Underwhelming
It’s an average experience at best. We didn’t finish half the food as it’s not very good. So if you are going for the food, you’d be disappointed. The view at the 35th floor is great, but you can get similar view without spending 75 pounds per person. The service was also underwhelming, the waiter didn’t seem happy that we didn’t finish the food, and didn’t offer coffee, and I had to ask for it. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend.

Fantastic family meal during a London break. Obviously great views of the city. 5 star service without being too expensive. Amazing food and fantastic staff
Be the first to ReplyAmazing location, let down by service
Having presented an experience voucher at the front desk we were showed to our table, by the window overlooking tower bridge. Amazing view. We were seated and provided the afternoon tea menu. It took around 10 minutes for anyone else to acknowledge us. We were then brought two glasses of champagne and told this was included with the experience and offered water. Now I understand this is a premium location but £8 for water is really taking the mick, especially with 15% service charge added, they didn’t even pour the water for us !! Once the afternoon tea food arrived it was placed on the table, at which point I expected the tea to arrive, but it didn’t, it didn’t arrive for another 40 minutes. We ordered another pot of tea later on, which took around 10 minutes to arrive, after having to ask twice. Once the bill arrived, the waiter tried to explain there had been an issue and we were given champagne when we weren’t supposed to have been. But they charged us for it anyway. Not wanting to cause a fuss and ruin the special experience I settled the additional £35.20 and left. Having reflected back, this didn’t ruin the experience but has left a bitter taste. At over £90 per head, things should be perfect and they just weren’t. Shame really as the place is stunning, the atmosphere relaxing and the view is amazing.

My Wife and I booked a table for my 50th birthday night. Not only is the location incredible - with sweeping views of London from above - but the food and service was five star. Yassin and his colleagues spoilt us rotten with the most attentive service, the food was beyond compare and the sommelier picked the perfect wines to accompany the dishes. The ambiance was spot on, too. Low lighting and wonderful live music in the background added to the experience. It's very expensive, but you get what you pay for. Five stars all round - we'll definitely return!

Had tasting menu with my wife to celebrate a birthday. The only positive was the view. The waiter initially tried to dissuade us from the tasting menu- bizarre. Food came out at best warm due to distance from the kitchen; quality and flavours nothing to write home about considering the price. No standards or dress code being followed at all. Not the experience we thought it would be.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious afternoon tea. Fantastic staff.
The Afternoon tea at Ting is really very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The view was fantastic. London at your feet. And with delicious snacks. It is not a cheap activity, but definitely worth it. We saw quite a few negative reviews on the internet. In our opinion, this is completely unjustified.

Went for an afternoon tea experience today and it was amazing. Top quality sandwiches and pastries. The lovely Carmelita made sure we had everything we needed, even walked us around to find the best spot for photos. Thank you so much

It was a strange one really. Good & bad points but overall i felt the place deserved a four rating. The view speaks for itself. The initial service was a let down but once seated everything came good. Although i thought asking three times if i was enjoying my bread roll was a bit over the top lol. The food was lovely and even though you don’t appear to be getting g much the quality comes through and you are really full. One tremendous thing my wife was served the cod as a main, we commented quietly to ourselves about the portion size the next minute a manager approached and said he would be serving another main to my wife! We said it was ok but he insisted. An example of great customer service! One thing i thought £25 each for a cocktail is a little on the steep side even for an upmarket establishment but hey i’m a Northerner after all 🤷 ♂️
Be the first to ReplyFood was as good as the view
It goes without saying that the view from this restaurant is something special. The food was also an experience, we went for a three course lunch menu with a glass of recommended wine. I am always worried I’ll leave hungry when visiting restaurants in this price class, but this was not the case here. I would highly recommend going here for a romantic lunch.
Be the first to ReplyThe Ting Resturant.
My wife and I met my son and his fiancé for dinner at the Ting restaurant, which is on level 35 of the Shard building. We had a window table that overlooked London Bridge. The setting, the food, the service and the company made for an unforgettable evening. It was faultless.

The best afternoon tea I have ever had and I’ve had a lot. The service was fantastic and great views of London. Very instagramable and beautiful decor. Sara, Alex and Daniel were absolutely fantastic and made our experience better. Thank you and see you soon.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, Great View, even better service.
We had afternoon tea at Ting at the Shangri-La Hotel in February 2023. The views from Shangri-La in the Shard, London will instantly let you know that you are in a special place. You can a large distance in virtually every direction. Even the bathrooms have spectacular views. The choices of teas, and the assortment of scones and sandwiches were very good If there is a better scone out there, I have not found it. What made our trip most memorable, was the service. Alex was friendly, provided great suggestions, and made my entire family feel special. I would feel guilty going back to London and not going back here. Truly special.

