Bliss
A wonderful stay in the most idyllic location. We received the warmest and most genuine welcome from Richard on reception.A real professional who clearly loves his job and sets an incredibly high standard. Harry too was fantastic,he is professional, attentive and a real credit to the hotel. It is clear that both members of staff are trained to a good level and both take such pride in their work. My room was beautiful, food and drink were excellent and I will definitely return, aswell as recommended the hitel to others. Many thanks.

My daughter and I enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at the Wood Hall Hotel last weekend. The food was excellent, with a good range of sandwiches, deliciously light scones and beautiful cakes. There was a great choice of teas to enjoy, as well as lovely champagne and prosecco. The service was excellent too, attentive but not intrusive. A great afternoon out
Be the first to ReplyPerfect from arrival to depart
My friends treated me to a wonderful time at this stunning hotel for my birthday. From arrival to depart everything was perfect. A lovely warm welcome with a complimentary glass of fizz. Escorted to our bedrooms, lovely touch. A lovely personal card for my birthday with a welcome plate was waiting in my room. Food excellent and the waiter Max was fabulous. Between himself and chef they catered to all my need's. Presentation of food amazing and same for breakfast. A lovely comfortable bed and room nice and warm. We went for a walk after check out and i hadn't any wellies with me, but that soon got rectified as the hotel has wellies for you to use. A lovely takeaway bag for our journey home was also a lovely touch. Thank you for a fabulous stay.

We stayed two nights and had dinner in the restaurant on the second night, it’s not cheap, but the food and service were excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfasts are superb. Congratulations to the management and staff for getting it right.
Be the first to ReplyLovely hotel for wedding
Went to wedding and stayed at this hotel. Not cheap but close to perfect. Very pleasant rooms. Well equipped and lovely service. Everyone friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Average overpriced beer perhaps the only downside. Beautiful peaceful setting.

What a beautiful hotel and location. We stayed one night for my birthday in the Maple. The hotel is lovely and the staff can’t do enough for you. The spa is a lovely way to relax and the hotel has beautiful views. Would highly recommend and book again. Thank you to all the staff that made our stay so lovely.

Fabulous full body massage with Emily! What a lovely, relaxing way to start the year and probably the best massage I have ever had! Thank you! The facilities are good but the staff are what makes this a brilliant place to relax.
Be the first to ReplyThe most prefect 60th birthday celebration
I booked the hotel for a night away, the night before my wife's 60th Birthday on 21st December 2023. I'll start by saying we are seasoned short stayers in spa hotels and love them. However, Wood Hall Spa Hotel and overall experience was a class above the rest. Rather than the usual cheery, some times false, welcome, we were greeted by Richard. Our overnight experience began not only with a warm welcome but Richard wishing Mandy a very happy birthday (only mentioned once when i booked with on the phone. He invited us to take a seat in the Drawing room with a glass of Spiced Apple and Prosecco fizz... and relax. After, we'd checked in, Richard showed us to our room and then the spa and pool. Nothing was too much trouble. The welcome at the Spa and pool was as warm. Again we were shown the changing rooms, given two towels, explained how the digital lockers worked. We had an hour of pool time. Mandy was booked in for a facial and back, neck and shoulder massage, and I quote, "that was the best I've ever had". We chilled in our spacious room for an hour and changed for dinner. We had another wonderful welcome. The service, food, wine and ambience was exquisite. The staff were attentive without hovering and very personable, we so enjoyed their company and their excellent service. I retired to the bar for a final nightcap cognac and once again the young lady serving (studying at Nottingham Uni) was excellent, working long hours and her smile and personality were just what I needed. We slept like all logs on the oh so comfortable beds, firm just how I liked my matress, the pillow were full x 6, we only needed one each. Our only observation was the spacious wardrobes that houses the safe and refreshments facilities/ fridge could have done with a light in them to see the drinks making facilities better. The cleanliness of the bedroom, bathroom, and the entire hotel were excellent too. Once we'd risen the following morning, we had the perfect breakfast from the extensive menu, again nothing was too much trouble for the staff when we wanted to mix a couple of options. We packed and said a fond farewell to the team and amazing boutique hotel but not before being presented with a bag by Richard. Enclosed, 2 apples, 2 bottles of water, 2 energy bars and "Hand Picked" brochure for our onward journey; sometimes it's the simple things. Thank you Julia Hands, your team made our special celebration incredible, Mandy will not forget her 60th for a very long time. To the team at Wood Hall Spa Hotel, you were all outstanding, thank you. Craig and Mandy
Be the first to ReplyA great break before Christmas.
Staff here are some of the kindest and most hospitable folk… nothing was too much and the care and attention to detail was exemplary. The food was exquisite and the environment luxurious. The bedroom was exceptional and the spa provided some much needed peace.

