A gem of a restaurant worth seeking out
This is a little gem of a restaurant in a downtown that sparkles with gems so it might be easy to overlook. I recommend you LOOK for it. The salads are creative with local and seasonal produce. I selected the beet salad and found a shallow bowl chock full of bite sized morsels complemented with similarly cut avocados mixed with just the right amount of frisee & arugula along with a sprinkle of herbs and cheese so that nothing overpowered this complex mix. I added a side of grilled bread and olive oil to complete my idea of the perfect lunch. But I also looked around the table at my grouping of friends who were waxing poetic over their choices: artisanal pizzas topped with traditional or seasonal produce offerings, inventive small plates including a charred cauliflower that toured the table and still served as a meal for the one who ordered it! I will return for many reasons, not the least of which was the great service, but also because I never made it to the dessert menu.

We had lunch at Vesta today. Our first time and , boy, we will be return customers . We had the beet salad, zucchini cakes and Italian sausage and honey pizza; all were a hit. I would highly recommend this restaurant
Be the first to ReplyVesta not the 'besta'
Went on a Saturday night and decided to eat inside. Very noisy and hard to carry on a conversation. First problem is the menu. We are of the older generation and found the black script of the menu on brown paper was not very clear. Better once we turned on our iPhone flashlight. We made our choices and were promptly served. The pizza's were okay and we then talked about where this pizza ranked with others in the area. While they were 'good', they were not 'spectacular', especially given the price point. One of us had a salad and she was satisfied. For dessert, I ordered the Mexican chocolate bread pudding served in a vanilla sauce and a topping of whipped cream. It looked good. Unfortunately, it was dry and rather tasteless. Not sure if this was a leftover from the night before or not. If this was fresh, maybe better although this appeared to have been cut out of a large pan. Service was good and efficient. We judge our meals on the value for the money standard. This failed miserably and we were trying to figure out how TripAdvisor rated this the #1 restaurant in Redwood City. Needless to say, we won't be back. There are so many other eateries to eat at in the area.
Be the first to ReplyNow, This is a Local Bottle of Wine!
So, wine aficionados...you want to try a local wine from the Bay side of the Santa Cruz Mountains.... (which doesn't produce enough wine to have its own appellation)...go to Vesta and order a bottle of the La Honda Sauvignon Blanc! They get grapes from La Honda (in the mountains above Redwood City) and mix them with Dry Creek wine from Sonoma to produce a real local wine! La Honda winery is right there in Redwood City (doesn't have tastings at the winery where they mix the juice)! Nice street side surroundings too! I went all over to find a local bottle, and this was perfect to sit and mellow beneath the street side trees.

Very friendly and quick service. Food is awesome. Their sausage & honey pizza is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had, anywhere.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food!
Delicious food. The three of us were here yesterday. However, the food came very quickly. But that may also be more the American culture. The pizza was super tasty and made in the brick oven. Burrata and mushrooms on toast are delicious!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic lunch!
Stopped in while visiting the area for an early dinner before my flight home. Service was excellent, we had the grilled bread and grilled pears with burrata. I highly recommend both! Very good! We had two pizzas, my son took home the leftovers. One pizza would be more than enough for two in my opinion but we were hungry and liked the menu very much. Both pizzas were delicious! We had the honey and sausage and the other one was a special so cannot recall the name but it had asparagus and it was a white pie! Craving it now! Eat there!
Be the first to ReplyFirst time here - we will be back
We got take out from year last weekend. The place was definitely busy. We shared 2 pizzas and an arugula salad. All of it was so good. Best pizza ever. I keep thinking about it. Can't wait to go back.

Walked by, looked good. Sat inside. Service was fabulous! Our waiter did a little presentation of the days specials. Teamwork was top notch. Will recommend to everyone I know.

Delightful experience dining outdoors.
Superb service and creative dishes.
Enjoyed the grilled carrots small plate as well as the cauliflower small plate. Loved both of them equally.
Great place
Very friendly and fast service. Food was amazing!
Plan to park and walk. Street closed off. Busy place so plan to wait.
Nothing special
We went as they were transitioning to take out only, so maybe we had a mediocre experience but the food was nothing special. the pizza was good but a bit gummy, the cauliflower appetizer was very small. We ate outside by the heaters.
maybe we will go back post-COVID
Good pizza long waits
Loved their cauliflower appetizer. Love their pizzas. Comes in red sauce and white sauce types. Desserts are good here. Bread pudding is special. Nice selection of beer and wine
Service is good. I visit the restaurant often but am getting too old to sit outside and wait for 30 min to an hour due to its popularity

Be the first to ReplyYummy pizza!
We always love the special pizza of the week. This last month the pizza had peach slices and was delicious. I wasn't a fan of the wine options, but the appetizers were delicious. A little crowded so ideal to come when it's not too crazy.
Be the first to ReplyFamily-owned delectable food - unique plates and great pizza
Vesta is a great restaurant - casual dining for pizza and a host of wonderful salads, vegetables, and small plates. The pizza flour is light and tasty and has great toppings. Our favorite meal is the pork shoulder that comes with cornbread and coleslaw. The cauliflower dish and the carrots are fantastic. The owners work on site and are very welcoming and the wait staff are efficient and nice. Plus there are tables outside on the street and indoor tables facing the street that make the meal very festive. Easy to park for free (up to 2 hours) in the public garage right near the restaurant. The garage even has plugs for electric cars so you can drive to Redwood City from SF or San Jose and plug in.

There’s all kinds of funky pizzas. One size for all. We got the margarita with Italian sausage which is spicy. Thinnest pizza I’ve ever eaten with lightly covered cheese and sausage (maybe two pieces o slice. Good but not my favorite. We also got the heirloom tomato salad with Baretta cheese and corn. Quite tasty. We came at 5 after a movie but when we left an hour later, the line was out the door. Alec was our server and he was quite good at it!
