The Ivy Tower Bridge London Reviews from The Last Year
Living on its reputation and its prime location
Living on its reputation and its prime location, the Ivy at Tower Bridge manages to offer underwhelming service. With one unscheduled extra guest at our business lunch, our request for an extra table to elongate our table was declined, despite having plenty of room and available idle tables in the back. Our (rather kind) waitress passed the request up the hierarchy and the sentence relayed from the floor manages by the mostly passive aggressive staff was implacable, as if we were suggesting a safety violation endangering other patrons' lives. Thus, we were left crammed at a long table, pushing plates around, repeatedly dropping cutlery and having our glasses hover over other diners’ food to take a sip of water. It was all rather embarrassing, since this was a business lunch of people who barely knew each other. When not contorting ourselves, we could enjoy the view of the River Thames, of the passing tourists, of the extravagantly dressed and made-up regulars and the busboys whose long and unkempt beards nearly floated in the leftovers they were vehiculating. The food itself was utterly forgettable, with the prix fixe set menu calibrated to attract visiting customers who would otherwise not think to go to such a place.
Great service
A splendid evening with a great food selection in lovely surroundings witha great view over tower bridge and the castle .. I must mention our super waitress Fiona who went above and beyond to help us and most importantly, smiled constantly.. which is refreshing!!
Rajan is the greatest waiter I've ever had.
He was so nice, apologized for stuff that wasn't even his fault. I asked for a Steak Medium and it came out well done, when he noticed I couldn't eat it, he genuinely felt bad. Offered me a new steak immediately and amazing dinner, most waiters are just blah blah blah follow company protocol while Rajan actually talked in a way no other waiter would. Genuine talk, like what other waiter would talk about their favorite Hindu God? (By the way it was the Hindu god of energy). The food was great, steak was well done the first time but they fixed it, "chips" were great as well
Great food and excellent service
Recently came to celebrate with our friends for their 10 year wedding anniversary. We were in the Tower Bridge room. The food was excellent, the view was amazing. Dina and Jake looked after us all evening, nothing was too much trouble, truly 5 star service from the both. Highly recommend.
Ate well
Very well eaten, the service was very good. the prices a little expensive though. The restaurant is ideally located at the foot of Tower Bridge.
Thank you Nelson for an incredible evening! Amazing service and great food!
Thank you Nelson for making our meal so special! Both Nelson and the entire team were so attentive, polite and welcoming. Impeccable service all around and delicious food, thank you all! 🌟
Excellent service, fantastic dining experience
We recently celebrated our dear friends 10 year wedding anniversary in the Tower Bridge room. Service was excellent, Dina and Jake went above and beyond to ensure our group had an amazing experience. The food was delicious and the cocktails were top notch. Highly recommend a visit to The Ivy Tower Bridge for a fantastic dining experience and 5 star service.
Beautiful and delicious!
Really beautiful place. Lovely decor, delicious food and great atmosphere. Service was really good and we loved the attention to detail. It was one of the best breakfasts I had and it was in the most glorious location. Looking forward to going back!
Fantastic!
Fantastic view, amazing steak and apple tart Highly recommend and special thanks to Deanna for throughly entertaining us throughout.
Perfect Afternoon, Thanks Deana!
We got the best London afternoon tea service at the ivy! The view, the little croissants, everything was wonderful! The cherry on top was our lovely Waitress Deana who was so cheery all throughout and even helped us take a polaroid picture as a keepsake! She was quite lovely and was very helpful in helping us pick various drinks x
Wedding Gala, lovely service from deana
Visited the ivy for my lovely cousin Jonathan’s Wedding and it was the best experience! Thanks Deana for being so kind and helpful, even during a mixup! Lovely service, had a great time x
So Soooo Good!!! I had the shepherds pie for dinner, and
So Soooo Good!!! I had the shepherds pie for dinner, and don't tell my mom... But it's the best shepherds pie I've ever had!!! Finished up my meal with a chocolate BOMB and it Was The BOMB!!!!
Hard poached eggs small tables and slow.
They always sit you on the smallest table they can even when empty. The poached eggs are always hard despite ordering soft. The service is slow. The Wetherspoons across the road is better.
Terribly slow service, hence 3 stars
Great location, next to Tower Bridge. Nice decor. Good choice of delicious food, medium to high prices. Only real letdown was that service wasn't good.... far too slow.. over an hour before starter, and nearly 3 hrs for 3 courses.....
Birthday treat
Fixed menu was good, service was ok I was covered in fluff (on my dark navy suit) from the napkin was told ‘no we can’t help’ then told basically get over it ‘it’s not a spillage’ just expected a more professional solution!
Outstanding service
Pre-theatre dinner. The service was outstanding! We were served by Yousef, who was very attentive and made us feel very special. It really enhanced our experience. Our food was delicious and beautifully presented. I also visited last December and received excellent service from Nizer, who recognised us this time. He gave me such a warm welcome that I came away feeling that I had been treated like royalty. What lovely staff! I have a booking in May and I am really looking forward to returning.
