Love the vibe here it's sooo classy and chill.
Lots of celebs here so excited to see them when I go! The food is good too!

I felt sooo cool having a glass of champs and listening to live music on a Saturday evening at Tower Bar. It's an amazing bar for people watching and a quintessential Hollywood experience. The jazz was fantastic and the perfect compliment to the dark and swanky vibes. Do yourself a favor and pop in for a drink if you are in town. You surely won't regret it.

Limited menu, but what they have is great and they accommodate the typical LA diet restrictions. Great ambiance, service and drinks. I would take clients there again.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance is really romantic and mysterious.
It's definitely a vibe. The drinks were really nice, I had espresso martinis. I found that the server was rushing us though, she came up to us numerous times. We were seated at 9:15 and had basically finished by 10pm. The food is average.
Be the first to ReplyOn the hunt for the city's best Dirty Martini so of course
On the hunt for the city's best Dirty Martini so of course I need to visit the storied Tower Bar. If this rating is for just the Martini, then it's a 7/10 compared to the rest of the city's offerings. We came for dinner. I read through the reviews and thought for sure it's just a singular experience for some of the negative ones. However, they were 100% correct - the prices are deranged for the quality of food. My total was $350 and I would've had an incredible experience at Bavel or frankly any other place in the city. Folks say you're paying for ambiance but I don't know what ambiance I'm paying for when it feels like I'm in a dark closet (and I'm no stranger to darker dining rooms), not sure what vegetable I'm ingesting. It was mind boggling what Tower Bar can get away with - and get away with it they did. It's still packed so absolutely recommend a reservation if you too want to try to get fleeced.
Be the first to ReplyFor all the hype and prices charged, I was disappointed in
For all the hype and prices charged, I was disappointed in a few areas. This was not my first or second time dining here, and have seen a decline in service over the past years. We were seated and from the beginning I felt rushed. When we didn't order cocktails right away, but sparkling water, our waiter took the wine list before we had a chance to open it. We first order sliders for the table which were delicious although I think they could have 4 rather then 3 small burger bites as there were 2 of us. The pork chop was delicious as were the fingerling potatoes, the spinach could have been presented on the plate with more attention then just a glop. The burger was good but not stellar as the price would indicate, a bit too greasy. The desert was excellent, it was the special of the night, a butter cake topped with ice cream , berries and whipped cream. When you go to such a highly rated restaurant you have certain expectations, I would have expected my sparking water to be filled for me which happened only once throughout the meal, again the service was not what it once was. We were seated in the Terrace dining room which was beautiful and well lit, it did get very noisy after some time.

Beautiful, relaxing and magnificent! Loved stopping here for lunch and cocktails while in West Hollywood.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance is great in the main room.
Jazz musicians are so talented. Bartenders are kind. Cocktails are great. I've been coming here for years and really enjoy the service during the day and for brunch. More recently, I've been coming here in the evening for a change of scenery. My rating is low because the evening service is really bad. The hosts made my guest and me feel uncomfortable. When we made our reservation days prior, we were in the restaurant and checked with a hostess if we could return another evening and request the nook in the window for two. The hostess explained they can't guarantee it but she'd put it in the notes. Prior to the reservation, I received a phone call to confirm my arrival which I used as another opportunity to see if it was still noted. The person on the phone said the same thing, can't guarantee it. So when I arrived, I didn't have the expectation that the area would be free because they warned me it wasn't guaranteed. I've been a hostess in BH and NYC, I'm familiar with the protocol. However, when we arrived the requested seat was open so I went back to the original hostess to request the area and the male hostess insisted he handle it on my behalf. I explained to him my notes requested this area but he later insisted it wasn't free. He then makes it a point to let me know it's saved for a "special reservation". Point is...we were treated as 2nd grade customers for whatever reason (even though I lived next door for years and frequent during the day). We're told that we can't make "special reservations" to then be told that the seat we wanted is taken by a "special reservation". It made us feel unwelcome. To the point, that my guest and I decided to only have one drink and some truffle fries then hit the road. As if it wasn't enough we were sat facing a wall (literally one seat faces a column then the other wall) so you can't enjoy the ambiance...our server makes it a point to let us know that these tables are typically for people eating dinner only. We knew that. We wanted to enjoy our steak and wine in a nook and quite frankly wanted to leave. Eventually we left, and of course, no one ever sat at the table we requested. It was empty when we left.

