Fresh prawns
It has been a long, long time since i last came to Pek Kio. I grew up around there and have been eating there since i was in school.
Everyone has their own favourite stalls of comfort food, and one of mine is the prawn noodles
The prawns at Wah Kee were very fresh as usual but they don't come cheap.
I personally prefer the darker versions of prawn noodle soup, with pork in it.
As the stalls close once they are sold out, tro to be there not later than 1pm.

Good food crappy attitude
This might be the best prawn noodles that I'll never eat again. Much has been said about the grumpy, nasty old woman, but the years have only made her worst and to that point that the long queues were gone and even starting to alienate her stoutest fans. I still think this is the best prawn noodles you can buy in Singapore. Unfortunately, I just don't think I have the stomach to take her arrogance anymore.
PS: the cheaper options sold out the moment they start business, order $10 and above unless you want the auntie to verbally spit on you.
Good Prawn Noodles
Soup was rich in flavor, big prawn ($15) was fresh and worth every cent. Not forgetting my dried kwayteow/noodles was very tasty with the added chilli. Yummy!

First time trying out the dish and ordered a $5 version to try out. Ordered the dry version with the mee pok. First mouth of the soup overwhelmed me! The prawn soup was rich in taste and you there was even dried shrimps in there bringing out the taste tremendously! recommended

I'm a resident in pek kio for over 30 years but have never visited the stall more than 10 times.
On the rare occasion where I see there is no queue (not that it's usually busy; it's at most a queue of 5 people in mornings), I decided to give them a try.
The customer in front of me asked for the $2.50 (or was it $3, the cheapest option in the menu) and was told it's sold out. Mind you, it was 850am in the morning. Surprising.
The aunty was her usual self, barking at customers to stand behind an imaginary line and I was also not spared her anger. Her attitude changed 180 degrees when I said I wanted the $10 order. She was suddenly nice towards me and even asked me to take a seat while waiting for my order.
The food was average. Soup is ok but you would be better off ordering from the other prawn noodles stall in the market which has much better service and very good chili in their noodles
Since that last visit I swore off this stall. Too arrogant and I am not planning to support such a hawker.
Whenever friends tell me they come here for her prawn noodles I tell them to try other food.
Best to close shop forever
We have been eating at this stall for more than 20 yrs but stopped as the queue was always very long. Then abt a yr ago, we noticed there was no queue anymore. After eating it today, we know why. Firstly, the min price for the prawn mee is $10 (don't believe the displayed price). We don't mind paying but they totally changed the way they cooked. The noodle is changed to cheaper type where it does not absorb the gravy. The dried noodle seasoning is bland and the big prawn, though big, is tasteless. Don't bother to go there. No wonder customers shift to another prawn noodle stall, where the queue is long.

it was pouring down and we needed to eat so we went for the most convienient place.they had some lunch time offers so we both had the same.we had prawns and noodles in a soup the cost was 30 sd per person.so we got two prawns and a bowl of noodles.the prawns were nice and a decent size but we thought it was expensive.also the waitress seemed as though she didn't want us to be there and sure enough as soon as we got our food she locked the doors and put the closed sign up.not a great experience.
Be the first to ReplyVery bad!
Don't bother to go unless you want to be insulted by the lady boss.
Customers are more forgiving to bad food than shi**y attitude.
If you are desperate for their Prawn noodle, go to Esplanade instead.
