A great find
Located 2 blocks off of Atlantic on 2nd Ave this was a great find. The cocktails were the initial attraction and those definitely delivered. Interesting options and professional technique. Very impressed. For dinner, I had the octopus which was great, tender, comes with some mashed potatoes and a pepper sauce. Really well done. I had the scallops with black garlic raviolo, and a parm foam. Really good. Everything from Service to presentation, the food, drinks, service was first class. Definitely plan to return on the next visit.

One of our guests found out they had Covid and we had to cancel at the last minute. The lady on the phone was horribly rude. Awful people.

The Grove provides a singular dining experience in the Delray scene. It's not a chain. The owner works in the kitchen, and he and his team deliver some expertly prepared and most awesome food. The staff is gregarious and attentive. Flatware and plates come and go at appropriate times. The wine selection is good, and the cocktails are great. The place is too loud, though, detracting from the pleasure of dining since when you can't converse with your guests.

We ate here for breakfast, lunch and dinner over the course of a week. The service is spotty, a little arrogant attitude by some of the staff. Hit or miss with ingredient availability that isn't divulged until we've sat with the menu for 15-20 mins and then want to order. Yikes!
Be the first to ReplyFirst time at the Grove - lovely dinner
First time to the Grove in Delray after many visits to Delray. We had a lovely meal and the service was wonderful and really made for a lovely dining experience. All of our food was very good. The dishes are all intense with flavors and rich and filling. The appraisers were nicely prepared although the sauce on the beef carpaccio (although delicious) overpowered the subtle flavors of the beef. The snapper was really good (a bit lemony which I like) and the size of the dish was perfect for me. My husband had the fusilli with meat sauce very good. Dessert and coffee were very good too. The wines by the glass complemented the food very well. Service was very friendly and attentive with out being overly hovering.

We went with very high expectations based on recommendations. We had a delicious appetiser to share but our main courses were inedible, far too salty and obviously not checked when leaving the kitchen. Our waitress and the manager were extremely understanding and we left just paying for our drinks and the appetiser. Disappointing for a birthday supper. Unfortunately we won’t be back and there are far better places to eat in Delray Beach.
Be the first to Replyupscale food and upscale prices
Located in the trendy up and coming Pineapple grove district, the restaurant serves haute Cuisine but charges for it. They change their menu frequently based on available local ingredients and the selections are rather limited. The chef painstakingly prepares each dish with the finest ingredients, seasonings and accoutrements. A $50 dollar scallop dish consisted of three large sea scallops toped with a thing slice of zucchini and dill in a creamy polenta sauce, The taste was to die for- but the price was to match, also at around $50. This is definitely an upscale restaurant with unusual food, excellent service and lovely ambience. I probably wont return that often because my budget wont allow it but this is definitely one of Delray's best restaurants- and there are many.

Had dinner here last week. First time/Last time. Had a reservation. 2 adults and a dog in a stroller. Arrived on time. It was a hot and humid evening. It is a charming little restaurant There are candles on all the tables inside. Sadly I only saw this though a window. We were seated at large stone table with picnic benches along the sides. To sit near each other one of us has to sit on a bench. The remainder of the patio was a table with 2 chairs and 3 chairs arranged around a table but with the table missing - so just three chairs. There were dried up leaves that needed to be swept. We had no candle. And the music was blaring - speaker was right over our head. We asked that the music be turned down - which it was - until it was turned back up again. We considered, and should have left. During our romantic dinner alone on this patio area the hostess came out and used the other table with the 2 chairs to do some of her work-- I thought this was exceptionally rude and made me feel even worse that we were eating in her office. Our waiter was surly, annoyed to be serving us outside (told me so) AND sweating profusely (also told me he is a sweat-er) My husband ordered a drink that he did not enjoy - just took one sip. At no point was he asked if he wanted something else -- or if it should be taken away - the glass just sat sweating onto the table until the meal was done. We ordered a bottle of sparkling water and myhusbands glass was shipped the waiter walked off with the bottle and my husbands glass and returned with a glass of sparkling water -- well what happened to the rest of our bottle? Bottle of water should pour 4 glasses but we only got 2. The food was ok - but totally not memorable. I had to think about what I had - which was risotto with short rib. This was just a large bowl of rice cooked in a salty beef stock. I expected some short rib but I was wrong. My husband had U10 scallops - when we asked what that mean - we were kind of shamed for not knowing until I remembered from grocery shopping (about 10 to the pound). They were ok. They were asked to be slightly more done but were still raw in the middle. Another couple showed up and she didn't want to say or eat on this patio and they were seated alone on the other side. We knew they would be furious at what we found next.... When we went to the bathroom we passed a lovely charming backyard patio area - with FANs. I asked the hostess why we could not be seated there and she asked if we wanted to sit there now.. well no, dinner is over and we are done and ready to leave. And she said she would note it in her log for future and then she told me next time I should leave the dog home. Listen, they dog goes with me -- but I am totally fine if you say you cannot accommodate me and the dog - I get it and that is OK. Just be honest and don't make me feel like a 3rd rate customer. And get the waiter to wipe his forehead. It literally makes me nauseous to think about. And they must have known we were unhappy because she refunded 20%..(without us asking- just saw on CC bill. but I would have rather had a good experience vs saving $40. Live and learn

