the courses good potions and great flavors, James kept my tea filled and not to mention they celebrated my birthday with me which was very special definitely a core memory, the atmosphere was great and all the staff was very attentive and welcoming, definitely coming back for a great experience.

My family and I have been to tea several times during the holidays over the years. Our recent visit here on Father's Day was especially on point! Today our waiter James was highly attentive, and on other visits Connie has always been just wonderful. Always a relaxing and enjoyable experience with perfect service. The menu is always changing and we always look forward to visiting throughout the seasons!
Be the first to ReplyI had heard great things from family and friends.
The ambiance was aesthetically pleasing but the price was incredibly expensive for sub-par food and I was disappointed that I couldn't even pick a specific tea.

So delish and such a pretty dining room! Connie hosted us and is the sweetest lady, so amazing! Everything was explained, dietary restrictions were accommodated and was such a wonderful experience. 10/10 would come again!

We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to accommodate my group right away! Our server, Connie was so welcoming and sweet and loved taking photos for us. It was my first time doing a tea service and I will definitely come back whenever I'm in Dallas!
Be the first to ReplyI was very impressed with The French Room.
I could write paragraphs on the decor alone. It's very aesthetically pleasing. The only negative was that the room felt very humid. I like that the menu is straight to the point. My favorite savory dishes were the cucumber and pesto chicken sandwiches. The best sweet dish was the banana cream choux. I never had to ask for anything because they were very attentive.

I had such a great time at the French Room! Connie was so amazing and so sweet of a waitress. She was so understanding even with our friends showing up late and doing her best to take care of them. They aren't able to sit or serve once it's 30 minutes past your reservation time. It was beautiful inside with all the detail. The tea and the pastries were delicious. Highly recommend. I'm from MN and traveled to TX for a Birthday and it was so fun.
Be the first to ReplyI had a very lovely tea service today at The French Room.
I highly recommend! The food was delicious, the tea tasty, and the atmosphere relaxing.

My husband and I had tea at the French Room in the Adolphus Hotel on Valentine's Day. Everything was beautiful and fancy and we really enjoyed it! The waitstaff was attentive and friendly and knowledgeable.

We were on our way out to dinner, but we decided to stop at our hotels bar called the French room bar.. It's very dark, very mysterious, very sexy, very old world .. It's adjacent to the fancy room restaurant. So gorgeous light and bright and full of windows.. opposite of the bar. (you can just tell that back in the 20s and 30s, men would gather there and smoke their cigars and have their whiskeys) We decided to have one of their specialty cocktails called, save the bees it was gin based, and it was delicious. we decided to take it out to the main lobby where the beautiful fireplaces are we sat. We looked at some of the museum quality books and drank our cocktail.

Ms Connie is the sweetest person and made the event such a beautiful experience! Thank you for being such a joy today!
Be the first to ReplyService is always excellent here.
Went for a weekday tea and the sampling of savory and sweet items was wonderful. I preferred the second tea to the first. Lovely long lunch with no need to rush or over eat.

This place is a dream! The staff was so kind and absolutely created a flawless experience! I'm not super familiar with Dallas area, so I would suggest parking in the parking garage I have provided in photos. "Dalpark Garage" It's a 3 minute walk.

Very elegant, if you end up going, due to your time to look up. if you don't you will miss two absolutely stunning chandlers. High Tea is always a great experience and a great idea for your girlfriends, date and a small get together. The service was immaculate! Very knowledgeable, and very descriptive with the tea and food. This would be in my Top 5 things to do in Dallas. Stunning.

Below is part of the email I first sent the French Room directly. Days later, I have heard no response. I am very disappointed and saddened to leave a poor review. I made reservations for the afternoon tea on 12/17/22 for 3/11/22 at 2:30. I received and responded to a reservation text on Thursday, 3/9/23 confirming that we would be there. On the day of, we made arrangements to not only drive to Dallas, but to look our best, only to get a call at 1:50 that there was an event that evening and our reservation was canceled. To say we were disappointed doesn't begin to explain how we felt. When my husband expressed his disappointment, the person calling us started to get snippy by saying this was not the first time we had been called. However, there was no contact with me other than confirming the date and time earlier in the week. I think what bothers me the most is that an event such as the one you all had Saturday was not planned moments before and therefore, there was plenty of time as well as multiple ways to contact us about the cancellation prior to the day of.

This is my second high tea experience in Dallas but on a more elevated scale. I went back in January for my birthday and luckily was able to still enjoy their Lunar New Year menu! I made reservations pretty early through Resy, I think they usually open a couple months in advance. I recommend booking the earlier times as people and high tea typically run over time so you end up waiting even if you have reservations. What I noticed since when we left, there were a lot of parties outside waiting. The French Room is located in the Adolphus on the second floor, just walk up the stairs to the right. A very nice lobby itself. The French Room was stunning as well. The service was amazing. Tea service was $65 per person. To start off you get a sparkling drink/champagne followed by 3 different savory options paired with their choice of tea. You may think this surly won't fill me up, then they bring out the dessert platters. This was what sent us over the top. By the end of it, I took a bit of each item, all delicious and made so perfectly. You could also take them home as well. We asked for a picture from our server and she handed it off to another staff member who went over the top for the best photo opportunity. I can't wait to come back here as the menu changes depending on the season.

This place was amazing! I come to visit my parents from South Carolina when I get a break from college! My mother suggested this and was it worth it? Absolutely! If you have been debating on doing this just do it! If your a lover of tea time, cucumber sandwiches, and enjoy history this is your place! Service was just astonishing and it's very pretty and relaxing!
Be the first to ReplyI brought a friend here for her birthday.
I'll start by saying, the hotel & actual tea time room is stunning. It's nicely done, classy, and perfect! Unfortunately, beyond that I wasn't too impressed. We were seated about 15 minutes into our reservation. About 45 minutes after we were seated (1 hour into the res), a lady came by and suggested we hurry up and eat because we would get kicked off the table in 30 mins. When I made the reservation, there was NO mention of a time limit. That being said, for $85 a person, we shouldn't feel rushed - quite literally they asked us to hurry and finish. The food itself was okay, we enjoyed some of the items, nothing to dream about. The savory items were better than the sweet items in my opinion. I probably wouldn't go back or recommend The French Room for tea time. Unfortunate
Be the first to ReplyBad service, bad food, weak tea, and overcharges.
A friend and I decided to go to the French Room for afternoon tea on Sunday. None of the food, including the pastries was fresh. The first pot of tea had not flavor, so we asked for another pot. Again, the tea was flavorless, like stained water. The waiter got surely when we told him the second pot was not satisfactory. He brought another pot and told us if we didn't like this pot of tea, then we needed to see a doctor. Again, the tea was flavorless. For some background, I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, where green and jasmine tea is grown on the mountainside. The tea was brewed from tea bags, not tea leaves. I assumed that since the French Room had a reputation for being a good restaurant, and given the cost for Sunday tea, they would serve quality tea. What was supposed to be a special occasion shared between two friends ended being an unpleasant experience. I will never return.