Be the first to ReplyFantastic lunch
We visited TĪNG for a 3 course lunch, it was the most amazing experience! All of the staff we encountered at the Shard were so friendly and helpful. Helga our waitress went out of her way to make sure that I was given the right information about the food on the menu as I have coeliac disease and have to eat a gluten free diet. The food was out of this world, so tasty and beautifully presented. We will definitely return again in the future and I thoroughly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic views, shame about the staff and average food for afternoon tea
Had booked the afternoon tea as a special mother and daughter 18th birthday occasion. Stunning views which is what you come here for and not disappointed. At check in downstairs our booking was found quickly and a nice friendly welcome was received. HOWEVER....from the moment we stepped outside the lift and went to the front of house the whole of the experience was tainted by unfriendly staff...particularly at the check-in desk. We were met by an unsmiling/almost belligerent woman who couldn't seem to find our booking and we had to repeat the surname five times before she disappeared and we were left waiting. After a few minutes someone showed us to a table that was right next to a massive pillar blocking all views on one side and a flight of stairs. (The whole point of afternoon tea here was for the views!) We waited for ages unattended until I signalled someone over and asked to change tables, which after a small wait we were transferred to, again by an unsmiling waitress. This was not a good start to a special celebration. Then we were asked about which package we were having and how we were paying at which point this was becoming stressful to the extent that my daughter said 'I think we are annoying them'. If it was left to me I would have walked out but didn't want to spoil her occasion so stayed. Once settled had a French waiter who was attentive so 'take two'! At the end when we went to collect the coats again another front of house staff member left us standing there for 5 minutes whilst she was reading something..no acknowledgment made and no smile or apology afterwards. Maybe we were unlucky that day....but my view is that if you are in the customer service sector then you put aside your own views or boredom and put on a smile and provide what you are being paid for. I expected 'wow' but the afternoon tea failed to deliver. On the positives the teas were delicious and the scones and beetroot liver pate were yummy. However, The sandwiches were extremely average and didn't deliver the fancy tastes promised on the menu. The most disappointing was the cake and pastry selection. No sign of pastries but a completely flavourless slice of carrot cake and another raspberry moussy thing (all looked like they had come from a packet in Sainsburys) and two other bright green and blackcurrant colour moussy tasteless things each on a biscuit. We left them all after one mouthful. The most disappointing afternoon tea food-wise that I have tasted. At £81 per head I expected better than this. The views of course were stunning. If the restaurant replies to this please let the reply be genuine rather than a standardised adapted ' I have to be seen to say something but really don't give a dam as we have plenty of other customers' response. You will be able to judge for yourself reader.

We were given a voucher for a 3 course lunch as a Christmas present. Could not fault anything. We were greeted by a waitress who took us to a window table with fantastic views of the Tower of London, Tower bridge and HMS Belfast etc. She kindly told us what was included in the deal and what would be extra. The extras that we had were a side dish and wine. Both her and the wine waiter were very attentive and found time to chat to us even though the restaurant was quite busy. The waitress even took our cloakroom token and returned our coats to us. Thoroughly recommend this for a special treat. We were very lucky it was a sunny day with clear views for miles.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Afternoon tea at the Ting lounge
Had a wonderful afternoon tea here with my wife. The vibe is very relaxing and the staff is very courteous and prompt. Thanks to Eglantino for best view and personal touch! The only thing is I wish they made a proper masala chai rather than a regular tea with a hint of masala flavouring. Having lived in Nepal and India we were looking forward to masala chai at the Shard.
Be the first to ReplyGreat staff and amazing service
Great staff, amazing service, Alex took care of us with all our wishes, Carolina was very kind and was able to give us a windows seat, Artiola also has been lovely to pack us all our leftovers and wished a lovely evening. Food wise I loved the short rib dish, the pavlova and those brioche buns
Be the first to ReplyMmm not special enough for the cost
I expected wow but it didn’t happen. First course arrived on a tea plate two tiny canapés and two brioche rolls (tiny) with prawn cocktail. Finger sandwiches next on a dinner plate (no garnish) mmmm. Then the pastries and scones and the Shard (which was cool). I’m not used to London prices so £20 for a glass of champagne and £6.50 for bottled water seemed steep. Won’t be rushing back.

