Wonderfully creative and meticulously executed, the tasting
Wonderfully creative and meticulously executed, the tasting menu is a delight. You'll discover a new and intensely flavorful approach to Indian cuisine. The staff is gracious and welcoming. Chef Thevar earns his two Michelin stars, and then some.

Had the best experience at Thevar with my husband, sister, and brother-in-law. We love Indian food, and we thought we knew Indian food, but we were NOT prepared for what Thevar had in store for us. Course after course, Chef Mano continues to surprise us and leave our tastebuds tantalizing. We could see and taste the innovation that flowed into each dish. It was not just Indian cuisine executed with French techniques. Thevar's tasting menu was FUN. Every single dish was well prepared and delicious, which is not something I can say for some Michelin starred restaurants. At one point, my sister left the table to use the restroom. We saw Chef Mano take note of her absence and waited to serve our next course until she returned. The chef himself later stopped by our table and chatted with us. It was nice to get to know Chef Mano a little. He was super down to earth and very humble! I would love to come back to Thevar the next time I'm in Singapore.

Thevar is Indian foods answer to fine dining and elevated cuisine but it avoids being stuffy and overly formal. The tasting menu is a lovely journey with so many complex flavors that blend seamlessly and in ways I'd have never imagined. Hats off to the chef for creativity and well curated dishes. It's great that they're vegetarian friendly as well. My only qualm was the wait staff, they came off as a bit standoff-ish. They provided recommendations for what kind of drinks we should order as we progressed through the tasting but when we decided to have drinks not per their recommendation, they kept pushing to follow their recommendations. Like, I appreciate the advice but please don't be overbearing. It just wasn't as refined as I'd experienced at other 2 Michelin star restaurants. Don't let that stop you from going though, Thevar is a culinary journey you don't want to miss!

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a world class experience, thanks for a suggestion from fellow Yelper Nik T.!Made a reservation online with a credit card to hold my spot. Received a note a few days prior inquiring on food allergies. Thevar has 2 dining sessions, an early 5:30 pm or a later 8 pm ish or so slot. There were only 4 groups during my visit during the week.Upon arrival, was presented with a counter spot overlooking the open kitchen. The line cooks seemed to be mainly Gen Z/Millenial Chinese in full uniform, masks covering their mouth and nose. Some even wore latex gloves when working in the kitchen. Front of the house staff along with the chef came by throughout the evening to check in with patrons, explaining each course as well as changing utensils after every course. The food was worthy of the 2 Michelin stars. Every course had a phenomenal contrast in textures and flavors. Since the majority of the courses were merely a bite, this truly showcased the skillset of the kitchen. At the end of the meal, front of the house staff presented a personalized menu to take home as a souvenir. This would have been even better at the beginning of the meal so I could follow along.$354/head after GST & service.

If you're not used to Indian spices the flavors might be too strong but super interesting mix of flavors very yummy and full of surprises
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite Indian fine dining restaurant in Singapore.
Their take on Indian classics and introducing their own twist on it is innovative and more importantly delicious. We started off with the rasam and mango lassi oysters. Absolutely fantastic! Get six and share you won't regret it. Next we tried the chettinad roti.. thought it will be hard to match the oysters but the tenderness and juicyness of the chicken was on point. Next up was the pulled lamb on masala brioche. Again very good but we liked the first two more. Then we tried the tapioca and lentil fritter where the star of the show was the accompanying date sauce. Lastly for mains we shared a tandoori rack of lamb. Again was outstanding up their with the oysters and chettinad chicken. Had to have something sweet to end an excellent experience. You cannot go wrong with their carrot halwa kulfi with a dash of tulsi and coffee mousse. Overall excellent food and apart from a slightly slow start to the service (which i think was because they were overwhelmed by the rush on a Friday evening, plus they apologized multiple times for the same) this has to be one of the few places I'll return back to.

This small but cutting-edge modern Indian restaurant has no peer in the beauty of its flavors, the complexity of its spicing, and the novelty of its ingredient blending. We had the Chef's special which pleased and stretched our taste buds from the opening oyster to the ending trio of desserts.