Amazing
Very nice and beautiful place and the terrace it’s divine Everything is so special in the view of the town bridge made the you even better
Excellent London Views Food Service
We went as a family of four, he food was good and the views amazing. The lady serving us was very attentive, so good service and the food was excellent nice steak good curry, fine wine and the desserts were amazing. We’ll be back.
The zucchini sticks were too much to finish but very good
The zucchini sticks were too much to finish but very good and easy to share. I had the chicken Milanese which was delicious and just enough for a dinner. My wife had the lobster spaghetti and enjoyed it very much. Happy we found a good dinner restaurant after last night which was not good. The service was great and the restaurant is very pretty. The chocolate/ cherry martini was wonderful finish to a great dining experience. We will return especially if we are going to the theater next door which could not be more convenient.
Wonderful experience celebrating friend’s birthday
Gorgeous interior and amazing views of Tower Bridge and river. Three of us had the pre-theatre menu and we all enjoyed our dishes. I can highly recommend their shepherd’s pie! All the staff were very nice but Moussa, our waiter, was exceptional. Attentive, friendly. One friend was celebrating her birthday and he brought her a dessert and sang Happy Birthday to her. We had a lovely experience. Thank you!
Very Nice Second Visit
The only thing for me that stopped this being a five star review is the process they have for delivering the food to the table. One set of staff brought the food out to a service table then they tried to get the waiting staff to serve it. However, we saw some food there for 2-3 minutes getting cold. But everything else was top quality. All staff we encountered were excellent and our waiter was top-notch; knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Food was delicious and I think at reasonable cost.
Poor service, great food!
The staff were very disappointing, for such a beautiful place and with the Ivy’s reputation for attentive service we were shocked by how poor the service was. Staff didn’t seem to want us there, not very helpful with a serious allergy on the table despite being pre-warned when booked in advance. It was a treat for my mum’s special birthday but felt let down by it. The food was delicious but shame service didn’t match.
Nice food and service
Cater well for gluten free would of liked couple more choices tho! Loved my monk fish curry. Friend had the fish and chips and enjoyed them too. Was served by several staff. 13.5 service charge added to the bill automatically which I think is a lot for a table of two! And you don't get just one server!
Driest burger I have ever had.
Wasn't really impressed by any of the food. I should have known when they didn't ask for how to cook it. The service was good. The ambiance was a little stuffy for my taste.
This place was the perfect Christmas dinner experience for
This place was the perfect Christmas dinner experience for our little family of 3 (we have a 3YO). I got the Christmas 3 course meal which was authentic and tasty (cheese soufflé, shepherd's pie & Christmas pudding), my wife got the Blackened Cod, and our little one got the fish & chips. The food was terrific and the desserts followed suit. The ambiance was tremendous: all dolled up for the holidays with an insane view of the Tower Bridge. Location is almost too good to be true and they did a great job on really providing the Christmas vibe. They had Christmas crackers for us which all 3 of us (as Americans) really enjoyed. Lastly, the service was excellent. I wish I could remember our server's name to include in the review because he was attentive, knowledgeable and the right amount of present. They were chock full and busy but it never felt it.
We tried to avoid this restaurant due to bad reviews but
We tried to avoid this restaurant due to bad reviews but actually we liked it. Duck salad, beef carpaccio and smoked salmon were all very good. Service was good. We are at night just before closing. The view and location by the tower bridge are very nice. Attending the bridge theatre Guys and Dolls production... next time we will plan to go to Ivy and not try to avoid it.
The food was decent, I had fish and chips.
The fish and chips was satisfactory but the mushy peas was an unappetising green sludge. The interior is beautiful and I was seated close to the outdoor section; it was a really lovely atmosphere being summer and the view of Londons landmarks in the distance. The service on the other hand is very bad, the waiters all seem snobby, you have to work really hard to get their attention. At the outside section they have a giant bin right next to the till, doesn't even have a lid or box cover to make it more discreet, not really a good look to have a nasty bin out in the open where people are eating. The main guy doing service in black suit blatantly ignored us when we were try to get a waiter to help us, extremely rude to look at a guest asking for help and you just turn you head as if you dont care. Im not sure why my partner went ahead and paid service charge to these undeserving people, especially when they gave us the worst service. Service is truly lacking and letting down what would be a great all round restaurant.
We stopped by for lunch and got a table for 3.
The food was bland and service was ok. On three separate occasions we had to remind our server of pending items. The highlight of our visit was the ambiance and décor. I selected the 2 course lunch special and the salmon was bland - a dash of sea salt and black pepper would have been great. My dessert however was delicious - the tropical sorbet. My sister also opted for the 2 course lunch special and ordered the steak. Unfortunately, the steak was also bland and the béarnaise sauce was awful (to quote her words). This place can be hit or miss depending on what you're looking for. But if anyone from operations or management are checking reviews - do consider seasoning your dishes a tad more. This restaurant is located in a busy touristy area and has the potential to do better.
Dinner was lovely for fathers day service was excellent
Dinner was lovely for fathers day service was excellent thanks to Collin who was attentive and recommended certain items on the menu. Nice setting with a modern yet elegant feel. Will return for more meals.
