Exceptional stay.
My partner and I stayed here in the start of march, he was the one that booked it and I can confidently say that service at the reception was outstanding, receptionist Mo was phenomenal was service created a great atmosphere for the hotel and was so friendly and warm, helped us with our bags! Will definitely visit again.
Be the first to ReplyLovely space
We booked several one bedroom suites for family attending a wedding. We had a lovely, efficient and warm welcome from reception staff. The rooms were a decent size, warm and comfortable. Lovely bed linen and good sized bath towels. Great to have a coffee machine, kettle, fridge etc in the room. Overall the facilities were good. The older family members struggled with bath/shower controls which were not labelled and also with the low sofa. We all found it a bit annoying that the small hanging space provided wasnโt wide enough to accommodate coat hangers unless the wardrobe door was left ajar. We were surprised to find 10% added to our bar bill and also thought the hotel were cheeky to add a daily service charge on to the bill, which I asked to be removed, having paid handsomely for the rooms already. Overall a very comfortable stay.
Be the first to ReplyGreat venue, great staff!
I visited the hotel March 1st with my parents for some lunch. My mum used to work at the town hall when she was younger, and her grandad was mayor of Bethnal Green, so she was thrilled to see they still had his photo up on the wall and his name on the plaque. The staff were great and were very welcoming of us to have a look around. One member of staff in particular who served us lunch, who had told us heโd only been working there for a month was absolutely fantastic, he gave us a very in depth tour of the hall and chambers and was very enthusiastic and passionate about his job. We didnโt get his name but he served us lunch in the lounge just next to the chambers at around 12:30ish, he had short dark hair and glasses. If management are reading this, give this man a raise! We loved our visit!
Be the first to ReplyUnlikely to return, definitely wouldn't recommend.
Hotel felt a bit unorganised. Booked via a 3rd party for a rate that was more cost-effective than going direct. I dropped the propertyโs instagram a DM with some questions and when I got no response after a couple of days, I emailed using the address that was on the website. Sadly, got no response here, and I did attempt a single call once but it went unanswered. Arrived at 2:50pm and told to take a seat for 10 minutes to be able to check-in at 3pm, only to be told at 3pm that our room requires us to wait a further 20 minutes until its actually ready. There were discounts in the elevator on offer for Silk Weaver bar for guests staying, but despite advising the barman that we were staying we were still charged full amount. The room (101) was spacious, a bit shabby around the edges - particularly the ceilings and the shower/wet room didnโt drain very well, so you could only shower for a quick period otherwise it would overflow into the main room. The lamp was also a bit shoddy. I think there are better properties around London to spend your money with where the service puts the guest at the centre of all they do.
Be the first to ReplyBasement room with dumpster view but without functional drains and toilet
Very disappointed on my second visit to this hotel. I was given a basement room with a view of a wall and the dumpster. Freezing cold with the heating set to 16ยฐC and not easily coming on at night. Shower and toilet drains not working, which was disgusting. I raised these issues with reception and was told someone would come to fix the issues, but this never happened. When I asked to change the room they wanted to charge me extra for this = absurd. Overall I would say this would be okay for ยฃ100 in a Travelodge but not for a โ5 star hotelโ often charging above ยฃ400 per night. Being a Marriott elite member also gets you very little as the staff tried charging me for a late checkout. A lady from housekeeping came knocking on my door in the morning multiple times (!) to ask if I was checking out which was bizarre. I do like the area of the hotel and liked the room I was given on my first visit many years ago. However the current situation here is such that I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel also ignores my complaint with regards to the abysmal stay and offers nothing but "complimentary breakfast on your next visit". I will definitely never be coming back to this dilapidated place.
