Tonyโs for the win! My NYC go to!!!
This place never disappoints!!! I just love Tonyโs Di Napoli. From the moment you walk and in and see Ciro, you know you are in great hands. He is so friendly and makes you feel like family. My friend and I just came in from seeing โBack to the Future The Musicalโ and came to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious, our waiter Kush served us with kindness and was a professional, great waiter. The nice lady took our picture so I had a memento from my special birthday dinner. I canโt say enough good things about this restaurant, except for go!!! You will not be disappointed. Tonyโs is my go to and I canโt wait to come back. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic great city Italian
Really authentic Italian. Singing waiters with a big menu. Family dining so huge portions so better with a larger party as wasted food for two . Really good tasting food in lovely setting with years of history . I would go back
Be the first to ReplyMassive food and atmosphere!
Fantastic service, great value, real vibes! Great food and atmosphere. The portions are huge - when the say "all plates are made for sharing" - believe them! ๐๐๐๐๐
Be the first to ReplyNice warm family feel
This place gives you that warm Italian family feel. The dishes are large and serves 2 to 3 people and the deserts were really good. A great way to spend a birthday meal in NYC. It appears to be having some redecoration work currently, but this didn't affect our visit. Our waitress was also really friendly.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Gluten Free Pasta
We visited here on the recommendation of friends and it was delicious just wished they had warned us about the portion sizes! Would highly recommend reserving a table ahead of time as the restaurant was very busy when we were there creating a lively atmosphere. Although the restaurant was busy staff were attentive and never rushed us at all. Gluten free pasta was easily available and staff were knowledgeable regarding sauce pairings. We never opted for starters and upon seeing the size of the entree portions were so relieved! My husband and I ordered separate dishes busy easily could have shared!

Vodka sauce is beyond wonderful. Blows the competition out of the water. Chicken piccata was great as was the service. Wine pours were very generous. Got the house Chianti was exceptional. Only downside is that all the dishes are family style so count on mammoth servings. We we unable to order half servings which would have left us both stuffed as it was. Come back every time we ate in town and will continue to do so.
Be the first to Replybest meatballs ever !
My partner had been before on his last trip to New York but it was my first time and I was so impressed! Definitely book as the place was super busy - we booked for 7:30pm on a Thursday and the restaurant was full. We had a lovely waiter who was really helpful and attentive. We shared the Spaghetti & Meatballs as my partner had had this last time and Iโm so glad we chose this as it was unbelievable!! The portion size was great for 2 and we actually had to take some home between us as we were so full. I would love to return as I donโt think we had the full experience as we were both super tired after our first day in the city, so would love to come back and experience it properly!
Be the first to ReplyTonyโs will not disappoint if you crave some quality Italian cuisine. Delicious!
When you go to NYC, thereโs plenty of great Italian food to eat and many places to choose from. This visit we chose Tonyโs for my daughterโs 18th bday and we were not disappointed. This was our first visit here and we all loved it,โฆ.especially the bday girl. We had to wait a bit for a table but it was worth it. The service and the food were outstanding and we all agreed it was a place we would recommend to others. Be prepared to have family style portions and to spend a few bucks, but if you want quality Italian food and a great dining experience, then this is a place to consider for sure. And the dessert was equally as impressive. Itโs also very easy to get to while you are walking around Times Square.
Be the first to ReplyTony's Di Napoli is better that Carmine's
The restaurant accommodated 18 people comfortably but service was mediocre. We had to keep asking for water refills or bread. The ravioli and fried calamari were delicious but the veal marsala was overcooked thereby too tough. The portion sizes are decent for the entrees but for the price of the appetizers the portion sizes were small. The strawberry ice cream shortcake is a must try.
Be the first to ReplyFamily night Italian style
We had an amazing time here. We were a group of 8 and had a mix of kids and adults. Yes, the place was crowded. Definitely get reservations. The service was attentive where we didnโt feel rushed. We had the flounder and they were also able to accommodate the kids preferences for buttered noddles. We got the mousse and the brownie sundae to share. The waiter brought over extra cherries for the sundae because the kids started fighting for the 1. It was also a nice touch with a professional photograph. We liked the pictures so much, we bought 4. Overall, it was a nice night to remember.
Be the first to ReplyGood italian food to share
You certainly can't go wrong with this restaurant for some great italian food. It's a little pricey, but so is everything close to Times Square. We ate at several Italian spots in NYC, and this one was very good. I will say to also try some of the smaller "hole in the wall" places that are off the beaten path. Less expensive and great food. Tony's is a bit more formal. Platters are enough for 2 people to eat. We discussed two different dishes with our server, but only ordered one. We we served with both. We kept them both and made the best of it even though it was way too much for us to eat. Not really complaining. Definitely try this place if you're in the area.
Be the first to ReplyYummy Birthday Dinner!
The most delicious meal we had in NYC was here at Tony's! We got the chicken parm and spaghetti and meat balls. Don't forget that the portions are made to feed 2 people! It was my birthday and they added a candle to our cannoli order! Make a reservation ahead of time as it is very busy. The waiter was awesome and very attentive!
