Overcharged!
Reserved a table which cost $71 for five, tHree were children. Requested finish line but got a table with a pole blocking some of the view. Requested another table but they said they were reserved for people who come every day. We had fries, sandwiches, salmon, Sodas and iced tea. My daughter had a bloody Mary and they had the nerve to charge $24 for it. I questioned the waitress and she said it was because it was kettle one! I had a split of Moet and Chandon and that was $25 Which I expected. The bill with tip was $240. I am aware of the pricing but not for the bloody Mary. Food is average. Last year someone stole our friends credit card number. This year they did your credit card in front of you .We enjoyed the races and won.
Be the first to ReplyI agree with the 3 1/2 average rating but leaning more towards a 4.
I have read past reviews about horrible service and do not agree. The service is a little on the slow side however you are there for an entire afternoon so it was never a problem. Also our hostess, waitress and all the support help were all delightful and a pleasure to converse and joke with. I have also seen complaints about pricing. Well you are at the track and it is expensive. There are picnic areas out back with free tables that you can bring your own food and beverages and not many sporting or entertainment venues allow that. Also a $20 cheese platter had plenty on it and the Barrata salad was delicious. I was not impressed with the chicken tenders and fries but she enjoyed them. Beers and drinks were a little pricey but no more than you would pay at a pro sporting event or concert and the drinks were made well. You throw in the atmosphere of being at the greatest horse racing track in the world and it makes for a very pleasurable afternoon. Saratoga Race Track has one of the most professional and courteous staff I have experienced. I would recommend The Porch to anyone. It is worth a few extra bucks for the exciting atmosphere and view and I already mentioned the wonderful staff.
Be the first to ReplyWorst breakfast ever!!!!
Everything was ice cold, including the coffee (when you could find someone to give it to you). Got a slice of ham at carving station, could not even cut it with my knife. Thought this was great, at track, have breakfast and relax. NO SO! for the cost of $17.95 without tax PER PERSON was absolutely outrageous for the food quality and service that we received. Convenience is not always the best.

Five friends and I ate at The Porch. The food was good but the service left much to be desired. When it came time to pay the bill, 3 of us paid cash and 3 paid with credit cards. We left the tip separate in cash. When our waiter came back with our credit cards
He had no receipts for us to sign because the "printer was down." We were uncomfortable not having even a digital receipt but we didn't have a choice it seemed.
The next day when I looked at my credit card activity I saw that I had been charged double what the bill was! The other two friends who paid with the credit card also had been charged double! Our waiter had pocketed the cash payments and then charged 3 of us who paid by credit double so he wouldn't come up short. When I went back to the restaurant I spoke to the supervisor and toldd her what happened. After much backe and forth with her over several days we were all refunded our double payments. I don't know what consequences were given to the waiter, but it didn't make me feel good to know such a dishonest person was allowed to work there. I'm sure we weren't the first people he had scammed, maybe just the first time he was caught.
Location
Location location location. This is truly an example of how Saratoga is truly the summer place to be. Good food and drinks while watching the horses race! Truly exiting atmosphere and lots of fun for all!
Be the first to ReplyLocation Great...be ready to spend!!!!!
OK its Saratoga Race track so be ready to spend! The location is fantastic, and that is the main reason you should want to sit here, again very expensive!. Great view of the track near the finish line. Four of us had a table on Whitney Day so it was very busy, but our waiter took pretty good care of us. We basically had drinks and lite lunches for all of us. It can get hot here so if you don't want to spend $7 for a bottle of water you can ask for a pitcher of water which costs nothing.
I would not go here if you are looking for a great lunch. Average food, but once again great view.
Going downhill ....
The used imitation crab sticks on the "Crab Salad." The used butter lettuce instead of romaine for the Ceasar Salad and instead of "mixed greens" on other salads. They don't have enough bottles of ketchup to go around. The new menu is generally unappealing and a lot of old favorites and simple but dependable offerings have been removed. I think Centerplate was bought by another company so they probably revamped everything. The new seating charges are ridiculous -- they used to charge per person but they now charge per table so our group of three had to pay $25/day extra for an empty chair. We've been going for years but I don't think it's worth it any more.
Be the first to ReplyA winner, but not all-time great
Great venue at the finish line on the lower level, but a bit susceptible to the elements on a stormy day. Decent menu, good if not great service, and a bit of a small-town issue with silly matters such as getting cheese/ketchup on a hamburger or the lack of a place setting. But, I do recommend for it's pleasant place to spend the day at the track.
Be the first to ReplyLovely lunch at the Track
The service and food have both improved since the staffing overhaul of a couple of years ago. Much more professional and better menu. There is a $10/person/seating charge and you must order a meal to be allowed to sit at a table but you can keep it for the entire afternoon which is nice on a hot summer day. You are up close and personal with all the best that Saratoga offers and right on the finish line.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food & Service
This restaurant has come a long way. They have changed the staff for the better. Attentive and knowledgeable. We were asked twice by management if we were enjoying our visit. We spent the day at our table and had the omelet (excellent), cobb salad (excellent), large veggie salad (OK) and the pitcher of lemonade was very good - if you don't want to drink alcohol while betting, there are several options available for you. The waiter was terrific.