Be the first to ReplyHidden gem with amazing facilities
What a hidden gem of a hotel. We had the perfect one night stay for our anniversary โ everything was absolutely amazing. I had booked a standard double room but we were put in a one bedroom suite (LG06). The suite was immaculate. Very spacious and had everything you could need for a stay and a lovely bathroom. Beds are ridiculously comfy and we both slept so well. Facilities are great too - the pool is lovely and open from 6am - 12am so could go for a late night swim. Gym has peloton bikes and is very well equipped. The facilities were very quiet โ we had the pool and gym to ourselves in the evening and in the morning. Bar and restaurant looked amazing although we didnโt have time to test them out but will definitely do so next time. Staff are lovely and friendly and all the hotel building and decor is absolutely stunning. I donโt know why this place isnโt busier! Thank you so much for a perfect stay, we will definitely be coming back.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelmed .
I was disappointed by this hotel. As a Marriott Loyalty member there was no greeting and no complimentary drink or points. Staff were friendly but looked unsure of themselves. When we arrived in the room it was freezing inside. The air con was not working. The front desk responded quickly and a guy came and told us it was broken. He turned on a wall electric heater which had been unplugged. The pillows were as hard as concrete blocks and as we had arrived late I slept on them. Sore neck the next morning. Went to get a drink in the bar and it was an odd place. Has access from the street also but there was a strange mood in the place with only a couple of punters inside. The surrounding area has a lot of shuttered shops and looks like it needs regeneration. Near enough to Cambridge Heath overground station if public transport required.
Be the first to Reply5% โservice chargeโ on entire bill is outrageous.
This hotel is a mixed bag. On one hand it is a beautifully restored old town hall, making it a unique experience. The rooms (we booked an Executive Suite) were spotless and very spacious, with a well-stocked bathroom and kitchen facilities. On the other hand, some areas they fell way short of their star rating. We were asked to pay an additional 5% โservice chargeโ that I spotted in the small print when asked to sign a check-in agreement. So this hotel expected a ยฃ50 โtipโ for doing absolutely nothing over what I already paid an substantial amount forโฆ Seriously? Naturally I asked it to be removed, and the check in staff seem somewhat upset that I did so, and that just irritated me. They then insisted on payment even though the room was fully pre-paid, and this took even more time to explain and correct. The whole check-in experience was a long-winded time-consuming farce that left me annoyed. The cleaning of the rooms is quite lax here, on one day we returned at 5:30pm and the room still wasnโt cleanedโฆ. Maybe if I pad the 5% โtipโ Iโd get that 5-star service they promise, who knows. Also, annoyingly, the aircon/ventilation was turned off in our room and while we could open windows, the outside noise level meant you couldnโt leave them open all nightโฆ. I would expect a 5 start hotel to turn on the climate controls for a room they call an โexecutive suiteโ. The location is good for access to the Central Line at Bethnal Green Underground (about 5 minute walk), but the area lacks a selection of restaurants, so would recommend you walk the 15 minutes (or taxi in 3 minutes) to Shoreditch for that. Overall, the stay was pleasant, and the room was great, but the annoying points began to irritate after a while, especially the 5% "add on". Not sure I would stay here again.
Be the first to ReplyOne night stay in London
My wife I stayed in the hotel as we had booked to go to da terra for dinner. It never ceases to amaze me how disappointing london hotels are, how they over promise and under deliver when you compare outside of london price for price. All the staff we met - reception & bar(s) were/are great. Very friendly, helpful and charming. However arriving four hours earlier than our dinner reservation we wanted to check out the pool and have a swim. Weโd have taken a warmer dip in the ponds outside in Victoria park! The apartment was okay, not sure what I expected but some decent coffee would have been nice. I wonโt ramble on about small things, but generally not massively impressed.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect for families
So much space for London! It has excellent facilities and charm. Our 2-bedroom was excellent for traveling with two young kids. There was a washing machine in our room, a huge plus for our long trip. The staff were always so helpful. We loved exploring East London and getting away from the huge crowds in Central London, but still easy to get around via tube or bus even with the overground being out of service for maintenance. Several grocery stores near by and great cocktail bars as well.
