Mrs. Paola...the elegant and competent doctor
Being passionate about food magazines and having known Mrs. Paola's name through articles in Gambero Rosso and Travellers' Chose, I introduce myself at the entrance and recognize her: βI'm here to eat the best schnitzel in Milanβ and she tells me: β we make it tall, let's see if she likes it in the end." They let us sit in a private room. Impeccable mise en place. The waiter who serves us is the nephew (I hope given his height that he plays basketball as well as he is good at service!) Starters that truly tell of a Milan that no longer exists. I won't spoil them for you but I'll leave them in the photo... everything is EXCELLENT... seeing is believing. Then comes She. The Schnitzel. Tall, thick, tasty and at the same time delicate. A PERFECT balance of flavors. In the meantime, Paola pampers us at the table, often being present. If she isn't there, her nephew and the good waiter are there. An experience to do again as soon as I return to Milan with my family. In the end, right score. In some places, here in Emilia, you spend more for much less. Very appreciated that Paola called us the taxi. See you next year! Paolo and family

Nothing to complain about, tastefully furnished location and excellent food, perhaps the only flaw was not finding my reservation made online, we were content to have lunch in the restaurant below but that doesn't make me change my mind about the positive rating of the location, in fact we had the opportunity to observe the wines. Excellent experience
Excellent experience. Superlative revisited cutlet and classic Milanese risotto. Of course the prices are not tavern prices, the place hasn't been a tavern for some time now. Above all, I found the prices of the starters excessive. The environment is slightly formal but well-kept. The bar furniture is fantastic, original as the place dates back to 1928. The area is what it is, that is, you are close to a vegetable market, a slaughterhouse or a former one, etc. but at least you can park easily
Tradition and innovation, lights and some shadows
This trattoria offers an interesting combination of tradition and innovation, cooking typical Milanese dishes in some cases prepared according to the original recipes, in others according to the chef's reinterpretation. One of the strong dishes is certainly the lasagna, deriving from a nineteenth-century recipe, which through a mix of strong flavors does not make you regret the absence of meat. The saffron risotto, however, disappointed us a little: a little too al dente and the hint of cheese was excessively intrusive. The cutlet is offered in an innovative version: divided into several parts and very high, it was good but not memorable. Decent desserts, extensive wine and bitters list. The environment is quiet and has a vintage atmosphere, while the staff is very kind and available to explain the menu and give advice. In my opinion the bill is a little expensive, also in relation to the not abundant portions.
Cozy restaurant to return to
Warm and welcoming place with a "reto" atmosphere. Mixed appetizer with some goodies, above all the beetroot, tongue and nerves. Very good yellow rice although sour as mentioned in other reviews. I would eat with very strong taste. Intrigued by the famous cutlet, we didn't take any other seconds (although perhaps we should have changed it a bit). What to say? Unique, really good. Desserts also good, friendly service. Fairly extensive wine list. 7 of us had dinner, including a little girl who took a dessert and tasted the rest. Around β¬50 per person. I would stay here again.
Tradition and courtesy
Historic venue, characterized by a "vintage" environment and culinary tradition (with some modern touches). We tried the Milanese classics, including risotto (nicely creamed, even too much) and HIGH cutlet (three fingers of unbeaten meat, not the usual elephant ear to be clear) truly delicious! Some desserts to review, good wine list from every region of Italy. Courteous and attentive service.

Cozy environment, particular cutlet as it is high and I must say that I loved it! Excellent rice, very tasty... prices not low but in line with Milan... in short, a pleasant stop and definitely worth repeating!
In a restaurant... or in a gallery?
Good food but really small portions. To avoid falling into the overused "trattoria with restaurant prices" I'll try to be more detailed. Signature dish the cutlet, proposed here in a high version: the technical execution is objectively impeccable, the dish is good but certainly not abundant given the cost of β¬33. If in many other places in the expensive Milan the cutlet can represent a single dish sufficient for a meal, here you would wake up hungry. Really small portions even for dishes with cheaper raw materials, such as risotto, side dishes and even bread: the focaccia is good, but 1 small slice each and that's it, just to reiterate that here you don't eat too much of anything. If the β¬33 for the cutlet is at least questionable, the β¬7 for the mashed potatoes is certainly absurd, which is not a generous portion of Robuchon's recipe but a miserable cup of ordinary mashed potatoes, not bad for goodness sake but a bit sad too in the presentation, so much so that one wonders the reason for this price... In practice only the location remains of the restaurant. To conclude: quality yes, prices no, quantity no, few reasons to return.

Why are you stopping everyone??? Because the level of cuisine, service, courtesy, the relationship with the price, the quality of the products, the care in the kitchen, reach unattainable heights here!!!! the risotto is worth eating a ton of, the cutlet is modern and ancient at the same time, wonderful desserts. Excellent wine list at honest prices. In short, I often eat out and throughout Italy. Here we are at the top!! Super congratulations!!!
Really expensive!
This is a trattoria so the atmosphere is nothing special, the cutlet is good but very small, the starter consists of poor raw materials and therefore very cheap! The price of the dishes is very high!

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
