Yongsusan Restaurant Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year

My sisters and I had lunch there today to celebrate her Birthday. I love that you have a separate room for dining party. It's very private. The food quality and quantity was amazing. All the side dishes were delicious. I highly recommend the Black Cod stew. It is sooo good. The flavor is amazing. The fish is so moist and tender. We will definitely be back.

I guess it's a love it or hate it type of restaurant, and we love it. For us, the service and food is good, and we always have leftovers. Yes, some of the food is bland, but that's why korean food has banchans, to ad flavor and mix tastes.
Unique tradition korean restaurant with variety of food
Unique tradition korean restaurant with variety of food served. Descent price but not cheap. Around $75/ person.
I expected so much from this restaurant.
I went to with two guests from other states and it was so disappointing. The food was alright, but some of it was horrible. The beef jeon with sweet rice power battered was too try, had no taste, and was so greasy. The Bossam kimchi was fake - it had no seafood, chestnut, or pine nuts. The combination of the food is not that balanced - if I were not Korean, it might be fine, but as a Korean, this restaurant doesn't do business up to its name.
For the price it was just ok.
I was too full to eat the galbi that came but I don't recall going wow, yum! It was just alright. Not going back. There were lot more dishes but forgot to take pics.
Celebrated my mother's 80th birthday here and we couldn't
Celebrated my mother's 80th birthday here and we couldn't have chosen a better restaurant. Having our own perfectly sized room for our group of 12 was so intimate and so amazing especially when my son broke out in dance. Haha! So fun! The food was coursed and everything was delicious. You can tell they really pay attention to details in the kitchen. And when we realized we forgot the candles for our cake they had a drawer full of candles to save the day. Thank you Yong Su San for being the perfect place for our Korean family's special celebration.

I have been going to this restaurant since I believe I was a toddler. If you want to experience a more higher level, authentic Korean dishes, this is the place for you. They prepare, season and cook ingredients to bring out the most natural flavors and deeper tastes than salty, sweet and spicy. I definitely suggest getting their fixed menu options if it is your first time. For example, my favorite is their galbijjim ($60), which comes with 8 ban chans and soup. We do get Sinseollo (Korean Traditional Hot Potish) and Gujeolpan (Korean Traditional Wrap Dish) for holiday dishes and birthdays. I don't know about dietary restrictions such as vegan, vegetarian and gluten free because some of the seasonings will have fined grated shrimp and fish sauce (even the kimchi). Doesn't hurt to ask. The table seatings in an open area and also private room seatings for more privacy. The decor has elements of traditional Korean architecture are in wood and the colors. I never had a problem with service by the amazing aunties in their Han Boks. You can order most of the dishes to go. Be aware that they don't allow dishes where quality control is the utmost such as raw dishes to be in their take out menu.
This would be a good place for some nice k I read food.
Not so much the Korean bbq stuff but unhurried setting, price is very reasonable for quality of food you get, and always nice service. Good place to have business dinner or birthday/anniversary meal. Always great for course meal.
We did the Hyang course, and omg.
.. so much good food! If you do the course menu, like we did, come with an appetite, and someone to help clean the table. I was so full by the end, I could barely move. I can definitely see why this place is so highly regarded and I definitely hope to be able to come back! For those unfamiliar with this restaurant, this is regarded as the restaurant to go to in LA for korean royalty food, and for good reason. You can order per item, but most Koreans come here for the course option. They also set you in your own room, which was really cool! So, you get a nice private feel even with a small group! The decor was really cool, and even the complimentary sides and tea were great!!!