Be the first to Reply3 guests equals 3 towels and an extra bed
My wife booked an apartment at the town hall for a week as a base before moving back to Australia We arrived My wife, daughter and I, the room was booked for the 3 of us. At reception we were asked to wait while they check the room was ready. 10 mins later we were told everything was fine. Arriving in the room it was clearly missing the bed for our daughter and one of pet hates no 3rd towel. It was all sorted in the end but clear not a great start. Add to the a massive wedding that shock our room in the basement and a fire alarm the next morning that was a staff mistake. Clearly not good enough for the money paid

Over recent years weโve been frequent visitors to the amazing Da Terra in the Bethnal Green Town Hall. So when we heard that the team would be taking over the Corner Room on the first floor as a more casual brazilian / italian restaurant we couldnโt wait to visit. This opportunity came on saturday evening. So we headed off to bethnal green stopping first at Da Terra to say a quick hello to Rafael , Charlie and a couple of the team before heading up to the first floor. Here we were given a nice welcome before being escorted to our table in the corner of the restaurant giving us a great view of the whole dining room. Once settled it was nice of manager Lilian to offer us a complimentary drink to start us off while we looked at the menu. This is a menu designed for sharing with small plates , pasta dishes , main courses and desserts that gives you the freedom to choose as many dishes as you like. On her return she gave us some great recommendations and would also advise us on how many dishes to order (depending on how hungry you are of course). Once weโd placed our order it was then time to meet the sommelier Marco who after giving us a few lovely wines to choose from we opted for the fabulous Barbera DโAlba 2021 Trediberri. This was a medium bodied fruity delight and accompanied the food perfectly. Now it was time to get started on the Small Plates which began with the Bolinhos de Bacalhau (cod croquettes) followed quickly with a fantastic Bread selection accompanied with cultured butter , stracciatella and olive oil. Closely behind came the rest of the small plates including Churros Pecorino , Porchetta Tonnata , Panzanella Salad and Veal Battuta with marrow and batata palha. All the dishes were absolutely delicious with flavours to die for. Next to arrive were two absolutely stunning pasta dishes. The first was the Brixham Crab Linguine which with the look on my wifeโs face I could see how good it was. The second was my dish of the night an Aged Beef Short Rib Pappardelle that was simply heaven on a plate. Now it was time for the Main courses and the amazing food didnโt stop here either. We ordered the Iberico Pork with black beans and farofa along with the Picanha Skewer , palm hearts and kale. Both dishes together with their accompanimentโs were a perfect combination. We then needed a little rest before moving on to Desserts. Here we decided to choose three which were the Doce de Leite Doughnutโs , Guava Creme Caramel with caramelised tapioca. The last dessert of warm Roasted Pineapple with coconut ice cream which was brought to the table by head chef Joe. This was a nice touch and also gave us the opportunity to thank him personally for the fantastic food he and his team had produced. We finished with a coffee to bring to an end a fabulous evening of Brazilian / Italian cuisine. The food was amazing , the wine was fabulous and the service was very friendly. This restaurant is a great addition to the east london food scene and one that I would highly recommend paying a visit to and I look forward to returning again soon. Thank You Joe , Lilian , Marco and all the team for a great evening and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

I had occasion to stay over at the Town Hall Hotel, as I was attending a company evening event in the East End of London This hotel had great comments on Tripadvisor and offered competitive rates to stay over. From the moment you walk into this hotel itโs character is obvious Fabulous reception area, with marbled white stair case. Some really polite receptionist checked me in and I went to my room. I was not quite expecting this quality of accommodation it was brilliant Ample space, comfortable space. It even had a cute fireplace Had wonderful nights sleep. The best was yet to come breakfast hosted by a wonderful gentleman who is a pleasure to be greeted by in the morning. Nothing was too much to ask for. I ordered full English with scrambled eggs. The sausages were so good and the eggs Devine. Best hotel breakfast I have had in a long time. Big thank you to the breakfast manager and his team. I will be back !