(This 4 star rating is a gift to this place, probably because I am in a holiday mood. I am going to unpack my Thanksgiving experience there, below. This will take nuance and finesse because there is a lot to consider in giving them my rating. I will be generous but honest, because I want people who read my reviews to feel they are equipped to make the decision to go, or not, accurately.) We have friends who know the area quite well and have exacting standards of their own and I trust their having selected the Tower Bar for a festive Thanksgiving out. Their experiences there may differ from mine, one reason for which is the fact that I am a vegetarian lifer and expect certain things from a meal. Ambience: no question, clubby, intimate, sophisticated. If you sit near a window at sunset and thereafter, you will have a spectacular view of all of Los Angeles laid out in its celebrated glitter. However, it was so dark that, had I not already studied the menu and made my selections a priori, I would have been unable to see anything on that sheet. Since one is discouraged from breaking out a phone, I could not use my phone light. The one candle on the table was insufficient to illuminate the faint writing on that menu. They have to find a way to raise the lighting. Are they worried that a high profile figure will be outed? Any staffer could quash inappropriate star-stricken behavior. They don't need to shroud those celebs to keep them from those of us who dropped a bundle to be there, more on that below. Service: friendly, professional, not too warm or fuzzy (OK, no need for cosseting me), responsive and gracious. Good, it should be like that at an elevated venue like this. Swift valet parking, greeters immediately, all smiling -- great! Food: Ah! Here is a sticky wicket. I barely saw the bread basket that came -- the one tiny piece of baguette I had was not fresh, unremarkable, not home-made, in my opinion. Each member of our party ordered something different. Among the dishes were a turkey dinner, a steak combo with fries, Branzino with Brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes, and a vegan vegetable and quinoa "entree". I didn't hear anyone enconomiumizing any of it. In fact, one person rightly pointed out that the frying oil being canola is a no-no. It is a throwback to earlier times when people paid little attention to heart health, among other things. Let's talk about my selections. There was a prix fixe set menu for Thanksgiving dinner. There were only two items I could have from the main dish list: a vegan burger with potatoes or a vegetable mix. I chose the latter. It was composed of lightly cooked carrots, string beans, tomatoes and a dark version of quinoa. The three vegetables would have been lovely as a side dish. The quinoa -- aka the protein part of this plate -- was taste-free. Knowing that it might be like this, I had already had the deviled egg appetizer that consisted of three eggs, halved, the yolk having been seasoned and creamed. They were very good, as deviling goes. There was an acceptable, but not special pumpkin pie for dessert (as well as a chocolate lava-type choice or cookies, the latter being strange for this kind of experience, imho). I want to tell the chef something: vegans and especially vegetarians to do not dine on rabbit food. This was clearly the limit of whoever designed this menu's understanding of non-meat fare. I have been completely meatless for four decades and I assure you, the last time I had quasi-raw vegetables as my main dish had to be forty years ago at my dad's country club. Either this is ignorance or unmindfulness, as there is vast and deep information available on how to construct a nutritious and delicious vegan or vegetarian entree, in 2023. This entire episode may have something to do with the special holiday menu, or dinner, or some other factor of which I am unaware, but it was disappointing to put it mildly. Since we were with excellent company, the meal was lighthearted, lively, enjoyable and successful. Tower Bar is a pretty place with pretty people. But, for $250 pp, I expected more. It is easily remediable. Let's recap: * raise the lighting a degree or two so people can appreciate their party, the menu, and the lovely decor * do a little research and learn what vegans and vegetarians actually eat regularly. I could write an encylopedic treatise on this subject and I am not a chef! I am a boomer and even I know that, much less the generations that follow who are quite hip to this dietary regimen *switch to olive oil *raise the quality of the bread *don't offer cookies at any holiday meal -- certainly not as the paid dessert, put them in a little box as a courtesy, especially at these prices -- how about pecan or walnut pie instead? Would I return? Yes, during the afternoon. I want to give Tower Bar another chance that it apparently deserves based on other reviews that are far more complimentary.
Be the first to ReplyRaised prices by almost 100% a burger was 28 now it's 45.
Could spend that money on all you can eat sushi or steakhouse. Disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyThe staff and ambiance makes the Sunset Tower Hotel & Tower
The staff and ambiance makes the Sunset Tower Hotel & Tower Bar one of my favorite places to eat and relax in Los Angeles. Angel, one of the lovely servers, always makes us feel at home & provides excellent service. Thank you Angel, Barbara, and the rest of the staff for being so lovely and being the reason I'll always return!!

