Restaurant smelled horrible and atrocious service
My wife tried to take me there for a quick drink and sundae for my birthday. She made a reservation prior to going. First the restaurant smelled like rotting fish. It made us both want to vomit. We were seated at a table and ordered a drink and a sundae. We were brought our drinks and then told we could not sit where they sat us, because we were only getting dessert. They then moved us to another table closer to the entry. They brought us our sundae and then immediately gave us our bill, before I had a chance to finish the sundae. Not worth going and we were both very insulted.

I come here every Sunday for breakfast and keep returning for one thing: THE SERVICE! Angel, Pedro and Barbara are the highlight of each of my visits, their attention to detail and dedication to service are the best I've ever experienced. I have never left here feeling anything less than overjoyed and it is all due to the staff. The breakfast itself is always great and the highest quality. If you have one morning in LA come to Tower Bar, it will remind you why you love Los Angeles and what great service really means.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the worse experiences ever....try someplace else!
I am sooo disappointed with my experience at the Tower Bar. One of the worse experiences ever. Like other reviewers have said, it's unfortunate because this place could be (and has been in the past) so much more. Sunset Tower strives to be in the same league as other LA landmark hotels, but unfortunately it has fallen way short due to one reason; Leadership. Everyone from the GM (Troy); to the food and beverage director (Jenifer) to the hostess (Ashley) were unprofessional, rude and unequipped to live up too the expectation one would have of a 5-star experience. Unfortunately what was once an iconic destination for great food and ambiance has become a place to avoid because of its horrendous leadership that has infected employees throughout the ranks giving them license to be arrogant, rude and unprofessional.

This is a great place to have dinner and cocktails. We went for my daughters 21st birthday. From the appetizers to the main course all the food was great. A nice touch was the veggies and dip that starts the meal.
Loved the menu options and we enjoyed the stuffed mushroom, calamari, and chicken pot pie. All were very good!
What else would you want
Our service was excellent, bartenders always friendly and quick to please. If you're feeling a little wild try a "Singapore Sling" very boozy very high alcohol level

Went into the bar for drinks , decide to check a few things on my phone when shortly after the curtain was closed in front of my face , didn’t finish my drink as it wasn’t in my plans to spend my afternoon looking at a brown curtain! When I was leaving I asked the rude waitress/host why she did this ? Her response was they do not allow phones as you may be taking photos or recording, I wasn’t ! But my assumption was the male sitting in my eye line was trying to stay out of the limelight .......... on this rare occasion!!!!!
But he himself was speaking loudly .......ON HIS PHONE???? Who are then these rules for ? I was made to feel belittled & charged for it , note to the host “ excuse me , would you mind putting you phone away , we have a policy , I would hate to close this curtain on you both “ perhaps I didn’t tip as much as him , but everyone should be treated the same & being polite is always an option, even in tinsletown !
Make a mean cocktail
Frequently pop in for a cocktail or two while we are in town... bartenders are always on point, as are their cocktails (which run $20-$30). The place is luxe and the guests are well heeled... its not unusual to see a celebrity or two rubbing elbows with other titans from the entertainment industry. The dining room is one of the coziest in the city... always a fire lit, lights darkened, pianist playing, and cameras banned because of their high profile clientele. You can't go wrong if you're looking to experience on of LA's classics.

I stopped in one hight for a nightcap and was very impressed with the service. The room is quite nice and the list is very good. I recommend this place!
Be the first to ReplyWhat a joke! Jazz Brunch without the Jazz. Worst Brunch ever!
My wife and I took her mother and sister to the Tower Bar for their Sunday Jazz Brunch. It was horrible. First of all their was no jazz combo. Just two sleepy guys playing guitars out by the pool. You could not see them nor hear them. In fact, they were playing piped-in music in the restaurant.
They charged $65 for brunch which might have made sense if there was actually entertainment but there was not. Calling the food mediocre would be a compliment. I won't waste your time describing it.
The service was awful. There was a lot of staff but they spent most of their time talking to each other. They did not check that we had cutlery for instance. We did not. They forgot to bring the whipped cream that went with the pancakes.
Jazz brunch
I never write reviews, but this place was amazing and worth taking the time to write a review. We went for the Sunday jazz brunch. We were lucky enough to have Angel as our server. He was incredible and really made the experience go from amazing to out of this world. We asked him for recommendations and his were spot on. We loved everything. The lobster tacos, breakfast burrito, and pancakes were all phenomenal. The service was stellar. Overall, the experience was great. I will be back and I will always ask for Angel if he is there. Thanks again for a great experience.
Be the first to ReplyBest moment ever
So a great make up moment where James Atwood made good on a previous experience that left for wanting. Not only was the bar staff amazing but so was the food. The Tower Bar went back to living up to expectation as a great place to hang and have a great moment.