Be the first to ReplyOne of the worst hotel experiences in memory
This used to be a fantastic hotel but like a lot of London properties the pandemic has really changed things. My room, a suite, was dirty with hairs on upholstery, a half drunk bottle of water, food stains and crumbs on furniture and a 'Congratulations' party balloon hanging in the ceiling. I called for the hotel manager to come up. He wasn't at all apologetic and just offered to put me in an equivalent room which of course I accepted. The new room was at least clean but the condition of the rooms generally are very run down and poor. The counter top in the new room was all broken and held together with tape. One lamp didn't work. Upholstery was stained, walls marked and chipped etc. Whole room felt unclean.
Be the first to ReplySecond time visit, definitely WONโT be a thirdโฆ
I oh-so foolishly gave this hotel a second chance. Goodness knows why. I must have taken temporary leave of my faculties. First stay was in 2018: rude service at reception, we were charged for the room twice and then had to wait an inordinate length of time for a refund. Not a great start. Fast-forward to 2022 and we had to stay in the area, so I booked again. Things change, right? Wrong. We arrived at 1.30pm and were told we couldnโt check-in. Fair enough, check-in was listed in my email confirmation at 2pm. When I asked if we could check-in at 2pm I was told โno, thatโs changed now.โ No worries! Weโre in London! We went out, finally checking in around 10pm and were given a lovely reception (thank you) and check-in, with the standard ยฃ50 security deposit taken from my card. Room on the lower ground level was superficially clean, modern and tastefully decorated. Huzzah! But on closer inspection, there were scratches and chips on most furniture and walls. Thatโs OK. Life isnโt perfect. On opening a cupboard, there was a previous guestโs food still there. Not just a few crumbs either. An open loaf of bread, cornflakes, half eaten chocolate, crisps and bagels. Very odd and pretty shabby. To bed and what should have been a sound nightโs sleep on a very comfy pillow was punctuated with an immensely loud, incessant noise from the plumbing in the bathroom every 20 minutes, keeping us awake all night. Iโm a heavy sleeper and it was honestly impossible to sleep. Sadly the worst night Iโve ever had in a hotel, and Iโve stayed in some questionable establishments across the globe. Ahem. Breakfast was the absolute highlight (thank you again) and was delicious. At check-out I mentioned both the leftover food in the room and 24 hour orchestra from the pipes. Not sure my dissatisfaction was heard? Oh, by the way, Iโm still waiting for the hotel to release the ยฃ50 security deposit. Thanks. Never again. What a shame. It could be excellent.
Be the first to ReplyIn need of upkeep- not 5 star or luxury do not stay!!
Donโt be fooled by the pictures of marble pillars. We booked a suite and the room was covered in mold! The room was in disrepair and more like a 2 star than luxury 5 star hotel. We asked for a partial refund given we paid ยฃ400 for one night. But the hotel has completely ignored our emails. Really disappointed โน๏ธ
Be the first to ReplyTown Hall Hotel and Apartments is a great Hotel with charm and Personality.
We stayed 9 nights at The Town Hall Hotel and Apartments in Bethnal Green, London. It was clean and spacious with a full kitchen and a washer/dryer. It has a beautiful pool and gym with a bar and 2 restaurants. Plus, it is within walking distance to the tube and many stores and restaurants. A few negatives is that whenever I requested to have my room cleaned while I was out during the day, it was NEVER cleaned. The front desk staff were unhelpful and clueless. Also, when I first checked in, they put us in a room on the lowest level which was awful. Dingy, musty with old worn out furniture. But we requested to be put in a better room and they immediately moved us into a nice room. Either way, I would still stay there again for the convenience, charm, spaciousness. And cleanliness.
