Eggcellent We were walking around Borough Market when we came across the small Shell Seekers spot. Among other items, they had Scotch Egg listed as items they sold. I've never had a Scotch egg before and it was something I definitely wanted to try while we visited London. Once I saw they have Scotch Eggs I didn't pay any attention to anything else they offer, including the scallops I'm reading about in the other reviews. It was larger than I expected. I think the friendly and helpful person was really into getting me my first Scotch egg, including adding some brown jam in the container. There is no seating at Shell Seekers so I headed just beyond the market to get away from the crowd. The egg was not hardboiled as I expected, it was soft boiled or poached where the yolk was soft but not runny. The pork around the egg was thick and there was a little crunch on the outside, maybe made with breadcrumbs. As this was my first Scotch egg I have nothing to compare it to. I can say I was excited, it was fun to eat, and it was filling.

Saw this spot on the London episode of Somebody Feed Phil and made sure to stop by while I was at the Borough Market. The oysters are definitely the standout here. Big, plump and the sauces they offer pair wonderfully. I also recommend grabbing a handful of crevettes to enjoy. Delicious! Just be aware that there is no seating but you can use the small counter space near the napkins/ sauces.

A real gems in the heart of London's Borough Market

Just came across this by chance but glad i did, had the venison burger and it was possibly the tastiest burger i've ever had - the staff are so friendly too which always makes it a nicer experience

Bumped into this stall while browsing through Burough Market and it's too interesting to pass!Dorsett Scallops (7€) - 3 Stir Fried with Crispy Bacon. They're pretty big scallops, fresh & made to order. The seasoning're just alright, a bit oily but it's a unique snack, still worth the try!

Came for the Dorset Scallops- three succulent, hand-dived scallops served in a shell on a bed of stir fry and crispy bacon. It makes for a unique and photogenic pick but the flavors didn't quite blow me away as much as I'd hoped. The scallops seemed fresh and the service was friendly, but the stir fry was oily and the mixture overall needed seasoning. It was good though, just not great. Novelty factor and freshness make it a good pick though.

The scallops served on a large pretty scallop shell, and topped with fried bacon bits, over a bed of bean sprouts looks and sounds divine. I had to try it after seeing the pics and hearing folks rave about it on Borough Market food blogs. But it was a sore disappointment. It was lacking in flavor and scallops didn't seem all that fresh. It felt a bit gimmicky to me. The bacon wasn't crispy, the scallops lacked flavor, there didn't seem to be any seasoning, and the whole dish was rather oily. This is a dish made for instagramming, but not for eating.

How can one pass up 3 plump nuggets of red and white diver scallops made to order on the griddle? Served on a bed of stir fry Asian veggies, your $6 pounds goes far here.

Their scallops over veggies with bacon was the best thing I had at Borough Market hands down. I'd never had scallops with the roe still attached, but it really a treat because it tastes amazing. I was crushed though that I didn't get seconds because I realized later that they're only at the market Thursday to Saturday. It's £5 for 3 scallops which is a pretty good deal when you consider how fresh the product is.They also had fresh oysters for £1.50 each. I saw people snapping up plates of the stuff, but I didn't get a chance to try for myself.
Be the first to ReplyBest freaking scallop I've ever had in my life.
Why? They're huge, hand caught the day before, and covered in bacon. And they're cooked the ideal way, seared perfectly over the grill. Need I say more? A must try if you're in Borough Market!

Most people will know Shell Seekers best from Borough Market as the stall that cooks scallops to order and serves them in shells with pancetta. It is quite possibly the best fast food I've ever had and by far my favourite market snack. However, cross the stall to the raw fish side and Shell Seekers tells a whole new story.Shell Seekers primarily stocks scallops, crabs and squid although there is always a good selection of fish and a couple of lobsters to be had. Scallops are sold shell off, half shell or shell on. Being a girl that doesn't mind getting her hands dirty I always buy them shell on and make a small mission of cleaning them up when I get home. The shell on scallops are some of the freshest I've ever seen and they're likely to snap on your finger if you're not careful with them. The squid here is also great and the staff are always very helpful about cleaning it up and trimming it for me. The boys here are very proud of their stock and always looking to have a bit of banter. I was terrified when one of them pretended to throw a live lobster at me, its claws snapping away. Prices may be a little steep for some but they reflect the fact that this is hand caught seafood and the best quality around.I love this stall! It's a must visit for anyone looking for on the spot delicious fast food or some really great fish to take away. Delicious!
