Fylde Fish Bar Marshside Southport Reviews from The Last Year
Great Food, Great Staff, Will definitely be back
As someone who isn't usually a big fan of chippy food, I was genuinely thrilled with how lovely everything was! We went as a table of 8, with 2 kids as well and every one of us cleared our plates. The small cod meal was perfect for a lighter lunch, and didn't feel greasy at all. My dad has the homemade steak pie and loved it, and the staff really made the kids feel welcome (brought over colouring materials, engaged with them etc) Absolute pleasure to eat here and we will be back!
Small expensive fish over £6
Went for a cod takeaway. Ordered a regular cod chips etc the size of the cod was tiny god only knows what the size of the small cod is chips where full of eyes went back to complain about size of fish but they were very dismissive If I had been fishing i would have thrown it back Will not be going there again and i can only tell people to avoid
Disappointed and hungry
Been coming for ages but not again. Pudding chips and peas take away. Got home less than 5 minutes drive. Chips cold manky and very few. Pudding squashed and all was only warm, I'm not one for complaining but best part of a tenner just went in bin. I felt that disappointed it wasn't worth the trip back. Sorry but it was terrible, don't know what's gone wrong there but won't come back
This is a traditional chip shop that comes highly recommended.
Arriving at the expansive car park and promptly securing a parking space marked an excellent beginning. Venturing into the chip shop proved to be a delightful experience, thanks to ample wheelchair access, spacious interiors, a designated dining area, and an impeccably clean cooking range and retail space. The staff were congenial and accommodating, further enhancing the visit, and the cuisine was exquisite. The menu, featuring fish and chips, battered prawns, halloumi fritters, and signature fish cakes, was thoroughly enjoyable. Its proximity to the coast also added to its appeal. In summary, this is a traditional chip shop that comes highly recommended. Service and food need urgent attention re wait and poor quality of food
We as a family have been very loyal to the Fylde because good service and quality of the fish etc / appreciate very busy lunchtime and all tables taken so we had a takeaway . The last two takeaways we have had were lukewarm and indeed the chips were cold hence the trip advisor where I feel more attention should be paid to paying customers re waiting and indeed the poor quality of food in terms of lukewarm ! It is now an expensive option re two portions so should receive more attention to the quality now offered please
Gluten free heaven.!
Really lovely gluten free fish and chips. Also gluten free pie wow.! It doesn't get any better than this if you sre Celiac. Staff are wonderfull, even when under pressure. Can't wait to go there again.
Best Fish and Chips are here!
Without ANY doubt, definitely the best fish and chips I have eaten in a VERY long time. Fish batter - exceptional! Staff - ever so friendly and helpful Venue - clean and welcoming Thank you
Not very good
Been going to Fylde Fish bar for years and always been fine. Went on the 13/10/23 at 17.30. Served by a lovely young lady. Really pleasant person. The fish, chips and peas were excellent. Went to pay the bill of £24 and was seen by the same lady that took my order. I was commenting on how much we had enjoyed them when the guy that owns it came over poking his nose in. He told me to stop talking to the staff as that was interfering with the service. I said to him are we not allowed to speak to the staff? He said to the waitress stop speaking to them and they will get out of the shop. How rude is that and I’m sure he embarrassed the young lady. He obviously wants our money but has a big chip on his shoulder. I would say that he is not a good person to work for. Will never go there again. What he forget is there are many other places that people can spend money besides Fylde Fish bar. Normally for people to behave in that manor they have problems.
Bad attitude with complaints.
Disgusting attitude from "the fryer" who wouldn't let anyone place an order because she was on the phone for 15 minutes. I had to repeat my order to the girl on the counter about 4/5 times and she still got it wrong. When I got home and realised it was wrong, we called to complain but "the fryer" said "goodbye" and put the phone down. Great customer service!
Lovely, but no longer a cheap meal out
Went the other evening and decided to sit in rather than take out so the food would be fresh out the frier. Very nice fish, fresh and lovely batter although two of the three were not very big. Chips were lovely as were the sides. Getting to be a dear meal though, over ten pounds without bread and butter or a drink so by the time these are added you're looking at fifteen pounds a head !! Complementary (and massive) onion ring was a plus. Servers looked very miserable ?