First thing music was way loud above our table. Made it hard to converse. Our food got lost in their system and we had a very long wait! What I loved was our waitress/ manager! Very apologetic and said dinner was on them.. I figured dinner not drinks or sides. It’s very rare that an apology comes with a total coverage! Thank you! When we received food it was hot and delicious! Scrambling to give waitress a tip! She was committed to the cause and said it was ok to not tip her!! No way! Wish it could have been more but cash isn’t our thing!! Food was great and I appreciate the thought you guys put into a return customer!!

While visiting family we went to dinner at The Grove restaurant in Delray. This restaurant is terrific. This was one of the best restaurants that we ate at while in the Boca/Delray area. The menu changes quite often. The evening that we went two of the people in our party had the grouper and the other two had a pasta dish. Entrees are quite creative. Wine list is terrific. One of the appetizers was an octopus. Typically octopus can be quite chewy. This was incredibly tender. Desserts are terrific. Don't miss this one but make reservations well in advance.

The Grove is the complete package. First the food. We were a 4-top and chose to sample and share several dishes. All were well prepared, well presented and delicious. Portions are not large but adequate. Bartender and wait staff are professional and knowledgeable about each choice on the menu. Room is open with a great vibe-nice crowd and energy but not at all boisterous. All of this combines for a great restaurant experience. We are not from south Florida but I’m quite sure this has to be one of the best restaurants in the Delray area.

The service is incredible, Jeremey is the single best server I have met in all of Florida and compares to the best in New York, Toronto, Montreal and DC. Dina is perhaps the best host I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She is so accommodating and kind, Dina really cares about every aspect of your meal and experience. The food is to die for. I swear I have not had a better meal in my life. Everything is fresh and unique but also flavorful and grounded. The menu is great, even though it looks small there is always something for everyone. The homemade pasta is the best I've ever had. The Grove is a must visit if you are in Delray, I am always looking forward to my next visit.