Be the first to ReplyLovely place to stay
I was only here for one night while visiting relatives but would happily stay again. Its elegant exterior is matched by the attractive interior. I arrived as wedding photos were being taken on the stairs, and the staff were helpful and welcoming. Although my room was on a lower floor opposite the pool, with the road just above the window, I didn't experience any great disruption from outside. It was comfortable, clean and included a kitchen area. I absolutely loved all the quirky art work about the place, and the fact that the old Town Hall courtroom can be viewed from the breakfast room. The breakfast room itself was great and a good variety of food offered. I can't say much about the location in general but it was perfect for my own visit and convenient for the tube station.
Be the first to ReplyI love the Bethnal Green Town Hall
The Town Hall is such a special hotel. The building itself is beautiful and historic - the place has such character and the staff are caring and warm. The room amenities are excellent and most rooms have a kitchen and even a washer/dryer. The underground pool area is heated and beautiful and there are a few special event spaces. I love this hotel - it is a rare find.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent hotel: great amenities and spacious rooms.
Spacious rooms in a suite style. Pool is heated and so pleasant to visit. Thereโs even a washing machine in the room along with a refrigerator and kitchen. Staff are very courteous. Convenient to the central line. Highly recommended for those visiting for any reason.
Be the first to ReplyGreat reception staff
Reception staff here are very helpful.I am sure they and the customers are adapting to post-covid changes. I accept my room wonโt be cleaned daily etc despite the same price. I accept facilities may be limited. But that should be clear on the website. The gym and pool opening hours on it are incorrect. They are such a great feature of this hotel, that people book it to use to use them. The balcony rooms in the sunshine are a real treat. Thank you.
Be the first to ReplyA Brilliant Hotel -Just brilliant
First time staying at the hotel - have to say the building is superb and just a joy to look at.
When we checked in - the staff went out of their way to explain everything and assist myself and my partner down to the smallest detail.
We stayed in room G2 and the room (actually a apartment) was just stunning, everything we could possibly need was covered and even though we didn't get much time on the Sunday to enjoy the room - due to being late for an event so was a case of check in, get changed and out, when we got in afterwards the bed was just what we needed.
The breakfast was great even if the normal coffee wasn't available - all done at a nice relaxing pace so nobody was rushing you to eat and leave.
At check out - the reception team again were more than helpful and polite and wished us on our way.
Coming from staying at a smaller hotel the other side of London it is safe to say we will be back next year without a doubt.
Poor customer service.
Very disappointing. We booked this hotel for its location and facilities. The hotel did not contact us but when we contacted them the day before our stay they informed us that they could no longer give us a room. Instead they moved us to rundown apartment in Bishopsgate which was meant to be an upgrade. Far from it no pool, noisy location and tired looking room. This hotel as no regards for customer satisfaction.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid room LG07
Have stayed here many times but this has to be the worst room in the hotel. In the bowels of the building with little natural light (none in bathroom) it has the feel of old tired student halls of residence: stone cold tiled floor (no rug, had to use a towel), odd pieces of poor quality furniture ( not even vintage, wardrobe was a clothes rail like those you get in cloakrooms at venues where you get a ticket), only 1 beside lamp so we couldnโt both read, old caravan type fridge sitting on the floor, no plug beside any mirror (had to take my straighteners to the ladies by reception), no bathrobes or usual toiletries like showercap, kettle provided but no plug nearby (had to perch it on window ledge), smell if cooking, no artwork to bring a little cheer.
Additionally our reservation at the Corner Room restaurant was cancelled at short notice in favour of a large booking. Compensation was the cheapest bottle of โspumanteโ. Not exactly a 5 star experience!
Booked to go again in May for 2 nights, but think we will be cancelling.
Potentially great hotel but under qualified staff/ receptionists
I stayed this hotel couple times before. Room is spacious and clean which I have nothing to complain about, but the service and quality of the receptionists needs huge improvement. They always promise one thing but keep forgetting to actually do it! I asked to send cleaner to the room, but failed to do so, asked them to update room key, but again they failed to do so, I simply think they are incompetent. Also they are keep chatting between themselves and not willing to serve customers.
