Tung Lok is supposed to be a high-class restaurant.
Dim sum tasted good and the dishes however are below average in this visit - salty, and starchy. The fried rice was too dry and became difficult to consume when not eating fast enough, partly due to the fact that this place is very cold.

I went to this restaurant with my wife and two friends at 20th of Feb. We have very high expectation on this place, however, it is total disappointment to me. We had the dinner set of the day, amounting about 400 for four of us. Generally the food portion is very pathetic, we had to go for another round of food at other place to fill our stomach. First dish is a soup which I would say fairly, pretty good, the second dish of cold dish is too little and with too much of salts. The cod fillet tastes good but it is too little for our stomach. The pork meat is so hard that we given up eating it (again it is a very small piece), because it is hard like a stone, and the noodles are mediocre and tasteless. Generally, I would say this restaurant has let me down with this kind of serving portion and the taste. We will not suggest anyone to come to Tung Lok since their food level has dropped drastically throughout these years.
Be the first to ReplyI had high hopes for this place by looking at the beautiful
I had high hopes for this place by looking at the beautiful menu and professionally taken photos of dishes. wasabi prawns - tasted normal, nth extraordinary. this eggplant and pork dish - interesting dish and but the sauce quad really salty and I could taste msg. Usually I don't recognize the taste of msg, like my mom would tell me this and that are full of msg and I would be like no it's really tasty. But thefact that I could taste msg, means they really put a lot!! spicy Sichuan claypot chicken - this was quite good. Just that it does not taste like authentic Sichuan dish, I guess cause uTung lok has a more southern style of cooking, so it tasted more sweet and sour-ish. But, MSG!! Again. :/ and this tastes similar to the eggplant dish...All in all, not worth the price. 3 of us ate $150 worth. Kinda disappointing in my opinion. Even though food portion is good and reasonable.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a review of a lunch with a colleague at Tung Lok
This is a review of a lunch with a colleague at Tung Lok Signatures in Changi City Point. We sat in the area outside of the actual restaurant. I do not really have a feel for the ambiance ion the inside the restaurant. Sitting in this section feels a little like you are actually having lunch in the mall itself. The service was more there to take the order, bring the food, and remove plates, etc... They did not really check to see if the food was enjoyed or to see if refills were required. The servers moods were also quite dour. This was a set menu lunch at $38 per person.tinyurl.com/b7ch5l4For me the food ranged from inedible to quite good.Fried soft-shell crab with salted egg yolk - This was a pretty nice dish. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Using the lettuce as a wrap created a nice refreshing touch for the dish.tinyurl.com/baqzdq5Double Boiled Dried Scallop and Chicken Dumpling - I also really enjoyed this. The dumpling was sumptuous and the broth was very soothing.tinyurl.com/bey3cqaSteamed Live Prawn with minced garlic sauce - This was a very pretty dish but the flavours and texture did not quite come match up to the presentation. The prawn was slightly rubbery. The garlic overpowered the gentle natural flavour of the prawn.tinyurl.com/a75akebPoached Seasonal Vegetables with Crispy Fungus in Superior Stock - This was another dish I really enjoyed. It was the only flavour in the dish. I am not a fan of dried shrimp. After a couple of bites, I decided that this dish wasn't for me.tinyurl.com/b2ddt63Chilled Beancurd Pudding with Coconut Flavour topped with ice cream - I tried to use this dish to rid myself of the dried shrimp's after-taste but I was not successful So, I simply ate the ice cream and called it a meal. This was a pretty extensive meal for lunch. It is not that often that we go for a multi-course experience for our lunches. At $38, it is also a little higher cost than our average day to day lunch. For me, the food was a little inconsistent and the service was sub-par. I am not confident that this meal was quite up to the cost. That being said, if the service had been slightly more attentive, this may very well have been a four star review.
Be the first to ReplyTung Lok Signatures, as the name suggests, serves the best
Tung Lok Signatures, as the name suggests, serves the best of Tung Lok. Other than these, they also feature house specialties such as double boiled sakura chicken soup with snow lotus, braised dong po pork, grilled U.S. Kurobuta pork. If you are not sure what to order, you can consider ordering from the special tasting menus that bundles the best of what they have. But usually when I go there, I go for the ala carte as it is less expensive and nothing can go wrong with what you order. Everything on the menu taste good! Price wise, it is slightly pricier if you compare to the other decent Chinese restaurants around. But you can't deny that it's the price to pay for such good food and fresh ingredients. Also, they have pretty creative presentations of the food, which sets it apart from many other Chinese/Cantonese restaurants. So for a more unique and exclusive experience, drop by for a try!
