Not worthy of Michelin guide status.
When we first arrived, we were shown to out table the decor was OK, nothing special. The wall behind the unnecessarily huge bar looks oppressive and the messy station at the kitchen hatch takes away from any chance of ambience. Needs updating. When we sat down with noticed a dirty desert spoon on our table which suggested to me that the tables aren't wiped down between covers. We called one of the waitresses to remove the offending spoon and ordered. I don't drink alcohol so was disappointed with the lack of non alcoholic options. My partner ordered peroni. When booking my partner selected the sharing menu however we changed to the taster menu upon arriving. They were accomdating to us. We had mussels in chorizo and garlic.... Chef was very heavy handed with the sodium. The halibut and artichoke dish was lovely-halibut maybe a minute over. Along with the halibut, we were offered a bowl contain prawns yuzu custurd and a prawn emulsion foam with tapioca tweels...it was disgusting. I don't know what the chef is thinking with this. The mains comprised of only two choice-duck or venison.. Having 2 game meats as an only choice is risky and it didn't pay off the duck was chewy and sinuiy, the sauce was sickly sweet. The venison was over done andthe accompanying jus very salty. The desert tasted like something out of a desert fridge in a garden centre... The base of which required a jack hammer. Overpriced, trying to be something it's not with a salt loving chef. Very disappointed. Also reading the Co owners response to the poor reviews on this only cements my opinion. I won't return
Be the first to ReplyAnother amazing experience 💕
So excited to have this gem on our doorstep back open for tasting menu and it was amazing from start to finish all courses were flavour explosions . The magic of the visit was that one of our party has several food allergies and struggles to find somewhere she can enjoy an amazing meal out without making her sick and they went over and above to alter the menu to suit our friend who was totally blown away by the attentiveness and how delicious everything was. Guys once again 10/10 you never disappoint 💕
Be the first to ReplyGreat place
We chose to meet up for brunch here with our toddler Granddaughter and her parents. Despite the grey and drizzly weather it was a great success. The staff are wonderful, the food Amazing and the sweet treats like something from an art gallery. We shall be back.

Fantastic experience - food was superb, service was better. Went for family meal for 8, and from start tonfinish was one of the best dining experiences I've had. Highly recommended.

We have eaten a number of times at 2 Cooks, and they never disappoint. Another amazing tasting menu tonight. Well done to Nicola , Josef and staff.
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon Tea
We visited Two Cooks last weekend to try out the Afternoon tea which they are running for July and August. It was such a lovely selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones. We could not finish it all and the girls serving happily boxed the remaining cakes for us to bring home. Good selection of teas to try and I had a gin bramble cocktail it was so tasty and refreshing. Going back in a few weeks with the girls and really looking forward to that. Would be a nice idea to do at Christmas time as well, as we often go to the shelbourne but would be great to stay local and still have amazing quality food.

