a.kitchen + bar Philadelphia Reviews from The Last Year
I was so looking forward to eating here but I had such bad
I was so looking forward to eating here but I had such bad service at the bar I had one glass of wine and left. I walked over to the love and had a great experience. I am so sad because I love Fork and wanted to love this spot too.
Argh I wanted to like this place so much! Especially
Argh I wanted to like this place so much! Especially because of the wines selection (best part) and everyone loves it. We made a reservation at the chefs counter (which is usually the best seat in the house) but it was not in this case. Unfortunately, they do not have a good exhaust system there so being so close to the kitchen (which is open) was very hot and smelly. So we moved to the bar. The whole restaurant definitely left a stank on our clothes and hair (which is not a pleasant takeaway) because of not having a good exhaust system. If you have an open kitchen - that's one thing you must have. So that was a sour note to start on, food overall was just meh. The burger, which ppl rave about, was good but nothing to write home about. There were some great parts (which is why it isn't rated lower imo) - cocktails, service and wines but food was just meh overall. Go for a drink and an app before dinner somewhere else.
A.kitchen was the location my son has picked for dinner
A.kitchen was the location my son has picked for dinner after our show of Terence Blanchard. So we were really looking forward to a great meal. Upon arriving, I found the place dark. But I didn't realize the lighting was so ill designed. We eat with our eyes. Darkness interrupts that need for satisfaction. My son started with the Fried sweet bread while my wife had beets. An order of sesame bread with butter was outstanding. All plates are small. My wife had the fish with vegetables in a sauce that she thought was very good. But you couldn't tell what it looked like. The photos I enhanced we DID NOT SEE IN THE RESTAURANT. My son had the chicken, which again, when I took a photograph with a flash, looked less tasty than you would imagine. It was a tremendous preparation, but I didn't find it any better than French provincial. And you don't have to do anything, and you don't add calories. I had the Wagu; 5 small slices, sauce, carrots, sweet potatoes. It was OK. Cool bottom. (Aged Angus has much better flavor. Just as fine in tenderness w/o marbling.) My son had the pana cotta w balsamic and lemon. Meh. Suggestions....Replace those awful LED fixtures (with the worst CRI, color and light in the world). The wood slat ceiling makes it difficult to provide even light. So these points of light in your eyes obscure everything you're supposed to look at to make you interested in eating and enjoying a delicious meal. Why? Guests in front had the salad I was going to order. It was impossible to see it was green. We eat with our eyes. Service...excellent. Thanks.
I know, everyone says they have the best pancakes, but this
I know, everyone says they have the best pancakes, but this place really does have the best pancakes I have ever tasted in my entire entire life, and I don't even fuck with pancakes. My friend and I walked over here one tired morning after boxing class, to quickly grab a bite. We sat outside and service was prompt. Our server was friendly and helpful. The ambience is a little bit more casual than dressed up. If you like good food, you'll like it here.
Overall: realistically more of a 3.
5 star. I've heard a lot about this restaurant so finally decided to come for restaurant week for $60/person. Also serves natural wine here!! Food was fresh but the flavors were either too over powering or weak. Might possibly give it a second try for lunch or brunch Ordered: 3/5 Mussels: soaked in a light green curry (?) sauce, tasted like a very diluted Thai green curry sauce which didn't match the unflavorful mussel, probably would not get again 3.5/5 tuna crudo: everything about this dish was so good EXCEPT for the chili oil.. it overpowered the tuna freshness and toppings, def would've been a 4 if they lessened the oil 3/5 cod: also in the same green curry sauce as mussels, fish was good quality and soft.. but tasted very simple 4/5 waygu steak: perfectly medium rare, well seasoned and tender, portions were a bit smaller than expected.. 5 pieces? Ambiance: super cute for a date night, a bit too dark for my taste but very good vibes, restaurant isn't loud as all guests are respectful. Tip: natural wine is served here!!
was surprised it was under a 4 cause honestly it's just
was surprised it was under a 4 cause honestly it's just pretty sold 'new american' cuisine (steaks, chickens, a pasta) executed very well though! food overall was solid, everything a little on the heartier side for me altho maybe due to winter menu came on a friday night after making a res 1 week in advance w/out issue. they were doing restaurant week which is only economically worth it if u get the steak LOL so we got the steak, chickpea starter, mussels, and added on the ricotta wheel. steak was done well altho not special, mussels WAY better than chickpeas bc the mussel had a great herb/vibrancy. ricotta wheel is good, but quite dense. a lot of orange flavor tho so that was nice desserts were definitely weak imo (pot de creme/flan) for sure restaurant week dessert LOL. just super rich and not much else going on. couldn't finish ether DRINKS/WINE are the true winners here so come to explore those lists!! 1 cocktail + restaurant week dinner + added rcotta dish = $116/pp after tax and tp. defntely pricy for what you get but i'd come back to split fewer food plates and really just sit and drink!