We had a really bad first impression, the hostesses were rude and unhelpful especially the blond one with the long lashes. We made the booking with the request of a window table which the person on the phone said will be no problem if there are some free at arrival as it was based on the basis of first come first served. We got there and we could see two free tables by the window however the hostess could not grant us one with no legitimate excuse. She had us sit at a middle table waiting until she went back and forth to confirm with the other rude hostess as she could not make any decisions without consulting her which wasted our time. We were then asked to wait few minutes for them to clear one of those tables. We sat waiting and then the hostess with he dark hair came along and said that the table was ready so we stood up to follow her, however she ended up taking us to a complete different side of the restaurant where the view was literally crappy as you could neither see the river thames nor tower bridge. I explained that she had given misleading information because the free tables I was pointing at were not where she's taken us. She then said we could wait again ( wasting our time and energy again) while she goes and checks with the other hostess. At that point I ran out of patience so I went to speak to her directly and she was extremely rude, interrupting me while I was talking and just citing a script about how those tables are saved for people who are residing at the hotel. This was new information as it is not stated anywhere on their website nor on their social media platform and nor was it communicated from he start point. She then said it was not her who communicated to us on the phone, running away from responsibilities and not assuming that they should be working as a team. This had ruined our afternoon tea as we were super excited to go and considering how fancy and pricy the place was we though the hostesses would match to the value paid. However it was not the case.

We went to Ting for a special mother / daughter afternoon tea (plus champagne!) to celebrate our visit to London in style. Ting is in a great location with gorgeous views but it is the people that really elevate the experience and set it apart. Nathaniel and Emilio ensured we had a wonderful experience with their attention to detail and service with a smile. We will definitely return - highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyHygiene issues with ting restaurant both dinner and breakfast
We stayed for 1 night at the hotel to celebrate a special birthday. We ate at Ting for dinner. It had amazing views and the hosts extremely friendly and professional. However there were some issues. Firstly as we were seated there was food on the floor which they hadn't cleaned from previous dinner. Secondly, they had forgotten my husbands starter. So, we ate first as my husband had to wait. To my disgust after eating 2 oysters I found a short dark hair in my starter. The supervisor arrived to apologise and she was very professional. She had deducted the automatic service charge 12.5 % off our bill. Which I would refuse to pay anyway due to finding hair in my food. Our evening meal cost approximately £350 for 3. The meal was uncomfortable as I was checking for hairs in the main course. My worst nightmare is to find someone else's hair in my food. Unfortunately, at our breakfast the next day at Ting we had the buffet and found plastic in the food. The floor manager was apologetic and kind. By this point I had refused complimentary drink and 25% off my next meal- as I felt unable to trust the hygiene level of food supplied. I explained that either we were very unlucky that both our meals at Ting the Shard contained foreign objects ie hair and plastic there is a environmental health issue at the shard. We paid £1750 for 1 night stay and 2 meals. There is a hygiene problem - it is not worth the money. I feel sick at the thought of our time at the shangra la London.

We booked a table for lunch to celebrate our daughter's 15th birthday at 2:15pm. The table was not ready for us, so we were sent away to wait. It was a warm day, and we were all very thirsty after travelling across London and it would have been nice to have been offered a drink while we wait, but this was not forthcoming. After 10 minutes of waiting, my husband asked for a glass of water each. At 2:45pm, we were told that the table was ready and our water would be brought to the table. It took another 10 minutes for our water to arrive. When our server arrived to take our order, she assumed that we were there for afternoon tea, despite our booking being specifically for lunch. We were told that we could not order from the A la Carte lunch menu, as it finished at 2:30pm. Remember we had arrived on time for our 2:15pm booking and should have been allowed to order from that menu. We had no choice but to order from the Light Dining menu which had only one plant-based option when I had been looking forward to selecting an option from the plant based menu I'd already seen online. We had also booked tickets for the Top of the Shard at 4:15pm, but the delays we had experienced through no fault of our own, meant that we had to rush our lunch and hurry on to our next booking. In hindsight, I wish we had walked out when we were told that the A la Carte menu was no longer available. My daughter was also left disappointed as was expecting a birthday treat as promised when we made the booking. Needless to say, this did not happen. Altogether a very disappointing experience - a stunning view does not make up for sub-par service and unapologetic treatment of guests.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful view but disappointing service.
Went for teatime with friends. The view is fantastic and the setting very nice. Tea, sandwiches and cakes were good but not exceptional- which you should be expecting for 75£ per head. The service however was very disappointing. We had to wait for more than 45 minutes when there was a change of staff and had my o complain twice. For a five star hotel this was inadequate.