This restaurant has the old Hollywood charm, beautiful ambiance and delicious food. We were a party of four and had a great time, also on Wednesday night it was live jazz, highly recommend.

This is my go to place when I'm back in town in LA! I love to have brunch and coffee here with friends. The staff are very polite and professional, and I've never had bad service. They really live up to the high standards of the Sunset Tower Hotel standards! The food is always good here. I've orders the eggs Benedict, savory breakfast, pancakes, waffles, French toast etc in the past and they have all been delicious! The view and the decor is nice and it's an iconic place to eat and enjoy your time with friends. I love this place!
Be the first to ReplyI'm a little delayed in my Sunset Tower Bar review, and
I'm a little delayed in my Sunset Tower Bar review, and it's due to the fact that while it was good, it just wasn't great enough for me to make a priority. This most recent visit, I had been here for lunch, choosing my typical seat at the bar. Hostess was very nice, letting me sit anywhere as she provided the menu. Bartender was a nice younger guy who was semi-attentive throughout the meal. I was trying to narrow my choices down, finally going with the classic club sandwich-minus the egg-with fries. What first annoyed me was a lady sitting in an area in the corner closest to me, alone, and I heard her go through three (LOUD) different phone calls. Although I know how to read and know that photography/calls are supposedly looked down upon, she didn't care, and sadly, neither did the staff as I saw a couple of employees in suits walk by her without acknowledging this. I guess 'the rules' they had originally set up are now out of date? Regardless, I moved my seat down the other end of the bar since I could, and I guess I was thankful that this annoying woman had two guests finally show up so she could get off her phone and talk in a normal tone. As for the food, it came out within 15 minutes, and to be honest, I expected the Tower Bar to have an excellent club sandwich, but this didn't reach those expectations. The bacon could have been cooked a little more, while the chicken (little that was actually on the sandwich) was cool to lukewarm. The tomato and avocado was fine, while the dijon aioli was a little overwhelming. Fries-I went with the regular and not truffle-were okay; this was something I was able to finish off. The only dessert offered during this time is the cookies: chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin. I went with the former and this was nice and warm from what I assume was straight from the oven. I'd say this was actually worth the $4.Service overall was polite, slightly lacking as when I went to look for him a couple of times, he was nowhere to be found. Although we were solo at the bar, I suppose he had to attend to the surrounding area which is understandable, and he appeared to be working alone as well. When I did have his attention he was nice and got everything correct I requested. Hostess was very kind as well, giving me specific names of people to reach out to in case I wanted to make a future reservation. Although this visit wasn't the best food-wise, I would be willing to try the Tower Bar once again, but will definitely order something else that I was considering this time around (bread basket+salad, maybe give in to their burger, etc.). I also want to try their sundae, so I suppose I would have to come during dinner, which I hear is much busier.
Be the first to ReplyCame here with friends to celebrate a VERY special occasion.
Everything was amazing, the food, champagne, service, vibe. Love it!
Be the first to ReplyMy wife tried to take me there for a quick drink and sundae
My wife tried to take me there for a quick drink and sundae for my birthday. She made a reservation prior to going. First the restaurant smelled like rotting fish. It made us both want to vomit. We were seated at a table and ordered a drink and a sundae. We were brought our drinks and then told we could not sit where they sat us, because we were only getting dessert. They then moved us to another table closer to the entry. They brought us our sundae and then immediately gave us our bill, before I had a chance to finish the sundae. We were very insulted and have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyI have been a long time customer of both the Sunset Tower
I have been a long time customer of both the Sunset Tower Hotel and Tower Bar. I can not say enough about the quality of the overall service. The Tower Bar is one of my favorite places to enjoy an afternoon for a few drinks and food. One of the longtime servers there, Angel , goes over above to make me feel right at home. This will always be my go-to place in LA!
Be the first to ReplyI loved the vibes of this place.
It reminded me of polo lounge with the wood paneling and the live music. The appetizers and main courses all in all were just ok, and I would say that you're paying for the ambiance and the view. However, my partner and I were both extremely disappointed with the dessert. We shared the molten chocolate cake (18$) and it simply was not good because1) it's the size of a cupcake and 2) it is not made to order A normal molten chocolate cake is usually made to order bc it's basically a soufflé. When our cake came lukewarm two minutes after we ordered, we sent it back and asked for one made to order because this one was clearly sitting out for a long time prior to being served. The second one that they brought out was just a new one that they microwaved and told us was fresh. For being a high end restaurant, idk I guess I just expected fresh and unmicrowaved food