Great stay at Wood Hall Spa , lovely warm welcome with a glass of prosecco in the cosy lounge . Good sized room with everything we needed . Excellent breakfast nice touch when leaving given a bag with water and snacks for journey home. Situated in a scenic spot great nights sleep never heard a thing. Would not hesitate to recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing stay as always
We’ve stayed at wood hall a couple of times but this was our first post covid visit. Upon arrival we were offered complimentary glasses of fizz and also they had iced fruit infused water available. My family had booked this trip for me and my husband as a birthday present, and we were delighted to find that we’d received a complimentary upgrade! My mum spoke to a member of the team called Caroline before we arrived to double check breakfast was included, and at this point it had been discussed that it was my birthday - my mum said Caroline couldn’t have been more helpful on the phone and the upgrade was a thoughtful and fabulous surprise. The room was huge and immaculate, with the comfiest bed. We had a drink in the hotel bar and then ate at the restaurant. Service was brilliant and the food was great, with another little birthday treat added in at the end of our meal. Breakfast was tasty the following morning and we used the pool and had some spa treatments. Pool was lovely and quiet and clean, and the treatments were really relaxing. Upon check out we also received some little goodie bags for our journey home, which included bottles of water, flapjack and fruit, which was a really nice touch. The hotel is beautiful, the location is wonderful and relaxing but the thing that makes wood hall really stand out for us is the team of people working there - the standard of service is amazing, in every area of the hotel everyone we spoke to was really friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. We’ll be back again for sure!!

We stayed here for one night and felt totally spoilt. The staff are attentive, friendly and professional. We found the to be food very well presented and some of the best we've ever had. The hotel is in a lovely spot with beautiful views and very relaxing. We used the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi which was clean and very enjoyable with towels provided. I'd definitely recommend a stay here and we will return.

What can I say an excellent experience throughout. Food fantastic the team was extremely friendly. I would defiantly be recommending to friends and family. The drinks was slightly overpriced but it is expected nowadays.
Be the first to ReplySpa treatment
I booked a treatment in the spa and Chenese gave me a full body massage and facial. She was absolutely lovely, and the treatment left me feeling much more relaxed and happier. Incredible value for money and very friendly. Couldn’t have had a better treatment!

Charmane is amazing- very good at what she does with great attention to detail. She took great care with asking about any areas I wanted to focus on and any problem areas. Such a genuinely lovely and warm person, loved chatting to her. Wood hall definitely knows what they’re doing when choosing staff! Couldn’t recommend her enough.
Be the first to ReplyA hotel that makes you feel right at home
I have stayed for my holidays at Wood Hall for a number of years, the thing that brings me back time after time is the established team of people who go out of their way to make our holidays memorable. The attention to detail, the remembering what you drink, the preference for a certain room or table, everything is remembered and delivered without you even having to ask. For me this level of service is priceless and why I return time and time again. What is also heart warming is seeing this level of service is not exclusive to returning guests, I see the engagement in the bar and restaurant with other guests too, there is always a genuine friendly and engaging personality wanting to deliver an excellent service to make your time memorable. Quite simply a great place to stay with a great team of people to help make your precious holiday time memorable.