Pretty satisfied with the overall experience.
I really only ordered a club soda and an espresso. And then I went over to Fork. I would say that the bartender was friendly. But I think that it could've been better. I'm not really sure what it was, but I think that the original bartender who was working kind of slipped out and then another bartender kind of filled in. Like I'm not sure what the deal was there. Maybe they were in between shifts. But I don't really know. So I don't wanna say that it was a five star experience but it was definitely a 3 1/2 to 4 star experience. And i love Ms.Yin so I would never disparage any of her establishments. I think that overall it's always a five star experience, so I'll just come back next time and get the pork cheeks that I spoke to the chef about and that was a wonderful experience, because the cook/chef was very very nice to me. And I liked that. And the bathroom was super super clean. So that's also a huge plus.
Service was great.
Attentive, nice and pleasant. They work the cocktails descriptions. The food was very good. Nice bolognese, mussels, chicken liver pate. Tasty burger and potato wedges. The star was the duck breast. Tender and delicious. As good as a fine cut steak. Located in Rittenhouse Square, loads of restaurants and bars. Small, intimate space with bar, wood seating, great lighting.
Fantastic flavours - a must try
We would give them a 10 out of 10. The food was just soooooo good. The flavours and the presentation just first class. Try the Cod Gnocchi, the Scallops or the crispy portobello mushrooms. Very friendly staff! We can *hug* recommend this restaurant and we would dine here again!

Came here for a work lunch after hearing about the cocktails from a friend and was wildly impressed! For a drink I got a vodka/aperol/rhubarb signature that was really spectacular. Bright and not too sweet. My coworker got a mezcal/rum cocktail that looked really good. My coworkers got the burger and the ricotta rosette, which might be the most intriguing looking dish I've seen in a long time. Both were impressed. I got the seasonal French omelette, which was stuffed with roasted winter veggies. The balance was really excellent. But the star of my plate was the side of potatoes. I could have eaten just them!
Excellent All Round
I had a great experience at this charming restaurant near Rittenhouse Square. It’s a compact, ambient little spot, with a handful of additional pavement tables. The greeting was warm & I can echo the previous-but-one reviewer who commented on how nicely they were looked after as a solo diner. Service was friendly & attentive throughout the evening. Food was delicious, the menu a fairly concise offer of small, & slightly bigger plates, all very creative & artfully presented. My visit was for dinner, but a.kitchen is a good bet for breakfast & lunch too.
they have the A.
Bar and A. Kitchen which are connected through a building however they are not inside one another. the bar is on the smaller side so finding seating is hard. the kitchen is also on the smaller side so definitely make reservations. I went mostly for cocktails and a little snack. their cocktails are great! fun cocktails and cute descriptions on them which make it interesting. I got bluefish roulettes to try and they were very good. I definitely will be going there to do a full dinner as the food looks delicious
Great drinks, food, and service
What a lovely outdoor dining experience we had on a warm October evening at a.kitchen. We enjoyed specialty cocktails, octopus on greens, seared scallops with shaved fennel, and great service from Tosh, who was very knowledgeable about the drinks and the menu. Great experience all around.
Exceptionally delicious!
The best gougeres of my entire life! And yet, we are from Dijon!!! Original and tasty cuisine. We had a great time and the service was very good. We loved it.
Very Nice
A.kitchen is a very pretty restaurant with good lighting, nice tables and an inviting bar. My number one compliment is to the host, who seated me at a prime table by the window. I eat out alone often, and the test of a good restaurant is how they treat single diners. I ordered a burger, which was served with potato wedge fries. It was very good but a bit overpriced at $24. Weirdly, the plate was so small that the fries fell off the edge onto the table. Also, my waiter never came back to the table and I had to flag down the host for more ketchup.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