We had an exceptional meal in the Two Cooks. The tasting menu was fab. Great selection of courses. The service was very attentive and pleasant. The staff took particular care to ensure allergies were catered for.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced overcomplicated
Booked dinner to celebrate an anniversary having been several times pre pandemic. Had to pay €170 up front for a non transferable non refundable tasting menu. This to me is a prime example of gouging by an eatery who has done very well during the pandemic having sold overpriced coffee and cake to the multitudes. The service was average, the premises is sadly only average and the food average but overpriced and over complicated. I have had far nicer experiences in much less expensive restaurants, this is one place I will not be returning to.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing second visit
I had been at TwoCooks back in 2017 and I had been looking forward to returning. When I finally did, the whole experience was such a disappointment. It took forever to find an available time to make a booking, and at the time of booking online we had to choose whether we wanted the tasting menu or what I guess we can call "the other option", which is not a la carte, but it is literally mussels for starter and cote de boeuf for main, no other choice. Also we were required to pay in full upfront while booking online, which I found just shocking. All the language then after making the booking revolved around how quickly we needed to leave the table we worked so hard to obtain. It felt like we were working for them and not the other way around. The food on the night then was ok, I guess. The mussels were nothing special, definitely not something I would have ordered myself, I'm not a fan of neither garlic not chorizo, but what choice did I have? We weren't even given something to wipe our hands with after fishing the mussels out of a bucket of sauce. The cote de boeuf was nice in itself, although it came with a garnish of onions which is another thing I don't eat, but again, not much choice. The sides were quite disappointing, definitely not fine dining material. The service was ok, but again, not of the highest standard, and at some point the chef came out to scold a waiter for not doing something right, where the whole dining room could see and hear. I think the whole experience was unacceptable regardless of the price paid, and especially unacceptable for what the bill came at in the end. I cam fully appreciate of the hardship restaurants went through during the pandemic and I understand the need to optimize hours and menus, but this is just taking advantage of customers. I will never go back.
Be the first to ReplyFirst, Feed the patrons
If the Hippocratic oath is ‘First, do no harm’ then the Gourmet oath should be ‘First, feed the patrons ’. We had a long anticipated meal on our wedding anniversary in Two Cooks, Sallins on the 19th of March 2022. We have enjoyed many meals of a high standard in high end restaurants and a few in Michelin and Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants. Not the case in Two Cooks in 2022. There were two options in Two Cooks one featuring a Cote de boeuf mains to share or a seven course tasting menu. As a non-meat eater I plumbed for the tasting menu and was assured by email that my needs would be catered for and, technically speaking, they were. We were somewhat taken aback upon booking to be asked to vacate our table by 20:55. Seven courses in 2 hours seemed a gargantuan task. It turned out to be less of a challenge. I also wondered how we were going to manage to eat seven courses and not burst. I needn’t have worried. The restaurant was not very atmospheric but we were there early (7pm) so a fuller house may add to the ambience. Strangely we weren’t handed a menu - I believe in retrospect that the menu was left on the table like a wine list or a cocktails menu but I never got to look at it. I am used to being handed a menu in a restaurant and being guided through the courses. We were brought bread and dips along with three small dishes as the first and second course, akin to an amuse bouche. I paced myself with the bread so as not to fill up too soon - I needn’t have worried. The third course consisted of two small spears of asparagus in a bitter green sauce. The dish was described to us by the waitress but facemarks made hearing the description impossible - no disrespect to the waitress. The fourth course was served in a large bowl with what looked like a dumpling and two smartie sized vegetable spheres at the bottom. The server then arrived with a small jug, of what she described as prawn broth, and poured it into the bowl. The ‘dumpling’ disappeared with a sizzle and we were left with the broth and the two smarties. The broth was somewhat bitter and not to my taste (I love prawn) there was two tiny nibs of some meat which we were later informed were smoked eel - pin head sized pieces. When asked if I enjoyed it I said I didn’t and didn’t understand the point of the dish. One of the owners approached us and in a very condescending manor defended the dish and the importance of the ‘sizzle’. In my experience when a customer dislikes a dish and expresses their dissatisfaction they are usually offered an alternative or a reduction in the bill or at the very least an apology. None of these were forthcoming and the interaction was both cold and hostile. Having subsequently read some reviews going back a number years this hostile, indifferent approach appears to be the norm. The fifth course was Halibut - the portion size was small but the fish was delicious - a little under for my taste, but I know some chefs feel this is how fish should be cooked. It was served in a lovely sauce. The sixth course was lamb for my wife (who really enjoyed it but again was aghast at the tiny portion) and I was served a, thankfully small, slice of nut roast that was as dry and had the texture of sawdust - not at all pleasant. We were both served with the same sauce which wasn’t to our taste. I again informed the waitress of my disappointment with the dish and received the stock curt promise to pass my comments on to the Chef. The desert course (7th) was a rhubarb confection with ice cream. The ice cream was delicious and the rhubarb sweet looked delicious (though I am not a fan of rhubarb but my wife is) - but we both found the whipped topping to be unpleasant. I must compliment the restaurant for its well priced wines and sparkling water which we both enjoyed. The only conclusion I can come to is that the whole meal was a vanity project for the owners without considering the needs and wants of its customers. I know one eats with ones eyes but this was definitely a case of form over function. A good meal should be filled with delicious plates that feed the soul, the mind and the belly. The bill, less wine and water , came to an astonishing €170. We left furious and hungry. The poor food and poorer attitude of the co-owner dominated our conversations the following day and cast a shadow over the whole weekend. I love food, love to cook and really enjoy eating out - however this experience was far from enjoyable. Beware customers, beware.

Be the first to ReplySimply the Best
Everything is exceptional , particularly the tasting menu. My favourite restaurant, I’ve been twice and both times blown away. Second time I did the wine pairing and I’d highly recommend. Wines I have never tasted and it brings the menu to a whole new level. Staff very informative and nothing pretentious which can often be the case with Michelin star restaurants.
Also had a takeaway sambo which was just quality.
Lovely after a canal walk
Lovely pit stop half way between the walk from the aquaduct to Killeen. Tasty coffee and delicious scones and pastries.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute treat
We went for dinner in TwoCooks last night and we were absolutely blown away! We opted for the 7 course tasting menu and everything was absolutely superb, I last minute mentioned that I wasn’t a fan of fish and would skip those courses, yet they improvised and had 2 amazing substitute dishes. Everything was gorgeous particularly the venison that was our favourite. The wine was fabulous and the service was top notch. An absolute treat!

This restaurant just gets better and better. Four of us had the tasting menu @ 58 euro per head and it was worth every cent. Our only slight quibble was the dessert- it just wasn't up to the same high standard as the previous courses. Can't wait to go back.

Busy spot even with reduced tables. We went for the tasting menu which had a great variation and you won’t be hungry at the end. The soup was our favourite. Wine poured from a cool decanter.
Be the first to Reply2C Café & Food Hall - wonderful food & friendly service
We saw that 2C&Co were open today for lunch. We couldn't go on Saturday. Attached is a photo of the menu.
We had Mushrooms on toast, Chicken Caeser Wrap, Bad Habits Flat White, Cinnamon Swirl and a Cookie. Thise might not seem like adventurous choices but they were soooooo tasty! [No photo's...we were very hungry😉] Definitely posh nosh without being pretentious!
The service was fast and friendly...the food matched that welcome atmosphere. Even in these crazy CoVid19 times we felt very comfortable and enjoyed the opportunity to eat out. There were families and other couples but we were served without any wait.
We would definitely recommend 2C&Co. There's a great range of breakfast options, light bites, snacks, pastries and drinks. Or you can get takeaway! What more could you want;-)
We will definitely be coming to 2C&Co again x
Great food
Very good food. We went twice for breakfast. The sausage rolls were delicious! Friendly staff and good prices!

Consistency, seasonality, an attention to detail bordering on worship,an artists eye all come to bear every time we done here. My 9 year old plowed through his five course degustation menu pronouncing each course better than the last. He reserved special praise for the potato soup and the lamb. As usual the bread tray impressed with sour dough textures and the course of morels, blue cheese and brocollini was an exercise in balance, flavour and simplicity. We are lucky to have two cooks on our door step.