Cannot rate the staff here highly enough. My husband is in a wheelchair and the staff were so helpful without making us feel like we were a nuisance. The room was lovely, the setting is beautiful and the food delicious. Highly recommended for a break in gorgeous surroundings with a lovely atmosphere
Be the first to ReplyExcellent hotel
Lovely hotel and great staff. Food was fine (a few minor niggles) and overall decent value for money. Of you want the niggles… Room lighting is weak, I’m told applying make up is a challenge and the bathroom extractor feeble so shaving after a shower awkward. Food wise the choice, presentation and service fine. One or two things lacked seasoning, but generally pretty good.
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon tea and ambience perfect
Would like to thank the team for their hospitality today. The afternoon tea with prosecco was perfect. Waiters and waitresses pleasant. We Stayed for hours and didn't feel like we were being rushed out, only observation would be maybe could of offered more drinks, we would of had more prosecco. Lovely place nice chatty host. Thanks
Be the first to ReplyConsistently good & very dog friendly
Another excellent stay. We’ve enjoyed coming to Wood Hall for a number of years now and each visit is always great. One of the best things is they welcome dogs, the team at the hotel have always been so accommodating each time we book, we request a particular room, which is outside in the courtyard, if is ideal for the dog as it has an external door straight out to the grounds, yet the room is to the same super standards of the other rooms in the main hotel, plus it has a great view across the wharfe valley from the window! Breakfast is a great start to the day, all served directly to your table, large choice of continental and cooked options, the tea is loose leaf and the orange juice a premium squeezed juice, the quality is excellent and usually served by Emma, who is an excellent host and I learnt on this visit has been at the hotel for over 5 years, it is so nice to see this level of continuous service, definitely shows people enjoy the place that they work in. Our evening meals, we always took in the drawing room where we could dine with our dog, despite not going in the restaurant the A la carte menu or bar menu was always available to us. On recommendation of David, another long serving team member, we chose to try the cheese boards and what a treat some rally lovely local cheeses, set off with honey from the hotels own bee hives! The hotel is a great base for the local Yorkshire area, we visited Ripon and some of the local villages, such as Sicklinghall. There is a perfect walk from the hotel across the fields to Sicklinghall which if the dog wasn’t 13 years old with a willing mind but not so willing legs we would have walked there to the local pub, the Scott’s Arms. For dog families the hotel literally has dogs walks on the door step to all the local villages, via footpaths or bridleways. We’ve always found the hotel goes out of its way to provide a genuine and authentic personal touch, it might be part of a group collection of other hotels, but you definitely don’t feel like just another customer, everyone genuinely engages in chat with you which makes you want to return again as you feel valued, so much so we have booked to return again for our 3rd Christmas holiday!
Be the first to ReplyLovely place
This was our second visit and this time we were in Mulberry room which was a lovely room nice and clean with good views but for me the bathroom was very tired and worn and needed a refurbishment. The food was okay but not as good as 3 years ago and the service in the bar is quite slow. Also the spa and pool are looking old and tired.
Be the first to ReplyLovely relaxing night away
We booked a deluxe double for the night. The room was lovely- very spacious with a separate lounge and bedroom. The view was disappointing as we looked onto the roof of other buildings. We were missing robes but this was quickly sorted. The shower was amazing- the best my husband or I have ever used. We visited the spa and thoroughly enjoyed the pool, steam room and hot tub. We had a dinner reservation at 7 but went down to enjoy a drink earlier. The staff brought menus through so we could choose our dinner in the bar and we were then taken through to the restaurant. The meal was delicious, we couldn’t fault anything. We enjoyed after dinner drinks in the bar and it was very relaxing with a good choice of cocktails, wines and spirits. We ordered breakfast to our room for the morning and this was fantastic- a great choice and delivered all as requested. Overall a great stay, beautiful location and a quiet escape :-) will def visit again
Be the first to ReplyWhy Woodhall was DISAPPOINTING
Short staffed, and with inexperienced staff, Woodhall was disappointing and tiring. On 2 occasions, we had to ask the waiter to serve us as he didn’t come over. Another time, we had to ask for the dessert menu three times. And to top it all off, after my grandfather politely said ‘excuse me, could we have the dessert menu’ to the waiter (who, to be fair, was deeply involved in an already 15 minute long conversation with one of the other 3 parties) and after he finally fetched us the menu, he gave a dirty look back and conspired petulantly with his best friends over on the other table. This resulted in a ridiculously aggressive atmosphere, that other couple spoke very loudly, as if we were deaf, saying ‘Oh no, I would never do that, totally inappropriate, unapproptiate, what ever you want to call it’. First of all, get back down of your high horse you arrogant idiots, secondly, we’ve waited 30+ minutes for our stater, another half hour for a main, and is it so bad that we politely call out the waiter for a menu?! What a great wedding anniversary for my parents! In fact, it was so great, my poor mother asked to have a word with someone working there, about the poor service and lack of communication, to which he showed no interest. And my mother used to work un a restaurant with far more that 3 parties, so she knows some stuff. Utterly useless, and quite frankly ridiculous. We paid so much money for rubbish service, mediocre food, and for arrogant snobs to keep themselves nice and self righteous. Lovely stuff Woodhall, take *some* note of any problems next time!
Be the first to ReplyA good night’s sleep
We’ve stayed previously so nothing was a surprise. Lovely reception from the team and smiley staff in the breakfast/dining room. A place with bags of character. Room 28 was looking out to the back of the hotel and spoiled by scenes and sounds of aircon units and bits of debris like signage. But the room and bathroom were of good size and the super king bed extremely comfortable. We had asked for a walk in shower which we got but it came with disability aids in the shower and alongside the loo which looked a little grim. Silly little things like chrome caps to screws missing added to the feeling that the room was due for a refurb. Breakfasts were good and dinner was fine but not exceptional.
Be the first to ReplyLovely setting but management is very poor
Stayed just one night thankfully. Great location and decent accommodation but the evening dining and morning breakfast experience was very poor. For example we ordered 4 pre dinner cocktails which arrived individually at 15 minute intervals thereafter. We were being harried to go into the restaurant after just 2 cocktails had arrived. Dinner was a 'fixed' tasting menu with endless waits between courses. We sat down for cocktails at 6.30pm and finally finished with coffee at 11.15pm. Worse still the food was nothing special. Staff were great and did their best, just not enough of them = poor management in my book. This venue fails to deliver on it's offering, AVOID.