Be the first to ReplyGo to Carmines instead
Food was ok but the definitely NOT the service. Bob โthe big shotโ was more concerned about the blond at the table next to us that we felt totally ignored. And to top it off, he gave us the WRONG bill for almost $200 when ours was only $85!! Bob โthe big shotโ was so enamored with the blonde that he forgot all of his manners. Go to Carmines instead.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Meal-Service-Experience
Food was outstanding. Pasta and chicken melted in your mouth. Our waiter (Gregory) was so attentive explaining every detail of the food we ordered so we did not over order. Our water glasses were never empty. We did order the daily pasta special. Gregory came over to our table very apologetic advising us they had just run out of this special. He gave us suggestions for an alternative dish that was delicious. The floor manager came over and he apologized as well for them running out of the special. When our meal was finished we were thinking about dessert. The manager came over and said he wanted to do something for us since they ran out of the special. He came back with a plate of cannoli and tiramisu. Absolutely over the top and completely unexpected. We will never forget this meal.
Be the first to ReplySuch a disappointment
i wanted a restaurant not to far from the Minskoff Theater. I heard many great things but this was by far the worst meal i have ever had in NYC. My sons ordered the spaghetti with meatballs and the linguine with clam sauce. The spaghetti was over cooked the meatball was cold and was definitely not home made. Really it tasted terrible. The Linguini with clam sauce also cold and had no taste. I can say the only thing we all enjoyed was the calamari appetizer. This was by far the biggest waste of $$$$. Also our waiter never gave us a special menu so we did not choose off the special menu. A big disappointment. Also I wish they would have told us we would be seated in the basement when i made the reservation 2 days ahead maybe i would have chosen a different restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyA little piece of Italy in Times Square
Wow, this place is a piece of Italy in Time Square! The hustle and bustle, traditional Italian restaurant experience is here. Based on a recommendation from a NYC yellow cabbie, we wanted a decent Italian whilst visiting the city. We were not disappointed! The food is great, the service equally as good and at a fair price, whatโs not to like! The portion sizes are huge - but they do warn you and suggest and encourage you to share! But itโs such good food ! Would definitely recommend and return to in the future!
Be the first to ReplyAs good as years ago
We visited here as I had been here 10+ years previously and really enjoyed it. The portions are huge and you really do not need to order much to have a good meal. We had the baked ziti, fresh salad, and a bottle of wine and took food home. The service, food quality and prices for what you get are brilliant and would definitely return again if ever back in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Italian food find an ocean of fast food
We had been trying to find a decent restaurant around the touristy areas in the city but all we could find were fast food places. We REALLY wanted Italian food and came across Tonyโs by chance. What wonderful kismet - it was exactly what weโd been looking for. Food was excellent and staff were friendly and not at all pushy. The โfamily styleโ serving (we had ravioli bolognese) was perfect for me and my best friend to share (with a bit left over as we were both stuffed.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food and service
Visited with family. Fantastic food. All the staff were friendly. Would recommend for any age. Portions are huge but great quality
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dinner with friends
Conveniently located to Times Square and theaters. Hopping on a Friday night. (Make a reservation.) Excellent service. Huge portions. Delicious family-style Italian. Only drawback is that it's quite loud. We ere a group of 4 and people kept missing parts of the conversation.
Be the first to ReplyGood Italian in Times Square
Good place for lunch or post show dinner. Food is really good, only complaint is lots of meals don't come with pasta. Had the veal piccata Tasty and the pasta that came with it was good. Would definitely recommend
Be the first to ReplyIf you love Italian food,,,,,, go,,,, itโs a must.
This restaurant is fantastic, the food is amazing, they have a great wine list, and the service is superb. The food is served in large portions, so only order 1 pasta dish,, as this will be plenty for 2. We went 3 times, while in New York for a week.
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere
Found this venue on line and thought letโs give it a try
7.30pm and the restaurant was busy and had a good atmosphere, seated quite quickly, waiter very helpful in explaining the menu, please be aware as the food is a big portion and for sharing, nothing special just tasty Italian food and friendly service
Uh Oh... Beware of SHRINKFLATION!!!
After visiting this fabulous restaurant for over 2 1/2 decades, we actually sent food back twice... And it was our favorite dish - the Chicken Parm! Tasty, yes, because of their incredible signature sauce. But, literally paper thin.
We sent the dish back the first time assuming that there must have been an error. We made sure to let our wonderful waitress know that the reason we were sending it back was because the chicken cutlets were so thin. We used our fingers to describe the thickness of the chicken cutlets that we have become accustomed to having and actually enjoyed on our visit there last month.
The second plate was exactly the same. I honestly don't understand why restaurants these days think that covering food up with tons of cheese will hide the fact that there's very little under that melted mess. What's more is the fact that cheese is actually more costly than chicken. In any event, we sent that second dish back as well after speaking to the manager.
It was interesting to know that the table next to us did order one of the chef's special dishes... chicken cutlets with potatoes and cannoli beans over a bed of escarole for $45. The chicken cutlets were the exact size and thickness that we were used to having in the chicken parm dish. The serving platter was the huge platter that we have come accustomed to having for the chicken parm dish instead of the large plate that had been used to serve us last night. Had this "chef's special" dish at the table next to ours been served at the same time that our dishes had, I would have taken photos to show the difference. It didn't occur to me to write this review until after thinking about how I had noticed back in February when my boyfriend and I had dined there that the fried calamari appetizer (while being absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked) had shrunk by about 1/3.
I still plan to come back, but I am going to send my chicken parm back if it is paper thin. And I may actually consider scraping my usual appetizer, pasta and main dishes for one big chef's special platter instead which I was a good value.
Italian food and atmosphere at its best
We had a great evening at Tonyยดs just before a broadway show. Food is good, staff is attentive, portions are huge (!!!) and the atmosphere is simply Italian...