This is my go to place for everything from a fun family lunch/diner, a romantic time with my partner to a fun casual brunch. The food never disappoints and the service is always on point. Angel is spectacular. He always delivers that next level service you expect for this level of establishment.

Awful service, was asked to leave if we weren't buying any food. My friends and I made a reservation for 6 pm to get drinks and then go elsewhere. We all bought drinks and were told it's mandatory to buy food.
Be the first to ReplyWhat happened to the Tower Bar? This place was at one time
What happened to the Tower Bar? This place was at one time very good but it has "jumped the shark". It has declined rapidly. If you like extremely overpriced bad food, apathetic management, expensive parking, stale bread and cold lava cake, this place is for you. Seriously, this place has a cool vibe and a great history and something has happened where it is declined rapidly and we don't know why but so long. On to new places
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service and the brunch was delicious.
The manager was wonderful and made us feel at home. The sun was too much on one seat so not only did they find a solution, when the adjacent table opened up, the manager quickly moved us over. I really appreciated their great service. The food was also excellent. My mom said the cobb salad was amongst the best she has had. The drinks were also generous and great. Will be returning!
Be the first to ReplyWho reviews scrambled eggs? Well.
.. when they are as memorably delicious as at the Tower Bar, I do! My other favorite eggs are from years ago in Sydney AU... and I eat a lot of eggs. A beautiful dark golden yellow, cooked to the perfect doneness so the egg is redolant. Amazing. And the chocolate chip pancakes were likewise aromatic and fluffy. Dinner was such fun too! Chef Chase and team's fried calamari was perfection crispy and savory, and we ate up the seared scallops. Jacob, our waiter, was lovely and so welcoming. Only wished I had room for the sundae menu; was a tad confused when a pencil was delivered w the menu, but on scrutiny I understood (see pic!). Can't wait to come back... Sunset Towers is a lovely step back in time with some of the best service in awhile.

Fantastic! stopped by for a drink on Thursday 8/4 and stayed for the fantastic music, the live music duo, pianist and bassist were an unexpected treat that created a fabulous old Hollywood vibe.
Be the first to ReplyI've been to great restaurants all over the world.
For the most part, I've had a diverse menu with courteous staff. Tonight, I made a reservation here for 745 pm, specifically asking to sit outside at the patio since 2 of my guests have very elderly parents and wished to reduce the chance of COVID infection. I was assured that our request would be honored. Yet, our hostess informed us that the table would be free shortly, but we weren't offered a table until 830 inside the restaurant not outside. The pompous manager David, maintained that the staff never should promise an outdoor table, and never did. My table consisted of all highly educated men who can easily hear, and process English. We knew what was promised, and the denial of our request incensed us. David was a condescending prick who had no business seating other people outside when tables opened up. We witnessed several other parties seated right after we very reluctantly sat inside in the overly dark room. Why were we discriminated against?I will add that although our servers were very fine, the food quality was average, and in no way justified the grossly excessive charges for it.In summary, if you wish to go to a substantially overpriced place with average food and a condescending pompous prick as a manager, this is your place.