Once again, I went to The Grove after not being there for maybe 9 months. They do have a full liquor bar and have added a very nice outdoor seated dining area in the back. I love the louvered awning that closes if it rains. We had another great meal. However, a few complaints on the timing and service. The waitress was super polite, and knowledgeable. No problem there. It did take a long time to get our alcoholic beverages from when we sat down. They did apologize that the bar was so crowded they were a little behind. We had a Ginger Rabbit, a Pink Drink a Slightly Smoked and Ty Nant Sparkie. All were $18 and very tasty, but very light on the alcohol. we did order another round. I did ask for some more bourbon in my Ty Nant Sparkle as it was rather lite the first time. I like to have my drinks before i eat dinner. That works for me to get that bit of a buzz and then easy going forward. I don't drink after dinner because i feel that is a waste. But I digress. We did not get the drinks until we got our entrees!! It was like a half hour. Again we received apologies. I hesitated to cancel the drink and then got lost in conversation at the table. Suddenly, or i should say, late, the drink arrived and i had forgot about it. Oh, that extra pour to know I have having a bite of life--was $11. That is on top of the $18 for the base drink. I think that is too much money to get a real drink. I drink that lets you know you are taking a bite of life. I happen to own three restaurants and I don't feel that gouge is necessary. In fact, they drinks were so late, instead of an apology I would have comped the patrons for that second drink. That really would have gone a long way with us. Oh, and the extra shot, that was House Bourbon. Really guys? We got the Local greens ($18 a little small on the portion but delicious), mushroom soup ($17), for appetizers and they were excellent. I always get the mushroom soup if they have it. Even though it was a warm, muggy night, its just too delicious to pass up if it is available. Speaking of warm and muggy, we were seated outback in the newer area. Very pleasant and well kept and designed, but it was warm. They had some fans, floor fans, that were right in our faces and that was uncomfortable. Also, the music out back was too loud so we asked them to turn it down. They did, but not enough. If you sit out back there in a very nice sophisticated area you shouldn't have to talk so loud over bar music. It wasn't even nice background mood setting music. So, the waitress suggested we order everything at once and we did. We had the Chicken for $42, the Fusilli for $38, the Cavatelli for $34 and the Agnolotti for $38. All the entrees were well perfect. Presentation was great, temperature great. We had the standard Monkey Bread and Heath Bread Pudding--both were gone in an instant. So, this time, the meal took very long, the drinks even longer, but the quality of the food was still as good as you will get anywhere in Delray. I consider this time a hiccup in an other wise stellar performance over the last few years.

From the service to the appetizers to the food this place is top-notch. Everything from being greeted by a sweet Hungarian woman who was the manager to the savvy bartenders to the amazing food. I came in solo looking to have dinner at the bar which was full and the manager came up to me and introduced herself and asked if there’s anything she could help me with and I told her I was trying to have dinner at the bar and she told me she would have seated it as soon as one opened and she was extremely helpful. Then there were two bartenders who were amazing at their craft and very knowledgeable of the menu as well. Food came out promptly and was amazing. If you go here you have to make it a point to try to carpaccio. A++ experience

We were guests in town and had reservations at the Grove. Tough parking so we dropped everyone out front on a raining night. This place looks like and old auto service garage. Very cool sitting in front of the garage door. Jeremy our waiter was great explaining the menu. Great meal with friends

Food was just average,at best. Octopus was like a local greek resturant but not that good . The duck entree was just 2 slabs of duck breast with beets was overpriced at $42. Qur wives had the cavatelli pastawhich was good ,but the portion was small for $32. It was a bit salty also. Over all the BREAD was the best, $5 a loaf. Bread pudding for dessert was just a lump of boring bread with a weak carmel sauce. The drnks were weak. The service was slow. Overall, it was not anything we expected given the reveiws on line. We, all 4 of us, will not be returning or recommending Th Grove.

Expect your taste buds to dance. The menu changes so you always have a different experience. It is a small place inside, so the noise level can get loud, I also think it has to do with the concrete walls. This is not a place if you are in a rush, this is a place to take your time and enjoy the culinary experience. We had a party of 9 which is a little large for this restaurant, but they provided excellent service and food. Everything we ordered was extremely good. Their espresso martini was one of the best I have every had.
Be the first to ReplyManagment Ruined Special Birthday Dinner
What a pity! Superb food, flawed by mismanagement. Had dinner last week with four friends to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant was aware it was my birthday because my friends brought a cake for me.. The wait staff is quite pleasant but service very slow. After an excellent meal as we were waiting for our credit cards to be returned with our checks, Paul, (the manager), came to our table and told us, (a bit nastily), to vacate the table IMMEDIATELY as the "second seating" was waiting for our table. If Paul had checked with the wait staff before demanding our exit, he would have found out that we were waiting for the bill. What could we have done? If Paul really knew how to treat people who spend over $100.00 per person for dinner, (after all, I'm reminding you, it was a birthday party with multiple bottles of wine, etc), he would have sent us to the bar for an after dinner drink on the house where we could have paid the bill and been out of the way. I worked in service businesses for over 40 years and that is how you treat your customer...that is if you want repeat business. I cannot understand how someone so rude can represent the front of the house! We will not be returning. P. S. Their reservation app says nothing about 1st or 2nd seating...
